Didn't get much done yesterday. I met met daughter and her boys at the park and got a walk in, but then took a nap when I got home. I should set up my Canvas shells for the coming semester, but I'm not feeling particularly motivated.

Music Bingo was a good time, though I wasn't in a particularly social mood. I think Kelly enjoyed it, so I may have a new partner in crime for Tuesday nights. I have very few girl friends. She and her husband are supposed to come out to our house on Saturday for game night, but I may not be able to swing it this weekend. Just too stressed and to many family obligations.

Tonight is either trivia or Scotch Doubles Pool tournament or cleaning the house. I'm really not feeling that social, but I'm part of a team for trivia, and I just like pool. Should probably stay home, will probably go to trivia.

Texted the cleaning lady, she can start in September. Even with an initial deep clean and a once a month spruce up it will help immensely. I don't even need her to do the bedrooms or master bath, just the common areas.

Looks like Tim's dad may be released from the hospital today. That is a huge relief. Not sure he is well enough to be home alone, but it is a step in the correct direction.

    JFT Wednesday

    • Up with pups ✔️ He was up at 3:00, I made him stay in the kennel until 5:00. He whined, but I was able to get back to sleep.
    • Work by 8:00 ❌ 8:15
    • Discuss staffing/training issues ✔️
    • Email HR at company B, to tell them even though the salary range is lower than I expected, I'm still interested. ✔️ Company B's salary range is only a few $K less than I make now, with a chance for a raise in April.
    • Meetings/Audits all day long…
    • Home by 5:00
    • Feed pups
    • Shower
    • Trivia/Pool (what are the chances I'll clean? slim)
    • Home by 10:30

Hubby got back in time for trivia last night. Totally turned my day/night around. I do much better mentally when my help mate is around. That and I'm taking the work week off from my mother. I have people who check on her daily throughout the week, I typically just take her things (groceries, smokes. etc.) every couple of days. This week, she doesn't get access to me unless there is a problem.

Tim's dad is home and doing well. Still weak, but much better now that he has a pace maker.

It was really nice to go to bed by 10:30 last night. Back on schedule! Makes the 4:00 - 5:00am wake up call from the dogs much more manageable. Went upstairs to get ready this morning, but snuggled into bed for "just a few minutes" and fell asleep. Was about 5 minutes late for my first meeting.

Got an email today from one of the places I applied to with a lower salary than I had asked for. Another higher paying position has opened up there and they think I might be a good fit for.

No real plans this evening that I know of.

So I got a call from one of the places I applied to that was a little below my salary requirements. They had another position open up that is in my requested range that they are considering me for. I will interview next week Wednesday or Friday. This would be a challenging role for me, but what the heck. Might as well go for it.

Nothing on the agenda for today. Slept really well for the first time in ages, but I'm still struggling to stay awake. Tim even got up with the pups this morning to let me catch a little more shut eye.

Only plans for the weekend are cleaning and yard work. Sierra (my oldest) is coming in on Tuesday with the grand pup for a visit. Just one night, but better than no nights.

    JFT Friday

    • Up with pups ➿Tim did it.
    • Work by 8:00 ✔️ & ❌ Got here by 8:00 but realized I needed to be here at 7:00 for a meeting.
    • Figure out a menu for business dinner we are having catered.
    • Lunch in cafe
    • Home by 4:30
    • NAP
    • Hang out with hubby

    Good morning! Happy Friday!

@pridesabtch Good luck at your interview! Glad you got some sleep.

@beachwalker99 Thinking about your sister as she begins recovering from the surgery. I remember it well. She's in my prayers for complete recovery from surgery and the breast cancer.

@cschmitz110515 I was bummed about the kite festival in Algoma being canceled last weekend too! Stupid storms.

@HappyDonkey75 I went through the whole age thing when I switched companies in my late 50's. I had been in IT at a health organization for 30 years and didn't like the changes I was seeing coming down the line. I really loved my job but I was fully invested at that point in our retirement pension (who even offers pensions anymore, right? I was lucky) so I made a change. Unfortunately, two years later Covid hit and I lost my job because i had fewest years of seniority at the new organization. I ended up retiring early and that pension from my previous employer helped me do that. Good luck with your search! Jealous of your upcoming trip! Iceland! trip of a lifetime.

Wednesday was my oncology treatment and they also gave me an infusion of a drug that helps strengthen bones. It's an easy infusion but it has a side effect of bone pain for a few days. I thought maybe I wasn't going to get it this time, but it came on during the night. I didn't realize what was going on while I tossed and turned trying to get comfortable but this morning I realized what the deal was. No big deal…I know it's a temporary thing at least.

Hubby is irritated this morning. He went outside to pick tomatoes and 6 of our nice ripe ones we have been holding off picking were all chewed up by either a bird pecking at them or a mouse or something nibbling. GRRRRR…. He set up a trail cam to try to see what's getting after them. Irritating since we've been watching them ripen, waiting to pick them.

Today will be a laid back day because my legs are aching, but I hope to at least bake banana bread and get some quilting done. I need to run to Walmart and stop over at my mom's to check in also. I haven't been there all week because of my own dr appointments.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Just for Today:

    1. 24H plan & assess
    2. 64 oz water before 7 pm
    3. Close activity rings
    4. Bake banana bread
    5. Walmart for Rx and what-not (today or tomorrow)
    6. Housecleaning & admin tasks
    7. Compression pump for 60 minutes later
    8. Spend some time quilting or reading.
    9. Begin winding down 1 hour prior to bedtime.

    Progress, not perfection.

My sister's surgery went smoothly, and she's home recovering. It'll be another three weeks until the test results come back and she'll find out what the next steps are. Thank you for keeping her in your prayers.

I'm taking a few days off from logging and setting goals while we take the older grandkids on a mini adventures to wind up the summer. Eating out will be a challenge, but I guess it's a good test of how well I can live withing my dietary guidelines.

@pridesabtch - Glad to hear your FIL's surgery went well and that he's on the road to recovery. It's good to hear you're taking some time for yourself as well. Hope the new job prospect pans out.

@PackerFanInGB - Thank you for your support. I hope the leg pain resolves quickly. We have a small kitchen garden, and it's a constant battle to keep the critters at bay. I hope your husband can pin down the tomato destroyer and that you get lots more good ones before the season is over.

Wishing everyone a relaxing and restorative weekend ❤️

@pridesabtch Glad things are getting a little better on track for you.

@beachwalker99 Hurray for your sister's surgery and hopefully speedy recovery.

@PackerFanInGB Sorry about your drug reaction, hope you feel better soon. Glad you tagged some fellow JFTers, I've been missing them and a few more. Hope some come back to post.

Yesterday, and maybe the day before, I didn't post. Computer is giving me problems and by the time I resolve them, I'm sick of technology. Yesterday hubby and I celebrated 21 years of marriage. Nothing really fantastic to mark the occasion, but we tried a new-to-us bakery & sandwich/coffee shop (I had a BOGO coupon from my 10K earlier). It was very good food & specialty coffee with excellent service. We definitely want to go back again, to try their breakfast menu (we missed their window by 10 minutes LOL). Then we picked up pasta salad boxed dinners among other errands. Attended our last concert at the garden & had good weather, which was not typical this summer. The band was soul/funk/R&B and really good, worthy of their state awards last year.

JFT 8/22 F ~ Very warm & muggy, with mostly clouds. With front moving in tonight, we should be having much cooler temps & lower humidity tomorrow and forward. I can't wait!

    • Make moussaka for supper (all items mostly organized in kitchen already, as it's a fairly complicated recipe, at least for me) 😜 well that didn't go as planned… realized after I started prep that my paprika jar had too little so sent hubby to store. That had me stressing a little. Then just before he got home, I was stupid & sliced a small part of my thumb off while slicing potatoes, so cooking was halted in early stages & hubby took me to nearest Urgent Care… where I saw K (I knew her job rotated her there, we walk our doggos together sometimes), then had Lance the nurse, same nurse I had when I tripped doing a high-speed walk exactly 9 months ago & gashed my little finger open (9 stitches that time) so when he asked about my last tetanus shot I could tell him he gave it to me! My bp was crazy high bc I was freaking out but that wasn't even an issue in this circumstance. An hour later, with numbing medicine & cauterization, and considerably calmed down, I left with a big-*kitten* bandage on my right thumb & look like a dork. Dr. and Lance had a good sense of humor, that really helped me. Lance & my hubby joked I'll be back next May (9 months LOL). And when we got home, hubby helped me pack up all the food in progress & I'll try next night with his help. / healthy snacks ~ none / limit sweets ~ none / 64+ oz water / log all food just not in the mood, especially since hubby stopped to pick up 2 frozen pizzas for supper at store across the street from Urgent Care / net calories zero 🙄 no idea, probably not
    • Move pots on patio & yard stuff for hubby to mow / weed landscaping rocks some more ~ no more of that with my injury for a while / review/download updated jewelry ins. policy / call Mom / read / digital declutter / other? 😐️ so-so day

JFT 8/23 Sat. ~ Yay! Cooler temps, much lower humidity & sun shining. I love this!

    • Walk dog to park along with hubby / OT exercises
    • Make moussaka for supper 2.0 / healthy snacks / limit sweets / 64 oz water / log all food / net calories zero

@PackerFanInGB - Yes, I am very much looking forward to my trip..

Nope no more pensions these days. I wish. I just have my various 401K 's but in reality I am still about 15 years from actual retirement.. I am in the same industry as you were.. .. but I am beginning to really hate it. I can tell I am mentally checking out. Trying to figure out my next move , and at this age, its really hard. I honestly think the answer is working for myself somehow. I just don't know how to get there yet. I have always had a little side gig with the horse stuff but I pulled back from that last year. Students today want everything quick and developing a skill such as horsemanship and good correct riding takes years.. No one seems to have the committment so it just became a situation where as the instructor I was working harder than the students in trying to get them to their goals. It wasn't fun and I am not going to spend my spare time teaching students who aren't committed to putting in the work and just want to argue.. so LST, I stopped teaching. Besides, there are so many other so called "trainers" (who are younger and very inexperienced) who have no ethics and will do whatever they can to steal clients.. I just got very sick of the game. I didn't need that added irritation in my life when I already work a 40-50 hr work week

So I have been so busy the last couple of weeks I have not had time to sit down and journal or catch up here.. mom and dad have needed alot of things. I get given a never ending request of tasks to do for them.. If its not fixing their phone or computer , its fixing their log ins to their accounts, printing off papers they need for their files, or ordering things online, or something.. It just never ends. I know that they have no one else to help them and I am happy to help but I have to remind them often that I have my own schedule and things I must get done as well. I can't spend every afternoon after work addressing their needs. And the more I do , the more they seem to need. It doesn't help that they both fight /bicker nonstop so mom often wants to come to my house during the day to get away from dad . The only problem with that is once she is here she is not self sufficient and needs alot of help which I cannot do during the work day. Its exhausting.

Today will be a warm one so I fully intend to enjoy some pool time this afternoon. Have a great sunday everyone.
