Got waaaay off w the July 4 holiday that became a week!!
Daily logging works for me! Back on it!
Goals: โ log the whole month of June, ๐ชrun a half marathon this year, ๐better weekend eating, more protein, ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ exercise daily, wine ๐ท limit of 2 drinks. Thanks for keeping me accountable, all! ๐get to lifetime ๐July 7 โฌ๏ธโ ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ๐ช๐๐ค

Most days it's not too bad, but I do keep a supply of protein shakes/protein bars for a quick boost. I add a shake to my iced espresso or coffee and that gives me 20 - 30 grams.
I'm Becca, 53, 5'6".
My continuing goals: Drink more than 64 oz of water, 25+ grams of fiber, 100+ grams protein.
For July I'll add 2 gym days per week.

My trend weight is slightly up so I know the holiday got me there for a minute but Iโm doing okay now, I guess. I finally got some sleep last night which probably helped. Iโve also been keeping up with some intentional exercise. Now, to move forward with progress, especially on the dietary front! I can definitely do better than I have throughout the holiday!

@dvmmcw7442 @herblackwings39 thank you for the protein suggestions. I do eat meat, but mostly at dinner. I think one of my issues is that I donโt usually eat breakfast. I just donโt have an appetite in the morning, but makes it difficult to get in that much protein in two meals. Iโll have to start incorporating smoothies or something in the lighter side in the morning.

Well I made a commitment this month to weigh myself first thing every morning. So I thought I would join this group. It will enforce accountability. My goal is simple. Just weigh myself to capture both positive and negative triggers.

@Bemybestby60 Totally agree with your comment about weighing in daily. I now see that number as a data point. I average my weekly weight which gives me a better picture of if I am truly losing the one pound a week. If I only weighed once a week I may have eaten out the night before, spiking my weight often just because of the sodium in restaurant meals or just plain overeating one meal. I donโt put any emotion into the number like I used to- especially donโt let it ruin my day if itโs gone up. I used to detest getting on it. Now I look forward to seeing what the numbers tell me ๐ง

I completely agree about logging daily. It has helped me understand how my body reacts to different foods. I try not to get upset when I see an uptick on the scale because itโs about tying to understand what I did and how to fix it. My goal is improving my overall health so I feel better, look better and most importantly that my body responds better! I am in my 50โs but there are days when I feel much older than thatโฆ I am slowly trying to rebuild the body I let go!5 -
I ate breakfast yesterday and that did the trick! Met my protein goal! Iโm really not a breakfast/morning eater, but I am going to work to incorporate something small with protein so I start my mornings off on the right foot! ๐

I have done horribly this month. Tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of us finding out my daughter had cancer, so I think I'm mentally checked out. However, I did start exercising more this week. Is it normal to gain a pound or two when you first start working out?

@Tbris4 Yay! There are so many ways to get that protein in. My daughter bought me a Ninja Creami for Christmas. I make โice creamโ using a cup and a half of homogenized milk, a scoop of protein powder, and a touch of vanilla. Gives me 37g of protein. Had that for lunch today. It feels like cheating ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ

@jessnocket Horribly sorry for your daughterโs cancer diagnosis. My sister went through it with her daughter and I still find it hard to believe that it happened. I know that exercise helped her cope.
As for the weight gain, I think that muscle will take up water after a workout and that can show up on the scale. I used to long distance run and often the day after a long run the scale would go up. The stress of what you are going through will also affect the number on the scale. My heart aches for you. Take care- Melanie6 -
