Kay … Jasper is a cutie! Family drama is exhausting. Hope it settles down sooner rather than later.
Ginny … a tornado! Glad you are ok.
Tina … 70% increase in health insurance? My budget wouldn't sustain that without major modifications but I also wouldn't be without health insurance.
Celebrated my mom's 94th birthday this week and it didn't go as planned, but then when does it ever? My mom had digestive issues after eating the lunch we brought her (lots of sweet and sour cabbage), the dietary staff had been uniformed about the cupcakes (oh no! rolling eyes), aides were put out that the cupcakes were for the dinner service instead of the lunch service (shift change at 3:00), etc. For pity's sake. Honestly, this facility is usually more on the ball, but I think they were discombobulated with a Medicare/Medicaid recertification group that was on premises (which I learned they passed with flying colors).
Getting blood work done today before next week's doctor's appointment. Not sure what we'll see this time around. Since my son decided to get fit (he's losing on avg. 2.5 pounds/wk), we've all been eating healthier. I haven't been losing weight though.
Have a good weekend,
Beth near Buffalo

Thank you Tracey and Annie!

they have her named as baby girl. We won’t keep that name. Originally we had the plan making the next dog we got would be named boo boo.
, because we had yogi, like the cartoon character. Now that yogi is gone, I was telling Kirby we don’t have to name her that. Because we have Lucy, I mentioned that we should call her Ethel like the I love Lucy show, Kirby is down for that.lololol he now wants to call her officially “Ethel Merton Schlotterback”.

Happy Friday, all, and Happy Anniversary, Terri!
I tried to share a 📸 of our puppy but it's not working. I probably need to buy a membership?
Anyway, he's 100% mutt from a reservation rescue. Looks a lot like a rhodesian ridgeback, but more likely to be some mix of boxer/lab/hound.
I'm so proud of him; he's doing well with house training. We had the hardest time finding a name. The rescue called him Grumpy because he's from a litter of 7. We decided on Buster and then my husband said no, I can't remember that. So we cycled through names for another week and then my husband said, what about Buster 🤔
I noticed a few Ohioans here— I grew up in Columbus and still have family there.

Ange - If you can add a post, like you just did, you can add a pic as well. There are other ways, but I use copy and paste the majority of the time.
Terri - Happy 59th anniversary, dear friend! What an accomplishment!
Beth - Well done to your son! That's a lot to lose in a short time. Sorry your mother's celebration didn't go as hoped.
Margaret - You look lovely in that picture, very relaxed and very happy.
Tracey - Thanks for your comment on the purse. I'm looking at making some mini-granny square out of thin thread, I've seen some very cool patterns lately. I love the idea of what your brother's done in terms of a house. Michaela's just an old soul, born 50 years too late...
Pip - Absolutely love the idea of "Ethel Merton Schlotterback." Really loving all the painted pieces you post as well.
Michele - Love the woodie wagon…
Kay - He really is a cutie! Sorry, too, about family drama. I walked away from that a LONG time ago.
Barbara - Thanks for the compliment on the purse - are you still teaching an exercise class or was that a one-shot deal?
Dropping into a reasonable routine, where I go outside to water, and move it every ten minutes to another place - flowers, garden, Corey's patches of new grass, etc. While they're getting watered, I work with hand loppers and my little chainsaw clearing the space down around the old terrace wall we found under the jungle between the houses.
I only get about two feet cleared each morning that I'm out there, but it's better than not getting it done… It's too steep to put the tractor or the lawnmowers on it, so the original clearing of underbrush just has to be done by hand. The wall is probably 50 feet long, or so. So most of the rest of the summer at this rate… good thing I'm not in a hurry.
Before I started that, I got the sheets and towels on the line to dry, as well. Already 83 F at 10 a.m., with the "feels-like" at 96 (35 C) and that feels-like temperature is supposed to be well over 100 by mid-afternoon. Other than bringing in the sheets and towels, that's it for outside for me today! Going to finish cooling down, get in the shower and then do some more work on the two projects that are in progress. I'm making a pillow out of that same metallic yarn - it's unbelievably soft.
OK, getting uncomfortably cool as my shirt and pants are both soaking wet with sweat, and while the skin dries quickly inside, the clothes do NOT. Shower time!
Later, my dears,
Lisa in the breathlessly hot Arkansas River Valley8 -
Rita, Ange is adorable! IDK, Harley is a Chug and he looks an awful lot like that, including the floppy ears. That happens a lot when they're not pure and there are a whole bunch of other reasons Chi's have floppy ears.
Pip, so excited for your new family member, whomever they may be.
Gotta love them furbabies…
HAPPY FRIDAY!
Love and Blessings

Terri - Many congratulations on getting to 59 years married! Enjoy your dinner out. 💝
I've been watching a lot of videos recently on 'elegant living'. Great fun, as we are not at all elegant. However, they have inspired me to get out my fabric dinner napkins, which I basically purloined by accident from various hotels when I was acquiring breakfast stuff for lunch. I've washed them, and I'm going to iron them, and use them next time we have a guest. I also burrowed in the wardrobe and found my grandmother's tablecloth, which has panels of handmade crochet lace. I hope I will get an opportunity to use it. It used to be on my dressing table in previous houses. I love napkins, and always have a paper one for meals, but fabric ones give me great pleasure in hotels and restaurants.
A small thing, but a bit of fun!

😀 Terri, Happy Anniversary.
😀 Dementia, My dog walking friend cared for her husband who had Alzheimer's and then trained as a Hospice volunteer so she learned about how to interact with someone with dementia. What I remember most of what she told me was that you just have to respond to what the person says and not try to correct them and that changing the subject and distraction were good tactics. Others of you have explained this better. I was glad to know this when I dealt with my cousin in the nursing home in NYC. I called her every day and she frequently asked about her parents (they died decades ago) or said that she had gotten a call from her husband (he died in the 80's). By the next call, she had other things to talk about.
😀 recurring payments, Jake was concerned about the all the financial stuff I did that he didn't know about so I created a document that explained things including recurring payments that I knew about. Now the document is available to his daughter who is tasked with taking care of things after I'm gone. The situations I've dealt with lately have to do with things that Jake ordered or signed up for and didn't tell me (or didn't know he was signing up for recurring charges). It just has to be dealt with one item at a time. When Jake signed up for Babbel to learn first French and then Spanish, he asked if it was ok to spend $98.00 but he didn't realize or didn't tell me that it was a yearly charge that would recur automatically.
😀 Pip, Love "Ethel Merton Schlotterback".

I agree- this week especially didn't have many good deals- except on- Ramen/cup of noodles .10-limit of 24(very bottom corner in our ad).Picked up the limit-sharing with son and his girlfriend.
We shop Grocery Outlets(we have two in town, two in the next town plus others close by), then Walmart and 168. Safeway just for sale items. Dh has worked for Safeway for 45yrs. His loyalty goes just so far.
Like the cat food we just bought at GO for the kittens. $3.99 a bag, Safeway has the same for $8.29! The same one is $5.19 at Walmart.
It takes extra time but saving that much money is worth it.No big plans this weekend but have a lot of little things to work on. We have a show next week in Redding,CA so we will be finishing up more things for that one. Not sure how that show will be. We have never done this one.
Need to get more sewing done for friend's mom-I will be working on it as soon as I am done catching up here. have 2 hrs before daycare girl comes in. I want to get the first one finished today if I can so she can try it on and see what she wants changed when I make the two blouses out of her fabric. I used mine for this first one. She can keep it too if she likes it.Aqua zumba tonight- would be really looking forward to it a lot more if it was a bit warmer. Just 66 when class starts 64 when we get done(so Alexa says anyways) That is going to be chilly especially if it is windy like it has been.
Tuesday I will go for mammogram , going a bit early, hope they take me early, then a quick trip up to my home town to go to the lawyer for dh then stop and see my mom before heading home. He told work he won't be working his graveyard shift Wed. morning so no big rush to get home Tuesday evening.

Woke up at 6, hearing the garbage truck- woke dh up to ask if he had put the garbage out, no, jumped up started putting my pants on and remembered, I had remembered and put it out while he was at the movies with his friend. Glad we didn't miss it.I usually take it out , just didn't remember for that split second. He went back to sleep but without the CPAP so was snoring pretty good. I stayed in bed a bit then just got up. Enjoying the quiet now. Letting him sleep4 -
Machka—I do still work and I can work from anywhere. However, the mister is not yet sold on my nomadic dream. He’s getting there slowly, but I started putting the idea in his head about 15 years ago. I fear by the time he “gets” it, we won’t be able to do it for various reasons.
Beth—We are struggling with the health insurance issue. I’m currently looking for other options, else I may have to go with a catastrophic only plan.
Michele—I love the woody car!
Ginny—Congrats on your last Friday! that’s exciting!
It’s ComicCon weekend here. We can’t decide if we want to go downtown and see all the craziness and their creative costumes, or stay out of it. Being able to take the bus helps a lot, as I get so frustrated with traffic and finding parking (which is now $40). The bus is $5 round trip.
I’m still having to fight ants. It’s so annoying.
Doing some financial planning today. I don’t like it, but it needs to be done.
Have a great day/evening/morning.

Last night I was going to go to my car to get something, came around the corner and there was a pretty SKUNK, eating the catfood dh put out at the garage door for the stray cats. Decided I did not need to go to my car that bad and turned quickly and went back in the house as the skunk ran under dh's car.
Last weekend when I was at mom's, I went to see my aunt who lives just one driveway from where we used to live when I was a little kid. House was torn down many years ago- it was condemed /well contaminated that is why we had to move and moved into my grandparents house for a year while we built our new house. They have really cleared the property- There used to be a huge pile of hop poles covered with blackberries. There was a pump house near the back of the property. It is still there.
Here is a picture taken almost 60yrs ago and one now- just the pump house is the same.I am the one in the middle8 -

As I get older I do apologize less and just think "whateva".😂😁👍🏼 I always get a deluxe and it cones with the warm wax in a baggie, plus a scrub for the feet and lower legs. She was young and so she could converse easily with me which was nice. I always feel somewhat limited when our conversation mainly consists of pointing to the card of options, and smiling.

Terri - Happy 59th Anniversary! 😍 I just love reading about all of the activities you and your DH are still engaged in.
Annie - so glad your sister was able to come by for a few days. It gave you a bit of respite and input for her into your caregiver duties for not only your dad, but your home as well.
Pip - so has Ethel officially joined your household?
Beth - sorry your mom's party didn't go as planned. Excellent progress on your son's weight loss. I'm starting to think hoarding is a part of getting older including our body's tendency to hoard extra weight. 😁 If only I could put these extra pounds around my middle into a box and drop them off at Goodwill!
Barbara - thank you for that BB&B info. I figured there was a way to use free weights and the step platform, will give it a try. Probably wouldn't hurt me to do this a few minutes every day.
Strength training for older gals:
I ran across the "yes2next" videos on YouTube again this morning where April leads her elderly mom on various exercises and workouts. Nice to see exercise videos that are tailored to those of us who aren't 25 anymore (wasn't that just last year? 😁) She does some effective exercises with free weights that I hadn't seen before.
Full Body Workout for Seniors, Beginners | Build Muscle with Dumbbells
I've been rereading the Strong Women Stay Young (SWSY) book. 8 years ago, when I started using this book as a guide for strength training, I was 66 and still in "middle age" mode mentally and physically. Not yet a senior so using those light weights and warnings didn't pertain to me. Now that I'm 73, I'm reading the book with fresh eyes. If anyone is interested in an on-line .pdf link for many of the workouts and information provided in the book, here's it is. I know I post this every year or two. Miriam Nelson, who wrote the SWSY book, was a contributor to this manual provided by the CDC:
My old WW/weight loss & activity/food diary records…
I ran across my old WW records from 1987 through 2016. In 1987, I was 36 and lowest weight was 139 lbs. I was 5'9" tall back then. In 2004, I was 53 and weighed nearly 193 lbs and still 5'9" - that was right after I left the stressful job at 911. In the past couple decades, my weight has been in the 160's - some months a few pounds over or under. And I have shrunken to 5'8".
I have also kept weekly weight/activity records since 2006, where I'd record my weight with a few notes like "starting walking 2 miles a day this week" or "lower carb under 100 gm per day this week" or "5:2 intermittent fasting is working". I've been looking for patterns and useful tips I have jotted down to help me today as I continue this journey.
I am not a faithful food logger, but I do go through streaks. Being able to look back and see what I was eating when I was losing weight has been beneficial.
A little deer excitement this morning….
The doe and her two spotted fawns - who are getting larger with fading spots - were in the back yard this morning. The little ones found a place where they could jump over the fence! So I opened one of the gates with the thought of "shooing" them into the front yard before rotten Rosie went out and chased them all over and risked sending one of the fawns over the back fence. Well, my plan sort of worked. I went out to shoo them (left Rosie in the house) and one fawn went out the front gate as planned, the other ran back under the powerline and went over the back fence. Just what I didn't want to happen. 😣 The doe is hanging around ready to leap into the back yard so I expect to see everyone back in here by tonight. My only concern is my tomatoes. I sprayed them heavily with liquid fence and will probably put netting over them before I go to bed. Yes, that netting I took down and put away yesterday because I didn't figure I'd need it. 'Doh!
Better close this book and get it posted. 😁

mom isn't in the picture- just dad and my two sisters and I.
Mom is little like me- Older sister is the only semi tall person in the family. She is 5'8".
Mom is 5'3, younger sister is 5', I am now a bit under 5'. Dad was 5'7 at his tallest but 5'3 when he passed away.4 -

Heather: We ate at home. Smoked salmon with Melba toast, fillet steak with stir fry veg, and most of a bottle of Prosecco. We like cooking together, and it means we can both have wine. We did have a caramel cheesecake as a dessert, but were too full to eat it. (There were chocolate truffles instead.)

Worked then took the mower deck to be repaired. Finally Vince is admitting that the mfgr isn’t going to do anything. Went in the pool and when I came out, they had called saying that the deck was ready. We had to give them a $40 deposit. The guy talked about putting in a piece of metal and screwing that down. In the end it’ll cost us another $20. Hope this lasts for a while.
Then went to Lowe’s to get pool salt. One of the clamps broke (I think I told you) and we lost a fair amount of water(so therefore salt), so we have to put more salt in the pool Ordered two of the clamps
Terri - happy anniversary!
Ginny – how exciting
pip – two of our cats are Barney and Fred
Got things out of the exercise room, cleaned out the dressers in the downstairs bedroom. Vince feels that C is being a bit selfish, we’re doing them a favor and we have to disrupt our lives even more because he wants a king bed. Why he can’t use his queen mattress for a few months is beyond me. But the king bed can’t be put together until the queen in the downstairs bedroom is disassembled. Guess we shall see what happens.

Hi Lovely Ladies,
Tina and a few others have mentioned figuring out living on less. I thought I would throw out some ideas, I live on a pretty limited budget, and try to do it while living a pretty good life. This is all thought based on saving money – not time and are best if everyone living in the household are on the same page.
So Barbie mentioned finding a annual renewal that Jake had set up or got signed up for without realizing it. This is number one in my world. Do you really need prime and the big box membership, and the gym, and the audio book???? Look over your bank statements for the last 6 months what are you paying for and not using.
Entertainment comes from the library for free. Audio books, real books, movies, That is the first choice. And by the way when you visit the library use the restroom they are always clean and it saves you the cost of toilet paper and water. Use that bathroom trick at everyplace you go.
Electricity – if you are not using it, turn it off, lights, computers, tv’s and anything else. Get a power strip and plug computers into it and when you are done, turn off the power strip. Any thing with an instant on feature uses power when it is turned off, so turn off the power strip and it will not use any power. How many freezers and refrigerators do you really need? Everyone is different but if the most resent date on any of the food in that freezer is before 2010 you probably do not need that.
Beverages – water from the tap is the best buy. If you have issues with that look into a Brita or other beverage water filtration system. You do not need to filter the water to water your house plant… If water is too boring try tea, 2 cups is possible from one tea bag for many in the USA. If you are cringing at this look into all the options that are price cutting… soda stream, an espresso maker, the mix in dry products and eliminate or cut back on all alcohol it’s just darn pricy.
Food – cook from scratch even buy veggies and meat on sale and freeze them in single or 2 person servings. Do as many veggie or vegan meals a week as possible. Cookies and bread are so much cheaper when cooked from scratch.
Laundry – do a full load and if possible dry your laundry outside. Also depending on the rules in your area, have a hose from your washer to send the water to the yard to water. The eco-friendly laundry soap is only a penny or two per load more and you save that in water costs.
Stuff - If you have any item that is reusable take it to your local 2nd hand/thrift/reuse able shop. And do your shopping for yourself, family and fiends there.
Walk, or bike, you will save on a gym membership, and the gas, wear and tear on a vehicle
Who has another hint???

I do most of those things!
(Except use the toilets in the Hobart library … most library toilets are good, those are not.)
On entertainment - we watch "free to air" TV, but I pick up movies from OP shops that sell them for somewhere between $1 and $3. Also, my husband and I have gotten each other box sets of shows we like for Christmas the last few years. If "free to air" disappeared here, or when "free to air" goes through times when there's nothing on, we've got enough to watch without signing up for anything.
I also get CDs from the OP shops because often we like to have music on rather than the TV, and I really don't want to sign up for Spotify.
And I've started using Libby rather than buying books in the OP shop. I've never (or very, very rarely) purchased new books, but my OP shop book purchases were $1-$3 * 5 books a week or so for a while there ($500/year). Since I started using Libby about a year ago, I think I've spent about $10 on books but have read a whole lot more!
We haven't purchased alcohol since before my husband's accident 7 years ago, and not much before that.
At work, I use the coffee that is supplied. Some of my work colleagues go out once or twice a day and buy a coffee, but that adds up ($5/coffee * 5 days of work) = $25 * 52 = $1300.00.
I also bring my own lunch which costs about $3-$4, rather than going out and spending $10-$30 for lunch.
Visit OP shops and Tip shops for furniture and other household items. Our dining room table is a gorgeous antique, fold down solid wood table we got for $150 rather than the $500+ you see in furniture stores. We picked up a glass-top metal table for our deck for about $30 rather than $100+.
Grow your own food.
Eat a predominantly vegetarian diet.
Cut out cookies, cakes, pastries, bars of chocolate, etc. from the grocery list and diet.
Collect rain water off the roof (and from the sky) in a rain water tank for the veggies.
Plant drought hardy native vegetation rather than a lawn - saves on water and a lawn mower.
Cut back on the vitamin/mineral supplements and eat foods with those items instead.
Use solar lights outside - for Christmas decorations, for motion detection lights.
Use the bus rather than an individual motor vehicle where possible.
If you use a motor vehicle, park for free. I do drive partway to work, but then I park for free and take the bus the rest of the way into the city. The bus costs me about $30/month. Meanwhile, those who drive into the city and park there are paying about $300/month.
For a few years, gym memberships were $2000/year for the two of us. So we decided to spend the $2000 on a piece of equipment for our home gym each year instead. We bought a good quality rowing machine and treadmill, set up the bicycles with a Zwift system, and got a Pilates reformer and some weights equipment. Now we've got what we need for years to come.

One big money-saving tip is … do not go into debt. The interest is a huge expense best avoided. I have been in debt a few times over the years but never over $15,000 and I paid it off as quickly as I could to avoid the interest.

Thrifty living: I do most of the things people have suggested. Being born just after WW2 we had rationing until I was as six. Many things were scarce and we were taught to make do and mend. My mother was constantly in debt, and I grew up determined to avoid debt, and have done so my whole life. I am hard wired to get value for money, and go for good quality, and happily buy quality second hand over newer less quality. I love a bargain and will always ask for discount under the premise’if you don’t ask, you don’t get!’
One downside is that we were also taught that you don’t throw things that ‘might be useful’ away. DH and I are currently working on changing that habit as we have too much stuff, (some of it waiting for repair’) that we will never need.
Our poor magnolia is putting out a second flush of buds. It’s obviously responding to our normal summer weather after the numerous heatwaves as spring weather!
Normal Saturday. Local shopping, chores, crafting, reading, watching TV, exercise yada yada yada ….🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Terry- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
I have finally caught up. Any comments I would have made have already been made. I am in awe of the educations many of you have accomplished. Big high school graduation parties are a thing here. I told my daughters that I expected them to graduate from High School. A family get together was what they would get. When they graduated college, I would give them a party. Oldest daughter graduated from UK and chose really nice dinner out-hehe! This line of conversation has added dimension to each of you in my mind. ;)
I have taken your advice and tried to do things a little at a time. Tried being the operative word. In spite of the heat, my beds were a mess with weeds and tree starts. Started as I was only going to go 15 mins….finished the two front beds with edging about 5 hours later. A couple of days later, I weeded one small bed before work, then finished the other big one and one small one that evening. Now I am walking those beds every day to pull any strays or tree shoots. They look pretty and I am getting my "grounding" in! I am always barefoot outside. I just have to be careful of the nuts in the yard!
As stressful and busy as this month has been, it has been good (I think). I have accomplished a lot of things. I started adding stuffs to my calendar that I kept forgetting to do. This helps me in developing certain habits/routines. I think I just feel like my life has been a bucking bronco lately and I need to tame it a little. Sitting still has been really hard. Small projects nagging at me to get done. Small steps is really kicking in. I thoroughly enjoyed the short visit with my sister! We were up until 3 AM talking. Yes, I paid for it for the next couple of nights, but so worth it! I can't tell you the last time she and I just got to sit and talk. My DH joined us for dinner, then told us goodnight. It was enjoyable. She loved the guest bed. I felt comfortable in the state of the house. It is rarely messy but often dusty. I dusted the week before and that was good enough. A couple of things my sister told me that stuck with me. Her friend was bad mouthing her own body/weight. My sister told her two things….1) Quit talking to my friend that way! If you wouldn't say it to me, then don't think it for yourself. 2) If you gain weight and your husband refuses to have relations with you, then you are married to the wrong person. My DH has loved me from 93 pounds to 155 pounds to 110 pounds back to 140 pounds. He has always been supportive and tells me he loves me for me, not my weight. K and I did spend a short time in my closet. She said I have great taste in dresses. We got rid of two that I knew weren't right, but had bought as they were cute. They got donated. Now to find time to go clothes shopping for my body right now in the pants department.
My new/old doctor (she left practice then returned) said I was doing wonderfully. My blood work looks great other than I need to drink more water. A little dehydrated. She said the extra weight looks good on me and provides a buffer for illness. She told me to quit stressing, eat as well as I can in the moment, and keep moving. It is amazing how seeing a doctor you like helps the blood pressure. The one I had been seeing after MJ left stressed me out! We didn't see eye to eye on anything. I was actually getting ready to change practices when MJ came back. So all is good in the medical arena for me. DH has had gout 3 times now. Each time it has occurred when an injury has happened. They just tested his uric acid for a base line. I am not sure what to feed him as purines are high or moderate in most of what he eats. Though….breakfast for dinner (eggs) is good, so there is that!
My DYD and family have been on vacation at my sister's place. I was asked to just stop by on way to and from work to pick up dishes (am) and feed (pm). Well, the other girl who had early AM and late PM has only been going over at night. The poor dogs! I have been doing the morning needs before work. The old Blue heeler has something intestinal going on. Clean up on floor isn't a big deal, however…..I am now tired of trying to clean the carpet! This was occurring before they left, so they are aware. One of their cats has hot spots so is sporting a doughnut. He went into hiding the second day and I was freaked out! The other lady sent me a picture that night letting me know he had been sighted. Since then he has been seen each time. Where he was hiding with that doughnut is beyond me! The second cat usually hides when people come in, but has wanted lots of attention! He is really soft like my Cali though short haired. Their third cat is a crazy old lady (18yo). She stays in their bedroom. Her meows are like screams. She too has enjoyed the attention when I am over there. I will be glad when they are home though. I am fighting the urge to go in a clean the way I like it before they come home……not my home, wasn't asked to help, leave it alone! They are adults. It is cleaner and neater than it has been in years, but still like an overstuffed/overflowing closet. They could get rid of half the stuff and it would still be too much. It is cleaner though.
Ginny- I am so happy that you are okay. If I had seen the news I would have reached out, so am thankful you reached out to let me know you were okay. Your next chapter is so exciting.
Tina- I understand the urge to travel. My DH is getting better, but with the limited sight, he isn't comfortable in unfamiliar places. I am glad you had a good time on your trip though.
Heather- I am excited for you and your next cruise. I know you have been waiting.
Pip- I know you will add the right family member to your home. My kittens are becoming pretty good mousers! It is a good thing I am not afraid of their gifts.
To one and all, I know there was more I wanted to comment on, but I must get moving this morning. I have enjoyed the pictures, stories, sharing, and jokes. I have laughed, hugged, cried, welcomed, and encouraged each of you as I have read.
Keep on making the best decisions you can in the moment. It is only a bad decision if we don't learn from it.
Stay cool/warm wherever you are. Like so many of you we have been hot and humid with more rain days than sunny days. The upside is it make pulling weeds easier in moist ground. I won't complain about the heat, just need some more sunshine.
Thank you all for being here!
Much love,

Sorry your place needs so much work after that tornado.
I assume all that has to happen before you put it up for sale?

Saving money/debt- I spend the early part of my adult life in severe debt. While in the Philippines, my ex and I had to make do with what we had. I made meal plans and made $20 feed and cloth us (2 babies) for 15 days. The advantage was we came back stateside debt free, but still had no savings. We culture shocked coming back stateside. Everything was so expensive and so fast paced. Overseas the military provided furniture. We had to furnish a whole house back in the states. Money was always an issue. I came into this relationship at 30k in debt. When we got married over 15 years later, I was down to 5K in debt. DH could have paid it off at any time, but it was not his to do so. I made those choices, so I needed to remedy it. I now pay off credit card each month, having money saved, and enjoy doing things I love. The funny thing to me, is that after years of "wanting" things, I rarely shop for anything. There are ways I could save money, like shopping ads, checking prices, etc, but I don't have the time in my life right now. It may be I am still in the honeymoon phase of not having to worry about it. There are things I would change to save money, but they are easier status quo for DH. I have heard it said that the rich get rich by being frugal. I just want to live comfortably and if I leave something to my kids/grands so be it. If not, well, then I enjoyed life! I do turn off power strips. I don't buy a lot of processed foods (I still buy bread). I tend to keep clothes for a really long time. I can make a pound of ground meat last several meals. Our entertainment cost for internet, phones, tv, and music is stupid high though. If DH was not a consideration, I could save about $400 per month. I would keep only my cell phone and the internet. Direct TV, Sirius radio, home phone, and part of paid music would go away. These are things he wants though……
I really have to go water plants before work! ;)
