Glp-1 weight loss

I just signed up for Wegovy and a program though my work/insurance. Getting my bloodwork on Monday, meeting with the doctor on Tuesday, getting setup with a counselor and starting classes. I'm excited and have been reading everything I can about it.

Does anyone have tips from those who have tried a Glp?

Tips? Don't listen to people here on MFP who have never used it. They may know a lot of stuff, and have a lot of experiences to share, but they don't have experience with GLP-1.

It has been FDA approved for a couple of decades, and it's use cases have grown and evolved over time.

You and your doctor are about to see a remarkable transition. Congratulations, and please report back how it is going for you.

KobiHensley- you might get some negative feedback from some folks. It seems your really for it or really against it . I have been on these medications since last July. Its a game changer but it is also hard to go off them without gaining , as you might read, even if you titrate off. its crucial to use the time on the meds to fix the food /behaviour cycles and retrain your body/mind. Eat enough protein (minimizes muscle loss which will happen on these meds, drink a ton of water, take electrolytes and start strength training as soon as possilbe. . Let the meds work , give it time to get to therapeutic doses and don't fall into the trap of having to go in dose every weeks. If a low dose is keeping you on track stay there as long as you can..because that means less money for less medication over the long haul and you won't max out on dose as quickly. I stayed at 5 mg for 3 months and it was fine. You might hit a point where the meds slow down effectiveness or you might find one medication doesn't workup as well as another, Don't be afraid to switch. everyone responds to these meds differently Good Luck You won't regret it.

I started on Mounjaro yesterday. I’m nervous, as I hate meds of any kind. I’m almost 64 weigh 244 lbs and have had diabetes about 10 years. I’ve tried a few different meds but the only thing that really worked for me was to eat very low carb. I just can’t kick the sweets and my A1C is back up to 7.7. Doc convinced me to get on Mounjaro. Im looking forward to conquering this addiction once and for all, but I’m terrified of the drug’s side effects.

Looking for a group to do this journey together. Friend me if interested.

IGNORE all negative comments that people give you. I’ve been on Trizep for 5 weeks. Has changed my life. For the last 15 years I tried EVERYTHING. Even had a trainer/nutritionist for a while. Nothing worked. I finally decided to go on a GLP under the care of my PCP who is an internal medicine specialist that specializes in bariatrics. After taking blood tests I came back with a 5.4 A1C, 181 cholesterol, and a low low metabolism. No thyroid issues either. My doc suggested a GLP-1 for my super low metabolism. I was very scared and very nervous, but you fall into a routine. I am down my first 15 pounds in 5 weeks…something I haven’t done in 10 years. I feel so energetic. I am eating clean, healthy, and balanced meals with getting movement in for the day. Good luck to you! Trust me it’s worth it!!! Even the judgement. Not everyone is lucky enough to lose weight and get healthy the “all natural” way.
