The photos are all beautiful!
Our weather has turned sunny and today’s run was good. I got my shorts and short sleeves out too5 -
I'm pretty committed to being right. ( 😀 ) I think US is going to have higher shoe prices soon and I'm also committed to keeping up with running. So I sprung for two, both of my last two shoes, which worked well. One is very neutral (ASICS) the other has a tiny bit of support (NB). Usually wides come in a plethora of color choices, as long as you choose black. So these are pretty wacky color options, and I jumped.
New Balance Fresh Foam X 880v15 and ASICS Gel-Cumulus 27

I'm recovering and on track. It's not super fun or easy, but this is hopefully a one and done thing.
I haven't hit my running goal once this year…pretty bad.
April Running Goal :30 miles
I ran 20.58 miles in April so far. I felt good and was enjoying it…but life sometimes has different ideas.

@kgirlhart that opossum is cute. At one time youtube kept recommending me videos on those.
@quilteryoyo tortoises are very cute. Been watching you tube videos about a small tortoise on a skateboard following his cat around.
@martaindale snakes photos please lol I always seem to be nearly stepping on them but the only snakes around here are garter snakes. Miss the gnarly ones from back home.
@John772016 glad to see you up and running
@angf0679 I compromised with 3/4 tights lol
@chris_in_cal running photos od the shoes please, pseudo run posing is allowed … lol
@SummerSkier love the flowers!
Not a cloud in the sky. Zone 3 training and learning to retrain breathing. This is like the keystone cops funny.

Sunday long run - 15k in the rain this morning. I was supposed to meet a friend but she bailed at the last minute (not really, her text came through at 3am), so I ran on my own, which was probably best as I could go as slow as I liked.

Reached goal 1 this month: run 80.5km. Goal two is to run 5km at 7:30min/km. Yeah, I did this a few times already, but my virtual race is Wednesday. Lets see if my nerves hold up. Today was totally *kitten*: Went out to do some intervals, just before leaving the building I realized I didn't have keys with me. Great. Phoned police, who could not recommend a non-scamming lock service. Finally found one after lots of phoning around. Didn't have enough cash (yeah, cash only) thus sprinted to atm at supermarket around the corner, got cash, paid. Went to starting location of my run. The spring, and standing about, waiting for lock guy didn't help. Still did 10 intervals of 1 minute each, followed by 1 minute slow after a warmup.

Posting a couple days as I got distracted yesterday.
Got that Garmin 10K badge on Saturday, it wasn't a pretty run though. I had barely slept and was dragging my butt the whole way, likely didn't help that I didn't dress warm enough for the wind gusts. Got the first 5K done and then each mile got slower. Ended up just over 11K and really happy to be done! No laps around the building required.
This morning was the charity 5K run (the Bumrun), got there a bit later than I had planned, so I missed most of the little kids in the 1K 'Little Bums' run that I usually cheer on each year. Watching the little kids run their 1K, as they really push it, is really entertaining, and some of the youngest are just too cute how much fun they are having!
For the 5K, was a bit chilly at the start (in the shade and basically in a Toronto wind tunnel😃), but the temps felt pretty good as we turned to run in the sunshine. Justified my wearing shorts anyway, though I'm not sure my red legs agreed…….
Ended up in 2nd place for my category (I'm not that fast, there were not a lot of old guys apparently) and in the top 20% overall. Heard we raised about $171,000 this year, pretty darn good!6 -
Great shoes @chris_in_cal you'll have to give us your review of them when you're up & moving. Not too worry, your running goal is to come, the shoes will make you hit it!
Gotta love the blue skies @WarmJellyfish! They get me out the door!
Congrats on achieving your goal @yirara! Good luck on you virtual race, you know you got this!
3 -
Love all of your motivational signs @angf0679 .
@Mari33a Nice running.
Love the shoe porn @chris_in_cal . I rarely find fun colors in my size. Those are great. I'm glad your recovery is going well. Hang in there. I predict you'll meet your goal in May, or June. 😉
You're doing great @WarmJellyfish .
Sorry your friend bailed @ContraryMaryMary . Sounds like you made the best of the solo run.
Nice run and very cool @tarun_yadavA.
That sounds like a very interesting day @yirara . Sorry your run wasn't the best, but you did great getting it done. Good luck on Wed.
@John772016 The turtle did look a bit annoyed that I was bother him. 😂 Congratulations on your AG placement in the race…and the amount of money raised. That's awesome. (I wish I could have as much fun running as the littles do.)

Posting two runs today since I didn't get home until about 10 pm last night.
I knew I was playing tennis yesterday afternoon, so I decided to take it easy yesterday morning. That, and the fact that the night before my right ankle was hurting again and so was my left knee. Everything felt fine, but decided taking it easy was prudent. I did a true wun..avg 15:33 min/mile.
Tennis was in a town a little over an hour away. We lost, but boy was it close and I had the best match I have played in a long time…most games were multiple duce, hard hits, lots of running, just fun! My court won the first set 7-5, lost the second 4-6, and lost the third set tiebreak 8-10. One of the other courts won and the other also lost in a third set tie break. Great end to the Spring league.
We played hard for a little over two hours as the 824 calories I burned attests!
Today, I did my normal Sunday Rest Day walk on the treadmill between church and lunch.
I did notice that my right ankle is slightly swollen on the outside, just underneath, and slightly in front of, the ankle bone. So, I'm now sitting with ice on it. It doesn't hurt at all. I'm hoping ice will get the swelling down and it'll be okay.

This month has been pretty much a wash for me. Life has been really rough and I just haven't made time to get some deliberate exercise in.
On a side note, I'm having the hardest time attaching my walk/run log here! Tips?

I think I worked it out! Let's see if this uploads...

Right knee felt stiff. Not painful but kinda stiff felt like I had to specially 'carry it along' in parts at the start, but not really hobbling either if that makes sense 🤷🏽

The GPS on my watch played up yesterday and is taking longer to load for about 3-4 weeks now. I'm not sure if the issue is my watch or with Garmin. I think I remember @angf0679 saying her GPS was slower to load. I bought it new April 2022 so its not even that old. My foot is hurting a lot again so I think I'm going to have to see the podiatrist as the insoles haven't worked. All the standing a few weeks ago when my son was in hospital seemed to really set it back. Sorry that was just moan moan moan!😂
6 -
@CaityP27 I wouldn't call that a total bust. You did what you could. Hopefully May won't be quite so busy for you.
@kgirlhart Great run and love those wildflowers!
That does make sense @tarun_yadavA . I hope it does better tomorrow.
You just go right ahead and moan @Mari33a . You're doing great this month. I hope you can get the issue resolved with your foot.

135k of 150k for the month. I log my runs on Strava and Garmin Connect. Think I'm going to make it. 😂
My request to drop to the 25k distance from 50k for a trail race end of this month got approved! Now let's see if I can get it under 4 hours.
Yesterday morning did a short trail run trying to stay ahead of a cold front and expected rain/sleet/snow. Notice how the trees and shrubs are still bare. The plants here have a very short leafing season of about 4 to 5 months. Don't know how they do it.
Had more sleet and freezing temps overnight but this friday is forecasted for mid 20s c. Finally can get the short sleeves out. Haven't had a single day over 20c so far. Sigh have to love the weather here. People suffer from migraines like crazy here due to the wild swings. 🙄
@AlphaHowls nice streak!
@CaityP27 you're doing great. You should've seen my numbers from Feb/Mar which were in the toilet….
@Mari33a maybe doing a reset and re-updates on the watch might help?
@tarun_yadavA I hear ya on the knee, I usually have to start slow to let it warm up then after a few clicks it gets better
@kgirlhart I'm going to live vicariously through you. Won't see wildflowers till another month here!
@quilteryoyo nice tennis!
@John772016 sounds like you had a great race! I'll trade you Calgary's cold weather for Toronto's!
@yirara awesome you reached your goals
5 -
I don’t know how you do it @WarmJellyfish - I’d definitely get seasonal depression in your climate. I’m so impressed you get out in the temperatures and conditions you do. Good luck for your trail race.
Congrats on your seven year streak @AlphaHowls - very impressive. I think my longest is five days 🤣
Good to see you’re smashing the tennis @quilteryoyo
If you knee is still niggly @tarun_yadavA, try rolling out your calves and quads - that usually fixes that kind of problem for me.
I’m currently procrastinating - it’s grey and windy here which isn’t terribly inviting…
7 -
Awesome @AlphaHowls .
@WarmJellyfish Congrats on getting your race changed. You are doing great. I think you'll be able to meet your goal time.
Thanks on the tennis kudos @ContraryMaryMary and @WarmJellyfish
@angf0679 Love your office decor!

Today, I got up early in order to get my run in before heading to work. I sort of took it easy on the treadmill. Run was at an avg pace of 12:43 min/mile. I ran the last two tenths at 6.0 mph. Avg HR was 112 with a max of 143 bpm.
7 -
Got out and got 8 slowish kilometres done. Headwind on the way out and slightly uphill so not helping my sluggish mood.
Happy to have it done though and just in time to make it to my osteo appointment, and after a few adjustments (massive clunk from my left hip which no doubt contributed to the sluggishness and he took the crick out of my neck too) I felt a million times better. Got home and was most productive - a large batch of rhubarb jam, ginger crunch, and monkey bread!
8 -
Morning all.
Got in 6.66 at 10'49.
Thanks @ContraryMaryMary - not tried rolling.
PS: pics of the baking and jams lol
@WarmJellyfish exactly that. Fine once going!
@quilteryoyo as always, thank you!

May is ready

Great job toughing out the run @ContraryMaryMary . I'm glad your osteo appointment help and gave you lots of energy to get things done.
Not sure about that 666 today @tarun_yadavA ! 😕
Thanks @AlphaHowls . It's hard to believe that April is almost over already.

Wow @AlphaHowls ! That is amazing!
I wrote this yesterday, but just saved the draft and never posted it. So here is yesterday's run. I'll be getting out for today's run in a bit.
I ran 7 miles this morning. It was humid, but I still prefer the warm weather over the cold. We are expecting thunderstorms on Wednesday, and I have a doctor appointment that day (just the annual checkup), so I probably won't get to run that day. But I am planning to run tomorrow so I should have a few more miles for April.

I am trying to decide how much energy to exert at lunch and if I should run or not.
I overslept and didn't get my lunch made. I said to make sure I had my debit card so I could go buy something to eat. (I don't keep it with me to curb unnecessary overspending.) I forgot it. I have $2.20 in cash in my wallet. All I have in my lunch bad is my apple and a granola bar. (and the bagel I had for breakfast). Maybe I can convince one of the lawyers I work for me to buy me lunch. I can't recall how many times some of them have told me "I owe you lunch" after I did something, and they never have.

I'm supposed to do a threshold training run later this evening but the sky is looking icky. Forecast is 10c and 60% chance of rain/thunderstorms. It was supposed to be warmer! 😭The one day I decide not to bring a wind layer…😥
@angf0679 hah I work with lawyers too, they never buy, one day I'm going to hold back a cheque for ransom maybe 😈. On a side note I'm a Omad diet, trying to loose some weight 🙄 That's more food than I usually have for lunch 🤣 I think I have about 20lbs down to go 😐️
@AlphaHowls May already, time flew. Thanks for setting this up.
@ContraryMaryMary sometimes I wonder why I moved here…. oh yes, free air-conditioning!
