7/30 ⚖️ 132.8lbs. Solid day. 🎾2 hrs. 👣8k 🤸🏼🏋️♀️⏱️📖💦. Heat wiped me out. Nutrition off, but not awful. (🚫protein goals) Will simplify my posting this round. Tracking all measures - will relay highlights here. Long-term goal: ⬇️BF %! Let’s do this! 💪🏻 Remembering my WHY!7/31 132.0lbs Yesterday was a perfect day! 🏆💓🚶♀️👣🤸🏼⏱️🏋️♀️💦 📖 Love the weighted vest (WV) cuzz it gets me to 💓Z2 & 60 +- mins super efficiently first thing in the morning. Then work in 🤸🏼🏋️♀️⏱️ 📖the rest of the day. I am grateful. I look good. I’m healthy. It’s so easy to just forget about everything else on the movement to do “list”… Progress not perfection. I do have to keep reminding myself that every action item is important. I don’t have to do every single one every day, but if I get the majority done, it’s a win! No shortcuts. “Mother-time” will definitely catch-up with me if I don’t keep moving. It’s so easy to give in. I have to constantly remind myself to keep on. It’s NOT a habit. Note: I ALWAYS feel better when I fully ✅ every “to do”. Most of all, it’s definitely time for some more joy & smiles throughout my day as I’m activating #HSF …
NSV: 800 jumps yesterday @ local Rec gym w / darling Tucker. I took him to shoot a few hoops in the A/C gym and brought my jump rope… We had a great time.

8/1 DNW Ate much too late last night including dessert! Even though I rationally realize that I could not have gained ACTIAL weight from yesterday’s intake- I still didn’t want to experience the scale fluctuation, so I did not weigh! 🚶♀️40 min 👣 8k 🤸🏼🏋️♀️💦.
Just played 3hrs 🎾tennis & the heat did me in! Will hydrate & relax the remainder of the day. 3hrs of 🎾only 8k 👣no energy for more (as of this moment). Feeling mentally strong, grateful and present.

This is why I don’t weigh when I eat out late. No TMI for days & bloated. So let’s evaluate briefly.
Four pounds?
2x late out restaurant food. Grilled Caesar with tuna w/ just a wee bit of pasta and I mean a wee bit! High-protein lunch (50g) & under 500 cal… right after 🎾. Tennis court for three hours. Go figure.
Oh, cottage cheese the last two days - guessing that’s “me and dairy” again. Breaking that habit will be very, very tough. Or restaurant food with unknown hidden ingredients/chemicals? Something in restaurant food does NOT agree with me (seed oils? Preservatives?) I eat clean, simple ingredients the vast majority of all meals and then two days restaurant food… ?) Hmmm…
Keep the faith, Carolyn and keep with your plan! Clean, clean, clean. And, I love clean! Flank steak w/ watermelon salad tonight.

8/3 DNW Almost 🚫sleep last night as predictable since the Hospital project is on my mind again. I had a good day yesterday-but I ate TWO “scratch” cookies at my friends home. (spur of the moment visit w /friend with ALS that took up the entire afternoon- 3hrs in car). I was able to get in 🚶♀️💓10k 👣 WV walk. Focus on hydration &🏋️♀️💓⏱️ today. We enjoyed our flank steak & watermelon salad last night, but ate far too late! I hope everyone has a great Sunday! I’ve decided to not be obsess w/scale⚖️ at this juncture because I know I’m eating ok, but retaining cortisol, stress and not sleeping. I won’t see positive results while I’m in that zone. Will sweat, breathe, smile, stretch & 🙏 today!
8/4. I feel horrible because I just remembered all of you. This morning I forgot to ⚖️. That means I forgot me! That means I did not prioritize my health! Will shoot for a better day. 💪🏻(Hospital zone! 🚫!)

8/6 133.8 weight def. trending up. I’m not over-eating. However, I’ve been eating later than usual & I’ve refused to give up cottage cheese. I know that’s it! Cals avg 1400 - with my activity that should be fine, but go figure. It’s kinda sad experiencing a slow, weight gain without binging! Or even one scotcharoo!!! 🤣

I read an interesting article yesterday on the benefits of walking. FWIW: This article sited many studies (well documented) stating that 👣7K steps is the 🎯. I will lower my goal to be 8k to 10k per day & use that time for mobility/balance. 🤸🏼keeping Z2💓 goal (oh yeah, and that darn 🏋️♀️keeps alluding me!). One hour of zone two and 30 minutes of 🏋️♀️🤸🏼⏱️ should be a sweet spot for the next month - till 9/9. Hoping 132.x returns by the end of this round. 💦💦💦 💪🏻

8/7 134.0. Well, this round has been a loser and I don’t mean that in a good sense! I started off with wanting to lose 5 pounds in six weeks and I gained this round and I seriously do not know why… The only thing I can think of is, I’m retaining stuff from eating late and my body is not processing. I am puffy and bloated & I’m thinking it’s dairy. Four days I was anticipating a 72-hour fast and forgot about it! WTH?Next round I’m going to put on a 10-day weight-loss mindset and grind it out… May only lose a wee-bit, but it’s the mindset and determination that I need to change. I think I’m just lackadaisically going along as my mind was adrift yesterday. When I wake up, thinking about the hospital project my morning routine blows out the door. I’m thinking about setting an alarm that goes off 30 minutes after I wake up. Once I break my morning routine, the rest of the day is junk.Where the heck are my jumps? I’ve totally forgotten! I walked less than 2k steps… I was tied to the laptop and I would not allow myself to break away. I will flip the switch today! We do have a night out tomorrow night - a celebration … so a solid day today and then start 8/9. 💪🏻Determined to have a positive day & stay present.

This will be a short lived scale reading. Too much of a drop for one day. My calories were low yesterday but they included 500 calories worth Kirkland Super Extra-Large Peanuts. I love those things.Regarding this group, I like how it is more than just us weight-tracking for ten days. We all have a somewhat unique quirk we are working on. The quirks are a combination of weight, strength, BF%, mobility, alcohol, macros, logging, exercise, breaking habits. I am learning from you all.

Scale is in the guest bathroom, and we have company. DW sister and husband here for a family reunion. Just as well; I ate out for two meals yesterday, both of which were too-much-quantity and very salty. This will make a dent in my Ten-Day average. My body spent all night writing a letter to me.So, there is a family reunion picnic tonight. I wish I was more of an extrovert so I could spend more time blabbing and less time eating. My thought bubble will say “just one more thing from the potluck buffet….” Heaven forbid that there are scotcharoos.

Yesterday we were scheduled to watch 8yo DGS. It turned into watching 20mo DGD as well. While I love them both dearly, it was like being in a meat grinder. HA! In my retirement I gave grown accustomed to not being “on-point” all day long. DW and I were exhausted at day’s end. Today is an off day.Kudos to all parents (and grandparents) who devote every day to the health and wellbeing of their children.

Rnd 303 Ending Weight: 143.37/30: 142.9. It seems like my weight is actually starting to come down, after far too long being stuck around 144-145. I'm very excited about that.
Food was decent yesterday, although I didn't track again. I went for a walk, but took a rest day from running.
I've been toying with the idea of running a half marathon for a while, and I finally made the plunge and signed up for one at the end of October. I would really like to be a lot closer to my goal weight by then, so it's time to really get serious. I have just under 90 days, so plenty of time to lose a few pounds.
7/31: 143.4. Food was on track, I didn't have time for a walk, but did a 4 mile run.
8/1: 140.8. I'm so happy to see a swoosh. I took something to help with the constipation issues I periodically have, which I'm sure is a big contributing factor. Food was good, I went for a walk, but had to skip the gym because my husband worked late.
8/2 141.4. I didn't track food, so I don't know for sure where I landed with my food, but I think it was a good food day. I managed to squeeze in a short walk before it got too hot. And I skipped the gym because I am planning a long run this morning and wanted fresh legs for it.
8/3: 143.4. I did a long run in the morning (12 miles, my longest run ever!). It left me extra hungry for the rest of the day. Since we don't have much food in the house, I ordered food...too much of the wrong things. Today is grocery shopping day, so I'm going to try to stock up on some healthier options.
8/4: 144.3. Well, this isn't good, definitely the wrong direction. It wasn't a great weekend, food wise, but not 4 pounds worth. I'm starting to wonder if extra dairy makes me bloated. No real exercise yesterday.
8/5: 144.8. I don't know what's going on with the weight, especially after being so low last week. Maybe stress?
8/6: 144.6. I'm a bit frustrated, to be honest. I don't know why my weight is this high.
Today's going to be a busy day. My kids have physical and speech therapy this morning for 2 hours and then I have a 3 hour dentist appointment in a town an hour away (where my mom lives, so I can drop my kids off with her when I go to appointment). I'll be out of the house all day. I'm not sure what I'll do about food, but I'll try to make good choices. I've been super stressed about today and I'm looking forward to it being done.
8/7: 142.4. I'm not sure this is the win it seems. I only had one small meal yesterday after finally getting home and getting my kids to bed. My root canal/crown fitting went well yesterday, but wiped me out. Glad it is done though. I was not able to get in much movement at all. I'm hoping to get to the gym today.

7/31: 188.6 lbs—I basically started this date because I am one year into my Celiac diagnosis and I wanted something to track my nutrition. Wow! This app has changed from when I used it for free…a long time ago.

8/2: 186.1 lbs–I’m pretty jazzed. I stayed within my calories, I exercised yesterday, and I had so many calories leftover, I got to eat three GF Oreos! 🙌
8/3: 185.1 😳Kind of surprised, kind of not. I’ve never eaten this healthy before in my life. Had so many points left over, I had FOUR GF Oreos! But once those suckers are gone, they’re gone. My goal for the week was to lose 2 lbs. I guess we’ll see if I keep it off. Today I made Loopy Whisk Pancakes. NSV—I topped them with a fruit compote and did not slather them with butter. I LOVE sugar, so that was a win! 🏆
8/4: 185.9 I had less calories than yesterday, but I still weighed heavier. (Sigh) I know how this works though, so I’m not discouraged. Last night, I made a fancy meal: Jamaican Pork Tenderloin with Mango Chutney, served with Jamaican Rice & Peas and Corn on the Cob. It’s funny how losing a few pounds can make you feel so motivated to conquer the world. Exercise for me was working with my husband on emptying a storage unit. (We’re downsizing.) Today was a teaching day for my private students, so I am late on getting this posted.
8/5: 187.7 😩Again, I know how this works, but the roller coaster is frustrating. Yesterday, I used all of my calories. I think that’s okay. Today, I had my tap class, so that was my exercise. NSV—I used to get so exhausted during and following the class. Now, I’m feeling pretty good. I’m definitely building strength.
8/6: 186.8 😊Weight down this morning. Happy. No exercise today, so I’m 171 calories over. Very busy day. Went to Snooze with family for breakfast. Ordered GF Smashed Avocado Benny—no hashbrowns. (I ate half and saved half for tomorrow.) Split a GF pancake with hubby. I figured out the nutrition, which was challenging. Bookclub tonight. 🤞for tomorrow
8/7: 185.0 😳🙀This always blows my mind that offsetting (even going over) one’s calorie allotment can result in a sizeable loss. (Granted, I only went over about 360 calories.) Past thoughts were when we restrict our calories, at some point your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto water, reduces metabolism, etc. to preserve or survive. Then when we have a day where we go over that, the body is confused and thinks that starvation is over, so it “relaxes.” Not sure if science still adheres to that thought. I think that’s supposed to be the value in not having the same thing to eat all the time. In any event, I’m smiling from ear to ear this morning.
My husband finally gets that I need to stay on track 95% of the time—probably because he also wants to lose weight now…or because he’s been with me through several of these weight loss journeys now. In the past, he wanted me to have what I wanted when we went out, resulting in two steps forward and one step back weight loss. After a while, I get so frustrated that I give up. This time I want to lose weight, but more importantly, I want to feel better.

I bought tickets to fly home for Halloween to see my parents this morning - I'm already super excited for that. It's helping to motivate me to really stick to my goals so I can leave this Summer Shreds challenge feeling more in control and capable so I can show up back home and remain in control. Intuitive eating while traveling and then not being able to work out for those days (Wednesday-Monday, missing 4 days of workouts, plus the weekend) will mean I need to have a good grasp on mindfulness and listening to my body better. A bit nervous for tomorrow but I'm going to talk to BF tonight about dinner thoughts for tomorrow so I can pre-plan a bit better. It sounds like we'll stay home Saturday and Sunday to do errands and projects around the house so that gives me a bit more control there. I'll need to come up with dinner ideas and add to my grocery list since I'm buying groceries tomorrow morning.1 -

I still read articles almost daily that confirm about the metabolism slowing down if the string of low calorie days go on too long. That is the entire premise of the zig-zag diet (or calorie cycling) which I often try to follow. I do believe, based on the studies and articles I've read, that this idea is still supported today
Re: eating more calories on a given day and showing a loss the next day: ➡️ That is exactly what I have done today! I was over by hundreds on calories and DOUBLE the carbs I usually eat yesterday and I showed a small loss of 0.2 this morning when I expected a gain. HOWEVER, I must say that it is very true that it can show up on the scale a day or two later without warning! A perfect upcoming day for me may result in a baffling gain until I look back at my food diary over the past couple of days. I consider myself Not Out Of The Woods Yet.

The Philly cheesesteak was okay and fit into my macros but the ice cream was ridiculous. I didn’t know it would be that large! (ice cream tacos). Had to share with son and still too much. MUCH too much. I was hundreds over on calories, double the allowed carbs. Not enough protein, fats or fiber. Not a good choice but the scale is down today. Either it will show up later or the exercise helped even though the MFP nightly chart still shows me over after the exercise bike session. I’m hoping Lady Luck is on my side for this one. Down 0.2 today so I’ll take it with gratitude!

SW Rnd 304 296.57/30 - 296.1 nice to start with a drop, it's just a nice pick-me-up! But, us daily weighers know we had best not set whether a day is good or not by if there's a drop, or we'll drive ourselves crazy!
7/31 - 295.6 had a bit of a tough day and came home to a nice home cooked meal by my husband. It did include cookies at the end so I over-indulged on that meal but I'd left a lot of calories for the evening. Today is another day to keep working on things.

8/2 - 297.5 Had to go searching for how to stop the double spacing but figured it out! Like many the past few days, my huge fluctuation yesterday cannot represent actual gain. Good to see it starting to come down today already. My TOM is just around the bend and I will hold onto extra weight during that time for sure, like clockwork.
8/3 - 296.8 Husband and I had a super fun day yesterday doing an online scavenger hunt around our city. Weather was hot hot hot. We got a ton of steps. Going out on the boat today.

Later this afternoon we travel down to Oxford for the British Transplant Games; DGS (& his brother as they include siblings) will be taking part in some events, DH & myself are volunteering. The games take part over the same weekend every year & it is always a more poignant time for us because it is exactly 5 years today that little Leo received his very precious gift of a new liver that saved his 6 month old life – some of you may remember that extremely anxious time as he very bravely fought. As a family we continually to be ever thankful to the donor & their family & really hope that they take some comfort from the thought that a part of their loved one still lives on 5 years after their loss.

8/3 DNW - 7.47 miles walked, it was a long but satisfying day. Another long one today before we head home.
8/4 144 ☹ that’s all the carbs that I consumed over the weekend. Need to work hard to reduce this before it settles. We were allocated to the ball throw event yesterday that helped me clock up 6.12 miles, some of which were short bursts of running, lots of bending down picking up balls, measuring distances etc. so yes lots of activity, but all meals were carb heavy all weekend.

7/30 203.6 Today went by so fast. I did get my walk after dinner and it was super humid. I convinced my husband to walk with me tonight. I have to start cleaning the house and getting backed to go to the mountains next week. Going to go chase some waterfalls.
7/31 202.5 Today I was gone all day so I didn’t have the chance to go for a walk for work out. Its amazing how you miss it when you don’t go, plus I was so tired all day. I did my hair highlighted and blown out and it was so relaxing. I almost fell asleep on her.
8/1 202.6 I have not felt the best today. I pushed to get that 30 minute walk in tonight. Thankfully is was much cooler. Trying to pack for a trip tomorrow but wishing I had more energy. I went over on tracking tonight by a little and still feel full.
8/2 201.8 Packing for trip and plan a walk in great weather. So thankful for a break in heat for a few days.

8/5 203 Woke to this but I can’t blame the scale. I ate horrible and even though I walked and hiked it was not enough. Today we went hiking and waterfall chasing. Great day! Then saw an outdoor show and it was cool enough for hoodie and a blanket. Love that!!
8/6 203.6 Today I got no exercise. Ok this is so hard on vacation. Not giving up though. I figure I will do better keeping up with it all than I would if I didn’t. Spent family time tonight and got to meet my baby cousin only 5 months. She is only 12 lbs and such a cutie.
8/7 202.8 Had a great evening walk with hubby and saw so many beautiful deer. Visited with family today and took our son to see the capital and go inside and see where the senate and house meets. He found it very interesting, surprisingly. 😊

Yesterday we were scheduled to watch 8yo DGS. It turned into watching 20mo DGD as well. While I love them both dearly, it was like being in a meat grinder. HA! In my retirement I gave grown accustomed to not being “on-point” all day long. DW and I were exhausted at day’s end. Oh, cottage cheese the last two days - guessing that’s “me and dairy” again. Breaking that habit will be very, very tough. Or restaurant food with unknown hidden ingredients/chemicals? Something in restaurant food does NOT agree with me (seed oils? Preservatives?) I eat clean, simple ingredients the vast majority of all meals and then two days restaurant food… ?) Hmmm…

8/3 DNW Almost 🚫sleep last night as predictable since the Hospital project is on my mind again. I had a good day yesterday-but I ate TWO “scratch” cookies at my friends home. (spur of the moment visit w /friend with ALS that took up the entire afternoon- 3hrs in car). I was able to get in 🚶♀️💓10k 👣 WV walk. Focus on hydration &🏋️♀️💓⏱️ today. We enjoyed our flank steak & watermelon salad last night, but ate far too late! I hope everyone has a great Sunday! I’ve decided to not be obsess w/scale⚖️ at this juncture because I know I’m eating ok, but retaining cortisol, stress and not sleeping. I won’t see positive results while I’m in that zone. Will sweat, breathe, smile, stretch & 🙏 today!

I read an interesting article yesterday on the benefits of walking. FWIW: This article sited many studies (well documented) stating that 👣7K steps is the 🎯. I will lower my goal to be 8k to 10k per day & use that time for mobility/balance. 🤸🏼keeping Z2💓 goal (oh yeah, and that darn 🏋️♀️keeps alluding me!). One hour of zone two and 30 minutes of 🏋️♀️🤸🏼⏱️ should be a sweet spot for the next month - till 9/9. Hoping 132.x returns by the end of this round. 💦💦💦 💪🏻

8/7 134.0. Well, this round has been a loser and I don’t mean that in a good sense! I started off with wanting to lose 5 pounds in six weeks and I gained this round and I seriously do not know why… The only thing I can think of is, I’m retaining stuff from eating late and my body is not processing. I am puffy and bloated & I’m thinking it’s dairy. Next round I’m going to put on a 10-day weight-loss mindset and grind it out… May only lose a wee-bit, but it’s the mindset and determination that I need to change. I think I’m just lackadaisically going along as my mind was adrift yesterday. when I wake up, thinking about the hospital project my morning routine blows out the door. I’m thinking about setting an alarm that goes off 30 minutes after I wake up. I walked less than 2k steps… I was tied to the laptop and I would not allow myself to break away. I will flip the switch today! We do have a night out tomorrow night - a celebration … so full speed ahead as much as possible and then start 8/9. Determined to have a positive day today and stay in the present.
8/8 133.0 basically started where I began 10 days ago, but there’s a clear trend upward. Yesterday, got out of my PJs at 2:30… Forced myself in the heat of day (100° +) and completed 🚶♀️10k👣💓 I so so so did not want to do it, but I’m so so glad I did! Good nutrition yesterday but 1400cals. Isn’t it sad that I stayed at 1400 but too much to trend down ⬇️. Hubby & I are celebrating tonight 17yrs since he “popped” the question (+ 7 yrs of testing the waters!) … 2nd marriages work! See y’all in the next round! I need to think about what I can actually accomplish in 10 days… I need a stretch but doable goal. I really don’t like floating around in limbo. I want to check someTHING as accomplished ✅ #HSF

Rnd 303 Ending Weight: 143.37/30: 142.9. It seems like my weight is actually starting to come down, after far too long being stuck around 144-145. I'm very excited about that.
Food was decent yesterday, although I didn't track again. I went for a walk, but took a rest day from running.
I've been toying with the idea of running a half marathon for a while, and I finally made the plunge and signed up for one at the end of October. I would really like to be a lot closer to my goal weight by then, so it's time to really get serious. I have just under 90 days, so plenty of time to lose a few pounds.
7/31: 143.4. Food was on track, I didn't have time for a walk, but did a 4 mile run.
8/1: 140.8. I'm so happy to see a swoosh. I took something to help with the constipation issues I periodically have, which I'm sure is a big contributing factor. Food was good, I went for a walk, but had to skip the gym because my husband worked late.
8/2 141.4. I didn't track food, so I don't know for sure where I landed with my food, but I think it was a good food day. I managed to squeeze in a short walk before it got too hot. And I skipped the gym because I am planning a long run this morning and wanted fresh legs for it.
8/3: 143.4. I did a long run in the morning (12 miles, my longest run ever!). It left me extra hungry for the rest of the day. Since we don't have much food in the house, I ordered food...too much of the wrong things. Today is grocery shopping day, so I'm going to try to stock up on some healthier options.
8/4: 144.3. Well, this isn't good, definitely the wrong direction. It wasn't a great weekend, food wise, but not 4 pounds worth. I'm starting to wonder if extra dairy makes me bloated. No real exercise yesterday.
8/5: 144.8. I don't know what's going on with the weight, especially after being so low last week. Maybe stress?
8/6: 144.6. I'm a bit frustrated, to be honest. I don't know why my weight is this high.
Today's going to be a busy day. My kids have physical and speech therapy this morning for 2 hours and then I have a 3 hour dentist appointment in a town an hour away (where my mom lives, so I can drop my kids off with her when I go to appointment). I'll be out of the house all day. I'm not sure what I'll do about food, but I'll try to make good choices. I've been super stressed about today and I'm looking forward to it being done.
8/7: 142.4. I'm not sure this is the win it seems. I only had one small meal yesterday after finally getting home and getting my kids to bed. My root canal/crown fitting went well yesterday, but wiped me out. Glad it is done though. I was not able to get in much movement at all. I'm hoping to get to the gym today.
8/8; 144.3. I'm sure some of the gain is from TOM. Some may be from having a heavy carb dinner. It still seems a bit excessive though.

My 84 y.o. neighbor lady owns the property and we used to do this together but she is in the hospital and the fundraiser is a week from Saturday. I know exactly how she likes everything planted.8/8-135-Working over at the park is like being at fat camp. I drink water all day and garden…it’s hot but still feels like heaven. Birthday party for friend at the local bar tonight. Appetizers and cake. I think I’ll show up for a bit then go home and work in my own yard while it’s daylight, and 95 degrees 🙄.
