It was still chilly this morning. It wasn't as cold Monday, but about the same as yesterday. I find it really hard to get out the door when it is cold, so I only had time for 5 miles. I did the first 35 minutes as a tempo run. I guess I am still not fully recovered from the half on Saturday. I had a hard time holding the faster paces. Looks like I will be doing another easy run tomorrow.
Happy belated Veteran's Day @CMorning99 , @WarmJellyfish and @nossmf .

@CMorning99 @nossmf happy belated veterans day too!
@kgirlhart thanks 😁
Attempted to do tempo run tonight, fail. Need to get used to dark running. When you can't see how fast you're going its meh. No legs, no lungs more importantly no visible watch to see if I'm on pace. Need to figure out how to turn on the watch backlight ...

I’ve been somewhat absent in the last few weeks owing to the manic chaos that is this time of the year. But I have been keeping an eye on what you have all been up to.
A chunk of my absence is because I joined a choir in August and have had to learn the alto part of 26 songs - a large number of which were not actually in English - between now and then for a fundraising concert we gave to a sold out Auckland Town Hall (capacity 1300) last Sunday.
It was an amazing experience (the choir was about 250 strong) but it absolutely exhausted me mentally, and I suspect physically, too as my running has been completely rubbish this week. It could also, however, be the fact it has suddenly gotten very warm and very humid. I actually felt quite nauseous on today’s run, which could be down to the lack of food or lack of water or lack of get up and go.
Nevertheless, I have a half marathon on November 30, which is a mixture of road, trail and beach followed six days later by a 24km very, very hilly trail run, which promises to be beautiful, if arduous, and a wonderfully fun weekend away with my friends. I loved the way we ordered the burger we wanted to have after the event as part of the entry process!
In between now and then it’s full-on ballet mode for my daughter‘s upcoming end of year show. Thankfully, at least work has quietened down.
At 51.5km of 160 for November, so somewhat behind. Oops.

Morning all.
Got in 5.5M at 10'42.
@ContraryMaryMary nice! Didn't know you had a pair of lungs on you!
Not in English? <<Imagining you Doing a Haka>>

My watch lights when I raise it to check, a setting I think but not sure garmin has it.
Love the choir. but WOW! My one dive into that was when I was in high school and my friend was in the choir. We were both altos but I had no sense of pitch and could only key to match the person beside me. It did not last long altho no one had to tell me it was not a strength.
got 2 in a little faster yesterday but still mentally struggling. Oh well. If it's not physical it's mental. 😎 I missed the picture show the other night and there was none last night to even pretend to see. 43 total out of 100 planned for the month. Hopefully more motivated as the month wears on.

Monthly goal: 50 miNo workout today, had to be in the office extra early, and tonight is my choir rehearsal. Not a 250 person choir (!!!), but we are about 60 strong. Back in my teenage years my church choir was 12 people, and when I left for college my director wept because he just lost half his bass section! lol
My director was a big believer in the crossover power between singing and running, how the breath control for one helped the other, and vice versa.

Cross training day today. I did an upper body strength training video with Caroline Girvan (her Epic End Game series). Tomorrow will be a travel day and a meet @daria0919 day! 😁
@ContraryMaryMary you have been a busy bee!

Amazing group: Lot's of Veterans, and lots of singers. (@ContraryMaryMary @nossmf)

You are doing great with your recovery @kgirlhart .
@WarmJellyfish Sorry you didn't have a good run. I don't know what kind of watch you have, but can you set a pace alert of some sort? I know with Garmin I can set HR alerts. I don't usually run by pace, so not sure, but I assume I could do that too. But, I also know what assuming does..😂
Wow. That is amazing @ContraryMaryMary ! I'm sure you all sounded great!
NIce run @tarun_yadavA , @SummerSkier .
Have a great travel day and we expect pictures @Teresa502. I hope you both have a great race Saturday.

Ha, not quite the haka (that’s more yelling than singing to be fair). But we did sing a fair few in Māori, plus Tongan, Samoan, Swahili, Zulu, and Latin. A mix of traditional, pop, and a few Christmas songs for good measure. Here’s a link to watch a few (O Holy Night was a crowd and choir favourite):
And yes, singing and running are a good mix - I can certainly hold a note a lot longer than many. Glad to see there are a few choristers here!

Nice runs & walks @kgirlhart, @quilteryoyo, @SummerSkier, @Teresa502, @username301 (give yourself a bit of grace), @CMorning99 (You are human!! - glad you're back!), @nossmf, @WarmJellyfish , @ContraryMaryMary (congrats on the alto work & good luck on the Half & Burger run!!!), @tarun_yadavA!
Would love to do a 5K Turkey Trot with you @chris_in_cal, it's a truly beautiful area! I'm unfortunately not currently travelling to the USA.
As a Canadian… a "Thank you for your service" to Americans may seem a bit off to some but I will say as a Canadian, we are all very familiar with the sacrifice and courage of all our neighbour American servicemen/women in the wars/conflicts & are very appreciative of them.
Your sacrifice is remembered in Canada as well, when we remember all our Country's service members on this past Remembrance Day.Comments on iFit for @quilteryoyo in the spoiler.

Nerve pain forced a rest day Wednesday, unfortunate but I likely needed one anyway.
Today was a sunny/cold morning so I re-ran a beach run on my treadmill so I could pretend it was that temperature here too. It actually did warm up to regular season temps later this morning while I was out for a walk but it completely clouded over, with cold winds & rain before I finished my errands. At least the snow melted off.
May try a outside run in the next couple days if the weather isn't too cold/windy.They (iFit) used to have 'freebies' to try out service @quilteryoyo; mine was a free year when I bought my treadmill & then I got a 2nd year free with some other bonus thing I don't remember. Now I'm on a month-to-month. It's been good enough that I keep it but even my treadmill is too old for some of their newer offerings (that they have a different subscription rates).
One of the things I do like with my older subscription is I can use it across items. So, if I'm on my older stationary bike & want to follow a training ride, I can logon to my tablet or my cellphone & watch it while on my bike.3 -
Beautiful and amazing!

Hey @John772016
Would love to do a 5K Turkey Trot with you @chris_in_cal, it's a truly beautiful area!
Yeah, in the right time of year yours is an amazing place too. I understand.
Oh, BTW, when you do an iFit down here, from now on, we're going to need a 20% tariff
:)

Warm and humid again but did a slower 5 today as all my tech said I pushed too hard the past few days. Actually felt pretty good. No turkey trotting here but probably will attend large family gathering per usual. Sometimes I rebel and do not. Sometimes I go for a little while and leave. Sometimes I hang out there. Mostly everyone is consumed with their own families and it is just my brother and I chatting and catching up a bit.
Total 52 out of 100 mile goal for the month.
Hard to believe almost half of Nov already gone. wow.

Nope, i’m in the back row right hand side in front of the largest pipe. You don’t get to see me much.

@Teresa502 and I both agree it was great meeting up at packet pickup!

@daria0919 @Teresa502 👏👏👍🎉🎇

@ContraryMaryMary The choir sounds beautiful. I love Oh Holy Night!
Thanks @John772016 . Nice running. I should probably check into the IFit subscriptions. I know that when I got the treadmill, I didn't sign up for it because I didn't have wifi in the house - I think I was still doing dial up. LOL Even after that, by wifi was horrible. I probably could now that I have HughesNet. It's nice that you can log into it on your tablet and watch routes while you ride.
Great run @kgirlhart , @tarun_yadavA , @SummerSkier , and @nossmf .
Great pictures @daria0919 and @Teresa502 . Enjoy the race tomorrow!

Posting 3 days. This week has not been conducive to following the HM plan, so am just doing what I can and I'll repeat week two next week.
I'm not sure why, but I only slept about 2 hours Tuesday night. I just couldn't go to sleep. I went to bed early, but it was after 3 am before I really went to sleep and had the alarms set for 5! Wed was rough because of that.
Wednesday I worked from 7:30-11:00, drove home to get mom for Bible Study, worked afterwards from 1:15-3:30, had time for a mile walk on the driveway after I got home before eating dinner and heading out for our second Bible study of the day (which I napped through).
Yesterday, I worked 7:30 - 4:15. During my break, I did a wun around town. Even though I didn't run a lot of it, it was fast enough that I am counting it as a run: Avg Pace was 14:00 min/mile. Avg HR was 125 with a max of 141 bpm.
Daycare was a little stressful. See spoiler for details.
Yesterday was state assessment day. I normally don't stress much over that, and didn't really yesterday either, but it was a little more stressful than normal because the lead teacher called out sick and the assistant teacher has only being working there for about a month. The are normally three teachers in the class (only the two of us yesterday). Of course, they chose our class to observe. The assessment was at lunch time, which is one of the hardest parts of the day, but we did okay. We weren't perfect, but close. 🤣Trying to herd 6 one year olds while being observed…well, you get the idea.
After work, I met friends for indoor round robin doubles tennis. We wound up playing 4 sets instead of three because one of the pairings didn't like that fact that my partner and I trounced them and demanded a rematch before moving on. 🤣 They did beat us the second match, but it was close. The scores for me and my partners were 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, and 7-6, I think. Fun, but I was really tired when I got home.
Today, I worked 7:30-4:30 and did another wun during my break. I did an extra, slower cool down walk, so got in a total of 2.50 miles. I didn't sleep the best again (score of 47) so didn't push it. Running pace was 13:32 min/mile. Avg HR was 122 with a max of 143 bpm.

Posting 2 days.
Two more San Diego runs on the treadmill, Mission Bay yesterday & Coronado Island today (cheque's in the mail @chris_in_cal). Apparently the Coronado Island run was filmed during San Diego's winter. I only know that because the trainer said it was winter and mentioned his hands were cold. Looked like beautiful weather to me, especially compared to the fall thunderstorm rolling in outside my windows here.
I'll likely do the Coronado run another time as I shut off the 'Active Pulse' program as it wanted me to run a lot slower than I wanted to today.
I also think my heart rate zones on my treadmill may be a bit off and need a reset🤷♂️, pretty sure I've not touched them since I bought the treadmill & did the original set-up.5
