Original is a pencil drawing by a local 10th grader, copied onto a plastic signboard, and hung on a trail-side fence as part of a county art project.

I love the joy and the movement in this piece.

The quality of the work in the “student artists” section equals or exceeds a lot of the adult stuff.

One of the best exhibitions I ever saw was a profesionally curated exhibit of student art at the ARoS Aarhus Museum of Art in Denmark. Atlanta airport has a good student exhibition on one of the concourses, too.

I thought so but I’m only familiar with the biggies. I’ve got a wonderful folk art version of The Woman in Gold. I met the painter (I’m a huge fan and own many of her pieces) and mentioned it. She had no recollection of ever painting it, and wasn’t familiar with the Klimt original. But it’s definitely her very unique take on it.

Are you familiar with Hundertwasser? I bet you’d like his work.

I was ready to cover a wall in our den with his foil enhanced posters (since obvs can’t afford the real thing 😭), but my husband wasn’t having it, lol. You either love his art or hate it.

This sculpture "mother playing with her children" is symbolic to me, as my children are my world 😊 in my eyes it shows happiness, love, care, safety, fun, nurturing and the eternal bond of family ❤️

double sided “brocade” tzute, handwoven by a master weaver on a backstrap loom by a Mayan weaver, so called because this type of work is so fine, the pattern on both sides is identical, with no visible loose ends.

This is not embroidery and it’s not needlepoint. It’s hand weaving.

Or so wide, which is the most the backstrap loom can accomodate. Weavers wrap one end around their waist and hook the other to a tree branch or a hook in a wall. The strips are then carefully sewn together.

Special occasion piece that can take 8 months to weave. Usually made by the wearer herself, because too valuable to sell. Used for church, weddings, etc as a shawl, head wrap, or draped over an arm sorta like a maitre d, to show it off.

This is art, artistry and magic all rolled into one. They have been doing this for hundreds, if not thousands, of years, using nothing but string and sticks of bamboo.

I like many artists considered artists that paint the Florida Highwayman paintings.
