JUNE 2025 Monthly Running Challenge

This morning I ran 5 miles. About 3 of it was on the trails in the North Cheyenne Canon. Beautiful morning with temperature at 49F at the beginning of the run. I managed not to trip this time!
For the question of the month, I typically only watch television for about 30-45 minutes before I fall asleep each night. During hiking season, I will follow some YouTubers on their journey thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. I’m currently following 3 different individuals/families on their hikes and their daily videos are anywhere from 10 – 20 minutes each. I just subscribed to Paramont+ so that I could watch the Amazing Race. I love that series and will be able to download episodes to watch on an upcoming international flight. I also subscribe to PBS (can’t download from that app) and watch Call of the Midwife.
@daria0919 – I hope DH came through the surgery with flying colors and is recovering well.
Hope you enjoy your trip to the Artic Circle @yirara Sounds adventerous!
I hope your knee pain goes away completely @Scott6255 and that you get your groove back quickly!
How nice of Vanna White @quilteryoyo I would love to send your mom a birthday card!

Welcome @showjumper . Checking in every day is good motivation. This group is very supportive and chatty. Feel free to join in on the conversations. You'll get hooked, which will help with the motivation, I think.
@WarmJellyfish Sounds like you DID give it your all. Not sweating is not good, but you know that. I hope you recover soon and get in a few more base miles before your next endurance race.
@yirara I hope your back feels better soon. You did great hanging in there.
That's awesome @Scott6255 . I hope your knee holds out. Does she have a target pace? AND and Alaskan Cruise?! The only cruises I would be interested in at this point in my life are ones going to Alaska and the Galapagos Islands. Enjoy.
Great running in Colorado @Teresa502 . Glad you didn't trip today. I'll text you mom's address. Thanks so much for that.

1 June Walked 1.10 miles - Ran 0.00 miles
2 June Walked 0.90 miles - Ran 2.35 miles - Driveway laps - Mowed 1h44m56s (2.32 miles)4.35/70 mile goal
I did a driveway wun early afternoon. By then, I was already tired and was planning to mow when I finished, so took it slow. I really didn't plan to run as far as I did, but it wasn't too bad once I got going. The cool down walk was the worst - uphill and I had just ran a fast 0.35 miles. The avg pace for the run was 12:43 min/mile. Avg HR was 140 with a max of 166 bpm. (I'm not sure why my HR seems to be on the higher side lately.) Splits were 13:16, 12:49, and 10:57.
Last April, I started a Garmin challenge to traverse enough mileage to complete the Appalachian Trail. Garmin counted all of my steps and I finished it today!
It's amazing that Tara Dower completed the trail in under 41 days last year!

Back on MFP, back to running.

Hi everyone!
Got in 10.2km this morning. It was a nice run on the old train track route I haven’t done in awhile. Tomorrow, no running, I took the day off work and am going to the Hannover Zoo with my daughter and all of the other second graders at her school ;).
30/270km for June!7 -
So offline for a couple days and not even sure how many posts I liked my way through……too many to count & comment on individually 😂 so Great Runs everyone!!
Welcome @craig10rookie, @TheBugaloos, @showjumper & @FranzGruber34 (didn't you die in "Die Hard"?)@WarmJellyfish, "….note to self, avoid breaking ribs….", if I sign up for a trail race, I am totally putting that on a running T 😁
10K steps is pretty impressive on an injury @SummerSkier, hope you heal quickly!
Totally agree with @tarun_yadavA re: Last of Us, watch the 1st season, it was excellent. I regret the time I spent watching the 2nd season and doubt I'll watch 3rd when it shows up in 2 years unless I forget how bad it got!
You never know what will get your groove back @Scott6255, looks like something may have? Ship training on an Alaskan cruise, very cool!June:
01/06 & 02/06 - 0km / 0 miles
03/06 - 12.30km / 7.64 milesTotal = 12.30km / 7.64 miles (Goal - 175Km / 108.74 miles)
Meeting my Physiotherapist on Monday, he thinks that it may be a bit 'counterintuitive to increase my mileage goals while in pain….' …Though…., he didn't say 'Dear God No!' & since he knows I'm a stubborn bugger, I'm taking his suggestion as a…. 'let's see how it goes'.
Unfortunately nerve pain was fairly severe on Sunday & Monday, so no running at all. I did notice reviewing my Garmin data that some of my worst nerve pain days occurred after longer cycling workouts, so may need to reduce mileage on the bike for a bit.
Right now, today, after a more than hour run earlier, the nerve pain is the lowest it's been in days.
If it feels better when I run, guess I'm going to run.7 -
LMAO, @John772016! That was my brother, HANS Gruber, in "Diehard"…I'm FRANZ Gruber, like the character in "Hobbs & Shaw" (except my passport is REAL)! #freelancearchitect #avidmountainclimber #partimeskiinstructor 🤣

@John772016 it definitely ALWAYS gets better with running. I saw cut the bike out and see how the nerves react.
Today I did a test 5 minutes of running. No worse than the walking i was trying and honestly maybe better. At least mentally. I will see how things go tomorrow but I am one who always has to test the limits.
@showjumper I think riding is definitely a work out. And if you are schooling 2 and don't have someone grooming for you it's definitely an all around type thing. Just being out in the barn air makes me happy. I do miss it but I have not had the urge since my horse partner of 25 years passed in 2021 at the age of 29. I blame that on covid too.

Nice running @ContraryMaryMary and @tarun_yadavA .
Welcome @FranzGruber34 .
Nice running @Laurz9191 . Enjoy your day at the zoo! I'm sure you'll be getting plenty of exercise herding kids all day.
@John772016 Nice run and I'm glad that your pain was less after the run. Funny how those things happen sometimes. AND glad your physio didn't tell you to stop running - sounds like he knew he would just be wasting his breath if he did. 😉
@SummerSkier I'm glad running didn't aggravate your foot. Do take it easy though. You don't want to make it worse.

My brain was working against me today, as were my lungs. But, I made myself get out and do a slow driveway wun. I did sprint the last 0.21 miles at a 9:39 min/mile pace. Avg pace for the run was 13:17 min/mile. Avg HR was 145 with a max of 167 bpm.
We mowed mom's yard later today, but I just did the riding part. My mom on the other hand, push mowed for an hour. I sure hope I have her genes. (If you're new here, I'm not being mean to my mom. She has never driven and a riding mower scares her, so she won't even try. She push mows what she can and then me or my neighbor finishes what she can't after we finish riding and weed eating.)

June Goal: 140 Miles
6/1: 11.02 miles
6/2: 6.06 miles
6/3: 3.33 miles20.41/140 miles completed for June
I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, so I am posting two runs today. Yesterday was my first day of my new job. I got up early to run and ran 6 miles. It was dark when I started out, but light by the time I got home. It was a nice run, but warm and humid. I think I am going to like the new job. Yesterday was a little overwhelming. Hospital accounting is different from oil and gas accounting, but essentially it's all the same, so I think it will be good.
This morning when I got up there were thunderstorms west of us and heading our way. I had a little bit of time though, so I got out for 3.33 miles. I barely made it home before the storm hit. I did get rained on a few blocks from home, but I beat the storm. Today work was a little less overwhelming. Hopefully it won't be too long before I feel like I know what I am doing.

Pilates and short run combo for me today. It was drizzling when I left Pilates but very warm considering it’s winter here - I was in shorts and a T-shirt. The rain got heavier and heavier in the 20 minutes I was out, to the point I was absolutely saturated by the time I got back to my car. Fortunately, I love running in the rain!

I ran 1.89M at 12'38 tonight. The plan called for "intervals" so I picked up a lttle. It felt good.

June 4, 2025: The freak SoCal thunderstorm, yesterday, didn't derail my new exercise/running programme, as I was able to get my mileage in while it was only misting. Deviations from my calorie intake, though, are killing me. Impromptu dining-out has to go.

Is anyone else doing the FREE ERS Strava Group "Elevation Challenge" on Saturday, International Trails Day? If so, any clue as to what prizes will be awarded?

Morning all
I got in a pacier-than-ushe 10K. 6.24 miles at 08'25.
@Scott6255 Alaska sounds exciting! Post pics of those ginormous Alaskan crab legs!
And love that you're gonna be one of those ppl that do laps of the upper deck first thing in the morning while everyone's hungover and going to the windjammer breakfast buffet (to either overeat, or waste food that could feed a handful of African villages at a stroke! Lol). Sounds awesome!
@John772016 yes. 'Last of Us' was terrible. It started off so good too... With Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and that episode 2 killing.
And then after that... Just went 💩-ier and 💩-ier. Definitely not watching S3!
@John772016 @FranzNOTHans ba-hahahahaha laughing!
PS: Not the season for this discussion yet... But not a Christmas movie!

Nice running @emptydog .
@kgirlhart Great job at getting back into your early morning running routine. I think all new jobs are a bit overwhelming at first. I have a feeling you are going to be great at this one!
Since you love running in the rain, that sounds like a great run for you @ContraryMaryMary .
You're doing great @chris_in_cal .
Doing great @FranzNOTHans . Love the name change.
Oooo. Very speedy @tarun_yadavA .

First time runner and poster. I want a challenge that is doable!! So will pledge to myself 15 miles this month.

@ummleeban hello and welcome
@tarun_yadavA is that girlfriend pace? asking for a friend…..
@FranzNOTHans love the meme! Dang, doing my elevation on Sunday, Saturday is long run day.
@ContraryMaryMary love running in the rain too! Now if it only wasn't so cold here 😨
@kgirlhart I feel you about accounting. I switched from general to legal trust accounting and it took a bit of learning.
@emptydog @quilteryoyo @chris_in_cal nice runs!
So yesterday Garmin had me going for a Threshold run. Just couldn't get the legs and lungs going. RPE was probably a 9.5/10. Did make tempo pace. Apparently it was at boyfriend pace though 😂 what?@SummerSkier. The good news is that my pace is slowly slowly slowly getting a tad faster. Still need to loose about 20lbs to make life more manageable and not feel like a heart attack each threshold run. Anyone know where I can get new lungs? The old one is rather scarred apparently.

Swap days out! Followed you on Strava….

Nice runs @quilteryoyo, @emptydog, @kgirlhart, @ContraryMaryMary, @chris_in_cal, @FranzNOTHans (cool name change), @tarun_yadavA (nice pace!), @AlphaHowls, & @WarmJellyfish!
Nice test run @SummerSkier, hope you're on a quick mend!
Welcome @ummleeban!
I'm sure the transferrable skills you have will serve you well in the new job @kgirlhart! You'll pick of up the differences and rock it👍️
June:
01/06 & 02/06 - 0km / 0 miles
03/06 - 12.30km / 7.64 miles
04/06 - 8.19km / 5.09 milesTotal = 20.49km / 12.73 miles (Goal - 175Km / 108.74 miles)
Thought I headed out the door early enough, before the heat amped up, not quite! Was pushing a humid 27⁰C (it's 30⁰C now) during my run. Definitely the hottest day we've had so far. I was planning a longer run but cut it short.
Kept it at a faster pace than I had planned, it was definitely not a boyfriend/girlfriend/any friend/remote acquaintance/someone you barely tolerate/ run pace in this heat.
After I got home and rode the elevators, all the dogs loved me though. I must have been extra stinky and sweaty.
Really need to dig out the water bottles before the heat kicks in full time or plan all my runs through parks with water fountains!3 -
Nah, doesn't make sense to do 2000m elevation saturday then go do a 20k run on sunday, the legs will be shot then
