Up a bit, but I expected it. I indulged in too many carbs the last 2 nights. I am refocused and ready to get that goal.

I'm feeling more confident. Earlier in the week I was edging up on the scale but I STOPPED it. It's so easy to add a half pound at a time. That's how I gained 25 pounds in 3 to 4 years! You all know the story😊
I also enjoy eating what I want. Several times a week I eat or drink something that I would have stayed totally away from while trying to lose. (ice cream, beer, cookies. ). I momentarily scold myself when I reach for the food. But then I tell myself it's OK. It feels totally different.I even went to the gym today! It's in a senior center. So everybody is old. Some are overweight. Some are not (ie. the men). I'd say 75 to 80 percent were stronger than I am. So it's motivating.
@lclark04957 Go for it! Two pounds is not that big of a difference. But knowing that you met your goal is very satisfying. And after that you can set some other goal and go for it (Like getting stronger. You can never be too strong)

Greetings from Europe! We are loving all the beautiful cities we’ve visited. Trying to only eat breakfast and skip lunch (maybe have a handful of nuts) and then a nice dinner. Portions here are reasonable and I rarely finish the whole meal. Walking a ton but I agree with surfer girl and others about walking. Although walking many miles per day we are probably ruining our exercise calories due to wine and aperol spritzes whenever we like.
I am enjoying the beautiful scenery and also seeing some relatives too. Current location: Italy but we have been to Switzerland and Germany. I tried to read all the posts but have only my iPhone so it’s hard for me to type on the phone. Ciao!7 -
@RubyRed427 Wow…sounds like so much fun! I've never been to Europe. I've barely been out of the US (Baja California, Mexico and Niagara Falls, Canada).
My Mom was 100% Italian. My grandparents came from a village north of Rome. They came on a ship, went through Ellis Island, and settled in Erie, PA.
It's funny…my husband and I were talking (just yesterday) about visiting Switzerland and Germany. I doubt we will ever be able to afford it…but, who knows!
Have a wonderful trip!

Italy is so beautiful- everywhere you walk is a beautiful building and the little alley ways are magical. I hope you can visit your mom’s town one day.🩷

surfergirl, i'm thinking i'm a state away from you, but its mostly dry here.
maintaining weight this challenge. Need to kick it up to lose some.7 -
I know that your ultimate goal is to become AF. At that time, perhaps you could lay back the money you would have spent on alcohol towards a European trip. You'll certainly have earned it and it definitely would be wonderful for you to see some of the areas of your heritage.
8 -
@deepwoodslady I would definitely save some money becoming AF. I have to admit that I haven't done very much traveling. So I wouldn't even know how to go about it. And, an airplane ride over the ocean seems a little scary to me. But, we'll see…maybe someday!
5 -
@walkintofit Yes, we do seem to live in neighboring states. I'm in the SW portion of the state (west of the Cascades). We had been dry. But it rained the last two days. It's kind of cloudy right now. I'm not sure what today will be like. Fortunately, most of my chores today are inside chores.
You're very close to your goal weight. I only wish I weighed 125 ☹️

littleserfergirl7, my job keeps me moving a lot. or I should say keeps me exhausted. lol. I have a dunlap problem, my belly dunlapped over my pants. It looks so rediculous on this short body. stess alcohol and poor eating habits this last year and half wrecked it. so out goes the alcohol. doing way better about that. now to figure out the deficit.
7 -
@walkintofit Yes, I beginning to develop a bit of a Dunlap problem myself 😱
3 -
Tomorrow was going to be my weigh-in day (it still will be). But, I can't see that there will be much progress. Although, I didn't weigh myself this morning, so you never know.
If I could just get a good AF (alcohol-free) streak going, I would most likely, at least, reach the 10 lbs loss. Well, there's still July. It would be really cool to have an AF July. I don't want to jinx myself, but that is my goal. The weight might just start falling off.
That was my whole intention of joining this challenge. I thought if I got a really good AF streak going and started noticing my weight dropping, it would motivate me to continue with being AF.
4 -
@walkintofit I know Dunlap well, though not exactly my best friend. I could even say my enemy. Have a great week!
6 -
Well, I'm holding pretty steady for June ☹️ I still haven't had an AF day since March. Ugh!

My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I haven't weighed in for a few weeks so I thought I need to post today. Considering we were on a beach vacation followed by tons of in town family complete with a huge Thanksgiving dinner…seriously….a total Turkey feast, I am happy I didn't gain anything. The Semaglutide is doing it's job, not letting me eat too much.
7 -
@walkintofit It seems your body wants to stay at about 125 lbs. Maybe you're already at your ideal weight?
4 -
@SunnyDays930 It does seem that the Semaglutide is working for you. I can't remember if you mentioned which brand you are using. If you feel like sharing, I'd be interested in what brand you are using, and more importantly if you've had any side effects.
I doubt that a GLP-1 would be right for me because I believe my weight gain is due to the excess calories from drinking alcohol, the liver not being able to burn fat while it is burning alcohol, and the bad food choices that I make while drinking. Drinking actually causes me to have a lack of appetite. So, until I quit drinking, I definitely don't need something that will reduce my appetite further.
I'm still working on quitting drinking. It's just become such a habit or routine for me. I need to break that routine…find something better to do with my time.
Speaking of that…I ordered a simple weight bench. I haven't received it yet. It's actually out-for-delivery right now on FedEx. But, it looks like it's very high quality. It basically has a seat. The back is incline/decline. I have a full set of hex dumbbells and a lot of other exercise equipment. I was involved with weight training for many years in the past. So I hope to get involved with that again.
Here's a picture of my weight set:
I also have some resistance bands and such:

I was so scared to weigh today, because we were in Europe eating our way through the beautiful towns. We did skip most lunches, and we ate amazing breakfasts at each hotel. Dinners were usually pasta or schnitzel and things like that. But I love in Germany, when you order a meal, they let you order "senior meals" (smaller portion), even though I am not a senior. I also loved that you get a salad before your meal. The salad in Germany has four types on the plate. I was in heaven. Now, I want to recreate that light salad dressing. I am so convinced all of our salad dressing in bottles are such junk. I'm done with anything except oil and vinegar. Also, the European meals were not salty at all, even the pomme frites had no salt on them. The pasta in Italy was crazy good and small portions.
Sure, we did walk a ton most of the days. But we also had Aperol spritzes and wine every day. Next month is birthday month for my family (lots of celebratory dinners).
As long as I maintain, I'll be happy. Last time, I went to Europe was about 20 years ago, and I gained a pound a day!

@LittleSurferGirl7 You would definitely want to consult a dr because of your heavy alcohol use. I don't think this is for people with liver issues which I think you mentioned in the past. Perhaps you need to address that first, maybe with antabuse or one of those drugs to help you stop drinking. I wouldn't be worrying about my weight, because you know that will fall in line, if you can kick the drinking habit.
6 -
@RubyRed427 Please share the salad dressing recipe when you figure it out!
6 -
@SunnyDays930 I definitely would consult my doctor about it. I do have some liver issues. And, there's no way that I would order a product like that online without his recommendation.
I am working on quitting drinking. It will be sooner than you think. I am drinking daily right now. I know this doesn't make sense, but I don't drink as heavily as some of you may think. I mix my drinks in a 16 oz tumbler. I add a lemon wedge and ice and a jigger of whiskey (which is 1.5 ounces). I then add unsweetened iced tea. After my first drink, I add more ice and only a half a jigger of whiskey (0.75 ounces) and more tea. A pint lasts me a long time. The other day, I bought a pint. I was working on a drawing of my dream home with computer home design software. The house will most likely never be built. But it's fun designing. Anyways, the pint (375 ml or 12.68 oz) lasted me from 9 am to 10 pm. So, even though I drink daily (usually), I drink super slowly. I really do want to quit though. It's weird…because I really don't even enjoy it. It's just become a way of life.
I don't want to be off-topic in this challenge. But, if I get an AF streak going, I will post my streak with my weekly weigh-in. Or, at least, list the number of AF days that I had at the end of each month. That way we can all see if drinking was the cause of my weight gain or not.
Thanks for your input, as always!
@RubyRed427 I would also like the recipe for the salad dressing if you are able to recreate it!
4 -
@RubyRed427 Thank you for the update. I was going to ask you about the food. I'm glad you didn't gain 20 pounds!!!!!!!!!
SW 8/1/24 164
GW 132 - 135
CW 6/27/25 135.5I'm up a little bit today but not too bad. Yesterday was something of a free for all so I expected it. In fact I expected worse.
I just don't have a handle on what I can eat. Or how much LOL. I'm weighing myself every day which is different than when I was trying to lose. Earlier in the week I was up a little bit in weight but I went back to low calorie for one day just to make sure I could do it. What I should do is go down to the low end of my goal range so I have a cushion. I'm enjoying eating now. And it would take a whole month to get down to the low end, 132 lbs. I don't want to do that. (ugh)
So it's still a work in progress. Everyone looks like they're doing well and still losing or maintaining. I'll be happy if I get through to July 31st without a gain. Good luck everybody. We can all push through the next 30 days. Thirty days will make a difference.

@faurotann It must feel good to be at your goal weight. Congratulations!

It is very strange. I kind of feel like I'm in another country.🙂 I'm not sure where to go.
That's a nice set of weights and bands you've got there.
