LESS Alcohol ~ May 2025 ~ One Day at A Time

@Womona I hear ya on being relaxed on the boat and drinking to celebrate being on the water. I personally couldn't go on any type of water craft without drinking. I told you the story of my sailboat incident. But I have had many other experiences with water craft from these Styrofoam peanut filled rafts (dirt bags) that we used to float on the Rogue river to just about every other type of watercraft you can imagine. We had a nice three hour float from Gold Hill to Grants Pass with the dirt bags. My brother owned a 16 ft deep V. And, a guy I was dating had a ski boat. Anyways, alcohol was always involved. Back then, it was usually beer (easy to transport). One time on my friend's ski boat, there were four of us and it was nighttime. We were on the Pacific ocean, but we were cruising down, I guess what you would call a canal, with homes on the banks. The speed limit was 5 mph. We had a gallon jug of orange juice and vodka. We were just passing it around while singing, "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me" 😀 Lots of good times!
As far as my husband feeling threatened by my quitting. I do know that happens a lot. But, in our case, he really wants me to quit or at least cut back majorly. I really don't mind if he smokes occasionally, just not all the time. And, as long as he doesn't get lazy and gets his chores done LOL. He's actually been very active and helpful. Even doing some of the chores that I normally do.
As far as Tinker. She's doing pretty good. We're still giving her transdermal medicine for her hyperthyroidism and the doctor prescribed an appetite stimulant. So she's eating pretty well. She actually feels heavier when I pick her up. I'm going to weigh her next week. She has some matting on her backside. But, my husband is slowly cutting and brushing them out. BTW…my husband will never get the hairstylist of the year award 🙂 She's a wonderful cat. But, she's not a very good patient 😕 All-in-all, she seems pretty much like herself.

That’s amazing to hear about your husband @globalhiker!
Obviously, you have set an excellent example for him!4 -
Walked on the shoreline two days in a row and ended at over 10k steps for each day. DH cooked a delicious steak dinner last night and I opened a red wine from a local winery nearby (the little markets sell the local wines). It was a mindful move on my part and I savored 2 glasses - 1 before and 1 after the sunset!
Watching my trends overall and thinking about June LA goals.
Happy Friday!

@LittleSurferGirl7 Yes, you will! I believe in you. It's interesting that you are both enabling each other right now. But deep down, you want each other to quit. So, pretty soon, I see the tide shifting and you championing one another :) Taking things one day at a time is the only way to go through life (for everything), so when you're ready to make today your first day (and tomorrow your next first day), I'll be here to cheer you on!

@Katsember You'll all know when I get my Day 1 AF. I will be shouting it from the mountain top 😀 I don't like to announce ahead of time when Day 1 will be because I've been wrong so many times. But, it will be soon!

I would love to know: What is everyone's "Why" for being on this thread?
Why do you want to be alcohol free or drink less?

@Katsember You may want to post your question on the June thread. Everybody has moved on to June. You can find the link several posts before your post.
