England women are in the final of the football World Cup. Apparently, it was the most agonising game. Again. 😝

Machka, when our GSD Rex got skunked we tried quarts and quarts of tomato juice. Alas, it was not effective for us. This morning Mooch found something really disgusting (bear poop?) and rolled in it, either to conceal or enhance the skunk scent. Into the tub with good ol’ Dr. Bronner’s castile soap. Got rid of the poop smell but not the skunk. Ugh. Really hope the groomer has a magic potion. Also hope your energy level picks up. Mine too!

Allie what others have said, so glad your cousins are taking good care of you and treating you right. How do you like Tennessee?

Margaret, pink and blue blossoms on the same hydrangea? Pockets of pH difference in the soil? Or just your magic green thumb?

Tracey sorry to learn the training position is restricted to RNs. Was thinking the company could use your training skills to teach office and accounting staff non-medical procedures and systems…

Mo stick to your guns. Both your DS and your DH will figure it out. ;} Love the Rose pics.

Terri you almost make me want to join those accountability groups, I still miss mfp’s newsfeed.

Lisa brava for successful PT exercises!

Education, I’m ashamed to confess I totally squandered the opportunities Mama and Papa scrimped and saved to give me. Neither had a HS diploma, Papa left after the 8th grade to help support his mother, sister and brothers. Mama put herself through a business course to do better than the waitressing that sustained her after the orphanage. I worked part time through the 4 years of university to cover some of my expenses but they made up the rest. Then I failed to graduate. Didn’t turn in papers. Incomplete was my most frequent grade. Ten years later, the company I worked for had a tuition reimbursement plan, so I earned a BS in Transportation while working full time. Mama and Papa finally got to see me graduate, and were pleased that it was Summa…

    Action for happiness:
22-Three hopeful things::Joe continues to develop a positive reaction to little glitches, is friendly to Mooch, and is getting out of the chair almost every day to putter around getting the house ready for winter.
    OMG room progress
Day 8 Tuesday, really looked looked and found a pile of papers, and stuff to do on the desk. Thinking that could yield somethings to remove… Thanks again, Barbie!

    Later, lighter, lovelies!

July focus: Just one thing from the OMG room. Really.
2025: Chose NOW: to move more than yesterday (see action plan), fuel better than yesterday (hold that after dinner sweet down to two pieces of dark chocolate max), open heart and mind before mouth

just a quick check in- I will try and catch up tomorrow- 4 pages behind as of now.
Weekend went well with mom. Food program was good. I think we had about 120 families get food. Only had a few hours of sleep the night before after getting mom's late after aqua zumba and the drive up. She always naps after food program- we are up by 4AM on Saturday. I actually laid down and rested/napped an hour. Made a great dinner which she really enjoyed- salmon, pasta with shrimp, yellow squash and cucumbers from her garden. Too full for dessert. I tried to talk to her about the trust/medical power of attorney, etc. She said that was a good idea that she would call her lawyer and get them done. I was pretty sure she had them done when dad passed away.
Sunday morning she decided she didn't want me to drive her to church, she wanted to drive herself- Usually I drop her off, I go visit my aunt then go pick up mom when she is done. She was in a bit of a mood so I said that was fine. It worked out better in the long run. I got to visit with my aunt(took a cherry pie plus some of the blackberries from the ones my dad/her brother had planted-made them extra special), then I drove on up to Cloverdale and visited with my sister. She saw a post on FB and knew I was at mom's for the weekend. I didn't really want to go but did. She had me stop and get her a soda and snacks. We actually had a great visit. She is in a care home after fracturing two vertebrae and having a stroke. She is in a brace for her back and in a lot of pain still- has been over a month but the only issues from the stroke are numbness below the knee in her left leg and a bit of incontinence -hard when she has a hard time getting out of bed, getting her walker and walking to the bathroom. One odd thing is she has lost her voice for two weeks. No fever, no sore throat,
Sad story about one of her two room mates- girl is about 20 yrs old. She was sitting in the back seat of her boyfriend's car and a hit and run drunk driver ran a stop sign and hit the car broadside- she is now paralysed from just above her waist. She seems in very good spirits. They order take out and were happy with the snacks I brought because the food has a lot to be desired. My sister said after seeing Samantha and her other roommate, she sees what she is dealing with isn't really that bad. She will get better and be able to walk without a walker again.

So, I got back to mom's she wasn't home- she had text to tell me she was going to Walmart. I worked in the garden a bit and was just about ready to just head home when she finally got home. I brought up the legal papers again and mentioned that I thought she had done them and she said she was sure she had and she needs to get copies for me. I was stressed about talking to her- how to get the talk started. She was fine, she said it was important, not morbid, We left things very positive. No, I didn't actually look at the paperwork like dh kept telling me I HAVE to do now, but I will be sure to do it next time. It was getting late and I needed to head home-2 1 /2 hrs later than planned
We will be stopping to see her next Tuesday as we have an appointment with the same firm she uses for dh to take care of his mom's stuff.

Drank an energy drink before class last night- too strong for me I guess- didn't get to sleep until 4AM- Going to head for bed now- hope to get a bit more sleep.
Dh is laying down now but will be up in half an hour to go to work. He informed me today that today is his last shift for a while. He just decided he doesn't want to work anymore. He retired early 10yrs ago. He only works a shift and a half a week. He mentioned he was going to take a leave of absence mid Nov. through the holidays- didn't expect him to do it in July.

mom feels the same way- completely- it is very overwhelming for her, so much to do and not enough energy to do it or the want to. She has no plans on leaving the ranch and after she passes, is cremated, she will return to it and be buried next to my dad and the rest of the family that are there.

I wish the pool for class would be warm like that- We still are in the low 70's here- waiting for summer weather to show up. Hard getting out of the pool at almost 8PM and it is low 60's.

I ordered a weighted vest, ankle and wrist weights- good for strengthening bones and weight loss. Have used the vest once, need to use it again- haven't been walking since I got it. Both the xray tech and my primary doctor said it was a great idea.

    Hello, my dears,

A young woman named Dakota who does odd jobs locally for cash is supposed to be here on Sunday morning to talk to her about getting the remaining bits of siding off the eaves of the house and get the fascia boards replaced as necessary and then get it all painted. We have all the equipment and materials except paint but I didn't want to get that until it was going to be used. However, it's all ladder work, which I won't do anymore, and Corey simply doesn't have time to do. If she does it and does it well, I can get the gutters purchased and have her get those up there, too. Maybe. We'll see what she wants in terms of money to do the work on the eaves, whether she shows up when she says she will, and so on.

I did ask the guy that demolished the little house, but haven't seen him since I talked to him about it. I realized later that the reason he wanted most to do the little house work was not just the money for the job, but the materials he was able to recover… and used siding isn't material anyone wants. We'll see how it all works out. Would like to get it done so that Corey's not on a ladder that much, but we'll see if she's the right person for it.

Ginny - My stars, woman, that's a lot of damage to your house as well - glad you're OK even though your house took some damage. Sounds like your neighbors got it really badly!

Annie - I would have so much trouble with the emotional side of the whole thing with your dad. So much respect for your strength and pure stamina. I know that's not helpful, but I do hope your sister's visit is a nice break for you.

Time to get on with watering everything, etc., before the heat sets in. Then it's more work in the back bedroom and the usual houseworky stuff and such.

Have a grand day, my chicks, if it's still beginning or in progress, or hope it was a lovely Wednesday just finished for you…

Love from the hot, hot, hot Arkansas River Valley…
