Tracey, so sorry to hear Kaitlyn and Brody’s bad news. I was wondering the same thing that Mo mentioned, have they considered a donor egg? More big bucks but could be the result they are hoping for.

Debbie, glad to hear MIL care home operator was just having a bad day, but it’s really not fair of her to dump her problems on other people’s families!

Heather, your table settings always look so lovely! Glad you had a good visit with Sue and that your son was able to get rid of a bunch of stuff for you. Just curious, do you have electronics recycling there? We do and can take it to a conveniently located yard for free.

Lisa, love the pic of Corey and Egg. I can certainly understand how that view (and the cat!) would be relaxing. You two certainly picked the right spot. I know you both have worked very hard to get it to where it is now but you must feel so satisfied when you see how far it’s all come. Thanks for the update on Kim, continuing the good thoughts for her.

I’m sure there were many more comments that I wanted to make, but memory is such a fleeting thing…..lol!

I’m excited as I am scheduled to have the nail on my right foot removed on Thursday. I’m so pleased with how well my left foot is healing, even managed to go for a walk with my friend yesterday. We were almost at our usual turn around spot when our way was blocked by a rather large tree that had broken and fallen over the trail. We decided not to go bush crashing even tho others were. We were just so close to the end, didn’t figure it was worth risking the spiders, lol. It was a good walk, but it’ll be another three weeks before I can do that again, takes a couple weeks for the toe to heal enough to be able to put on socks and shoes. I was wearing flip flops in the house and ended up with a couple blisters which quite surprised me, they’d never bothered me before. Oh well, now it’s wearing socks with the toe cut off so that the wound can breathe. But my feet get cold…..sigh. Short term pain but long term gain is what I keep telling myself, it works most of the time.

Okay, enough of this novel. Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the new gals!

Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - Average WT down to 132.0 from 132.5 yippee! Average steps dipped down to 6146 from last week's 7331, boo hiss. Ps@2s habit still solid. AF days 100% first week in June, will wonders never cease?

Blew it yesterday with a can of Mac & Jacks.  Usually drink AF beer at home, was surprised at how strong the African Amber Ale was. Whoo!

Sue in WA - Still at 232 for the week. Weight went down a couple of pounds but went back up with a high sodium meal yesterday. I really struggled trying to get protein in this week. Only met my goal on one day. Only went to YM one day last week, spent too much time waiting for plumber to get water heater installed. Sue in WA

Lanette in SW WA – Weight has slipped over desired range, likely due to after supper snacking on salty stuff – nuts mostly. I went back over notes I took when on the diabetes prevention program last year, was reminded that a couple 14 – 16 hour “fasts” per week really helped with weight loss even if I went a little overboard the night before. Average daily steps 8772 – up a lot from last week due to mowing, yardwork, carrying water for flowers and veggie plants. Walking at sunrise every morning on the little private road about ¾ mile in 15 minutes. Still walking with weights 2 or 3 times a day after meals, carrying 10# for a lap most days.

Evie and others who have asked - the 'dump' that my son took all the electrical stuff to, plus loads of other stuff, is a big recycling centre. They have every kind of category for our rubbish, including a shop for selling good stuff. It does take time to put everything into the correct section, but it's a worthwhile activity. I love those places, but we are getting a bit old for heaving big microwaves etc around. I am over the moon that my son took that job on for us.

Bea pick up tomorrow. We don't need to because Edie can't go to her cello lesson with her broken wrist, but Bea, and we, would miss it too much, as we love seeing the family. DDIL is going to take Edie off for a one-to-one walk and a treat. Bea loves her 'Johnny' time.

Hey! I missed you all! There's no good reason why I disappeared. Dad is fine, but slowly getting worse. He asks me more questions about what day it is.

I have tendonitis on my foot so it's in a walking boot for now. So my plan to restart my fitness and diet is going to be a slow start. But that's probably a good thing.

So I hope you all are doing well, and I look forward to jumping back in.

Youngest son admitted that when he first started paperwork for Navy separation, it hit him a bit. But this procedure will take months and months, so its not just signing a paper and packing a bag home. He volunteered at a horse therapy place, the other weekend. So he's doing all the right things to help himself cope.💖😁

Carla- the cards look nice. That's never been my cup of tea, but I have several friends who love it.

Rebecca - I know this is not the same as your son, but I have a grand nephew who is autistic - didn't get potty trained until almost ten, very few verbal expressions, very little eye contact. Niece kept working with him, got him in appropriate schools (Maryland evidently has excellent programs). Anyway, the he graduated from high school at 20 (a wiz on computer stuff), he got a job working on a farm with horses. It has brought him more out of his shell. Horse therapy is great and I think it helps the people caring for the horses as much as those coming to visit them. We love the people who work with our boy and help him feel useful. I think it is great your son is volunteering for something that helps so many children(and adults)

Hi ladies, I am back.

It's late. I left my home to run some light errands. I took Rose with me because she had been chomping at the bit to go "bye-bye." So, we went to the post office because Stitch Fix didn't believe I needed a smaller size and sent me clothes that were cute but too big and expensive. I kept the red top that fit pretty well. Then, I had to go to Old Navy to return some dresses because they were also too big. One T-shirt I gave to my patient because it was a kid's size. I buy clothes and stuff for the kids anyway. Then, I got to gossip with my neighbor. She told me about her professional family. My kids or young adults are still trying to be adults, or at least they think they are. My son always loved to read; that was always his joy. He also loves TV shows. So, he doesn't want to work in the medical field because that stresses him out. He wants to write books and write for TV, but AI is taking over. They are using artificial intelligence to automate jobs. So, who knows what direction he will go? He does like his teaching gig. DD and her future husband (her projection, not mine.) They need to buckle down and obtain certification in their area of interest. Julia loves caring for people, while future SIL likes construction and even cuts his hair to look more "Professional." I say, get certified in a trade for job security. I need someone handy in the family. DH hires people to cut the grass. Without a job, he needs to cut that out. I suppose that's why I need to move, so that will no longer be an issue. My neighbor thinks I should become a nurse practitioner, but I only plan to work for 8-10 more years. If my new job covers the cost of my education, I may consider it. I love being at the bedside more.

Rebecca, you mentioned peach tea. That has been my obsession lately. I love it! I sweeten it with a Sunkist sugar-free peach drink mix packet and a sugar-free Welch's peach/strawberry drink mix; it's so good. I also love orange spice tea, and I use orange drink mix to sweeten it. It is sugar-free, so it tastes great and doesn't spike my blood sugar. Moreover, I am getting my fluids in. Tea relaxes me; I usually like creamer in my tea with Sweet N Low. Peppermint tea is also good.

I made an omelet with one egg and 1/8 cup of egg whites. My co-worker suggested it, and I loved it. I added some Pico de Gallo to it, along with spinach, onion, and half a serving of cheese. It was so good and filling that I was full till dinner. I am ready to have pool time soon.

Lisa, good for you for listening to the universe. Let "Egg" teach you how to relax.😛 I get relaxed just watching cats.

Barbara, this is a great way to incorporate physical activity into your busy schedule. Have you ever done water exercise? It demands less on your joints.

Debbie, perhaps you could convert your DS's old room into a bedroom and den for DH. Then, turn your bedroom into a cozy space and add a chair for reading and crafts (if you enjoy doing that). Then enjoy your peace. I prefer being in my bedroom to downstairs. I have two desks, one for my computer and another for coloring and scrapbooking. Downstairs, I have a puzzle in progress. DH was a little disturbed by my decor and rearranged things, but I put them back where they were. I work out downstairs, too. I tend to snack less in my room—just a thought.

Annie, I just read your post, and I feel like crying. I'm so glad you're okay and back. I was so worried about you. I agree with Lisa that we should reach out to someone in our MFP group.

Now, I am wondering how Vicki in Nebraska is doing with her new job. I hope all is well with her.

Hey kidlings,

Waiting just until 7 a.m. so the little grocery store with gas pumps will be open - I'll road the little tractor down and fill up the tank. Easier to drive it than deal with five-gallon jugs filled with diesel fuel in my little car!

Then more brush hauling - talked it over with Corey, and with a little paracord and some combined Alaskan/Texan ingenuity, I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to haul some big tree limbs with it. 😹😲🐈‍⬛

Hmm… I wonder if my orthotics will fit in my rubber boots? 😲😹😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh - and Barbie, well done when you get those fence panels cleaned the way you want them. Don't you love it when a plan works? 🥰

Quiet Time: When I get home after work … and before I start all the "home" jobs I need to do in the evenings, I take Rhody for a walk outside. Lately, it's been pitch black so I've been standing out there staring up at the stars … while Rhody looks for his girlfriend.

I kind of need that quiet time after work.

Salt: When I cut way back in 2015 (and lost weight), I craved salt. We all need a certain amount of salt in our diets and by cutting back, I was eating a lot of food without salt. So I started eating salted cottage cheese with a dill pickle or two. That was enough for me.

Funny thing was that a few months later, we had a trip to Canada, and I decided to buy and eat a bag of potato chips because I was on a diet break. I could hardly get through it … so incredibly salty!!! 🤢

Today I did cottage cheese with a few olives.

For crunch, I eat seeds.

Eating in the evenings: We usually have dinner between about 6:30 and 7:30 pm. Today, I had my swimming lesson after work and then friends dropped by to pick something up, and we didn't end up eating dinner till about 8:30 pm. Then do a whole bunch of stuff and try to go to bed by midnight … so there isn't really time to be hungry after dinner.

Occasionally, however, I will have a thin slice of cheese, a small handful of seeds, or spoonful of raw honey.

Decluttering and Minimal Living: In 2004, I went through all my stuff and gave away or threw out at least a third of it. I quit my job, gave up my apartment, and put what remained into storage. Then I spent the next 3 months cycling around Australia. When I returned to Canada, I went to university and got my Bachelor of Education.

In 2009, I got everything out of storage, went through all my stuff and gave away or threw out at least a third of it. I got it down to 300 cubic feet. That's like a room that's 8 feet tall (standard room height), with a length of 8.5 feet and a width of 4.4 feet. Like maybe a bathroom. All my stuff would have fit in a bathroom. I moved to Australia with a bicycle in a box and a suitcase. About a year later, my 300 cubic feet of stuff followed me. In that year, my brand new husband and I lived in a cabin at the back of the property where he worked, at least 2 km from "the grid". Rustic! A bushfire had come through and had taken all the other options, including the place he had set up for my arrival.

In 2012, everything went into storage again so that we could tour the world (several countries) with our bicycles. The picture below shows everything we had with us for the 8 months on the road. Well, almost 8 months. We borrowed my parents van for the 6-week US portion of the trip.

Mine is the blue bicycle.

And last year, when we moved into our current house, we got rid of quite a bit of stuff. It's amazing how it accumulates when you sit still for a bit!

Even so, I spent this past weekend starting to go through the garage where a lot of things got dumped when we moved. I'm hoping even more stuff will go.

I also emptied out the fridge … one large bag of "dead" food.
