Thanks! @yakkystuff. It went well and I am now back to regular food. The doctor did have to remove 4 polyps including one huge one that was 30mm wide! They are being sent to the lab for testing.

last night was chili fries, using the new air fryer.

Fries were a mixed bag- raw to burnt.

The chili, while delicious on its own earlier in the weeks, was bland and tasteless on the fries. Waste of calories for the bacon. Couldn’t even taste it.

Received a brief lecture from the husband for being cheap and buying cheap, tasteless ingredients. Reminded him he loved the chili earlier said it was the best batch ever. And he enjoys the bacon when I share it for breakfast.

Last time I made chili fires we had the same issue. Just a tasteless mound of food. I can’t figure out why. Fries, chili, cheese, sour cream, chives and bacon. Looks awesome on paper, right?!

Tonight is parmesan chicken with baked potatoes.

@springlering62 perhaps try oven baking the fries next time, with the chili reheated separately in a pot stove-top. My guess is the air-fryer is dehydrating the chili, hence the taste degradation.

I did reheat it separately and spooned it over the fries. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The fries were plain potatoes tossed in a spritz of olive oil.

the bacon was awesome on its own I know. I scarfed half a slice and it’s the same stuff I enjoy for breakfast all the time. It was perfect!

The individual goodness of the parts just didn’t add up to a big treat, as planned

I do agree, maybe the low fat sour cream isn’t worth the few calories saved, but the cheese is same as Kroger or Publix brand. The only decent cheese these days is Tillamook, and it’s three times the cost. 😢

cue lecture : but we can afford it and it tastes so much better!

But I don’t want to pay that much!!!!! First world problems, eh?

For chili fries, my personal opinion is that the chili needs to be reasonably over-seasoned, because the potatos are so neutral. If it tastes right to eat from a bowl, it's not seasoned enough to taste good on fries. Just my opinion, though.

    Yes to the Tillamook

A spice trick is to hit with a dash a min or so before cook ends - especially peppers... more so top of eggs, meats. Probably gets lost in soups/stews and casseroles - those can be hit when serving the portion.

Steak Fatoush salad tonight. Recipe called for red grapes briefly pan fried in the same butter as the steak and red onion.

I never would have thought of this, but the grapes were delicious. Absolutely out of this world.

Husband loved it. Will def be making it again. Less parsley, more red onion, and more fried pita strips.
