Precious photo.💖. Reminded me of my step father as he would walk around our home acreage, surveying the property, appreciating all his and my moms hard work. They had a big garden, even mounding the soil in long rows, with grass in between. It was an Asian thing. Then with his 40+ bonsai trees, the place was magical. He was just the man my mom needed after her and my dad divorced. They married in the Portland Rose gardens, and throughout their marriage he brought her a rose every Saturday at 10 am, (when they married).

    Men need their quiet time!

Glad you got your 10 hours! Cheering my mug to you!

So I was silly. Last Wednesday I bought my sister and I pizza at a great place in Anacortes Wa. It was a large and we each ate 2 pieces. Have more than half left over. I have bundles of 2 pieces stacked in the freezer. It will take me eons to finish. I planned a piece today for dinner. Its pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, tomato and black olives and big slices so 300+ for a slice according to this site. I just used Domino's even though its better than Domino's. They're wrapped in foil. They should last a month or 5 right?

Ezie will be 9 in Sept. The wetlands starts right across the street from her school. They did a walking field trip there a few weeks ago and she came home telling about the salt marsh field mouse and the pickle weed that they eat. I was impressed that she learned and remembered so much about it. She even asked me if I had seen the pickleweed and if it was still green or if it had turned red yet.

Stayed home from church and watching it online today.
DH is at a toy show with his friend(customers, not sellers, though he does have plenty he should start selling so he doesn't take over even more of the house-already took son's room along with his own room). I am taking advantage of the house to myself so getting chores done that I have been putting off.
Taking a quick tea break before starting the next one. Next is clearing off the kitchen table and going through all the snacks that have piled up. If I am not going to eat them, or dh or ds(I can drop some off for him if I find ones he would like) the rest are getting dumped. DH said there is nothing there he will eat. I need to do better at tossing stuff

Sipping my favorite tea ever! In a large insulated cup put some pure lemon juice in, just to cover the bottom, then sprinkle in some sugar free lemonade mix of your choice. Next add two tsp of honey, and mix with a long spoon. Lastly, add a mint tea bag and a peach tea bag. Fill up with boiling water and seep, stirring well. Its just such an enjoyment!

I love the picture. It reminds me so much of where my dad used to always sit when it was a warm day. He had a bench that looks very similar and it was under a big tree next to their little pond. Now, that is where David, the guy that is living at mom's(was in the room mates trailer until she left with the trailer, leaving the guy homeless)spends many hours, talking on his cell phone to his family back in Mexico.
That is the one spot on the property that I can almost always send a text. Many other areas on the property I cant. I can't send pictures in texts anywhere there(but I can send them on FB)

Debbie I remember those hard plastic rollers, and even worse, the ones that looked like a net covered spring with brushes poking through. Yuck. How much does your mini chainsaw way? What model is it? I’ve been wanting one but fear my wrists are too weak to manage one.

Lisa, so thankful to hear the Skyrizi worry has been lifted for another while, and that you’re holding the cardiologist off til after the GI test results. You model for us how to champion for our own health. Love love love the pic of Corey and Egg in their favorite spot.

Tina good to hear from you! Your DH is able to walk two miles a day with a screw working loose in his ankle? How soon can he get in for the second opinion? 4 months to see a surgeon would be expectable here in the rural wilds, but thought you were in a more urban location. Too much time too close together can really up the annoyance factor. ((hugs)) Con VERY grats on taking off the weight and fitting into former clothes.

Tracey what horrible choices for Lauryn’s friend. Injury so severe the surgeons won’t even try to address. (cry) Is “Maid” the Canadian equivalent of total disability/Medicaid here in the US? Started watching Good Night, Good Luck. It looks to be very absorbing. I remember watching Edward R Murrow on TV in the 50s.. We need him and Walter Cronkite too.

Heather writing about the box of books you can’t let go, sounds like inspiration to me ;)

Allie you’re right. Wacky sleep will drive you nuts. ((hugs))

Carol hope you can get in to see Dr. soon. What Beth said about a new Dr. to manage your depression better, ((hugs))

Lanette, yes I told the GP. about the COMB study and supplements when the oral surgeon took me off the alendronate. GP wanted to put me on HRT, but I said NO! due my family history of breast cancer (bio mom twice twenty years apart, half sister 3 different kinds at once.) COMB was my best counter offer. We’ll see. Winco’s bulk (deluxe mixed) nuts are the best, and the worst ;} I have to limit macadamia nut consumption to the 8-10 g range when I have pineapple and yoghurt for breakfast.

Rita love Lucy’s radar ears and Wicket’s picture of tolerance ;)

Rebecca thanks! Does it smell good in the field?

Lynn smooooch that pooch! Con VERY grats for that healthy switch, the 11 lbs gone is your reward.

Church, dogs to powerline meadow, watered parking area plants, amazed to see some sweet peas sprouted up despite neglect. Been working on components for pasta e fageoli at Tuesday’s casserole-a-thon. Soaked 3.25 lbs of small white beans Wednesday. Made Garlic toasts (and croutons for Lutheran Grief casserole) and boiled beans Thursday. Froze cooled beans in thirds Friday. Saturday reduced bean water by half. Sunday sautéed onions, garlic, seasoned with salt, pepper, cinnamon, divided into fourths with bean water for freezing. Will schlep it all to the church kitchen Tuesday and hope my guesstimated quantities are good enough to fill the four baking pans. Pastor’s wife will bring the parmesan cheese. I really like finding ways to use donated foods, in this case 8 day old loaves of French bread, boxes of elbow macaroni and a big ol’ jar of small white beans. Wonder what else is in the pantry for next month?

    Later, lighter, lovelies!

Tracey: So sad for Kaitlyn and Bridget. We Mamas never stop caring for our babies.

I’m going for my booster jab this morning, then I have my Monday Painters Group after lunch. DH is going out with his birdwatching group, so I’ll have a quiet morning.

Gotta go start my day 😂

A bit disappointed and frustrated with myself today. Despite not being hungry, the last 3 late evenings I’ve found myself snacking on some of the less than ideal foods now in the house since my daughter is home for the summer. Oh, to have the metabolism of an 18yo again! Just too easy to fall back into those old habits that got me to this unhealthy place.

Hoping for a mental reset today. A nice veggie scramble with eggs and egg whites paired with mixed berries for breakfast, ground turkey thawing for stuffed peppers for dinner, and lots of good options on hand for the time in between to keep myself on track. But those stupid hours between dinner and bedtime continue to be my weakest time.

Would love to hear how some of you manage those witching hours and stay on track…

Tina, don’t be jealous of my weather! Sun and 105 degrees yesterday!

My DH and our friend K were outside last evening and say they saw a UFO! Here is the short video. They asked that I report it to MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), which I did. I don’t know, looks like Elon’s satellites to me: Not sure if this will work: file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/4d/13/4DCDCF3E-CAE0-4C76-ACA5-D715FDD6A0B6/IMG_5324.mov

    Thought for today:

I remember the first time I saw a Universal Remote—

I thought “well, this will change everything!”

DH talked to the owner of the care home. Seems she was just having a really bad day, She is NOT planning on selling the home. One less stressor for dh.
I have no idea what all is going on with dh. His behavior has been pretty much the same for many year but he has been dealing with his mom's need for help for 5 yrs as of tomorrow when she had her first fall, second fall was two days later which started the 24/7 with her then reduced to 2 times every day. Finally now that she is in the care home he only goes a couple times a week and only when he wants. Not on the set times she had for him- 10AM and 4PM

He has grown even more self centered over the years. He thinks of himself only.

Had a very peaceful day yesterday. DH went to a toy show with his friend- he bought 4 model kits and talked to some vendors about some original Japanese Pokemon cards(before they were actually called Pokemon) that his uncle had sent him. He found the boxes of them when we were cleaning out more of his mom's house. They are very rare so thinking about selling them.
I spent the day doing chores on my list- A lot of work but felt great when I got done. No, he didn't notice any of it when he got home. Just went straight to his second room(son's room) and laid down and watched a movie until around 2AM I think.

Stripped the bed completely including the waterproof mattress cover, washed everything. Fixed the memory foam topper that had slipped down and was bugging me.
Folded and put away a huge pile of my clothes that had piled up for too long.
Washed, folded and put away 3 loads of laundry,
    Made and filled hummingbird feeders
Tried to clear off the kitchen table- toooooo many snacks piled up. I did toss quite a bit but still too much. DH did say he didn't realize he had some of the snacks that are now organized and not just piled.
NO more buying snacks until we go through what we have.

This morning I need to go pick my raspberries before the Mockingbirds eat them all
I have been enjoying taking my cup of tea with me to the front and picking, and eating them. Can't get any fresher.
I also need to dead head my roses and water the front garden. Hoping to give away all the rest of my tomato starts so I will have one less thing to water.

Not sure what dh has planned for today- he is still sleeping.

Just realized, I haven't watched tv for about a week now. I really enjoy the quiet. DH is just the opposite. He will have the tv on loud and have a Reels video on his phone at the same time.

Made a pot of coffee for the first time in the old percolator coffee pot that was MIL's. Smells really good. Dh can have coffee when he gets up. Glad I found the cord to it- it was in a totally different spot than the coffee pot was-in a pile of cords

Tea is about done and I want to get a few things done before he gets up and my quiet time is over.

Zumba tonight- Aqua starts next Friday night. Looking forward to it.

Plan on starting back tracking my food again. Have been terrible about it the past few months.

this is the one I bought for myself(not available right now). It isn't very heavy. I was able to use it even with my tennis elbow still acting up. I like that it has two batteries with it though, I haven't needed both yet. I think I would give out before the battery did.

I bought another one that had a bit smaller blade on it for former hubby for Christmas that he really likes.
I like the larger blade but depends on what you are cutting if you need it bigger.

Amazon has a LOT to pick from

Made very quick work of all the things I was cutting- Kind of looking for what else I can cut.
In the fall I will use it and the long electric pole saw to cut back the plum tree and also cut all the jasmine out of the tree.

I seem to remember mom using those other rollers once- my hair is super curly so they were terrible to get out. I also remember the sponge ones. They were comfy but just made my hair even curlier(but more evenly curled)

I like "shopping in mom's pantry" when I make meals for us when I visit to go with what ever I bring up. She helps at the food bank/program every Saturday and gets a box of things-one Saturday a month they give a second box to seniors. She doesn't cook much for herself anymore so I like to make extras for her for her freezer. She enjoys the meals and says she doesn't think about making some things when it is just her.
Last time, I brought up a huge jar of Pace mild salsa. Grabbed a pack of chicken legs from her freezer she had gotten at the food program. Simmered them down for a few hours- boned out the chicken, added it back to the sauce, added a can of corn and a can of black beans(both from FP) and let it simmer down a few more hours while we worked in the garden. Was great to come in at 9PM after working most of the day and having dinner ready. That with a simple salad I had brought. She had two helpings-said she didn't realize how hungry she was.

    Hey kids,

Back inside, cooling down. Stopped a bit early, as I ripped the tire right off the hub on my trailer. Again. 😂🤔😲 I'm hard on yard equipment, I'm afraid. Need to get Corey to teach me how to weld anyway, maybe this weekend!

I hauled three big loads of brush, and on the third one, the tire just fell right off halfway to the brushpile (swear!). Oh well. There was still a lot to do, but sometimes the universe tells you to sit down, you know? Paid attention for a change.

Tomorrow I'll try to figure out a way to get the rest of it to the brushpile or alternatively, burn it where it sits. I'd rather not, but I'll talk to Corey. Unfortunately, our little tractor just isn't really set up to haul loads of brush for long distances. There is always a way.

Tina - I understand your mister's reluctance to drop back a step on the healing - the thought of a screw loose in an ankle is a bit unnerving, though. I did the same thing, got a battery string trimmer that I could handle. Corey's is massive, and gas-powered, essentially unusable for me.

Rebecca - So glad your youngest is doing better!

Lynn - I gave in to the witching hour rather than fighting with it, because I found that I sleep better with a little food in me. I save calories to eat a piece of string cheese or two and five saltines. Satisfies crunch, salt, protein and the carbs that help me sleep. I'm going to eat - I just need to keep it reasonable.

Please note - a lot of people freak out because a bit of salt will add some water weight, but it always comes off again… and if you can get yourself to look at your weekly average weight instead of what it says each morning, that's a big roller coaster gone from your life.

Chowing down on my first meal of the day, I've developed an odd craving for ham and swiss lately. It's good protein and tastes amazing.

Will jump in the shower shortly, and then settle in front of some Midsomer Murders with my current crochet project.

    Love y'all,
    Lisa in AR
