    169.20/140 miles completed for April

I ran a 7 mile interval run today. It was almost 9 by the time I got out, and it was getting warm, but it was a good run. It was a little after 10 when I got home. I was fixing to take my shower when I got a notification reminding me that my doctor's appointment was in 15 minutes. I knew the appointment was on the 29th, but for some reason I was thinking it was on Wednesday. Luckily, I live in a small town and the doctor's office is only .25 miles from my house. I jumped in the shower and made it there at 10:31.

I meant to post these flowers yesterday, but I forgot. I know the dandelions are "weeds", but I still think they are pretty.

I finished up April with just over 88km of running but on top of that is over 50km of walking, so a good month all up. The best part of which is I’m getting my run fitness back, finally.

    Onwards!

I had the post-op call with the doctor yesterday and he gave a green light to begin activities again. I'm taking one more day, and over in "May" I'll get to pretend none of this happened, lace up my new shoes, and get back to running. See you over there. Congrats everyone, it was a banner month of long runs before things heat up too much.

    Hi everyone!

I am hopelessly behind reading and posting, (and mileage), but I would like to finish a post for the remaining day of April.

I have been backing off mileage, because I am running a HM in my city on Sunday. I now do feel completely recovered from my marathon at the beginning of the month, but that took me several weeks. I might even be able to PR in this HM - that’s the hope anyway!

April ended up bring a very stressful month for me - having the kids home for a 2 week spring vacation, plus work, plus our home renovation which not only involves multiple(!!!) (avoidable!!!) rain flooding incidents but has gone all kinds of sideways. I won’t bore anyone with the details, but it’s so bad the workers are now undoing all (!!!) their work from the last month to start over from square one!

I am way under my planned mileage, which is ok because I really needed some revovery. I think I’ll be able to get out a bit more in May :). 194.8/300km for April.

    29.04 strength
    30.04 5.2km 39min 7:30/km - virtual race

    86.93/81km - 5.9km ahead

LOL! I screwed up my 5k virtual race! Of course I did!
I started running far too fast. Result: immediate glycogen depletion, too much lactate accumulation. Had to walk, muscles got totally tight and weak, and then blood pooling started because lactate widens blood vessels. And with every attempt at running again things got worse. I mean, I wanted to finish a 5k at exactly this pace, so in the end I got what I wanted. But next time I really, really need to start running much slower and then increase pace gradually.

I knew there were supposed to be thunderstorms today, so I wasn't really planning to run. But I was kind of hoping to get a short run in. So far, no luck. It is noon and we have had thunder all morning. So far, nothing severe, just lots of rumbling. I am at 169.2 miles out of 140 for April. I was kind of hoping to get that up to 170. It is still my highest month ever though, so I guess that is a silver lining to getting laid off.

Hopefully, I will be working so my milage won't be as high as April, but we shall see. Congrats to all who made their goal, and if you didn't, don't worry, there is always next month. See you all in the May thread!
