My favorite online store to buy pants/skirts had a 50% off sitewide sale last week. So, I bought their smallest size, 12 (pretty sure its a 12W, though), thinking I would fit into them after the first of the year. I tried them on this weekend, and they fit perfectly! A year ago I was fitting into their 24/26W pants.
Sad thing is I might not fit any of their pants/skirts when I'm at my goal weight. They are so soft and easy to wear. Might need to look somewhere else to get bottoms!

So happy that I hung onto 2 pairs of La Senza size large flannel pajamas because now they fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously haven't worn them in about 15 years but now they fit!!! They are so comfy and cozy and it feels great to being moving away from X sizes. My weight loss has slowed to about 2 pounds a month, but I'm so happy about this, I'm embracing the slow.

@anxietyfairy Congratulations! This is a perfect example of deciding to keep going! You are not going to change your nutrition and movement habits quickly. You will slowly become accustomed to eating healthier and moving more. Just as you could only eat half the meat and swapped out the chips…your taste buds are slowly craving fresh crunchy veggies over salty fatty grease! As a baby....you were slowly introduced to solids....when you were ready. Give yourself the same grace you did back then. (You're not still eating only apple sauce right? Lol). Same with exercise. When you feel low energy, have a back up plan for low energy exercise. It might be a walk around the block, yoga on you tube or climbing up and down a flight of stairs 5 times. Moving your body daily keeps the blood moving, builds muscle and lifts your mood. Little things over time add up to BIG results. Don't concern yourself with the time it takes but do stay consistent. 😊

My NSV is the way I feel about myself now! For so many years when I was bumping 350 I was always disgusted with myself every time I seen myself in a mirror probably why I don’t like mirrors lol and also when I would do an activity and would have to stop every 5 min to catch my breath! And I let it bother me and add to my disappointment in myself when I seen some of the looks people gave me! But today I’m down to 197 and I’m finally start to feel good about myself and be proud of how I look no I don’t look perfect and chiseled and jacked but I’m normal and still working on it but I’m proud of how far I’ve come to make my health and mental health my primary goals along with getting in shape to be able to do activities again so another NSV is last night I played 3 hours of volleyball without stopping!!!

We're heading into summer in Australia and I've just put on the pants I wore a lot last year (despite them being a bit too tight) and they are almost unwearable this year, they are so loose. Yay for loose pants!

I ordered a walking pad for my wfh days and today I did 20,000 steps! That’s the most I’ve ever walked! I’m committed to completing 10,000 a day to help kick start my life reset

Got a journal to track my emotions so I don't eat because of them. So far so good.

wow. This is a great idea! To specifically do emotions, I mean.
I did a habit breaking mindfulness thing at my yoga studio. We were each issued journals.
No kidding. Within a week, I’d broken a 50+ year nail biting habit and shortly after was also able to kick a weird, lifelong, automatic habit inherited from my dad.
I was floored that it was that easy.
Journalling really worked for me. It made me pay attention and question why and when I did these things.
The other day I had to trim my fingernails because I haven’t had a chance to get to the nail salon. I was trimming and thinking,”wow! Weight loss and long nails! This really is a new me!!!!”
I sincerely hope journalling works as well for you as it did for me.9 -
I'm glad to see journaling worked so well for you. I appreciate you sharing your experience with it. Hopefully it's something I can stick with.

It has been a long time since I posted, but I am still regularly checking in to get my hit of happy reading all your inspiring NSVs! Apologies in advance- this is a long one. Scroll to the bottom for the TL/DR.
My health journey has been very up and down throughout my life. I have on several occasions gained and lost 25+ lbs. The most recent was a ~33 lb weight loss in 2022 followed by slowly gaining back about half since I moved last year. This meant a large uptick in pain and a hit to my physical activity because of a lower back issue.
Trust me, the healthy habits are aaaaall there, but eating at maintenance has meant dealing with constant hunger. My empty, growling stomach would wake me up in the middle of the night and gnaw at me every moment of the day. I couldn’t concentrate on work. If I didn’t have food when I needed it, I would get uncontrollably hangry. I could eat a giant meal to the point of bursting and still not feel satisfied. I have done everything right- high protein, high fiber, consistent weight training and movement, whole plant-based foods, tons of water, all of it. All it would take is one small bump to my routine, and my body and brain would SCREAM at me constantly to EAT.
My NSV is that I have finally accepted that my physiology will not allow me to maintain a healthy weight without help. After careful consideration of my options, I started tirzepatide last month. I can already tell that this is a life-changing medication for me. No more waking up hungry. No more constant “food noise”. I feel truly satisfied after eating for the first time in many, many years.
I am tracking my calorie and protein intake in detail still, but now it’s to make sure I’m getting enough. For the first time ever, this feels easy. I am not fighting with my own brain and body anymore. I have plenty of energy, and I am KILLING IT at the gym. I feel like I somehow have more time and more brainpower than I did before. There were some mild negative side effects at first (nausea, reflux, pronounced food aversion), but they subsided pretty quickly.
I am a dietitian who worked in dialysis for 13 years. I have seen the worst case scenarios that happen when people deal with obesity and metabolic dysfunction. It has been a very long time since I have felt true optimism when it comes to this huge nutrition problem the human race has been facing. I don’t think any of us were expecting a solution to come in the form of a medication, but here it is, and it’s changing the world. It has certainly changed my world. I sincerely can’t wait for these meds to be accessible to everyone who needs them.
I have great envy of those who can lose weight and maintain it with relative ease by relying on healthy habits they’ve developed. Based on the evidence, I am clearly not alone in my inability to do that. Some of us simply need more than a change in habits alone can give us.
TL/DR: After years of doing the weight yo-yo, I started on the GLP-1 agonist tirzepatide, and so far it has been a life-changing success.

Walked a 5k for breast cancer fundraising this morning. Just walking, not running. 15:41 mile pace overall, and the first 6-7 minutes were not that fast, because there was so much congestion on the course.
That's my NSV.

I am OFF INSULIN!!! I only take oral meds now to keep my blood sugar under control. Not having to shoot up insulin 5 times a day is SO liberating!

Congratulations! I envy anyone who can use the drugs. Being a diabetic, I was prescribed a couple of those. I tried to ignore the side effects but after 9 weeks I waved the white flag of surrender. So I had to lose the old fashioned way. Continued success to you!

Did my first run workout of the season 🙌💪🏃♀️

my most recent NSV is looking at a photo from when I started and comparing it to now. I still have a long way left to go but I am so proud of the progress I have made so far. I’m about 60lbs down since April when I started and sometimes it doesn’t seem like much but looking at a photo comparison I personally see such a big change. I am proud I have done this all by myself- no glp1, no trainer, all hard work, eating right, and staying consistent 💪

The difference is quite obvious and looks amazing! Good for you for putting that work in.

@knxjg6yvyr Oh wow! You look amazing 👏. Congratulations on your hard work...it has really payed off. As someone who is a strong believer in allowing the mind to catch up to its new body, you may want to consider taking a month to focus on maintenance. Continue your healthy lifestyle but don't put pressure on yourself to actually lose any weight. I hope that makes sense. Enjoy the journey, including the rest stops. Continue eating right...drinking water. Focus on taking a daily walk so it becomes ingrained behavior. Have you considered a fantabulous reward?? This is the time to plan a day spa massage! Even better, an overnight stay at a nice hotel with a spa! Go for a massage and get your nails done. Drink freshly squeezed juice. The boost will do wonders for your self esteem and mentally prepare you for round two. Self love ❤️ is SO important.
You're already a different person inside and out. Or you may consider a bouncy blowout and pro makeup for your next special occasion. Make sure your mind is also keeping up with your outer change....you'll be refreshed and excited to continue your journey 😊.

Neighbor asked me what injection I was getting. Then got mad at me and huffed and puffed when I told her I was just tracking calories and exercising.
7 -
Yeah. One of my neighbors - before the current weight loss drugs were a common thing - asked me when/what surgery I'd had, and had a similar shocked reaction. (She'd had the surgery. I hadn't.)
No criticism intended of people who use the drugs or had the surgery - just saying people who did or would use some particular approach think others do so, too.
1 -
Yep, I have nothing against people doing whatever it is that they are doing but it is always wild to me when people I know who have had procedures, injections whatever are telling me I am doing something wrong and they try to give me dieting advice even though at one point in my life I lost 200 lbs doing exactly this, tracking and working out.
5 -
Wow....
I do envy those who can use those drugs....I have a friend who does and is losing weight. But we can't all use them. Maybe one day, there will be an improved version with fewer side effects.
I know one person who uses them and eats exactly as they did before....I haven't seen any change in her weight....even after 2 knee replacements. I know another person who had bariatric surgery years ago....she lost weight, and gained it all back. She has other health problems now.
No artificial weight loss program is foolproof. Even if you lose, you have to change your lifestyle. And many seem unwilling to do so.

@Bassarrownerd I literally laughed out loud at your first post. 🤣 Huffed and puffed! @Chrochetiuvr Oh wow! It's sad to hear people going thru such extremes just to gain it all back. It's definitely a lifestyle change and requires a strong "why". They need to get themselves sorted before they attempt to get started. I've been enjoying the long journey....knowing I'm never going back. Rarely I even miss my too big clothes! 😕

It’s cooled off here, so I’ve swapped warm weather clothes out for cool weather wardrobe.
My closet is absolutely stuffed. I didn’t realize I’d gotten so many things. 🤦🏻♀️ I love and appreciate beautiful textiles, especially hand woven or embroidered, and I buy them when I travel.
My NSV is I’ve developed a very unique fashion sense of pieces I absolutely love. No, I had one, it just sputtered out during the fat and obese era, and it’s finally found its way back!
I can’t wait to wear some of this stuff.
That’s all my NSV.
My worry is, catastrophically falling out of maintenance and it all becoming unwearable. So, I keep banging away at those calories.
