Tracey I live in Minnesota…Smoke is from Canada…Upper Minnesota is dangerous…We are in the unhealthy range. Windows are shut and wore a mask when I had to go outside to water!
Barbara my cherry tomatoes plants have green ones on them too. I found one ripe one the other day went straight to the mouth. Yum! Black raspberries are in season now. I think raspberries are too. I didn't get to Farmer's market today. Fortunately I didn't need anything. I will go next week .

I am waiting until my pants pretty much no longer stay up well, then I will buy more 1X's (which state they're 18's). I am sloughing around in my 2X's but if I have to visit with the rest of the world I do have 1 pair of a 1X🙃😁. I plan on being out of the 1X's by Christmas. My goal anyways.🙏

I do that with my protein pasta, then just jam the snack bag sized ziplocks back in the box. These veggie straws are 40 pieces a serving which seems like a lot to me so I eat half. I am like you on appt. days. I need to adjust my thinking and "get my head in the game" so to speak. This next week is a hair appt and a teeth cleaning for me. I am conflicted in how to handle my stylist. So she can cut my hair exactly like I need it. There's no problem there, but I like the sides around my ears, around the base of my neck shaved like a #3. She only uses a pair of scissors so she can't get as close as I would like. The last couple of times I just go to the base barber and tell her to do a high and tight around my ears and neck. Its only $15 but my haircut runs like $80. Do I make a stink and tell her to get someone to use the electric clippers because she just isn't comfortable using them? Or just do like I have been doing? I hate conversations like that!

This upped dosage is serious business! Flu like symptoms yesterday, achiness. Its a familiar feeling. Just toughing it out. Today was a sandwich and could only manage half. Who can't eat a frillin sandwich, me I guess. Its a weird feeling. Dinner is 2 oz steak and some shrimp with raw veggies. Then an 11 oz protein shake. Its difficult to get my calories in, keep my carbs and proteins even (ideally I like the protein to be higher than the carbs), and not go over on my fats. For the most part I eat enough to keep the calorie gods happy on here, and not get that warning blurb paragraph.

Hello to all from warm and beautiful Dublin. We have walked nearly the entire county, it feels. My dogs are barking loudly. It’s a small-ish city and very walkable, so that’s what we’ve been doing. Keeping the weight at bay, hopefully, but the PF is flaring in a big way.
I know Heather thinks it’s hot, but it’s been perfect! The only time I’ve been sweating is at night, or when we had to run this morning because we were late for our tour. The locals are melting.
I will try to get some pics. I haven’t been taking many. Today we were at a lake and then had fancy afternoon tea.
I’m in Ireland for 7 more days. We will head to the west coast in a few days.
Belfast tomorrow.
Terri, I’m learning a bit of Irish and now understand more of what you’ve been writing in your messages!
Hang in there Kim. It sounds like you’re doing great in adjusting.
Tracey, so glad you had a nice time with Roger.
I had others to comment on, but it’s so hard to type a lot on the phone.Hugs to those in need!

Allie... Glad you're seeing a professional, honey. You've been through a lot in the years I've known you, and needing help to rise from all that is not a surprise. Enjoy Virginia, sweetie, and take care of yourself.

Debbie glad things are better with DH
Allie hope you feel better
Rebecca hope you adjust to the new dose
Tina Dublin sounds fun!
Well the library was a dud. It's not a great place to meet people. Too quiet. I might have to check out a local bar.
And they didn't have anything by my current favorite author Catherine Cowles. Back to Amazon!
May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

For Athena I made her get all her cutie undies (They had practiced but never really made the leap), and we put the undies on all over her stuffed animals and bears. Then we played and occasionally I would say, "I think bear needs to use the potty". So we would both take bear in, and take off his undies and one of us would hold him over the potty". We turned on the water for bear, and told him to think of things that were wet, like pools, the rain, etc. Then when he pretended to go we'd chap, flush, " wash" his hands, and say good job! Or sometimes he just tried and that was ok. Athena just took her turn because bear had told her she needs to try too. I made it like they were the game and she just followed suit. Pretty soon she was pee'ing too! This took a whole two days of constant play. And you had to play the game rotating between the animals. Best of luck!

libraries can be so quiet, and you never find what you're looking for! I just soon find one on the library app and put the book in my browser, or on Kindle. Then I can read when I am walking on the treadmill.
I am realizing I don't have to best the best at this, just try my best. So today eating that darn sandwich was a struggle, so I ate half, adjusted my numbers on my food diary and moved on. Dinner is raw veggies, fat free dressing, some steak and some shrimp. Just tossing it in spices and frying up. I might even cook them all together.
Getting my liquids in is always ongoing. Managing 80-90 oz daily. That's one thing that I think is helping me not to have any of the other side effects like constipation. I am dealing with a fair amount of heartburn at night, but now that I don't have to deal with the idea of "oh I am fasting, I can't take this or that", I can chew on one or two with no issues. To be honest being free of that darn " eating window" has been liberating.

Rebecca…your favorite lurker here ( I took Debbi's advice on Dawgs). I noticed you use Atkins shakes, have you tried Atkins Plus or Atkins Strong? DH has trouble keeping up with protein since Covid (lost taste) and I want to increase protein and calcium cheaper on Amazon and they are hard to find. Anyway we both like them. Just a thought, back to lurkering now and I do apologize for intruding. I don't post much to anything.

😀 Lisa, We spent summers traveling in an RV for several years. One year when we on a 99 day trip, Jake started talking about how it would perfect for us to become full time RVers. I listened and didn't disagree until one day he saw a beautiful wall hanging in New Mexico and wanted to buy it and told me where he would hang it in our house. That's when I told him that I didn't think he was ready to be a full timer. Two years later we went on our last RV trip and sold the RV.
😀 Tracey, your date with your husband sounds great. It's not so much what you do, but that you're together.
😀 The news here is the usual dog walking, exercise bike riding, tv watching, reading, dog playing, peaceful life.

We love ordering online and having our groceries delivered.
Often, as soon as I discover we're out of something, I go onto the site and add it to the cart. Helps me not forget items.
Our weekly grocery bill for 2 people crept up to about $300/week as prices went up but I have made a few changes and it is now between $250 and $275/week.
Delivery charges are usually between $0 and $10.

Regarding books and magazines ... I have been using Libby which provides me with free access to a fairly large range of books and magazines.
Regarding meeting people, I would not try a bar. I would try sporting events. Either start participating in something (like learning to swim) or volunteer to help with something.

Kim: You are in my daily thoughts and on the list of people to whom I consciously send energy for return of radiant health. I have been ordering groceries online on Walmart for over 5 years. The minimum order for free delivery is $35. I use the app to build my list, and when I have about $50 in needs, have it delivered, usually the same evening or next morning. Tip is adjustable, but usually 10%. I often see on Nextdoor.com people finding providers for some of those "gap" errands and trips you will need from time to time. Cheaper than Ubers.
Tina: Keep up that walking and you'll have no worries about vacation weight. Can't wait to see photos.
Debbie: I'm so happy you have the house to yourself. My tenant went to a funeral in Georgia, so I am in the same happy mode for a few days.
Heather: Give your friend L a big pat on the back from me. As much as I love live music festivals, not sure I could have stayed through till the end of Neil Young's set. I adore Cat Stevens and clearly remember when I was 18 y.o. my friends and I hiked into the outdoor venue where he was doing his soundcheck. We stood there transfixed, listening, until he spotted us and had us chased out of the venue. Fast forward 50 years, now I'm that person who works at venues and chases people out of concert soundchecks. LOL.
Lanette: Good luck with the new meds. Is there any cure for your back?
Tracey: My late DH and I loved going to races, air shows and all that kind of stuff. Wasn't my cup of tea, but seeing his pleasure in it was worth the time, money and effort. Now I kind of miss those events.
Rebecca: You are smarter than me and definitely in better tune with your body. I had a mean urge for a sandwich today. I seldom buy bread so at the farmers market I picked up sourdough and vine ripened tomatoes. Made a grilled cheese. When done, I almost immediately had a heavy, bloated feeling. Half a sandwich would have been enough…lesson learned!
This morning I worked the sunrise yoga event at Red Rocks. It was actually too cold to be outside in shorts. Fortunately, we have uniform jackets and I got gloves out of my car. Later, it did warm up and it was a spectacular day to bring Mars the Leash Loving Cat outside for long sits on the grass. I sat in my hammock chair reading a biography of Lorne Michaels. Bliss. I need a short nap before talking with N tonight. We are going to read Willie Nelson's Letters to America together in advance of going to see him and his family perform in 3 weeks.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

Thanks Carol, Shadow was a very good girl but OH! The clouds of undercoat! After working very hard for two hours, groomer said she was only half done. I was tired so we’ll go back next week for part 2. ;)
Lisa that PT sounds brutal, and at least a little sadistic. I don’t remember yelling at my shoulder PT, just wincing and grunting, and no I’m not stoic, I yelp at the least little thing.
Barbie I did like curbside pickup. The shopper did a good job, no substitutions, but I am picky about produce and prefer selecting my own. Will use curbside again next Friday for round 2 of Shadow’s grooming.
Kim 4 miles round trip while carrying or dragging groceries? Nope. Chewy delivers dog food free if you can make a minimum $49 order. Imho, let your friends drive you to the pedicure, make it a social event? ((hugs))
Tracey that’s one benefit to curbside pickup I hadn’t thought of, no buying off-list ;) My heart is happy for you and Rodger. Something about sitting side-by-side seems to make it easier for guys to converse. I really miss the talks Joe and I had on our road trips.
Debbie enjoy having the house all to yourself! Congratulations on the swimming/Aqua Zumba.
Lanette no tomatoes planted here, but some of my beit alpha cucumbers have fruited, small, sweet, crisp, delicious!
Annie, back when I was single, someone suggested the best way to meet compatible people was doing something I loved. Found it to be true when I found line dancing. No single guys but great welcoming friendly people.
Rebecca, fasting just doesn’t suit me either. This morning I was too busy to eat at my regular time. Three hours later, headache, anxious stomach, almost to nauseous to eat my yogurt and fruit. No IF for moi!
@pony4us no need to apologize , you aren’t intruding, your comments are welcome here!
Rori love hearing that you and N are reading Willie Nelson’s Letters to America together, long distance. The three weeks to the concert will go by fast!
Action for happiness
Silly me, don't need to re-post all the days', just today's.
12-save worries about consequences to nephew’s depression for night and morning prayer time.Short of protein, but just not hungry enough to prep apples and yogurt. Will head to bed instead ;}

I will look for these! I shop at our commissary which is a military grocery store, so you kind of get what you get most of the time, but we do have Safeway, and Wal-Mart too. I like ones that aren't a huge bottle and Atkins are mostly 11 oz cartons. Lol lurker thanks!

Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD,
I used to really enjoy the point of a fast when you're 18+ hours in and you feel a bit euphoric, keen sensed, and in autophagy. That's the only part of fasting I miss. I envisioned my body cleaning house, getting rid of stuff it didn't need, and using for fuel, kind of like a bonfire at a hoarders home! But with me on this med fasting just ain't happening. Part of what this medication does is slow down your digestion, so I don't think autophagy would ever really occur in a fashion like it normally would. Also how you secrete the enzymes that regulate hunger, feeling satiated are affected, all pretty important indicators in the fasting world. Pretty much IF and GLP-1 peptide medications can't be friends.🙃😂

Rori,
Hey friend! My sandwiches were legendary before I started zepbound! Artisan bread, toasted with havarti cheese, tomatoes, sprouts, relish, turkey, maybe even some pickled asparagus spears. They were monstrous! I was "queen of sandwiches"!
Your sandwich sounded epic too. And your sunny afternoon! Hugs to Mars!

Heather - I’m finding a lot of what I’m looking for isn’t available in local stores so end up ordering from Amazon more that I like.
We have a big shop local movement happening here. I wish the local pricing was better.Lisa - it sounds like a perfect morning at your house. It was at mine too. I slept in and was only up for a few minutes when Rodger suggested we head to the town with the racing early and have breakfast out. Not really planned financially, but I said yes anyway.I feel alone and wish we did things together that when he makes a suggestion I’m jumping on it.I always wanted to live on the road. Now I don’t know if I could go smaller than what we’re in. Not here in Canada anyway. I think if you had the outdoor space year round it would be more feasible.
Debbie - I would like to find some more inexpensive things to do too, but right now I feel the cost isn’t important if it connects us. I don’t like the movies Rodger likes either. We don’t go to movies very often it’s not something we enjoy enough for the cost.
Heather - I barely recognize my DH without a baseball hat. I’m wishing I had one today, but I would have had to buy one.
I am roasting like a marshmallow in this heat, but I am enjoying the day just the same.
Allie - I’m glad you are seeking some help. You’ve had a lot of stress the last few years.
As for potty training, I firmly believe that kids do it when they’re ready regardless of our schedule or plan.Margaret- I figured you must be somewhere more north. We get bad days here but not lingering. It all depends on the wind.
Rori - I love air shows. I’ve gone to demo derbies most of my life so enjoy them. Hockey I don’t mind. Other than that I can’t think of any I would want to sit through.
We had another wonderful day at the races today. It was hot and we are both sunburned. We froze 6 bottles of water and put them in Rodger’s insulated lunch box that has freezer packs that keep it really cool. Next year we’ll do more. It was good but we did end up buying some there, plus other drinks. I had two Coke today. On the way home Rodger noticed a sign for an art walk here next weekend and asked me about it. I think he’s interested in going. This is what we need so desperately.
Tonight there was a skydiving demonstration by the Canadian Forces Skyhawks and a flyby by their Griffin helicopter. The man that was supposed to be Brodey’s best man was part of the Skyhawks team and wasn’t able to attend the wedding because it was his dream position and if he was going to miss one he couldn’t be in it.He passed in a skydiving accident while on vacation in Florida in 2020.
I have to go pick Jonah up tomorrow so he can mow for us.

Tracey - I can certainly understand how good it feels to be going out as a couple. 💖 But I agree with you about the horrendous cost of even a simple outing. Our little walk around The Lanes, with a simple beer and medium glass of wine, and then a two course fish supper, in a medium priced restaurant, came to well over £100. That's $200 Canadian. A rare treat. Every time I go out like that I am conscious of my privilege. John usually pays out of his private savings, but we couldn't do it from our normal budget very often.
I'm debating whether to make an appearance at the school fiesta in the park, to watch Bea sing. John is going. I do not operate well in heat, and there is no seating. I think I might just send him 'in loco granny'. He can walk both ways, I would have to get Ubers. Can't walk in the heat along pavements and busy roads.
I may be chatting to L this morning.

Morning, my chicks,
We are quite an interesting group - just fascinated by all the directions people go. And sorry, Allie, I meant I hope you have a good time in Tennessee, not Virginia.
We decided on a whim yesterday morning to go look at RVs at the place closest to us. Found a young salesman who was bored and happy to walk us around and talk to us about the few big 'uns he had on the lot. Corey looked at the little 'uns too, but I couldn't even look. Too small to think about.
One thing it showed me that I will HAVE to get in better shape prior to really buying one is my ability to go up and down steep stairs! There's always a workaround… but my shoulder wasn't happy using all the rails to pull me up and support that much of my weight either.
But, knowing what the issues are makes it easier to prepare. And there's time.
Barbie - As you noted, realism did rear its beautiful head more than once. One thing Corey did bring up, and he's absolutely right, is that right now, I must be near a physical address in order to get the medications I'm taking, as the VA ships almost all medications.
He also noted we'd be moving from 2000+ square feet into a 320sf space, and that we occasionally feel like our ten-room house is smaller than it was when we bought it! My craft room ALONE is 150 sq. feet, almost half the floor space of that biggest RV.
So, there are many, many things to think about, but it gave us that excuse to get out on a Saturday morning and eat breakfast at a table, in a restaurant, talking to each other. Next time, we'll eat before we go, though! Too expensive, and the food wasn't as good as Corey's cooking by a long stretch. Plus we had that car conversation time, too, that as you said, Tracey, is so much more relaxed for them and us.
Today is… finishing up a couple things, including finishing the flip side of those doors that need painting. No idea if he wants to accomplish anything, but the rain will prevent anything outside.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR5 -
John went to see Bea. It was very hot! She was excellent. I have videos of her solo singing, and dancing with two friends. Lots of confidence and presence. My favourite video is one that John took, of the very beginning. They played the wrong music and Bea marches over to tell them they had the wrong track! Atta gurl!!!! I wish I could post it here. :-)
Here is a photo.
I spent my time catching up with L, and having a 'funny lunch' of black bean dahl with chopped salad and homemade yoghurt. I also fast forwarded the very last episode of Scott and Bailey, to check it out before watching it tonight. I knew there was a violent chase and capture scene and I didn't want any nasty surprises. Now I know what happens I can watch it with John. I've had it on hold for a month or so. :-()
Now for a nap.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Lisa, have you gone camping in an RV?
If not, maybe try renting one for a weekend.
We've spent the occasional weekend in a "permanent" RV at a campground and I didn't really like those experiences.
I feel like we have more space when we tent camp than in an RV because most things happen outside. Whereas with the RV we were more inclined to do things inside ... and we were in each other's space.
And I don't know if it was just the way those particular RVs were set up, but they were "bouncy". So when my husband got up in the night and in the morning, each step he took jiggled the RV which woke me up. I can sleep through a certain amount of snoring but if someone shakes my bed, it wakes me up. So I did not get a good night's sleep at all. That alone put me off getting an RV.
YMMV

Tracey - what a nice photo of you and Rodger. Sounds like you had another great day yesterday - I would have been mesmerized by the skydiving. Any kind of airshow, really. The skill and training is admirable. Sorry to hear about Brody's prospective best man's accident. He died doing what he loved.
Rebecca - Using a teddy bear for toilet training was very clever.😁 Did the doc who prescribed your GLP-1 give you any kind of eating plan or will a maintenance strategy be discussed once you hit your goal? You are doing a great job getting in your protein, I was just wondering if using protein drinks will be part of your long term diet. Looks like they are a great solution for those of us that need to up our protein as we get older.
Annie - some folks have luck meeting others on "MeetUp" which lists events where a person might run into others with like interests. I checked to see what's going on in my community - nothing for me. I had a thought - when you no longer have to provide 24/7 care for your dad, maybe take a college class? I could do that since there's a college about 15 miles from my house but I don't feel like making that drive and committing to a schedule right now. But I know many seniors do it and they can audit the classes so very little cost. These kids could benefit from our wisdom, right? 😁 So I'm holding out for Rori's N's brothers, lol.
Lisa - glad you got to see some RV's up close. Machka has some good suggestions. I don't think DH and I could have lived in one on even a semi-permanent basis. Too much "togetherness" and no where to get alone-time, although I see a lot of younger folks doing it and it's just fine - they are more nomadic and end up in campgrounds for a period of time then move on. They sometimes find a private spot to park their rig and can go hiking, exploring. They take along dogs and cats and make that work. Corey is an excellent mechanic and carpenter so he'd be the perfect guy to do this with.😁
Heather - I'm with you - the sun gets too hot very quickly and I avoid it. Glad John went to see Bea's neat performance and took videos. Are Max and Edie also comfortable in front of crowds like that?
Rori - this back arthritis thing I have isn't disabling and if it was, I guess they could roto-root the arthritis out. The plan on the back and allergy meds is take them for a month then back off and see if they are still needed. Funny thing, since I've been wearing the Crocs - for what, a month now? My hammertoe/bendy toe is straightening out. No more painful callus on the tip. And I do wear still wear rocker shoes when I go on my morning walk, but the orthotics seem to help throw me off balance so I dug out some old power step insoles and I'll see how they work.
Talking about quality conversations with our DH's - yesterday I really wanted to talk with mine. Show him the teeny tree frog that somehow keeps crawling into the garbage can and hangs out. Point out the little bumblebee that was swimming for dear life in a water bucket so I fished him out and put him on some violets that are surviving in a planter nearby. Ask DH about the little shrubs that have self-planted under the powerline. Tell him maybe it's time to get a kitten since he loved cats.
We used to have the best conversations about things like this.😥 I don't expect to ever have chats like this with another guy again, but who knows.
I got my early morning walk in and picked a big bowl of blueberries over at Roger's. I have laundry out on the drying rack - there's a pretty stiff cool breeze so far so it should dry quickly.
Barbie - Sue - Rebecca - Flea-Evie- Barbara (and any Western WA, OR and BC ladies) here's a recent satellite photo of our area. I live to the left of the big white splotch in the bottom right corner. Not real close though. I'm pretty sure that's Mount Rainier and I think Mt. St. Helens is beneath it. Rainier has been having a lot of little earthquakes lately - geologists say it's not a big deal but this many have not happened in recorded history.😮
Reminder - tomorrow is Weekly Check-In for those participating.
