    JFT

Need to get a package shipped off

Finalize a couple reports are work

    Get a strength workout in

    Walk more than yesterday

Drag the Kayak out in prep for Sat, heading to one of the nearby lakes to hang out with some friends for a BBQ

My Wednesday evening hike with a friend have been essentially thwarted. My friend would either have an excuse like she forgot her hiking shoes or she would just not reach out on the day to confirm a time to go (hoping I would forget I guess? …) I finally messaged her yesterday and asked her directly if she had any interest in continuing because it seemed like she didn't . She admitted she hated hiking and didn't want to do it . I don't know why she ever agreed to it , it was her idea to start with. I am fine to hike alone and often do but I did look forward to those days. Mostly because I work from home and my social time is very limited.

Getting ready for trip up north. I can eat lunch early today due to lunch meeting.

Love vacations with DH and doggies, but so much work getting everything ready! ..and fear I'll forget something. We will be quite far from civilization for a few of the days. I have someone coming to do the outdoor bird fountain and feeders. (But stressful because they never do as good a job as me!!😒 Hopefully the birds will be ok for 10 days.)

@more_freggies76 - Sounds like fun way to spend a few days. I always get stressed when getting ready to go on a trip because it is a ton of work to prepare when taking dogs and leaving behind the care of other animals to others. I understand the trepidation of leaving things in someone else's hands. We have farmsitters when we both leave and while I have been lucky , I always worry but we have to take time away.. Have a great time!

Haven't slept well the last two nights, only 5-6 hours. I might have to see about adjusting my HRT Waking up with temperature fluctuations again.

Off work today so planning to get caught up on house things, take some things over to my parents and maybe do an afternoon trail ride with a girlfriend. (if the weather holds)

Its nice to not have alot of plans…

    JFT

Take the dog for a walk

    Do a little house cleaning

Take a Mental health day ; no schedule to keep , no places to be ..Its a good way to slide into a holiday weekend.

Stopped in at the dentist's to have the broken tooth checked out and the sharp edge smoothed down a bit. Hopefully, it will hold until I can have it extracted. The rain is finally clearing, although it's gotten rather chilly. I started today feeling emotional and weepy, so it will be good to be able to get out for a walk and clear my head. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yesterday was a low key day, but I did a big grocery shop for the week ahead. I'm doing reasonably well making food choices that are consistent with the Mediterranean diet recommended by my cardiologist, but I'm finding it tough to keep my macros in the 40-30-30 range. I've done pretty well cutting out most "junk," and I have lost some weight, but I'm back at that stage where trying to make good food choices is causing me stress. I'm going to look into seeing a nutritionist that focuses on cardiac health to come up with a plan.

I finally got the appointments with my GP and the vet scheduled. Both are next week, which will get them out of the way at the start of what looks to be a busy summer.

@pridesabtch You have a lot on your plate, for sure. I'm so sorry to hear of the health issues your FIL, MIL and mom are having. I hope you are able to find solutions that help everyone involved soon. I have dealt with panic attacks most of my adult life, so I know how horrible those feel. I hope you are able to enjoy this Memorial Day weekend 💞

@more_freggies76 Have a wonderful vacation! I can't imagine 10 days of hiking and being unplugged. Sounds heavenly!

@beachwalker99 I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's MBC diagnosis. I said a prayer for her. I hope she tolerates chemo well and that it does it's job. It's certainly not fun but it is doable. 💞 I hope you feel better soon also.

Got on the treadmill early yesterday morning to ensure I got something done. Got through the walmart shopping adventure with mom but I was sure exhausted after. Its a PROCESS.. I know I probably sound snotty complaining about my mom this way. I love her dearly but she is so fussy and difficult about making certain choices on what she buys. Like the thickness of towels. I am pretty sure I unfolded and refolded EVERY SINGLE towel on the shelf in the store so she could see it and decide which one she wanted. Most were too thick and in the end , she chose the very first one I told her she would want to begin with . Dish towels, wash cloths.. same process. It took us 3 hours in the store to get all the things and even then we still didn't find everything. She gets herself so overwhelmed due to her own indecisiveness. I get frustrated as heck and have to bite my tongue. I am also a budget shopper and she is not , even though she really doesn't have the $$ to not be.. and I try to steer her to look at costs of things.. but when she wants what she wants she won't budge. Nonetheless, I am just venting a bit.

The afternoon at the lake at my friends get together was much needed - completely out of cell range so it involved was sitting m y butt in a camp chair and just chatting with people. I did probably eat a bit too much and had two white claw seltzers so the scale is up today

    JFT

Get Back on track so scale doesnt start trending up any further.
    WORKOUT
Water/Lemon water to help flush any sodium from the BBQ (Doritos and dessert were had.. just sayin)
Bring extra vacuum over to parents place
Another Dinner invite to friends place, more BBQ...Lord help me…

@HappyDonkey75 I totally get your vent re your mom. I'm the same… my folks have become really set in their ways, and needless to say, not always my way. I love them both, but sometimes when I visit, it's all I can do to not scream. We do have lots of good middle ground. I feel fortunate to still have both my parents as Mom is 88 and Dad 90. None of my friends my age have one, let alone two, parents around. I am blessed, and have to keep reminding myself of that.

JFT Sunday 5/25 ~ Sunny day, light breeze and temps slowly warming back up.

    • Church 9:00 😀
    • Salmon & asparagus for supper / limit snacks & sweets / 80 oz. water / log all food / net calories zero
    • OT exercises / walk dog
    • Water house plants / review recipes & make grocery list for quick in/out mid-week / wash dishes / call Mom / read / digital declutter / other?

Sunday was a good day. My husband and I spent the morning working in the garden and then drove down to visit my mom. We took her out to dinner at her favorite Asian restaurant. To avoid the sodium overload and keep things reasonably healthy, I had a tuna and brown rice poke bowl without sauce and a couple of bites of my husband's crab stack appetizer. Today I'm hoping to get in a bit more gardening before heading over to my daughter's place for a BBQ. I'm also making the ribs and fruit platter and need to do a quick load of laundry, so I'd best get to it!

Busy weekend but good. Got my flower pots done for the back porch. I only did two this year , trying to keep things simple. I do need to go get some herbs for my herb garden but we will see. I am not motivated about that currently because the last two years they just didn't do well. I may just put a couple of strawberry plants in it and maybe a few flowers. Flowers and garden items are soooooo expensive. I am trying to be cautious with funds given I have a big trip coming up this fall and still pushing savings towards that.

Everything is in bloom and our vehicles have been covered with pollen lately, especially the pine trees. I don't have allergies normally but I did wake up today feeling a bit congested.

cschmitz110515- thanks for understanding.. its good to know someone else out there has these same feelings and frustrations.. We are blessed to have our parents for sure. I love them dearly but its challenging. Next Monday I will take my dad in for his cardiac procedure. Its being done 2 hours from where we live so it will be a long day as its outpatient , assuming no complications.

    JFT

Try to get back into work mode

Make some phonecalls for upcoming appts

walk on treadmill, light weights today, since I am body sore from yesterday

    Water

    Protein

No SWEETS- I indulged a bit over the weekend

With everything going on, life has gotten away from me lately. I will weigh tomorrow. I'll be content with no gain, but honestly expect a pound or so up. Sorry all. FIL is finally getting discharged today. That will make things easier as we (Hubby, SIL & I) only have to cover one location instead of two until we find help. I think after a few weeks we can back down coverage from 24/7 to just during the day. Just need to make sure FIL is up to the task of following MIL around and keeping her calm. In the midst of this I had a conversation with my mom about moving her into assisted living (that did not go well). To top things off hubby is sick now. I'm a basket case!

Oh yeah, I applied for a new job also. Nothing wrong with the current except hubby and I both work here. If something happens we'd both be screwed. Thinking its time to diversify, and there are openings locally.

I need to get back on track like yesterday! Goal is grocery tonight to stock office, gym tomorrow morning, logging food, and back to daily weigh ins. Can't hide from the scale forever.

    JFT Tuesday

    • Work by 7:15 ✔️
    • Meetings ✔️

    • Home

Nice relaxed weekend. Hung out at youngest son's on Sunday afternoon and grilled out for dinner. Was a nice visit and good to get some sunshine. Yesterday we took a drive to a little fishing town on Lake Michigan that we really like. The lake was so calm, the water was like glass. That's unusual for the big lake. We walked the beach and the pier and my husband cast a fishing pole off the pier a few times. Sky was blue and so was the water. Just gorgeous day. Good for the soul.

Today, I go to my mom's for a quilting video we watch together. It's overcast but 68 degrees so we are able to have the windows open. I love airing out the house and hearing the birds after being shut in all winter!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and week!

@angf0679 Nice to see you back! I understand about managing your time on social media. I tend to go down the same rabbit hole. The way I see it, this thread is for our personal self care and goals, and if we have time to read or reply to someone else, that's just the gravy on top. Take care of you!

@HappyDonkey75 @cschmitz110515 I also have both of my parents and share in your frustrations. I love them dearly, but I bite my tongue a lot!

    Just for Today:

    1. 24H plan and assess. 😁 Done
    2. 60+ oz water by 7 pm
    3. Close activity rings.
    4. PT Exercises
    5. Lymphedema massage (try to do twice)
    6. Bills
    7. Mom's for FC quilting show
    8. Prayer time. Reflection time.
    9. Journal. Marcos. Reply to texts or dm's
    10. Get outside. Take a walk or pull some weeds.
    11. Log all my food and water. Complete MFP food diary at the end of the day.
    12. Evening routine; started 30 minutes before bedtime

    2025 Goals: Strengthen. Balance. Health.
