Glp-1 weight loss

I just signed up for Wegovy and a program though my work/insurance. Getting my bloodwork on Monday, meeting with the doctor on Tuesday, getting setup with a counselor and starting classes. I'm excited and have been reading everything I can about it.

Does anyone have tips from those who have tried a Glp?

To be honest: I don't see many negative comments here. You do you. Now is the time though to figure out what kind of food keeps you full, happy and is within the calorie range. Just hoping for the medication to work, and then your insurance gets cancelled or whatever will lead to rebound. Thus use the time to also learn about proper, happy and full making nutrition.

Why should OP report back when a cording to you no one on MFP has ever used GLP? If OP comes back to talk about it, logic and your post would mean they must just be making things up. (No slight to you, OP, just commenting on the logical nonsense of this specific comment.)

I do agree you would be better off relying on your medical team for information than on anonymous strangers on the Internet, no matter where they're posting.

@lynn_glenmont Perhaps I wasn't clear. Sorry. Let me try again. People who respond here on these boards come in two varieties. Group 1, people who have used GLPs and have first hand anecdotal evidence and Group 2 there are people who have not used GLPs.

My point to the OP was sort of an alert. OP requested tips from people "who have tried" GLPs, that is my Group 1, and here OP might get many unwanted response from Group 2 people.

Group 2 (those who have never used GLP) aren't necessarily bad, or wrong, they may have good well educated opinions. And often here, as we are all free to do, these Group 2 people will pop off and the OP wasn't asking for that.

OP could judiciously edit them out to get the tips from people here "who have tried" GLPs.

I started 6 days ago. I was afraid too but eager to get my A1C down. And it’s working!!! I have had no side effects, and I feel full most of the time. I wear a continuous glucose monitor and for the first time in years I have readings at or below 100. The highest this week has been around 180. My average for 7 days is 131. For 50 days is 171! I haven’t been on it long enough to give advice, but hope you have great success.

Same question OP, what test shows you have a slow metabolism but no thyroid issue?

If you have indigestion or other digestive problems take a digestive enzyme with every meal. They really help. Don’t bother with the expensive health food store ones, the Walmart ones work just fine.

I am on my 2nd week of Zepbound. Before starting it, I had really been struggling to stick to my calorie/macro goals on my own (which I had done previously with moderate success) because I felt hungry ALL. THE. TIME. I know what I need to do to lose weight, but I was having a really hard time actually doing those things.

I made an appointment to discuss trying a GLP-1, and I was prescribed Zepbound. My insurance is covering it since I am pre-diabetic and on meds for high blood pressure as well. I was hesitant to start it, because I hate that I can’t do this on my own.

So far, it has been amazing! I didn’t realize just how much I used to think about food until I started taking this med. I still get moderately hungry, but usually only at appropriate meal times, and I’m satisfied with much smaller portions. I’ve had minimal side effects (occasional upset stomach if I do happen to eat too much in one sitting). One surprising “side effect” is that it has basically cured my Diet Coke addiction. I used to drink 6+ cans a day. I’m down to maybe 1 a day, and I could probably even go without that.

Using this med doesn’t eliminate the work I have to do to lose weight, but it makes it a hell of a lot easier to stick with it. I’m still tracking my food. I’ve gone back to my gym (mostly strengh-focused classes). I’m drinking a lot of water (and one Liquid I.V. packet a day, per my doctor’s recommendation), and focusing on getting lots of protein.

I am taking my third shot of Wegovy today. My advice is to take a fiber supplement, hydrate with electrolytes, sleep is important, and protein protein protein. Good luck you are going to LOVE it!

Not that I've noticed yet (at least on my home BP machine). It's only been 2 weeks though (I've lost 6 pounds). My next doctor appointment is in August, after 3 months on Zepbound. They'll recheck everything then, so I'm hoping for some improvement!

I just started compounded Semaglutide this week. I was queezy for a bit right after the shot but with no pain. I am craving water after many years of diet Mountain Dew so that must be part of it. I feel calm and I am usually anxiety blessed. This may be really awesome for more than weight. I noticed today I have no thoughts about food. Not even random sweets or any need to scroll. No instagram. No amazon. Went outside with the dog. Ate a big salad. Wow so different. If I hit any bumps, I will be back to update.

After struggling with my weight for years (thanks, menopause), I'm on week 9 of compounded semaglutide and I've lost 12 pounds so far with very little in the way of negative side effects (a tiny bit of nausea when I went to the therapeutic dose this week, bit of constipation, both of which are normal). Not only has my food noise quieted, but I've found that my mood, energy level, and brain fog (thanks again, menopause) have improved, as well. It's been an exceptionally helpful tool while I'm relearning how to make healthier food choices and get more exercise, and has definitely given my motivation a jump start.

I am in my 6th month of Maunjaro.

It has been a journey! It definitely curbed my appetite and food cravings right away. In the beginning my struggle was to make sure i ate because i just wasnt hungry.

It makes you very aware and more conscious of what you are eating and what foods you are choosing. You really want your food to count.

Tracking my food in here has been soo helpful.

3 months ago, I started working with a nutritionalist. She has helped me realize i need to up my protein ( to prevent muscle loss), up my potassium and fiber. And really stay conscious about choosing low sodium foods.

(Stay hydrated but beware most electrolytes have high sodium levels. I have found i love Gatorade zero white cherry... the sodium is half of things like body armor & liquid iv)

As the months go by i am eating more, definitely still less than what i was eating before the switch to maunjaro. I have had a couple high sugar/ fat days and have spent the evening and next day running to the bathroom. That really makes you aware of what foods or Alcohol your body does not like on these meds.

In conjunction with everything i do take classes at the Y 3 times per week. Ranging from Water Aerobics to chair yoga and a land cardio class.

So far i have lost 35 lbs. I have a check up soon with my primary to get all of my numbers checked again. (Prediabetic here) But i do feel i have more energy and make smarter decisions when choosing meals and snacks.

Good luck on your journey, just listen to your body and keep tracking your foods to see how they affect you. Also it helps to take your shot the same time each week.
