Lost 10.3 kg = 22.7 lbs since the beginning of January. Saturdays (like today) are usually my low day of the week. I'm 58 and want to go into my 60s being relatively slim and fit.

My husband has lost about the same too. He will be going into his 70s soon.

We simply burn more calories than we take in. CI<CO. Eat less, exercise more.

Because my job is sedentary, I try to get up and move when I can - climbing flights of stairs twice a day, walking at lunch, exercising on the weekend.

Meanwhile, my husband walks around the house and garden a lot during the day doing this and that.

Planted a whole bunch of spring bulbs.

I had planted Triteleia (Spring Stars) a couple weeks ago and Tulips about a week ago.

This week I put in Freesias and Hyacinths. I would like to get more Hyacinths, but they are expensive.

    I'm also trying Ranunculus.

Some are in baskets and some are in the ground.

Then I went for an evening walk.

Machka - I bet you would love cycling in the Maritimes. I have not been to NFLD, but would like to someday. I can picture you cycling on the same roads as Anne of Green Gables.

I have read all/most of the Anne of Green Gables series and that's one of the reasons I would like to go to the Maritimes. 😊

I hope the Oilers win too. I remember when they did way back when.

Tracey - Words just fail me. So many hugs for Kaitlyn and Brodey, you and Rodger.

Barbara - Sorry about the lumbar spine, but glad your hips have improved!

Lorna - So sorry about the AS, but the karate sure sounds like a good way to keep moving. Well done on your progress in karate, and the time with the boy is such a wonderful bonus! One of my prouder accomplishments was achieving a green belt in tae kwon do, when I weighed 275 pounds at the time. It was a century ago - but I loved the movement and the discipline.

Kylia - Thanks for the update on your granddaughter. The snakes still make me jump, but the adrenaline definitely drops a lot more quickly than when we moved here. The new format on MFP does keep us from putting photos in spoilers, it wasn't a mistake on your part.

Allie - Sorry the prednisone is messing wth you. Hope it does the trick.

No more updates from our Kim since my last post.

After last night's stinker of a headache (human barometer thing) I knew another front was coming in. Sure enough, big weather woke me about 2:30 a.m., thunderboomers, but they've moved off. The next round is coming in just after dawn, and at that point will be raining on me, my sister and Lynn's sister all the way over in Oklahoma.

Once I was a little awake, my brain started spinning out. My sleep schedule is just off at the moment, it will straighten up eventually. Got a lap full of kitty - she's not fond of noisy weather. Am just about to upset her by going to get my first cup of coffee made and get Corey's pot of coffee made for a rainy weekend morning. Favorite for both of us. My one single cup a day… I enjoy it with all my heart, too.

Before I head for the kitchen, the upshot of my doctor visit:

The doctor visit went well. No problem with him approving those of my drugs that he can, but the specialty drugs will still have to be approved by the VA hospital specialists. He was also quite reassuring about the cardio guys up at the VA hospital, said they don't have the capacity to do surgery up there, and somebody communicated badly about why they want to see me. Still not going to talk to them until my gastro guy does the EGD and checks my small intestines for possible bleeds.

Think I mentioned that the next six-month referral went through for my civilian gastroenterologist, so my Skyrizi is safely paid for, at least for another six months. One worry removed, anyway. Will talk to the gastro guy at my followup appointment about how long people stay on it. The tightrope I walk between the VA and the civilian health system has, at least so far, held me up…

Lastly - since the shot he gave me in my shoulder only helped for about a week, he's sending me for an MRI. Pretty sure it's a tear in either the rotator cuff or the labrum. Prescribing physical therapy for it, too, that should be interesting. It's possible the universe is telling me that I just need to get myself in the car and drive myself up to Fayetteville (about an hour away). I may not feel I'm ready, but the VA certainly believes I am.

    Later, my dearlings,
Hope it is or was a lovely Saturday,
Lisa, trying hard to develop web feet, in Arkansas

Elaine - Yeah… a little chaos-binding spit would indeed be helpful. If you saw my craft room at the moment, you'd know why!

Great job Barbie! I did a lot of weeding at my sisters place. Her dog Tucker and I drove the gator around and "lightly weeded" here and there. Tucker would lie on the soil I upturned! He also turned the lights on the gator when he was sitting in the seat next to me, that I was unaware of. So that afternoon the battery was almost dead. Oopsy!

Rebecca -looks like you had a great time visiting your sis, very happy for you. Glad you got to get some love from Tucker, lol. I am intrigued by that meadowfoam. Is it growing wild at your sister's or is it planted as a crop? I wonder if it would grow up here, I will check into it. I'm looking for things to plant (just seed scattering) back in the rubble under the powerline. I think I'm a month too late but have a stash of wildflowers seeds ready for next year.

Ginny - Glad to see you are perking along… busy, busy time for you. Would you like to be able to sell your place without going through the realtor whoop-te-do of open houses, etc. ? Regarding this back stuff, I'm going in for a lower back X-Ray in the next few days. I have a hunch there's some arthritis in there that might be contributing to back pain when sleeping and when I get out of bed that gets better with stretching. It looks like PT has helped to a point. Didn't get a shot yesterday, Dr. Lisa said Medical massage and/or chiropractic might help. I talked to a friend my age who had similar low back pain and her doc put her on Celebrex every night before she goes to bed - not sure if that's supposed to be a long term solution for her. I hope to avoid meds for as long as possible other than some OTC stuff now and then.

Barbie - nice planting bed! Hope you have lots of pumpkins. Do you eat them or use them for decoration or both?

Just for fun, I've been following Kevin Ashton on FB and YouTube. He has many short cooking videos. He's a chef for a sorority so most of his meals are prepared for 20 - 30 girls, but I've picked up some tips. I think he worked as chef at a large restaurant somewhere, not sure though. He had stage 4 cancer and is in remission - you can tell he loves what he does and he knows his stuff. Here's a video if interested.

I made Indiana kidney bean salad this morning so that and cottage cheese will be lunch today.

Lanette - yes, she’s a Berner and she’s as goofy as they come!

Rebecca - Tucker is sure a handsome boy! I’m sure it was easy to spend time snuggling with him as they are total lovebugs. When Lulu was little, you could rarely tell where she ended and my daughter began because they were completely attached! A weekly public tennis group sounds great. I, too, have some weight to lose before I can be nimble enough to even come close to being on a court with other people. Little by little…

Glad to hear that Kim is doing well.
