@WestCoastGirl_1 @globalhiker @SparkSpringtime69 @chicbuc @Fursian @2timesacharmmfp @NonnieDoiron @Michieb125 @GGinCA ~Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes!!
@Walela617 ~ I love your 9 things…. Congrats on the Week!!
@Fursian ~ You got it right, birthday AND Lola!!!
@NonnieDoiron {{{hugs}}} you are still doing very well in spite of all going on! A massage sounds nice….. Oh, what a terrible day for a biopsy…and yes…6 weeks, seriously. But, you're right. I don't think they care….my sister was diagnosed in June/July and she FINALLY has a surgery date. The only saving grace is her mental state…as all does NOT resonate with her. Me on the other hand…. 18 pounds total! Awesome!!!
@WestCoastGirl_1 ~ You are rocking this! Way to go GIRL!!!!
@GGinCA ~ Glad you're here. I really do want to focus on me and fun for this next trip around the sun. Seems it's always been something else…now it's time for ME!
Went out to breakfast and dinner for my birthday. Had a green salad along with my omelet for breakfast and a Mimosa. The salad was really good, and I'm not big on salads, usually. Went window shopping…sort of.. bought Lola some new treats. Vegged in the afternoon and then went out to dinner. Had crab cakes for an appetizer and creole style catfish for my meal and a couple glasses of wine. Came home and watched the balance of the football game. Got lots of messages on FB, MFP, text, and calls, so overall it was a good day.
Had a good day today but I know I'm going out again Saturday night, most likely will be drinks. So just a little all over the place, but will reign it in over the weekend.

I am just starting w the microdose every other day bought capsules from fun guyz here in Toronto to try. Ridiculous brand name penis envy lol. Bought a bag of them separate too for next time I want to get a bit of a buzz on a night out (I hate weed though I do have 50/50 the cbd tablets for when I am stressed and having sleep issues . First go round with quitting drinking I was in a much worse place now it is not being cognizant and trying to stop myself before I have gone too far. The microdose I do every other day right now and I do notice the change mentally

@WestCoastGirl_1 No thanks is right - I was just noting that I had the same behavior in the past. My SO and I also don't do much for thanksgiving anymore, and even if we did, the whole drinking while making dinner is something I've been slowly but steadily moving out of.
@NonnieDoiron I get the frustration - Christmas Eve is a bit far away, and it's CHRISTMAS EVE !
But on a happy note, 2.4 lbs down is wonderful. Congratulations on the loss!!!1 -
Hi everyone,
Happy Weekend! Today I complete my Day 008! I really impressed myself because I got a haircut after work and walked right by some new places (bar/restaurants) that I'd never tried before; then I passed by all of my favorite "neighborhood haunts" and didn't stop in ANY of them! Here's my Sober Time app "1 Week Milestone", duly earned:
Enjoy your weekend!

@SparkSpringtime69 I used to like having drinks while I was making holiday meals (and other recipes where there was quite a bit involved). But, fortunately, we never had company for the holiday meals. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been in the best of shape when the guests arrived. I'm doing good without drinking. I no longer feel the need to drink for every little event, project, or when I'm working around the house. Let's hope the feeling lasts.
@NonnieDoiron Yes, Christmas Eve is a bit far away and as @SparkSpringtime69 commented, it is Christmas Eve. Did they offer to put you on a cancellation list? Sometimes, people cancel and you can get moved up. Congrats on your streak and your weight loss! Not drinking really does help when it comes to weight loss. I'm only on day 10, but I've already been losing weight. Some of the weight loss occurred before I had my first AF day. But I was cutting way back before that.
Thanks @itladyee! I hope you had a nice Birthday!
@Walela617 WTG Carole!

For what it's worth, PE is a popular strain, not a brand. Checked out Fun Guyz website, pretty cool shop from the look of it. If you find the convenience worth the price, it looks like a solid option, but if you don't mind taking on a little effort and have the space for it, you can grow your own for a fraction of what they're charging. If you're interested, let me know and I'd be happy to give you a crash course - it's easier than I thought it would be, and I got two 16qt tubs up and running for about what Fun Guyz is charging for 4g; my first harvest yielded 25g and my second harvest from the same tubs is in the dehydrator as we speak. I'll be microdosing for a year with plenty to spare and the mycelium is still producing.

@Walela617 way to go! and I am right there with you - just completed week 1 AF
@NonnieDoiron likely somebody will cancel and that appt. can be moved up. There must be a few daily cancellations going on. The people at the doctor's office want a light patient load on Christmas Eve. so they can take off early. (I was a scheduler at an oncology practice many moons ago).
@WestCoastGirl_1 you are motivating me - and I am really thrilled you are doing so well. I have had terrible sleep - nightmares, waking up a lot, insomnia and achy joints that is just because I had drinks here and there in Sept. and Oct and it was nothing crazy nor daily at all. The stuffiness though is totally gone. I think my system is still detoxing maybe?
@Michieb125 it's great you've found the skill to really moderate. It seems to only work for me when I have a long stretch of AF days before and after.
Today shall be day 8 AF for me. No excuses. Let's keep going!!!

@globalhiker Good job on 7 days AF so far. You've definitely got this! When I was first trying to get my first day AF, I had terrible sleep - nightmares, insomnia, racing heart, sweating, etc. I believe that is our bodies detoxing. From your posts, I'm not sure if you plan on drinking on Thanksgiving or not. I won't be!
I've always drank on holidays, but I'm not sure why. My husband and I met 20 years ago and we moved to a new valley (to the north of where we met). Neither of us have family or close friends where we live. So it doesn't make sense to drink on the holidays - we don't have guests and we're not socializing. My husband will have a beer or two from time to time, but he's really not a drinker. So I've just been drinking by myself all these years. That's just what I did…basically drink every day! Now it seems like kind of a waste.
I've lost 12 lbs since the first of October. I enter my weight regularly - more so when I'm drinking less or none. I looked at "Reports" on MFP and I'm at the lowest weight I've been in the past year (by far). Although, the last three days, I have weighed the same. Hopefully, I'll start losing again.
I'm feeling so much better you wouldn't believe it. My balance and coordination are back. I can walk normal again. For a while, I had to think about each step that I took. But my nasal congestion hasn't gone away. It probably won't.
Have a good day and Let's keep going!!!

Accountability post: I had 9 oz. of planned red wine over 3 hours - watched the new Frankenstein movie with DH on Netflix. Fascinating but definitely a modernized version of the classic. Back to the J. Lohr — bringing my measured glasses to a total of 7 for the week. I’m calling the next two days AF and going to get outside for my walks!

Hi all. Happy Saturday and to anyone looking to make this an AF weekend I’m right there with you! Got past the Friday challenge and have plans tonight that actually will make it fairly easier for me to not drink (there is a movie planned for what would be “first drink” hour and a reservation at a restaurant that I know has pretty good mocktails.) So I’m committing to being AF all the way until Monday am (I always bite my nails when I say that though!)
If I can do it so can you!
Nov stats…AF - 7 (streak 13, goal 25)

@NonnieDoiron congrats on the 2.4 lbs recent weight loss. That is always very motivating!

@GGinCA I'm in for an AF weekend, actually through Monday and hopefully beyond.
So many here are really inspiring me to do better for myself and start making healthy decisions when it comes to my behavior and attitudes. Time to get HEALTHY!

@GGinCA You can do this and @SparkSpringtime69 is going to join you along with me.
@SparkSpringtime69 I'm glad you're feeling motivated. If I can do this…anyone can! I'm looking forward to seeing a checkmark on the spreadsheet! 😀

@WestCoastGirl_1 and @globalhiker because the husband is… well… let’s just say “special”… I don’t think he asked to be put on a cancellation call list. He avoided talking to me yesterday and is at a competition today. (Side note: The boy child won best lifter!) I haven’t had a chance to ask yet if he did or if they mentioned it at all. But, I’ll probably be calling the office to ask WTF on Monday with him sitting next to me, so they can’t argue HIPAA with me.

AF-8As a few have mentioned it gets easier and easier with time, to avoid alcohol. I didn’t throw out the rest of the wine I cooked with the other night, and it’s still sitting there untouched.
For me, it’s easier to give up the wine than to stop overeating. The struggle is real. I ate all my calories today and was stuffed, but a few hours later I was looking for something to eat. I ended up distracting myself. First, I moved the food that needs to thaw for tomorrow’s dinner to the fridge. Then, I sat down to cross stitch. But, I still wanted to eat something. Maybe I need to get some candy to suck on, lollipops or something. I’ve been sneaking mini tootsie pops from the girl child’s trick or treat haul. They seem to help a little. 🤔

You are killing it!! So happy for you!
I caved Friday night and had some red wine, but got right back on yesterday and vegged out with my flavored seltzers last night.
Today is a test. Going to the football game.
Happy Sunday, everyone!

@chicbuc I'm glad you got another AF day. I've never been to a professional football game. I've, also, never been to Florida. But you must be going to the Miami game. I'll be watching the Seattle Seahawks on TV this afternoon.
Enjoy the game!

Skipped the wine last night as planned - had flavored hot teas and flavored sparkling water instead. Today I’m trying a new NA Hibiscus Berry sparking beverage by Mingle in my flute glass and will report back.
I’m also going to research homemade holiday mocktails for what I’d like to serve for Thanksgiving - I’m having my daughter bring her soda machine and will make homemade syrups so we can plan for some yummy options. I’m thinking about venturing out from typical lime additives to maybe exotic lavender or something with an autumnal spin.
We did this last year and it was a big hit especially with the 40 something’s who either already quit or rarely drink.
May you find your best resolve if just for today!4 -

Well, let me type that again….urgh MFP….It was probably just me and my anger….
I'm pissed off right now. I got a message last night from my DIL's mother inviting me and my DH, and my son and his family to her house for Thanksgiving. Simple, right…no. I have hosted Thanksgiving for the past 8 years (they have been married for 10). Prior to that, we went to my sister's house, who has now passed on. I have never spent Thanksgiving without my son….. AND my DIL promptly accepted the invite!!
Thanksgiving is the one holiday I treasured being able to spend time with my grands without her being around. She is always at their house, so the kids are more attached to her, so with both of us present, I don't stand a chance to bond.
The DIL is forever inviting her (granted, it's her mother, so I get it) to lunch, dinner, to the zoo, to museums, to this , to that…..I of course find out about it from FB Post. Never once has she invited me to do something with them. I try to respect their lives and only invite myself a couple of times a month…. I used to ignore her (the mother) but now that I think about it, she often puts in little digs to let me know she's with the kids. Example: My birthday. My DIL and the kids facetimed me to say Happy Birthday and Julian immediately started the conversation with I Love you G-Ma. Saturday we got together for Julian's Karate tournament (which he took 2nd by the way) and she had to chime in how cute it was for Julian to say that he loved me when he called for my birthday. The only way she'd know was if she were there……AHHHH!
The least she could have done was reach out to me first and asked if I minded if she hosted Thanksgiving this year rather than just hijacking the day. I'm a Scorpio, it's Scorpio season, and she just crossed me…..
I don't want to create disharmony, but I may have to have a conversation with her, so she understands what she did and to clear my mind. But I have to wait until I'm a bit more calm.
The good news… I didn't pour a glass of wine to drown my feelings….
@Walela617 ~ Nice progress, Carole. You are doing well.
@globalhiker ~ Glad to see you back on track.
@WestCoastGirl_1 ~ Don't question, just keep going. You're doing an amazing job!
@NonnieDoiron ~ Tootsie Pops are my go-to for distraction, plus they make wine taste awful!! But I don't like the "tootsie" part of it! 😂
@chicbuc ~ Hope you enjoyed the football game. How did you do…

I'm not checking in very often these days, and I see some new user names, it's nice to have you on the journey.
@NonnieDoiron, I'm so sorry to hear of your husband's cancer recurrence. You both have my prayers. (I wish it were possible for your MIL to move to assisted living. It would definitely help your stress level.) You're doing a great job resisting the wine under these conditions; stay strong, it would only feel better for 30 minutes and then it would feel worse.
@WestCoastGirl_1, Congratulations on your alcohol free days. Every day is a step closer to long-term freedom. Stay strong. Hugs.
@itladyee, as usual I'm late in adding my wishes to the others for your 65th birthday! It's a bit different from 16 or 21, but you're so much smarter and wiser. Thanks for all you do for us and for all the people in your "real" life. You make the world a better place, and that's an incredible legacy and contribution. sending you hugs and prayers.

All this talk about Tootsie Roll pops and I had to have one. My husband has a stash in the office. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves ~ LOL ~
Congrats @itladyee for not reaching for the wine!
@nbruns83 I've been wondering where you've been. Nice to hear from you!

@itladyee I am glad you are blowing off the steam here and totally understand about the switcher-roo for Thanksgiving dinner. That would sting.
And, I can validate all of your feelings of how you’d like the grandkids for this traditional special holiday at your home. I get it!
Definitely sleep on it (or try) before responding. Is the other mother actually spiteful knowing you’ve hosted for 8 years? IDK but I wonder if your son and DIL might have approached you before accepting. I know my DIL does this as a mere courtesy to me. Or asks if we’re doing the same thing or changing it up. You deserve a voice in it.
Keep us posted!4 -
Sorry to have brought up the tootsie pops, @WestCoastGirl_1. Lol, I was eating the minis, but apparently the husband has thrown them all away. He has a thing about the dyes in food now… it’s all poison!🙄
@itladyee I agree with @Michieb125, definitely sleep on it. Then, I think I would actually discuss with your son and DIL. Have an open conversation about your feelings about Thanksgiving tradition and not your opinion not being considered.
@nbruns83 thank you. I would LOVE to put MIL in a home. And, I think the husband is keen to the idea, but his brother who talks a big game isn’t helping. We can’t afford to do it on our own and she just doesn’t have a lot of income between her pension and social security. After she pays for medical bills and satisfies her shopping/hoarding addiction, she doesn’t have anything left over. His brother is coming up for thanksgiving, so I may b!tch at him about it see if anything comes of it.
Celebrated the oldest male child’s birthday with his family today. It was delicious, but the sliver I ate of the turtle cheesecake I made just isn’t sitting well. Dairy and I don’t always get along. 😕
Looking very forward to the cold temps starting tomorrow.
