@cschmitz110515 Sorry to hear about your slice finger. I've nearly done the same thing. I get distracted and don't pay enough attention when I'm slicing veggies and such. Take care. I hope the moussaka turns out well.

Had a decent weekend. Got a lot of cleaning done around the house. Still need to finish my bedroom, and the family & laundry rooms down stairs. Also have a cleaning crew coming on 9/3 to deep clean the house. Then they will come in every 3 to 4 weeks to maintain. I'm so excited!

Also, Sierra is coming in tomorrow. Can't wait to see her. I miss her a lot, but am very proud of the life she is making for herself.

Yesterday was a good day, but I'm feeling pretty run down. Actually had a hard time staying awake driving this morning. I had missed my meds Sunday & Monday which certainly doesn't help. I'm like in a brain fog and my arms feel like lead weights. Sierra is coming in this evening and I'm excited by that, but I may have to take a half day and nap so that I can function.

Went to Marietta this morning to get a certified copy of Sierra's birth certificate. It's one of the reasons she is coming in. Tim is going to grill ribeye's, baked potatoes, corn on the cob & Green beans for dinner. I think Tim is going to take the 1st half of the day tomorrow off. Unfortunately, I can't stay home tomorrow morning.

Should go to mom's after work. If Sierra wants to go, we'll go. If she doesn't we won't. Same for the in-laws.

Good morning! It's finally cooler here in Green Bay and I am a happy girl! If we could stay between 65 and 74 degrees year-round, I would love it. Skies are blue with pretty puffy white clouds and there's a bit of a breeze, but just generally a really nice day.

I had to get a cardiac calcium scoring CT scan this morning, so I wasn't allowed to have caffeine when I got up…so now I'm playing catch-up with my coffee. I'm like a zombie without it! I barely remember driving to the hospital for the test. lol

Today I need to go to my mom's and watch a quilting show with her. It sounds easy enough, but if you knew my mom you'd know it's crazy stressful. It always turns into a political rant and I'm not allowed to have an opinion….and after the political rant, it turns into a bashing session about my kids and grandkids and everything she doesn't like about them. it's emotionally exhausting. I wish it were different, but she is who she is.

@cschmitz110515 Goodness sakes! How is your finger? OUCH! Did you end up with stitches or just cauterization? Yikes, that had to hurt. I have to Google moussaka…I've heard of it but I've got no clue what it is. It better be awfully good to lose a chunk of your finger over! I'm surprised there are no more bands in the park. Are you talking about the botanical gardens? I haven't been there in years, but I saw some photos the other day and I think I need to get there and see it. So pretty!

@HappyDonkey75 I used to take horseback riding lessons, along with my granddaughter. I loved it. I had a horse for a few years that I boarded up the road at my friend's with her horses. let me just say it was not a great idea for a novice like me to buy a first horse who was named "Lightening". There was a reason he had that name… My second horse was an old boy I rescued named Eddie and he was bomb-proof…a much better fit for me for sure. I miss living in the country.

@pridesabtch Enjoy this time with Sierra!

    Just for Today:

    1. 24H plan & assess 😎
    2. 64 oz water before 7 pm
    3. Close activity rings. Stairs x5. 6,000 steps. 60 minutes exercise.
    4. Marco to Eva and campers. 😎
    5. Big pot of minestrone soup
    6. Medical appointment - scans 😎
    7. Housecleaning & admin tasks 😎
    8. Compression pump for 60 minutes later
    9. Mom's for quilting show
    10. Begin winding down 1 hour prior to bedtime.

    Progress, not perfection.

it’s hot the last few days! Hotter than we’ve been all summer! The pool has been a nice respite in the evenings, but I’m not getting my workouts done either!
Right now, I’m on my walking pad under my desk finishing up my day just to get some steps in!

@PackerFanInGB - oh dear yes a novice rider with a horse named lightning probably wasn’t a great time for anybody!! I’m glad you had been there done that option later on however. We have a small farm so all my horses are right here on the property. Which is nice, but there are lots of days where I wish somebody else would just feed them because every morning and every night it’s about an hour to take care of everybody. I’ve done this for years. It’s just a way of life I guess.. but I find myself longing for more time to do other things. That is part of why I am planning trips when I can.!

Workouts have been micro workouts! Yesterday I did biceps triceps, and I am a little sore today, so I feel better about my effort.

Today is just a cardio day and maybe a few legs and abs. However, I have an appointment at 5:30 so we’ll see how that shakes out.!

as far as the scale and weight loss I still keep bouncing around anywhere between 2 to 4 pounds away from my first goal. I said a year and a half ago of 150 pounds.. It’s very annoying.. I get so close and then my scale goes up for no apparent reason that I can figure.. it’s getting to where it’s almost comical! I know eventually it will happen, but I really want to push on to 140 pounds. 150 seems to be very unpopular with my body.and metabolism!
I think if I just had more time in the mornings, I would be a bit more disciplined about my workout. On weekends, I have no trouble I get up have my coffee eat a little bit and I’m in the gym by 9 which seems to be my sweet spot for working out.

The darn job get in the way of everything!

Last meeting of the day ended a little early so I left a little early. Ended up following Sierra home. It was so nice having her home and hearing about her life and her plans. Tim cooked a great dinner for the family. I probably ate too much, but didn't scarf down everything. Only ate half my steak and half of my baked potato. Of course there was a fair amount of butter on that potato. I was struggling with restless legs and exhaustion last night. I managed to stay present and enjoy family time until around 9:30pm and then had to go to bed. I feel bad I didn't stay up later, but I just couldn't. Yesterday was rough on the exhaustion front.

I'm feeling more awake today so far, but hated leaving for work this morning. I was glad Tim was able to stay home and visit a little longer. When I left he was making breakfast for he and Sierra. He is such a good dad.

Sierra is going to visit the grand parents today and then head home. I've tried to prepare her for the fact that grandma may not know her and that conversations can be difficult to follow. With my MIL, she is more with it, but it might take her a few minutes to figure out who it is and may call her Pam or Tamara (my SIL's) as Sierra looks very much like them. Sierra has such a good heart. Have I mentioned that I'm proud of her?

After work is trivia. For a change, I'm not really looking forward to it. I'm just too tired to be out.

Next week marks the beginning of a new challenge. I did well on the last one, but have gained weight back in between. Sigh… I need to get back to packing a lunch and stocking my office fridge with healthy choices.

Left work early yesterday and took a 2.5 hour nap. If I hadn't I don't think I could have done trivia. I'm really just that tired. We went to trivia and by the time it was over (9:00pm) I was struggling. Doesn't help that we lost badly last night, lol. I shot one game of pool. Did really well and won. Then we headed home. I went directly to bed and fell asleep. Then my restless leg syndrome woke me up. It was awful, it actually extended up to my right arm. That was new. I got up and took some anxiety meds, sometimes it helps. It is a beta blocker. It slows down the heart rate and relaxes blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure. It may or may not help, but I relax and can deal with it better. Hubby said I kicked a lot in my sleep once I finally got to sleep. Needless to say it was not a restful sleep.

Busy day at work, but nothing much planned for this evening unless Tim wants to do something.

Trying to put together a plan to start exercising again.

The plan does not sound fun, but it is something I used to do regularly. Up with pup at 4:30am. Let him out. Go to gym. Get there by 5:30am. Do 15 minutes cardio followed by 40 minutes of lifting (Split workouts 3-4 days a week) then 5 minute cooldown on the bike. Head home ~6:30am. Home by 6:50am. Feed dogs. Shower. Work by 8:00am. Work until 4:30pm. Nap (not way I can not nap). Dinner & bed.

The other alternative is to pack my gym things and go directly after work. If I go home first, I'm done. The only problem with this is that it is usually the time I spend with hubby and friends. Whereas ain't nobody hanging out with me at 5:30am…

No goals today since we've got one more summer adventure planned before everyone goes back to school. My daughter and I are taking the kids to Philly for the Chinese Lantern Festival. The plan is to arrive after lunch and visit a couple of the historic sites before they close, then get dinner in Chinatown before heading over to the festival. I'm hoping all the walking offsets the restaurant meal, but I'll still try to choose wisely. I've got my one month follow-up with the cardiologist tomorrow, so I want to stay hydrated and watch the sodium.

This weekend, my husband and I will help our younger son finish moving out of his apartment into his temporary digs while waiting to close on a house. They had a problem with no-show movers last weekend and had to hire a replacement team at the last minute and lost half the day. They still have a few odds and ends to move, so they asked if they could use my SUV. It'll be nice to see them. My son started his new teaching job this week, so I'm sure he and I will have plenty to talk about. My classes start next week, but I've got some more prep to do before then.

Well, I'd best get going. Hope you all have a great weekend!

    • NAP ❌
    • Dinner ➖Sort of I ate half a plain Whopper
    • Sleep ➖Later than planned. I watched the end of the Nebraska game on ESPN.

Yesterday wasn't bad. My eating was ok. I decided to shoot a little pool in the evening, but my local bar was having a tournament so the tables didn't open up until 8:30pm. I played until 10:15pm and headed home. Them hubby and I watched the end of the Nebraska game. It was way past my bed time and I paid for it this morning. I got up with the dogs as always a little after 5:00am, but went back to sleep around 7:00am. Didn't actually get out of bed until 9:00am. Work around 9:30am. Oh well, I'm still tired, but functional.

Not much on the agenda for tonight unless hubby wants to do something. Probably dinner and an early evening.

Plan for tomorrow is to get a bike ride in. Aiming for 20 miles, but will be happy with 15 as I'm ridiculously out of shape.

    JFT Thursday

I can't even lie, Yesterday was a bad day food wise for me. I overindulged during my lunch and paid for it. Had a bad case of the hungries which might have been due to the day before when I did a pretty hard leg day. I did not manage my hunger signals correctly. Plus I was SO MUSCLE SORE last night I could hardly walk . Sitting down in a chair made me wince.. I get DOMS so badly. I do wonder why some people experience it more than others.. might have to research more on that..

    JFT Friday

    • Going to manage food better, Protein and extra fiber
    • Work will be low key- I am caught up on everything for the most part
    • Pack a few more things for the trip (been doing a little each day) Countdown has begun!!
    • Power wash the two rugs the old dog messed on that have been sitting on the back porch

I have had to pull up most of the throw rugs in the kitchen, hallway and various other areas of the house. The #2 accidents have increased. It doesn't seem to matter how much I take her out, she has developed a very odd fear of being outside , especially alone, and only wants to stay in the house. I have to force her outside and I feel terrible about it . Sometimes she remembers to do her business outside but alot of times she does not and we come back in , 15 minutes later, I have a mess to clean up.

Today is going to be a shorter work day as I have to take my younger of two senior dogs to the vet. He has not been acting quite right the last few days and is now refusing to eat.

Both of our dogs are now seniors , one is 15 , the GSD I have mentioned before who continues to surprise us and keep us guessing nearly daily if its time to make the call or not, but this one is 13. It never really registers that he is also a senior dog because hes normally so spunky.

So off to the vet we go this afternoon. Going into a long weekend I didn't want to take a chance. I know his back is very sore so this could all be related to pain (he's also not walking right and is low low energy) but it could also be liver enzymes again. He is on medication for his arthritis and pain but it tends to cause liver issues. I hate how expensive vet care has become. Wish us luck that its nothing serious .

Earlier this week I was just at the vet for my horse for his scheduled procedure to inject his neck ($$$$$$) . Today I hope to ride and see how he is feeling, if it helps improve things for him.

I am going to need a second job with the way these animals are needing vet care. If they weren't so old I think I would consider investing in pet insurance.

Have a great long weekend everyone.

Our fur babies are not cheap especially as they age. I have an 18 yo cat who is really starting to look ragged. She seems okay, but has pretty much quit grooming herself. Makes me wonder if there is something going on. Going to the vet is very stressful for her, so I don't take her unless its absolutely necessary. She claws and bites so they muzzle her and it's an awful experience for everyone. My 15yo Boxer walks in slow motion even with his pricey arthritis meds. Then there is the puppy. He's very healthy, but expensive in different ways. Like he ate my Oakley's and we are on like our 4th Firestick remote, lol. I can't imaging paying for horse care. Best of luck to you!

@pridesabtch - Thanks. I don't blame you for not taking your elderly cat into the vet with how stressed he gets. It is so hard with these furbabies. I did not get a good diagnosis yesterday for my pup. All of his lymphnodes are swollen, but his bloodwork didn't reflect an increased lymphocyte level , which if it were it would lean towards Lymphoma. At this point he is being treated for Pancreatitis. He is on anti nausea meds and antibiotics. If by Tuesday his lymphnodes are not going down , that is not a good sign and he will have to have a biopsy. I don't have a good feeling as sick as he is. The back pain is secondary at this point but definitely something we need to address further once we get through this.. if we get through this. so my JFT- I will be spending the weekend watching and caring for him pretty closely and praying he recovers. He's my little buddy .
