    MFP Weekly Check-In for June 2, 2025

Debbie in Napa Valley CA - 152.4 again today. Not going down like I would like but glad it isn't going up. Not as much regular exercise this week(only had Ezie one day, and no Zumba on Monday because of the holiday) but I did work in mom's garden two days in a row. Got over 18,000 steps Tuesday and over 16,000 steps on Wed between gardening and Zumba).

Rita in Roswell NM - After eating Cajun food and driving for 16 hrs., up 2.6 pounds. Should go down now that Iโ€™m back to routine should even out.ย

Sue in WA - Weight is the same at 233. Did pretty well on exercise, did horrible on eating. The sugar demon got me good and proper. Disagreement with DD on water heater has me upset and eating to soothe myself. Crazy me, I know that doesn't really work, only makes me feel worse. Well this is a new day and I need to let my resentment be and get on with life. There is lots of stuff outside that could use my attention.

Lanette in SW WA โ€“ Weight staying within desired range. Average daily steps 8504 โ€“ down a bit from prior week. Walking with weights minimum 30 minutes per day, divided throughout the day after meals, though Iโ€™ve started to substitute early morning โ€œsunriseโ€ walks on the little private road (no weights of course.)

Lorna, I am so sorry about you getting hit on here. It happens all the time and I've reported SO many of these creeps! I wish they'd do something, but it doesn't seem to be high on their priority list. I just delete anyone/everyone with a male profile pic. Believe me, they're all the same creep.

Kylia, I sorry you won't make it home for your "dad's" funeral. That must be heartbreaking. Sending big (((hugs))) I'm sure granddaughter is okay or will be. Feeling lost when your loved ones are injured is normal. Let us know how she's doing.

I believe that it's wrought iron, Barbie. It's just so lovely and one of the things that I love about it is that I almost can't see it against the natural background.

    Totally heavenly, Lisa.

So sad about Kim... sending prayers for successful treatment. Glad you found it early!

    Love and Blessings
    Carla, in MN

Rita โ€“ so sorry you arenโ€™t feeling well. Hope it passes soon

Lisa โ€“ thank you so so much for telling us about Kim. My heart goes out to her. Glad she went at the first sign of a problem and that itโ€™s benign. I, too, am thankful for her roommate

mshell โ€“ welcome. Dh had a tibial plateau fracture about 15 years ago so I can just imagine what youโ€™re up against. It took a while, but it did get better. Not perfect, but better

People are always asking to see pics of my ceramics. Well, here they are. Of course, this doesnโ€™t include the ones that are in the front of the house.

Going to work on the tissue box for my gf.

Since I wonโ€™t be at work Fri and Sat I asked the store mgr if sheโ€™d like me to come in Thurs (my usual day off) and she said โ€œyesโ€ so Iโ€™ll go in, give them extra tomatoes and onions like I do for the weekend.

Hoping Kim is on her way to recovery. We are all thinking about you! ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ’– What a shock to suddenly find that out.

Oh wow, mshell! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ It's like TV rescue come to life! I often watch mountain or sea rescue shows, and there you are! Yes, I think it would set the exercise regime back a bit.......

Michele - That is some mega collection! Great that you made them personally, and each one means something to you.

Lanette - I'm in awe of everything you do as a lone pioneer woman. Kudos. ๐Ÿคฉ

John and I had a mega, mega, shouting match last night. I have yet to find out how he is this morning. We haven't done that for years, and I hadn't been drinking. I will apologise for my part in it and my outburst, when I take him a cup of tea.

Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Day 6 of Learning to Swim.

Need to figure out a breathing rhythm. What works for cycling & climbing stairs, doesn't for swimming.

Elaine - Glad you're here with us. If there is one thing this community of women brings me, it is perspective. I don't believe that comparative pain is useful, but nonetheless, our own problems can feel less important when set beside these lovely, stalwart friends. And they become that, as unexpected as it seemed when I first joined the thread more than a decade ago. First visit each morning and usually my last visit in the afternoon before I turn off my computer for the night. Spans the world, this group, and makes it feel smaller. Enjoy your time with your granddaughter and daughter-in-law. Pics (if it's OK with your DIL) are always welcome! On your next post - I ran the mile relay in high school, and had no issues when I went in the military with mile run during basic training. Nowโ€ฆ yeah, that's not happening. And like Barbie, once it's over 80 degrees, I'm back inside. The heart meds make sure that happensโ€ฆ Ah well.

Heather - Glad you and John are being nice to each other again. I find any of the rare blowups with Corey will leave me shaky for hours if not days after.

Beth - Speaking of those rare blowups, getting my husband to make a decision at something resembling a reasonable rate of speed for something big like a truck is probably the one that happens most. My sympathies for how long your DH is taking to decide. That will get on my last nerve. And has. More than once.

Mo - It's good to see you. Glad we're here to offload some of that heavy burden. Love seeing your posts pop up.

Michele - So many ceramics pieces! How many do you have now? And I see you learned how to work with the new picture embedding process here on MFP, too. Well done!

@mshell0327 - Glad your rescue was accomplished, sorry the recovery has been toughโ€ฆ I was up in that area in my late 20s, camping with my now-ex-husband and friends, and my main memory is just fighting the frogs for the showers - the rain never stopped once. Looks like you had a lovely day for it! And a lovely rescue team, too. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Talked to Corey on his good morning call, he's going about three hours north and a little west into Oklahoma to fix a piece of heavy equipment. I interpret, of course - he called it a "leaky kitty cat," so I'm assuming it's a Caterpillar loader with a hydraulic leak. The more he plays it down, the bigger it is, usually.

Went to sleep watching a "Philosophy for Sleep" video on YouTube, and the part that stuck before I drifted off was the one on the transcendence of transience. Knowing that everything is transient, and celebrating that temporary presence in our lives is one of the hardest things that humans do. I think it only comes with age in our culture, and even then, we don't always learn it. Death and loss are such a part of our lives, and the ones we struggle with the most, it seems.

Back to Earth with a bump - need to head into town here shortly and pick a few things up for Corey, and quit watching these men inch this massive shed up onto a trailer. Speaking of not moving at my speedโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜‚

Did talk to one of them who's helping out with the shed move yesterday. He owns a woodlot outside of town, and he's going to come clear a number of trees out for us, and will do it for the price of just keeping the wood. Harvesting these old, dead massive trees that are genuinely dangerous will be good for his business, and keep us from having to work around them to do the clearing of this chunk of land. Excellent barter, as far as we're concerned.

Got a quick text from Kim - supposedly, they're sending her home after morning rounds, and right now the surgery is at 6 a.m. California time on Thursday morning. I'm sure she'll check in here if she can. First thing surgeries (to me) are always preferable. Keep a good thought.

    Later, y'all,
    Love,

OK - tailed off into an Internet rabbit hole or two, but forgot to say in my last post, I picked up the Inspector Lynley Mysteries on Britbox last night, watched the first two. Quite absorbing, lots of red herrings. Six seasons available, it's more than 20 years old, but didn't feel that way.
