Hello, My name is Pat,
I am new to this group, and to online communities in general. I'm glad to find a place where there are other women just trying to be healthy and active. I am wanting to eat better and lose some stress weight I have gained this year. Ugh! Here, in St. louis the weather has finally broken, and we can enjoy the summer again. Maybe now I can get outside after long days at work and be more active. I hope that I can encourage others in the journey too.

July Accomplishments
- Lost 11.1 kg (24.5 lbs) since the beginning of January. I did not lose anything in July, but we were on holiday for part of the month.
- Walked 104 km. July was my best month for walking in a long, long time!!
- Cycled 17 km in July which is the lowest amount I've cycled in a while. It is winter.
- Climbed 323 flights of 20 stairs up plus landings at work.
- Continued Learn to Swim classes!! I am becoming more proficient at the free style and the breaststroke.
- Rowed with our rowing machine once!
- Worked full time in July and July has been another incredibly busy month at work. Long days, bringing work home in the evenings and on the weekends.
- Medically: I refused to go to any appointments this month! Just … no!
- Face-to-face meeting with Audax Australia cycling club board. That's us in the photo.
- Bee Group.
- Attended Tasmania Symphony Orchestra Rachmaninov concert.
- Started working on the scary room in the house: the Home Office!
- Did several Sudokus - but they were easy.
- Coloured 2 pages.
- Read 4 books.
- Continued reading Bible every night.
July Books
The 5-star books this month were:
Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers - a cute cosy mystery
The Rose Code - the women in the war were amazing.
No One Will Know - set in a slightly imaginary Tasmania.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The other two were both 4 stars.

August goals:
-continue to eat 35% protein, 35% carbs and 25% fats.
- eat 100 grams of protein daily
-drink 80-100 oz of liquids daily
-go to gym with husband as much as I can. But understand some days if I am tired to acknowledge that.
-know that even when my weight has stalled, its just my body adjusting.
Today was particularly rough. Day after dose day usually are. For those that don't know, I am taking a GLP-1 injection called Zepbound, for obesity. Its not a solve all magical thing, and as long as I do the work like logging my food, paying attention, then it will work by turning down the "food noise". After a night of nausea off and on, and acid reflux, I did eat today. Not a lot but it was tough. I will persevere!
tomorrow shall be better!
Welcome all our new ladies! Know we talk of everything under the sun. We do not discuss religion, or politics though. Some of us have been friends 10+ years on here! So no need to answer all of us, you can pick and choose whichever, that's just fine. Many, (like me) post a lot for accountability. I am fairly OCD with my plan as I feel sometimes that my food intake is the only thing I do have complete control over. So for me, it works.
Chatted with both sisters yesterday. Its a comfort to have both relationships fairly solid. My eldest sister has been such a great support system, as she is on Zepbound too. She is sending me some fairly brand new clothes from her neighbor. They are sizes that I am in right now, but shirts that have never been in a dryer, so maybe I can shrink them somewhat. Or sell them if I float in them.
Tomorrow is a good day for a good day!

In August
I will have to deal with some medical things. I broke a tooth with silver amalgam while on holiday and will need to get it fixed. I'm thinking it might be contributing to the headaches I've had in the past week.
I've also got a whole pile of family birthdays and anniversaries coming up this month.
Beekeeping and cycling are ramping up for spring.
And work won't be slowing down at all. I was working on something till midnight last night.

Good morning:
Looks like I have to deal with a cat issue today. I had noticed a couple of places where one of them was urinating on the floor. Lucy (my torti) has been know to urinate on papers on the floor but this was unusual. Zombu (gray with Siamese in her) was hiding much of yesterday, but since family was around and things were getting moved I didn't think much about it. When she came out I noticed that she is having trouble walking with her hind leg-almost like her right leg is collapsing. She can't jump. When walking she is more dragging the rear. She is eating and drinking water. Calling vets office when they open at 8 - I think she really needs to be seen. No idea what it may be but Dr. Vet Google has some conditions that sound similar to her and they aren't good.😕
Have to get some stuff cleaned out quickly-brother and nephew coming at 8:30 to take furniture stuffs the family wants.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Diabetes.
Sounds very much like my cat Sabre. He developed diabetes when he was 7. I read once that black cats, tuxedo cats and oriental cats were more prone to developing diabetes.
With Sabre, I started giving him insulin twice a day, and within a couple weeks, he was as good as new. He was running about and his rear legs were as strong as they were before.
He finally passed away when he was 16. He was such a wonderful boy and had a long, comfortable, happy life.

Good morning my friends!
I planned to go walking this morning but now my foot hurts. The broken part isn't healing. Hmm.
Machka Yay for July walking!
Pat welcome! Online communities are only as good as the people in them, and we are the best!
Ginny good luck with your cats.
May you all be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

Machka - Yes-I read about diabetes and that may be it. I am encouraged she is eating and drinking. I'm not sure at her advanced age (16) what treatments I would put her through. First step though is to call vet office at 8 am here and push for visit today. Don't want to move her to Columbus tomorrow without know what is going on with her.
Annie - are you still seeing doctor for your foot?

In an attempt to do more cycling this month than last … I got out for a ride today that was, in fact, longer than my only ride last month.
I've been doing a few things around the house, and a few paperwork things and lots of reading … now I need to set up my work computer and get to work. On a Saturday evening.

Tina - love those photos, thank you so much for sharing. What I like about the UK and Ireland is the beautiful architecture - amazing to think of those buildings erected during the middle ages (and some earlier) without the aid of modern engineering and cranes. The USA is pretty young by comparison.

Tina - Love, love LOVE the photos. I never got to Ireland during my time in the UK, and feel I really missed out.
Lanette - That was exactly the feeling, that sense of awe at seeing buildings older than any I had ever seen before. I used to sit on a stone wall around a small churchyard cemetery that served as the bus stop in Reading, where I worked on the British economy for a number of years. Loved just soaking in the sense of ages and lives long gone.
Annie - Sorry the foot is giving you gyp. Hope it's healing better than you think. Sounds like it's time to get it checked, though.
Ginny - Fingers crossed that Zombu isn't in pain or too terribly ill.
Kelli, Pat and anyone I've missed, welcome! Rebecca has already described us well. Hope you can find us again and feel comfortable jumping in. New members are always welcome.
I've had a busy early morning already - Corey's jeans are in the wash, and they'll go out on the line soon. Got his coffee made, and then cut up a bunch more tomatoes and got them roasting. After that, got the cutting board along with all the grates and other things off the top of the stove into the dishwasher. Sprayed down the outside of the stove with cleaner, and will go by and squirt it a couple more times as I go in and out of the laundry room - then just wipe it down with one wet and one dry cloth. Easy way to clean a stovetop!
And about ten days' production of Corey's tomatoes. Those roma plants produce like mad here, and roasted down with some olive oil and a little salt and cracked black pepper, they make a great tomato sauce to cook with almost anything:
Later, my dears,

Morning ladies,
Sold my grandparents 17th century Dutch tavern table, that Sean inherited because they are cleaning out the house and didn't want it going in the trash.
We had many dinners on that at both my parents and grandparents ..the rungs on the bottom have worn indentations from boots..the auctioner who bought it his dad and my grandpa were friends and both antique dealers
Hope you enjoyed the pics of the munchkins yestrrday ,Delia sure likes to eat and get into mischief

Allie - glad the table has gone to a good home. Those big pieces are gorgeous, but hard to find a space for. 💖
Ginny - so sorry about your cat. 😓
WELCOME to the newcomers! I am just coming up to 13 years on here! 😲 But please don't be put off. Just read and reply to one or two people, if you feel like it. Remember, we love a name of some kind, as a sign off, and an approximate location. We were all new once. 🤩
John has brought all the bits of my new cupboard upstairs for me. It's really heavy! Right now it's just in pieces against the alcove wall. I'm pretty confident that it will be fine. I want to get it up before I decide whether to paint my canvas landscape, or portrait. I've bought some new acrylic paints in toning colours. First, I want to get the chair together. I also need a small oblong cushion for the chair to pull the colours together. Having fun, playing with ideas. 😊
Annie - I hope your foot is OK. 😚
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Ginny what do you feed your cats. Cats are strictly carnivores so when they go on the dry kibble diet it can make them more prone to diabetes and urinary track infections. Dogs can tolerate some carbs but not much.
Pat Welcome…I grew up in the St. Louis area so I love going back to visit. I was so sorry to hear about Clayton and Forest Park.
Went to a classical concert with a friend last night. The concert was wonderful…She drove…It was packed. The drive there was fine. Unfortunately going home our entrance was closed. It took 30 minutes to get out of the ramp because they played to a packed house and with getting lost in downtown Minneapolis driving through another concert that let out it took us 45 minutes to find our route out. I left my phone and glasses at home because she had a phone. She normally doesn't use GPS. Finally after many wrong turns she got out her phone to find our way. When finally made it home at midnight I joked I feel like I need to hide for awhile. Feel like going through the 7 plagues…finding a dead rabbit and birds on my property, ground wasps, air pollution, bad storms, DrewB chewing deck, worst detours in time I have lived here, stepping in dog poop.So that makes 7 and hopefully the end of this streak…
Learned…Next time I will take my own phone and have my glasses on the ready…
What I am grateful for is having the best son and dog in the whole wide world… With son just went to a wonderful South American Music Concert at a lovely outside park with children running with streamers and people dancing and clapping to the music. Example for DrewB little girl across the street leaned on her back and she did not react. She does teach me patience…A beautiful home to live in where I can sit and enjoy my coffee while looking out over my garden. Overall excellent health due to my diet and active lifestyle. Singing with a great choir…Painting with a talented group of other painters…gardening so I can enjoy flowers both inside and out all summer season long…Fitting into my skinny jeans again. Friends that invite me to concerts and going out to lunch.

Machka ~ Are you the only female in your cycling club? Just wondering…🚴
Ginny ~ Hope your kitty can be helped. She has had a long life!
Annie ~ Sounds like a very busy day and hope you enjoy!
Lisa ~ Those tomatoes look wonderful. Good luck on cleaning your stove. Ours never looks clean and shiny any more.
Pip ~ Are you training Ethel to be a rescue dog? That ladder climb looks scary.
Allie ~ Love Delia's blue eyes and smile. She looks so happy.
Granddaughter made the high school varsity track team yesterday even though that was her first day in 9th grade. So proud of her achievements. She came in second place behind all the other varsity runners.

I am the only female on the board of our cycling club. Audax Australia has 1000-ish members across Australia.
In long distance cycling the percentage of females is generally low. I'm not sure what it is in our club ... maybe 10 or 20% are female.
My position on the board is Regional President and my region is Tasmania. In Audax Tasmania (a region of Audax Australia), I am the only active female member with a full annual membership but there are a few other females who get temporary memberships and participate in a ride or two now and then.

Ginny: I hope you managed to get a vet consultation for your cat.
Lisa: Impressive harvest. Ours are slow to ripen, and not as productive as in previous years.
Machka: I’m in awe of how much you achieve each month.
The hot humid weather has returned today. We are just not used to this level of heat. Fortunately, we have a north facing lounge which is much cooler than the rest of the house, and the bottom of our garden is wooded. Normally I have our loungers on the sunny terrace outside our French windows, but this year they have been left in the shade.

Vince bowled in the afternoon on Wed. We prebowled for this past Monday and I accidentally wrote on the paper that it was for Wednesday seniors but the lady at the bowling alley said that she’d fix it so that our prebowl scores applied to Monday.
Went on the stairstepper Thurs. Went to ceramics, finished my shell and J&C came here late in the day. Of course, Friday was the soup kitchen. Tonight I lector at the church.
M – sometimes I think the Ozempic is used more as a crutch than anything else. Oh, I’m sure there are people who it helps. Really, 40 pounds isn’t overwhelming. I’ve never taken Ozempic, wonder if it just curbs your appetite?
Lisa – you’re right, J&C like to eat later in the day. J has asked us so many times how to save money and we always say “don’t eat out as often”. But does it happen? I guess part of me would like them to eat at home more often and see how much can be saved. J did say something (I don’t know how serious she was about this)about buying a toaster oven. I guess I just have to leave it up to them. I guess part of it is that I like to plan (like what we’re going to be having) and they like to just put things off. Like I’ll plan and take out of the freezer what we need.
It’s just misting out so I took Ganon for a walk. J&C were putting together shelves for their food. Vince had already said where it could go since he’d measured it. Really, the main reason was because that was where Ganon’s water and food bowls were and we’d really like for him to be downstairs. Really, Ganon is their pet. I don’t have a problem taking him for walks after work or after dinner since that’s what I do anyway. I just won’t take him to Food Lion mainly because he gets anxious when a car goes by in our development, what would he do on the road there? I won’t chance it. The other day Amazon made a delivery right as I was about to take him out. The truck made this loud noise, Ganon, even tho he has to go, wouldn’t go until the truck left. I suspect J would be very happy if I took complete care of Ganon, but I do NOT want a dog, no matter how wonderful he/she is. Four cats is enough, thank you very much.
Colby was going to put their food in the back bedroom. Why, I really don’t know. We keep the door closed so that the cats don’t go in since I have my jigsaw puzzle there. Every time you open the door, a cat could go in. He said that he wants their being here to be as little intrusiveness as possible. To me, it would make more sense to have all the food in the kitchen. Well, what finally happened is that the shelves with the food went where Vince wanted it. And we still have to make room for the furniture that is on the enclosed porch that has to come in when they rebuild the deck.
Speaking of the deck: called and they said there was a bit of a misunderstanding about the position of the septic. So they had to resubmit the approval application
When J&C eat out (like last night) they put the leftovers in the fridge. There is just so much room in the fridge. And you know how the take out containers are….so huge. There’s a big container with cake in it, wish they’d finish it up. Unfortunately, when it’s so full, you don’t see the food in the back. Oh well….
Dogs and food: everyone is so right, people food isn’t the best at all. Oh, a snack now and then won’t hurt. But not all the time. They need certain nutrients that aren’t in our food.
One tree is starting to turn yellow. Boo!!!!!
Rita – could you give Lucy a sedative when she goes in the car? I believe J gives Ganon gabapentin. One time my doc asked me if I was drinking enough water and my answer was “you name the store, I can tell you where the bathroom is!”
We had some rainstorm yesterday. Right after I took Ganon out, I was going to take him for a walk but never got to it, it started to rain huge drops. So we came inside and, boy, did it ever pour! The bad part is that we saw that there’s a part of the gutter that seems to be clogged so that’s one more thing we need to do. C said that he’d do it.
Flea – yummy yummy
Water bottle – I have one of the Taz bottles, got it at WalMart. But it is well insulated and has a straw in it, so it works well at the gym.
Crochet: I like to crochet but I never was able to do the crochet in the round. Don’t know why.
OMG a new thread for August. Where IS the time flying to. I’d really like to know why it seems that summer flies by but winter drags on and on. Well, see you all in August
Sandy – great to see you
Kelli – welcome! I’ve never gotten messages from guys wanting to know where I’m from, etc. But I have gotten a lot of friend requests from guys and I just delete them. I’ve had quite a few from this one guy. You would think he’d get the message that I don’t want to be friends? Oh, it’s probably just some MFP bot that sends them out. To be honest, I don’t have the time or the inclination to answer any questions if I were to get them.
Heather - sorry about your old boyfriend. Boy, you have done and met some very neat people
pip – I keep meaning to ask you, how is Kirby? Does he still have effects from the accident? Ethel looks so at home with you guys
Tina – you only put gas in your car two or three times a YEAR??? Did you maybe meant month?
Pat – welcome
Carol – congrats to your granddaughter
Guess I’d better go and get prepared for lectoring.

Thank you all for you good thoughts regarding Zombu. We went to the vet and she is at peace now. Vet determine she had tumor on left side of head (I thought her right looked strange and sunken but that was because of the swelling in the right. She had lost nearly a pound since she had been there two weeks ago. Vet outlined options (all of which were aggressive and expensive) and at 16 I decided to let her go. Surgery for the tumor would take half of her face. Testing for other ailments wouldn't solve her problems. So, just Lucy will travel with me.

After doing our 4 mile walk, we dropped off 2 of the dogs and took the new member, Ethel to Costco, the bank then home. She walk a total of 6 miles, then we put her in the buggy for the first time and Lucy’s cooling coat fit her (soaked in cool water). There’s an attachment that I hook her into. She jumped out 3 times, expected, then she settled down after that, no problem. We walked a total of 10.42 miles.

kirby just has a new normal that he is now used to. He’s developed what’s called central chord syndrome. Not much they can do about it.to make sure he doesn’t have an accident while walking (bowel movement) he has to wear a diaper. I take a backpack and carry an emergency kit. If we walk by a public restroom he can cleanup. I have extra pear of shorts, underwear, wipes, diaper, etc. in the beginning I could tell he was embarrassed but my talking to him and continued reassurance, he’s okay now. I would tell him about my taking care of Lenny when he was sit and having to give him a bath, change the the bedsheets when he soiled them was just part of being a wife, it’s just what you do and that was when he was 34. I’ve had to clean kirby a few times in the shower, it’s not a big deal to me, it’s just what you have to do. Part of being married.
