Tracey- Hugs!
Love all of the encouragement and information from this tribe. This past week has just been HARD. No, not hard like others, but HARD. Got jaw unlocked by chiropractor on Monday. Still tender until Thursday. Then got a migraine. I should have stayed home on Friday. Spent last 2 hours curled up in office with cold rag on neck to keep from throwing up. In bed and asleep by 615. Woke up twice to pee. After slug yesterday. No walking. Everything I have eaten since Thursday has been followed with Tums. I am currently house walking. I have stuffs to do! It is grey, cold, and rainy outside. I have to go to grocery this morning. I need to vacuum and use carpet shampooer. Dust and pick up living room, dining room, and kitchen. Pull in and put away outside things. 2" of snow forecast for tonight on elevated surfaces and grass. Let's see.…alcohol, caffeine, and chocolate all cause indigestion. Okay and fried foods. No wonder my tummy not happy since Thursday.…I need to calm down stomach acid naturally. First step, grocery…
November 1- Thankful for all working vacuum to take care of flies.
November 2-Thankful for good people to care for stray animals.
November 3- Thankful for Chiropractor even though he hurts to make it better.
November 4-Thankful for the privilege to vote.
November 5-Thankful for a day that feels good to me.
November 6- Thankful for jaw finally healing.
November 7- Thankful for meds and a warm dry bed.
November 8-Thankful for the financial ability to book 2 get aways. One with another couple in December. The other our TN getaway.
November 9- Thankful to have a house to clean.
Always thankful for all I learn from each of you!

😱Annie has ruined two TV remotes requiring that I buy new ones from Amazon for about fifteen dollars. I was glad to not have to do that again. Yesterday she grabbed a box of tissues off the table and ripped up the cardboard box. I saved most of the tissues and put them in a plastic bag and put them in a safer place. Right now she is asleep on her red blanket near me.
❄️
Snow, no snow forecast here yet which pleases me because I still have some yard work that I want to do. I won't mind it when it comes after the work is done. I've started ordering extras of staple groceries in case there is a week when I can't get out. When I scheduled the dog groomer for December she reminded me that snow and ice would require her to cancel since she drives a van and lives up a hill out in the country.😀
Pressure Washer, I finally took the plunge and decided to learn how to use the pressure washer. I watched two You Tube videos and read the direction book before starting. I was successful in getting it to work but found it awkward—like a six year old using scissors for the first time. I won't try to use it to power wash the house of the driveway, but I have a lot of plastic milk crates and other storage baskets that should be easier to wash with the power washer. Stay tuned for more news.😀I bought a house when I was 34 years old and had my own washer and dryer for the first time. I expressed my gratitude for the washer and dryer by doing my grandmother's laundry (she was in a nursing home and my mother worried that they wouldn't wash her clothes correctly or would lose some of them). More than forty years later, I am still grateful every time Is start the washer in my own laundry room. Today Annie let me carry the items from the bathroom to the laundry room without grabbing any of them and carrying them away. I am grateful for that, as well.

Swimming this morning then groceries. Will make the crew brunch first- eggs benedict. I use a packaged sauce mix that you add butter and water to. It's pretty good. Having them for supper as well. My husband's ask was for chicken fried steak.
Busy week ahead although Tuesday is a holiday for Remembrance Day. I'll be busy catching up this week as I was off all of last.
I have been struggling with what I am eating. There are lots of goodies around and I am giving into them. I even find my mental state is affected. Have been feeling sad and anxious. I did a Yoga Nidra meditation this morning as soon as I woke up which did help calm me.Lanette- I love tuna casserole, but the rest I feed do not ☹️
Lisa- Deviled egg 🤣🤣🤣
Take care of yourselves 💕

We had Edie over this afternoon. She worked on her robin canvas and then made a start on her bottle light. Looking good so far. I painted one of my photos from the cruise.
So, we had a wonderful time together. 😃😍

THAT'S HILARIOUS Melanie! An Olympic Sport? Well, I'll mention that to Freddy next time, cuz I get the Gold medal in our house then. He's got a bad back and my knees, ankles and back are shot. We're both a mess, but I get'r'done better and faster than he does. WOOHOO, WOMEN!
It's scary, Lanette that there are real situations like your book! We have SO much fraud being discovered and uncovered here in MN right now. It makes me sick. Thankfully, so far no one's been physically hurt, but DAY-UM, the money that's gone out the door. Grrrrrrrrr..... And this is what I do daily, for the school district. Now they're trying to dump us under the Medicaid/Medicare "fraud" umbrella and they're putting so many new "restrictions" on us that we're losing money that should rightfully come to us because we actually are providing services. Sorry... didn't mean to take you down that rabbit hole.
We use our crockpot ALL the time, but we use the nifty liners. Wouldn't do without them and cleanup is a breeze! In fact, I think the only time Freddy doesn't use them is when he makes baked potatoes, which he did the other day. YUMMY. So tender after cooking all day. The house smelled delish when I came home from work.
Awwwwwwww, Tracey. We're so glad to be "your ladies". I'm glad that SHE has decided not to call them. Maybe someday they'll realize what they've done to themselves and to her and reach out, but dang, if they start yelling again, you need to take the phone and not let it continue. Document too!
You're a saint, my friend! You truly are.
Rodger will figure out that he really had no control over what was happening out there, but I'm glad that he sees the toll it's had on you. Maybe it's the start of a greater appreciation for you than he's ever had before. That could be a very good thing for your entire family.
That dresser and nightstand are gorgeous. I just love antiques.Well... got maybe "half" my card-making crap (really the ONLY word for it) out of the kitchen and into the new office/craft room. You will NOT be seeing pictures until it's done. OMG! What a MESS! I don't even want to take pictures, but I'm thinking now that I kind of should be taking pictures just to remind myself of what I'm accomplishing. Holy smack! Okay so, I knew that I had a lot of DSP. (okay, designer series paper) That's the 12x12 gorgeous stuff that you are really SAD about when you do finally cut into. But I forgot that I had A LOT of DSP!!! Like to the tune of five 11x12" totes, filled, front to back. THIS is the one that is still in the kitchen with the most current product. WHAT a chore, but it's getting done and I'm thrilled.
Love and Blessings

I am pleased to be rid of the 1.4 lbs from my glorious ramen pilgrimage! I am back down to 203.4. Today was strong espresso coffee, with 1/2 bagel, cheese, sausage patty and a nice over easy egg on top. I had that yesterday. Then an iced coffee protein shake with my leftover coffee, and a veggie salad with 2 oz of rotisserie chicken in it for dinner. I shall end my eating with my peach/mint tea I love. It really does keep my throat happy, sleep with less phlegm issues. (Tmi)
Last night I spent an hour video chatting with youngest sailor son. Thus is month 6 of being in a medical hold status in the hospital barracks near Balboa. He's existing he always says. His colonoscopy went fine, less stress on his part, dealing with prep he's worked it out and has drinking it down to a science. After the procedure he met with doctor. At one point the doctor stepped out to speak with a colleague. Son said the walls were thin so he heard the colleague state "that his colon looked like shyt". Kind of a sad thing to hear.😥 He is off the Skyrizi self infusion thing, and taking Rinvoq, an oral tablet daily. Lisa have you ever taken that? I guess he'll take that for a bit, then take it with a companion type medication. If those don't work, then surgery might be the next option. Not sure what kind, or if its up to him to seek out second opinions.
He seems in good spirits though! Bless him. He has stopped Doordash! He's found chicken tenders and hash browns in the mini mart in his barracks. I'm pretty sure he's existing on those. And milk tea. He finds things that process well, and his logical thinking is, " this is what I will eat forever". Well until he tires of it,band moves on to the next best tasting thing ever.
HHe doubts that he will get leave in Dec with all the things going on, plus the government not getting paid. Same thing with eldest sailor son. So Christmas might just be "sons and grandkids in video boxes" which is fine. That's what we did last year.

Good afternoon ladies!
It's been a sunny, warm day so far and things are drying out. I've been busy outside this morning doing more fall cleanup and put-away.
Had an interesting situation last night:
It was around 6 pm, pitch black outside. My private road is totally dark, no street lights. A few neighbors keep their porch lights on. I don't.
I was sitting in the recliner doing a little reading before heading to the bedroom to watch a video.
I heard a little tap at the door. Rosie went bonkers of course. I thought it might be Roger or Mrs. Roger since they know I sometimes turn my phone off and don't respond to messenger after supper. I turned on the porch light and saw 3 young men standing there. I could see through the window next to the door that they had name badges representing a religious organization.
I whipped the door open and proceeded to chastise them for coming to my door at night, in the dark. I told them that this visit at night was uncalled for and dangerous for seniors and for THEM since some folks in my neighborhood are veterans and armed citizens. Plus my driveway is an obstacle course and people unfamiliar with it end up with tires in the ditch. They said they parked "down the road."
I recognized two of them - they stopped this past summer and I met them in the driveway and we talked religion for a few minutes, and I told them I was very happy with mine.
They left. Rosie sat by the door for the next half a hour, ready to spring into action for a return visit, lol.
To me, it's interesting discussing other religions and churches when I have time. In the daylight. In the driveway.
I'm thinking of having a sign made that says something to the tune of "if you knock on the door or ring the doorbell and we don't know you or didn't invite you, you have given us permission to pepper spray you" and another phrase, lol. As a joke, sort of. I did have the pepper spray ready last night, by the way.😁
I have a firm rule - no one gets inside my house that I don't know or didn't invite like a repairman. I steered away another salesman on Friday whose company was "doing remodeling for a couple of my neighbors and would be glad to come in my house and give me a quote." I was coming home from town and he was in my driveway. I told him I had people to contact if I needed anything done. Bye.
If DH were still here and in good shape, I'd be a little more relaxed about this. He had no problem shoo-ing off sales people and unwanted visitors. Grateful I now have Rosie for back-up.
OK, here's a reminder that tomorrow is Weekly Check-In for those participating.😁

Heather - Very nice watercolor. Great memory from your trip, too. Still haven't figured out the knack for watercolor—I need the layering that I find in acrylics.
Melanie - Bet your bunch are glad to have you home… glad you made it back safely. We did breakfast for lunch, too. Corey found a new bacon he wanted to try, Black Forest Bacon from Aldi. I am not a bacon connoisseur, I'm a cheesetarian, so I was pretty much, "Meh🤷🏻♀️", but he liked it.
Rebecca - Yeah, they're kinda going backward of my progression with your son - but Skyrizi does very different things for his body than Rinvoq does. My progression was Humira, then Rinvoq, both of which made some difference, then plateaued after six months and eight months, respectively, then Skyrizi. I'm close to normal (still not quite) after a year and seven months on it and one rise in dosage. So nearly three years to be almost normal. Not cured, mind you, there is no cure, just something that gets your symptoms in control MOST of the time.
Sounds like Skyrizi isn't healing his colon like they'd hoped. Doesn't mean that one of the others won't. Basically, his own immune system is attacking his gut, all the way from his stomach to the exit. If they can get the right medication in him, the inflammation will calm down, so his body can heal. It took until I progressed up to Skyrizi for me. His may be the third or fourth one they try as well. Sorry… it's a terribly slow process, both when you're watching it from the sidelines AND when you're the one being treated.
I was just telling Corey today that it's only the last year that I've truly felt like I could enjoy my retirement. I was sick when I stopped work in 2020, and it took until late 2024 to really feel like I was anywhere close to being myself. Don't forget, it took them two years just to get me a diagnosis. I know he doesn't feel lucky, but getting a diagnosis that quickly is actually unusual with Crohn's.
I think about you both a lot, and sorry that Christmas together may not be possible. Keep a good thought.
Later, y'all,

We used to have pamphlets of our nudist resort we belonged to by the door. When they came to the door wanting b to give us one of their leaflets, we would say, "here we can trade pamphlets".

Thank you for your insight. He has only been on Infliximab, and Skyrizi. Not sure what companion med they will put him on nor what surgery they would do if those meds don't work out. I just told him we would be down in a NY minute if he does. 💖👍🏼🙏

Finally checking in 5 pages behind.
Mom's appointment went ok. A bit of a mix up on where her appointment was but, thankfully my bff was there, knew where the other facility on the other side of town was and we were early. Made it right on time to the right place. Took an hour. Mom said the young men were super sweet but laying on that metal table for an hour was really hard. She was hurting pretty bad when she got done. We went out to lunch with bff. Julie and I have been best friends since she was in 2nd grade and I was in 4th, so we really grew up together. It was great getting to spend time with her- never enough time.
Spent the night- Mom had an appointment to take her three young cats down to get fixed on Thursday and was concerned about finding the place early in the morning(she got lost the other time she was supposed to take them down) so I had another friend say she would take them down. Great, one less thing for mom to do. Headed home at 12:30, reminded mom that Ellen would be there at 3. Got a call at 3 from Ellen- where is mom? No clue- I called, left messages- then told Ellen to just go, she was going down to pick up her cats that had been fixed that day and didn't want to be late. Finally got ahold of mom while I was at class- she had forgotten and went with the neighbor to see my sister. The neighbor had the guy who works for him and lives in mom's garage, take mom down. He doesn't speak English and mom doesn't speak Spanish but with the help of the neighbor, it worked out. I was worried mom wouldn't be home when the chimney guy came that afternoon but it worked out too. Three big things on her list all done.
Her follow up to get the results is a week from Tuesday- I will go up to take her, spend the night and come home the next morning which will be the day before Thanksgiving. While dh and I were out shopping Friday, as we were getting in our car we heard a lady scream-look up and a lady was getting her purse stolen. The husband tried to stop him but he got away. When we got home, dh checked his dashcam- caught the whole thing on tape so he made a copy and took it back to the store. Turns out that my daycare girl's grandma knows the couple so they will also get a copy of it.
Yesterday we had the craft fair- had a great set up- 17ft for us and 6ft for dh's friend. Sales were very low but at least it was right here in town. Show went til 3, we packed up a little early but were home and unpacked by 4. One more this coming Saturday near mom's then no more shows until January.
I will have one weekend making candy at mom's but think I will change things up and make different things and not so much. I will also make some here at home and also at my friends. She wants to learn how to make some of them, especially the cracker toffee-her favorite(and one of the easiest to make.
I will make the caramel corn at mom's because she has two big ovens so I can make two full batches at a time. May even use some of the popcorn I grew this year-it isn't dry enough yet so may have to use the other popcorn. Dad would be proud of the crop I got this year-Son and his fiance have decided we will have Thanksgiving over at their place. There is more room(my dining room table is full of 3d printers and stuff. I will cook most of the food but they will make some things too. It will be odd having holiday meal back in that house. In years past we would have it, and any food I brought, my mother in law refused to even try- just said to throw it in the garbage. She really hated it with father in law ate it and really liked it. She would get so mad.
Ok- need to try and read more posts- see what you ladies have been up to this week.

Our cats are doing that too. Especially the two big boys. One will go to the room that dh is in(son's old room) and cry a bit then go to the bedroom where they are fed. He jumps on the bed, head butt's the other big boy while they wait for dh. If dh doesn't get up right away because it is way too early, the other one will do the same thing- Dh has seen the whole thing, including the head butt between the two of them- like tag teaming. It usually works- dh feeds them early then a few hours later, they try it again- I tell him not to fall for it but he gives in and feeds again.

Loving the pics of the cats and dogs and fall color…
Just in my usual Monday morning, clothes in the laundry, lap full of cat at the moment, meds to put together. Second morning below freezing, set to warm up by like 40 degrees tomorrow.
Hope it's a peaceful week for everyone.

Health things improving. I've been low carb for a while now, since before the cruise. No bread at all. I'm not recommending this for anyone else, as carbs are part of a healthy diet, but it's working for me at the moment. My bloating has disappeared and I feel much more comfortable. I may even have lost a couple of pounds as my clothes fit better.
I'm also drinking a small amount of the aloe vera I bought in Lanzarote, and taking a fish oil capsule every day. I have upped my olive oil consumption. For breakfast, I have stopped the oats and I'm eating fruit, yoghurt, seeds, and nuts. I've bought massive bags of those last, and ordered some nice glass jars. Once again, it suits my stomach.
So, we shall see how this experiment goes. At the moment I am enjoying myself, and can feel and see the benefits. It is a bit more trouble, but I can manage. My knee is slowly improving, and I am hopeful I can get it back to the state it was on the cruise. I can live with that.
Washing all the stuff post Sue's visit. Cleaner coming this afternoon for the first time in a month.
Horrible rainy dark day. But I feel optimistic. My stomach problems affected me more than I realised.

😀 The AARP magazine had a list of things to do every day to help improve balance and I recognized them as things many of us do.
*sit to stand
*farmers' carry
*stand one foot in front of the other (heel to toe) or flamingo stand while brushing teeth or washing dishes
*walk briskly 30 minutes
❄️ It got cold for a few days so I rearranged drawers to have access to gloves, warmer base layer shirts, and leggings and now the temperature has gone back up. It was drizzling this morning.

Had a lovely swim yesterday. One of the perks of a small town pool is there were only 2 of us swimming laps and the senior rate (55+) is $5.25! Most enjoyable $5 I spend 🙂
My DH must have read my thoughts yesterday when I posted about carrying in groceries. When I got home he was at the barn, but when he saw me he came over and hauled the groceries in. I was a little in shock but did thank him profusely 🩷
We host students twice a year from the U of Alberta for an externship for one of their animal science courses. They come for 3 days to see what we do. As they are staying at our place I ask if they have any food allergies or anything they can't eat. Most are good with what I serve, but these 2 girls we are hosting at the end of the week are going to be a challenge and I think it's asking a little too much, especially when they are coming to a beef producer's home. One is a pescatarian… only fish and eggs. The other only eats chicken and does not eat eggs. I don't mind if the reason is religious or because of illness, but these are personal choices. I believe if your diet is that strict that maybe this isn't the best place to come 🤷🏻♀️I will go with their diets but I think we will have a caveat the next round that beef is the primary protein served here. We have a cow that needs to have an eye removed and my husband figured that I should do it while they are here as they are both trying to get into veterinary school. Unsure if they are the right fit to see the surgery as it is a little gruesome, although the cow will be sedated and her eye will be frozen. We'll see once I meet them.
Lanette- I am with you on people, especially men, showing up after dark. Our closest neighbour is 2 miles away and there is a lot of rural crime. I too have pepper spray and dogs but being home alone can be scary. I would not have answered the door. Good on you for letting them know that wasn't cool.
Lisa- I consider myself a beefatarian 🤣 I could have it at every meal.
Heather- I am low carb. I feel better eating that way, physically and mentally. Like you said, not for everyone, but it works for me.
Barbie- whenever I hear farmers carry I imagine myself carrying my husband around over my shoulder 🤣
Take care of yourselves 💕

27 degrees and 3" of white stuffs! The roads were as white as the grass 3 hours ago. Cars off the roads everywhere. First snow is always fun 🤐
After 2 days of being out of commission due to migraine, I made up for it yesterday. Groceries done, portioned veggies and fruits, picked up and dusted dining, living, and kitchen. Shampooed carpets. Mopped kitchen. Watered plants. Vacuumed house. Cooked and cleaned dinner. Showered. In bed at 945. The house feels better though.
Love the photos, paintings, home renos, and crafts. Better get some work done.

I read the book The Invisible String by Patrice Karst. It was a sorry about a mom comforting her children during a storm. It was a story about love and how we are connected. When needed we call on those we love with our invisible strings.
I also completed changing my insurance for next year. I just have to wait for approval now. If accepted my premiums between medicare and supplemental will go up $25 per month which in this market I don't think is too bad. Although if I need any more than just routine care my costs will be more expensive than last year. Fortunately I am not on any prescription drugs.
I hope my current diet and lifestyle helps keep me on this track.
I have a friend prone to depression who just posted on social media how she is not doing well with the loss of her mother and husband…I am not sure what to say to her…As many of you know here I have lost a husband and a son in the last five years. I keep myself from depression by giving myself purpose…singing, volunteering, gardening, taking care of DrewB, my dog. I also stop and enjoy beauty when I can and follow Barie's advice of stopping and being grateful for love in my life today and the love I experienced with those who have past. Example when I read the story yesterday I thought of my son smiling and in me smiling I shared his smile.
I know my current diet and lifestyle has helped my in my mood and how I handle stress.
Is it best to encourage friend to find a grief group and or someone with experience in how to handle grief who can be objective? I admit I don't think it is me because she didn't believe I could overcome the health issues I had. She also has a hard time forgiving others if she feels she has been slighted ie sensitive.
