Good evening all:
I have been reading along but haven't felt like commenting alot.
Pip - thinking of you and Kirby. Thank you so much for sharing Yogi with us-he is a special dog
Debbie - I'm sure things are difficult for your DH right now. It is not uncommon for us to wonder if things could've been different. It seems he tried his best to help her. I hope the two you can find some peace with each other. Hope your sister improves.
Allie-I also wonder why you are having a kidney biopsy.
Annie - just keep plugging along and looking at alternatives.
Barbie - good job on the fence!
Kim - sorry packing removal didn't go as you had hoped. You are doing great in your recovery. Don't try to do too much for your mom.
Rita -I do not miss my husband's moods at all. I got to the point that when he would go off on his rants I would not respond unless I could think of something that would help the situation. I usually couldn't and since I didn't give him any fuel, he sputtered out.
As Kylia said, we had some more wild storms- my area not hit as hard as her. Very few people in my county lost power and no large damage.
Health stuff:
Saw Endo and oncologist Wednesday. Endo was delighted tumor marker has dropped to 8.4 (from pervious 44.8).No doubt some thyroid cancer cells hanging out somewhere but can't see activity yet. More scans and bloodwork in October.
Met with Oncologist for first time. Told him we had scheduled appointment priorate knowing surgery was an option because I wanted more of a sense of what future options may be. He said looking at my chart they should do a paper on me with how I have continued so long in good health except for the cancer. He said what they find frustrating is everyone's biology is different and the cancers really impact them differently. Anyway, he will be monitoring me. He said he hope he never has to administer any of the drugs to me. Surgery will still be preferred. Raditation second. Therapeutic drugs last.
Went to NP today for back/ribs. Lack of sleep getting to me. Gave me a med dose packet see if we can get inflammation taken care of and ease things. Ordering Mri to get better picture ofwhat is going on with my spine. She said she does not mind making a referral to doc or physical therapy for me in Columbus to speed things up.I really like her-wish she was going with me!
Going to go take steroid dose before bed. Hope I get some sleep with no pain. Go to Columbus and sign lease tomorrow!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

(((Pip and Kirby))) I'm tearing up thinking of your painful loss.
((Kim)) Stay strong and keep smiling. You will start to get better every day in every way.
Mars chased a fox around our building today. It all happened so fast and my heart was in my throat when they went around a curve and I couldn't catch up right away. Thankfully, the fox hightailed across the street and my feisty cat can only sprint so far. But he did look very proud of himself.
Love and energy to a) who need it. Stay well friends. We can do this.

PiP - Sending my very best wishes for today. You are such loving parents and Yogi knows it. 💔 The memorial is lovely.
I'm about to set off to the nearest charity shop with more china and other bits. Too hot to go later. I hope they are open as it's a bit of a shambles there. I wouldn't give them my best stuff. I take it in my shopping trolley.
Tonight is a rare outing to a jazz gig. 6 pm. We will have a, very early, light Tricolore Salad. And then something small afterwards. I get hypo if I don't eat regularly, so waiting to eat is not an option. The venue is at a church in Hove, so easy to get to. The bus stops outside. Too hot to walk.

Good. Pleased with self. I washed my hair and went out, early, without makeup, to beat the heat. It's turned super sticky. 😩 I even carried a tiny sling bag, with almost nothing in it! (My bag normally has everything in it.) Dumped a whole lot of quite good stuff at the charity shop, including the necklace and earrings I wore for my first wedding in 1970. They are Indian silver. Hippy, hippy, shake. 😃
Then I made a detour to the deli, and picked up all the things John never thinks of. Spent the usual fortune. 🙄
Oh, and I put a load of laundry in. Delicates, including my favourite heatwave pants. Lovely and loose and light. I've had them for ever!
I'm pleased because I have been in quite a lot of discomfort recently from my back, so haven't felt much like carrying, or pulling stuff around. I've been doing gentle back exercises, and it's feeling much better. I know it's important to keep moving, but pain is so debilitating. Saps your 'get up and go.'
So, now I can relax and drink my iced coffee. Yum!

The power is back on! And yes, I am thankful and grateful to be in a position to have a whole home generator! The only regret…the main unit should have been further from the house. It is really noisy when running. It is louder than a portable one! Our placement was based on the cost of wire as well as the ease of installation. No trenches were required nor did we have to tear up concrete. Noise vs power....I will take power.
Pip- We are all hurting with you. Please feel our hugs 🫂 as you help Yogi to run pain-free again. You and Kirby are great pet parents.
Allie- WOW! That happened to my brother's wife's sister. She had accepted that she would only be a fur baby mom when she found out she was pregnant at 40. A is now 21!
Today is the first day of summer! Happy that the daylight is long. Sad that now it gets less everyday. I need to move closer to the hemisphere!
Tracey- I like the idea of MAID. I will say that for whatever reason I was reminded of the movie "Soylent Green". Minus the ending knowledge, the idea of letting people suffering to not continue to suffer appeals to me. It is not a decision made lightly nor for everyone, but the fact that the option is available is nice. Prayers for the friend.
Debbie and Rita-Prayers for you both as your husbands navigate this next stage in their lives. Please continue to take care of yourselves.
Ginny- Yay on your lease and the doctor's reports!
For me....I will keep on trucking along the best I can. I will be grateful for quiet power, air conditioning for the summer (okay, I would be fine with fans and open windows, but then DH wouldn't so my life would be miserable), good food to fuel my body, purring kittens to calm my soul, and great friends that I rarely see that are the rudder that helps keep me stable.
Much love,
Kylia in Ohio where summer temps are finally arriving

Good morning my friends!
Pip Many warm hugs for you and Kirby. Such a crushing ordeal.
Kylia we are happy for the successful eye surgery, and that the generator saved the day. Yay! And Yay for the power back on!
Barbie Yay for finishing the fence! I need to work on my nasty railing...I have a laptop I only use for Zoom. When I shut it off, it asks me if I want to do updates first.
Rita Yay for uplifting puppies! I bought Teddy to help with my depression.
Rebecca Yay for eating smart! 16.2 pounds! Fantastic! You have figured out the plan!
Barbara yes I'm taking 5000 D3 with K2. My calcium has more D3 in it. I will have to adjust when I buy it again…I have pain mostly when I take an awkward step, and if I am out more than fifteen minutes. No PT yet. I'm a believer in PT but I don't see yet how I could bring my Dad. Eventually he will walk off. …Does group leading bring me joy? Hmmures. good question. I do like writing....and muscle mass is a wonderful thing!
Debbie I'm sorry to hear about your MIL. Mixed feelings are normal and fine. I had a lot of relief when my mother died of cancer…that weighted vest looks intriguing! Maybe when my foot is better.
Rosemarie yes I am afraid of more fractures. My fear is that my bones are not strong enough for my weight, but the fractures will keep me from exercising. …Good luck with your Mom. Hope she finds a great place...Yay for writing! I almost did a writing retreat but cancelled right as COVID started. Hope you find a good group.
Lisa I'm sure you have heard this, but be careful with that heat! I used to put my head under the faucet and run cold water over my hair so I could go longer. Or when I rode horseback in summer I had an ice chest with cold washcloths for my neck. They make neck cooler thingies too....
Ginny wishing you (and all of us) a good night's sleep... I'm just catching on- thyroid cancer? Such a journey. But it sounds like it's getting better so that's terrific. Hugs for you.
Heather jazz is for the cool people! You are so cool! And another excellent exerciser!
Yesterday's BBQ restaurant was okay diet wise, mostly because my fries were cold. No problem. I had pulled pork and cornbread and iced tea. Then I was full so I had a quarter cup of black beans for dinner. Yay for me for recognizing being full! That is very unusual for me.
We had a lovely time with three friends, one of whom runs a writing group in a library. She made a strong case for me to try it, partly because the library takes care of many admin tasks. I think I will go by the library today. Exciting!
May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

😀 Yesterday Annie got to play with her friend, Danny, a three year old herding dog. They chase and frolic in my fenced yard. Annie is willing to share her watering can of drinking water with him. They are a good match in size, strength, and energy. Unfortunately they have their house on the market with plans to move to an assisted living place that will miraculously allow Danny to live there.
😀 I noticed yesterday when I was watering, that I walk sideways and backwards a lot while watering. The same is true with line dancing which is on the schedule for this morning.
😀 I cleared off another shelf yesterday. I'll do more indoors when gardening season is over and after Jake's kids visit and go through a lot of stuff that I've set aside for them to look at.

morning peeps-
I was up with yogi most of the night. He was panting and couldn’t figure out how to lay down comfortably. We are definitely making the right decision to put him down. Last night he gave him an extra dose of sedative medication which didn’t seem to help. A pic I took of him yesterday after I was brushing him. Of course I stayed away from the side that had his bump.
He will be free of pain today. Kirby is making him bacon to go with his breakfast.

Pip … so very sorry that it's time to say goodbye to Yogi. He's a beautiful dog that you have loved so very, very well. Thinking of you today and the days ahead. Hugs.
Debbie … both you and your husband are going through a lot right now. Praying when the dust settles that you can rediscover each other.
Ginny … wonderful news that your cancer markers have dropped! Hoping you find a workable cause for the back pain and lack of sleep.
Kim … healing is not linear. My kids and I used to sing a little song when they were younger … one of the lyrics was "God, hurry up and give me patience!"
Annie … how long do you have to wear the boot?
Just a quick drop in … I'll check back in later.

Pip and Kirby… Sending all my love to you and Yogi. Crying here. Beautiful memorial. I'll be thinking about you today. My heart is breaking for you, but know you're doing what's best for your lovely baby. Soon he'll have his wings and be completely healed. 💔❤️💔

Pip, Yogi's tongue looks like he is hiding a heart in his mouth. I fell in love with that water baby. I will miss him. I want him free of pain. Sending love to Yogi, her adopted siblings, you, and Kirby. Good-bye, sweet baby.

Made picture a bit bigger today to soothe those who will be going through the heat wave and for Yogi comfort.
I cut all buds off peony plant yesterday. We will have a heat index of 106 and 70%humidity. It will be like living in the tropics for a couple of days. Peonies like it cool. The buds that were tight I put in refrigerator will see if I can get blooms after the ones in picture go!

Good morning Ladies!
I have a lot to catch up on I see. Internet was down yesterday afternoon - I'd planned to catch up then but it was not meant to be. At least the power wasn't out (like Kylia's experience!) Got WiFi back about 4:30 but by then had other chores to tend to.
I have a story about Crocs, Equilibrium/balance and lower back pain. It's a long story, but stay tuned. I'm on the go this morning so plan to be back this afternoon.
Hugs to those of you who need them today.

Pip smooch that pooch one more time for me. 😪 💞 ((hugs))
Debbie what did the MD prescribe for the LDL? Prayers for your DH during this difficult time. And for you. ((hugs)) That weighted vest, hmm, might be just what my lumbar vertebrae need to strengthen themselves…Thanks!
Mo “…common sense is promised to no one…” Truth, this.
Rosemarie a retreat to coastal Italy or Greece sounds wonderful. First comes the dream, then the plan, then the reality. Rooting for you!
Lisa thankful that Egg is your medic-alert cat.
Kylia thanks for checking on Ginny. That’s a long time for you to be without power!
Ginny praying you get some pain relief and restorative sleep. Glad you have an NP you trust and like.
Allie what a surprise! Prayer said for Tracey and family.
Rori that Mars is some cat!
Heather you are so right about the vicious cyle of pain preventing us from doing the activities that will relieve it. Glad you’re feeling batter!
Annie Yay for the D3&K2! would any of your Dad’s church friends be able to sit with him when you went to PT appointments? Self-care is so very crucial in your situation.
Barbie thanks for the reminder about line dancing and backwards movement. Yay us!
Beth “… hurry up and give me patience…” made me laugh. I stopped asking for patience when I figured out God gave me opportunities to learn it every time I asked…
Margaret fingers X’d for your peony buds.
Rebecca grey and foggy here today, like at yours, sky is sad for Yogi, Pip and Kirby.
Lanette looking forward to your Crocs, equilibrium and balance story.
Sweet solstice everyone!
Later, lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMODJune focus: Just one thing from the OMG room
2025: Chose NOW: to move more than yesterday (5 sit to stands every potty break no excuses), fuel better than yesterday (hold that after dinner sweet down to two pieces of dark chocolate max), open heart and mind before mouth4 -
DH settled down after I asked him if he needed to go to the doctor. He asked why, I told him. Apparently, he never realized what he was doing. Glad I said something.
Had a headache all week. Nasty today so no walk in the morning. It will be too hot later. Maybe in the evening? We will see.
Lucy defies any effort to stop her from climbing on the bed, so we gave up last night. She was good so it looks like she has graduated to the bed. There is a pee-pad on the floor within easy reach for her. She used it during the night last night then got back on the bed. I swear that dog knows how to fly!
Gotta get dressed. Going to town today with DH. He want to each fast food today. (sigh) I really had that stuff….
Rita -I do not miss my husband's moods at all. I got to the point that when he would go off on his rants I would not respond unless I could think of something that would help the situation. I usually couldn't and since I didn't give him any fuel, he sputtered out.

Ginny, I do the same thing. I ignore him until he just runs out of 'mad'. No fuel, nothing to rant about! Works for me. Its just that he actually punched the fridge last time. Made me worry about if he progressively gets worse. I'm not sure I want to deal with the anger.
Thought for the day:
I just built an ATM that only gives out coins.
I don’t know why no one’s thought of it before: it just makes cents!

I think it's been a couple, few years. I think this is the forum I spoke on for so many years. I saw a few familiar names. Well recently I've become fatter than fat so I've been at it for 3 weeks. I've lost 6 pounds so far and it isn't water weight because I took a water pill and logged my starting weight after my water was depleted. Getting too old to yo yo diet, will be 66 on Sunday.
Still have the horses and dogs and husband. My 24 year old son is still at home. He makes beats for rappers and finality has some big songs and albums out so he'll probably make enough money this year to consider getting his own place. My 46 year old son has returned home after a 19 year relationship. My 25 year old daughter does classic car restoration and my 30 year old is moving to new York next month (we are in Chicago.) Who was it that also had a standard poodle? Mine died last month at 14 and a half. Pretty good since I'd never considered him a health dog. I now have a beast called a golden mountain doodle but he is in fact mostly a beenedoodle since he only has 1/8th golden retriever.
Well enough from me. Let's see if I can lose 30 pounds and keep it off this time! I don't know why it put my picture in the middle.
(I hope this is in the over 50 group. I think i played it in la la land earlier. )

😀 Cheryl, the minute I saw your name, I remembered you on your horse. It's so good to have you back with us. I might the one you remember with a poodle. My beloved red poodle, Sasha, died in 2022 just before her 15th birthday. I grieved her for a long time. My husband wanted another dog and last year we got Annie from the Humane Society. My husband died in December leaving me with a high maintenance dog who has turned out to be a joy.

Today's haul. Mostly protein, some veggies. No fruit, but to be honest its just not my go to these days.
I still have turkey slices and a smoked, teriyaki salmon piece in the fridge, and shrimp, kielbasa sausage, chicken, in the freezer so I am set for whatever thing I plan.

I am waiting to hear back from my doctor. So far, I have never been on any meds for LDL. As of now, I am not on any prescriptions for anything. The Flosamax will be my first one. Not bad for 63yrs old.
I will let you know how the weighted vest works out.
With the sale and coupon, it made it cheaper than some of the ones that are just one weight, not adjustable.
I figured I can try it. If I don't like it, I can send it back beings it is on Amazon.
Got a message from my zumba instructor, the pool is not ready so no class tonight- we will start next Friday. Was really looking forward to it. My friend and I may go walk instead.Need to read up and then use fish immulsion for the garden- never used it but think I need to.

Debbie a neighbor used fish emulsion and her garden looked great. I bought some but it was late in the year. I just fertilized my veggies yesterday with it, so we will see if it helps. It does smell but I didn't notice after a day or two. So as long as you are not planning an outdoor get together it is a good product. This also holds for a fertilizer made from chicken dropping or milorganite fertilizer. Some say the milorganite helps keep away some pests because of the smell.

I did six minutes on my bike for nine days in a row! Yay! Today I did ten minutes! Yay!
I want to be very careful with my broken foot, but this much seems to be okay. I have been swinging some two pound hand weights, too. Time to try three pounds. I'm on my way! Yay!
