One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.📍Daily weight fluctuations are NORMAL and can be more than 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
📍A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
📍Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
📍Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
📍The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
📍When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
📍Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

@cschmitz110515 We had a heat advisory last week, which is a rare occurrence for us. It got quite muggy, even at night. Fortunately, it has now cooled down to a more normal temperature for us.

Trying to get back on track after a busy week bracketed by busier extended weekends with houseguests. First, my FIL - an amazingly active 97-year-old - came up for a few days. Unfortunately for him, my husband still has a few more weeks of physical restrictions, so there was no golf. Or to be more precise, the guys didn't play golf. We did watch a good bit of the US Open coverage. We also spent a day visiting my son at his new house and ate out a few times. It was a really nice visit.
The heat wave moved in midweek just as my older grandkids were finishing up the school year, so we celebrated with our traditional pool day, BBQ, and trip to their favorite ice cream place. An unexpectedly strong thunderstorm blew in while we were out, so we returned to no power, some tree damage, and outdoor furniture all over the place, including a chair and umbrella in the pool. The wind was strong enough to flip both of our large glass-topped patio tables. Unfortunately, one was blown off the raised deck and slammed down onto the concrete near the pool, shattering the tempered glass to bits. When the storm passed and we went out to survey the damage, I was dismayed to find that a bunch of the glass had actually landed in the pool. Our pool service wasn't much help, so my daughter came back the next day to assist and we spent a couple of exhausting days getting the glass out ourselves with a shop vac, then multiple passes with the regular pool vacuum. Fortunately, tempered glass breaks down into lots of small pebbley pieces rather than shards, so the liner wasn't damaged, and we managed to have everything cleaned up by the time our next set of houseguests arrived. And with this brutal heat and humidity, thank heavens!
This past weekend, my older son's best friend got married, so we got to entertain our very energetic younger grandkids for a couple of days while their parents participated in all the festivities. The wedding was local, so they, along with my younger son, spent a couple of nights with us instead of at the hotel. They stuck around on Monday, so my daughter and her boys came by for lunch and a swim before they left. By 6 PM, the house was quiet and I was completely exhausted, but it was such a nice weekend.
Today it's back to mindful eating and getting the house in order.

Got home yesterday evening from overnight visit at my folks' house. Since the weather had improved somewhat, hubby and I strolled 1 mile around the neighborhood with dog, and she was so happy. The heat advisory ended M evening across the state when very strong thunderstorms moved through, and several large tree limbs came down at my parents' but no damage. Temps went from 91F to 70 in less than 30 minutes. 90 miles north where hubby and I live, the storms felled a tree that unfortunately landed on and crushed a 9 yr old girl. Very sad.
@beachwalker99 Sorry about your storm damage. Glad you were able to get the glass out of the pool. Sounds like lots of good times for your family.
@angf0679 Glad you had a great time watching your Jays in person. I miss going to games to see the Brewers in Milwaukee, that was always fun.
JFT W 6/25 ~ Weather certainly has turned. Cool day, clouds have moved in & we have more chances for rain.
- Walked dog 4.18 mi, she got treat from W garbage truck driver & we saw a doe & 2 fawns cross road in front of us as we neared the park, so cute. Lots of other doggos out for walks with their humans, taking advantage of the cooler day. Happy dog & happy me 😁 / OT exercises
- Cheerios, blueberries & strawberries / cheese sandwich (I rarely have) & sugar snap peas (yum) / leftovers for supper / limit snacks & sweets / 80 oz. water / log all food / net calories zero
- Water tomato pots & front curb flowers / weed berm / refill oriole feeder (jelly & oranges) / make hummer food & refill feeder / boil eggs / grocery shop / read / digital declutter / other?
- 7:00 band concert in park if not raining / set alarm (hubby's sister's funeral is 11:00 & visitation 9-11)

@beachwalker99 oh my goodness, what a busy time you have been having. Sounds fun, excep the glass in the pool part1 Glad you were able to get that cleaned up. Our company finally left and that was a good feeling. Its fun while its going on but it is exhausting.
Our company left Monday and yesterday afternoon I hit a total wall. To be fair I had been fighting a cold all this past week and dealing with company . Last night I sat down on the couch around 6:30 to catch up on emails, got so tired and laid back and before I knew it I was out stone cold because I woke myself up with a big twitch from some falling dream. So I got up , by now it was 8 pm . I took a shower and my plan was to then eat dinner after but I made it as far as my bed and that was that, slept til morning. I felt much better today but holy moly did my body hit the Off switch. I literally could not do anything but sleep.
JFT
Got through another crazy work day.
No workout after work because I had to take my horse into the vet (more on that later, but he has to have a tooth extracted)
That is all I have for now.. its late and I am tired..
Have a good week everyone , I will try to pop in again soon

It's been a minute… Weight is mostly holding steady, but it definitely isn't because I'm taking care of myself.
Good News: 2 more interviews for the job. One from 9am-1pm then a virtual one a week later from 9pm to 10pm. My guess is that it is an international call based on the time. I need to study up on the quality requirements. It's been a few years since I did that.
Good News: I'm attending a Women in Leadership Conference tomorrow. Hopefully, it is worth my time. My company is a sponsor so there are 3 of us going.
Good News / Not so Good News: I finally have my appointment for the sleep study, but I'm nervous.
Good News: Tim's dad is doing better now that his heart meds are leveling out. His heart function is still only at 20% and he tires easily but he looks and sounds a lot better.
Not so Good News: Tim's mom is also struggling greatly on the mental front. Luckily his dad is there and they accepted a part time in home helper. It's actually the same lady I have giving my mom her meds. It's just that my mom hates her and they think she's sweet.
Good News: Sierra passed her NCLEX and is now an RN.
Good News: V got to see one of her favorite bands in Washington DC.
Not so good News: The venue was so hot they stopped the concert early. Also, her car which had just been inspected, got a flat on the way home from DC.
Good News: V was only an hour from home when she got the flat.
Not so Good News: All 4 tires were bad (2 were dry rotted) as were the brakes and the shocks. Tell me why I paid for an inspection??? I wrote them a strongly worded email asking for an explanation.
Good News: I've found an assisted living home for my mom that allows dogs and smoking outside. I put down a deposit and she moves in August 1. My aunt is going to come up Sunday when I tell her.
Not so Good News: Assisted living is extremely expensive. AND I still have to tell my mom she has to move into a home… In addition to mom being her normal cranky self… It's been in the high 90's here and I can't get my mom to close the doors and windows. The AC is running continuously and doing nothing. Do not want to see that electric bill. In the last week she's flooded her basement and had a gas leak in addition to being at risk for heat exhaustion.
Anyway, it's been a long couple of weeks…
