Michele - I've been thinking of posting something on Facebook that says "I'm going on vacation for a week. I hope no one breaks into the shop at …..(my address)….. and steals a drill press, metal brake…(listing all of the old tools and heavy machinery DH had). I could set a couple TV's out there too. 🤣🤣 I'm kidding. Maybe. I told Roger across the street I was thinking of doing this and if people came to clean it out, could he help load???😁

Good job on the labs, by the way. When DH was alive, he kept a pistol on the end table next to the front door. Ready for anything. He was very accurate with a rifle too. I miss my security guard.

Tracey - you'll be ready for another vacation soon. Once MIL's house is sold and things settle down, hope you'll be able to relax. ((((HUGS)))

Terri - Here's what the neuroscience says about forgetting when we walk through doorways, and some tricks for keeping thoughts on track. I ran across this a couple weeks ago and forgot to post it. Must have walked through a doorway, lol.

Why you forget when entering rooms

Rita - stunning photos of the northern lights! As usual, cloud cover here in my region plus there's light pollution, so thank you for posting. Glad your son is doing better, hope things smooth out for you. (((HUGS))))

Carla - beautiful! Thank you for posting the photo. I remember being a kid in Indiana and we could see the stunning light show where it really got dark without having to look through evergreens. Just amazing.

Lisa - thank you for sharing your tuna casserole recipe. I'm getting some good ideas here. 😉 Crossing fingers you have nice weather for the drive to the VA cardiologist.

Rebecca - lovely photos of Athena and Eli. Growing so fast. Smilers as well.😊

Flea - let us know how the lentil bread turns out. I see lots of folks raving about it on FB, but maybe it's not very tasty and they are just posting to get clicks, lol. We'll see, right?😁 I'll post my report too. Update- just saw a recipe for lentil buns….. these sound easy and good.

Rainy and dismal here this morning. 52F (11C) expected to warm up just a couple degrees. At least no wind or torrential downpours.

Make it a fabulous day, ladies!

Was looking online for the best price on chocolate- almost candy making season, just a few weeks away before I start. Found Walmart has the best price. We went there, thought about picking some up but decided to wait until closer to using it. Got to the clearance aisle and there they were. 17 bags of Ghirardelli semi sweet chocolate chips- regular price is almost $6, and marked down to .50!!!! Yep, I bought them all. That is about what I use each year. I had thought about cutting back because the prices on chocolate has gone up everywhere. Even Grocery Outlet, their cheapest is $5 now.

I make up to 18 or so kinds of fudge-changes each year, cracker toffee plus many others. After the craft fair on Saturday, I will start making my lists- what I want to make, want to add some new things, and who I want to give to. Already have the cute reusable snack boxes to fill for my zumba class to go with a 3d printed ornament

It is raining today so think I will skip walking the wetlands- I could go, and may still walk, just not as long

we have cameras for security and also so dh can keep an eye on the cats(yep, he has cameras in both catios-the large one has two cameras). We have three for the house- front door, front yard, driveway.
I can see all of them on the monitor right above my desk

A small earthquake 3.6 hit a few hours ago- epicenter on the other side of town- I felt it- one quick jolt. Dh didn't feel it.

M – I may say it here, but Vince doesn’t know about it! Honestly, I really don’t think something will happen. I know he has friends who use facebook and they may say something to him. But he doesn’t know anyone who checks in here. The chances that someone randomly would see it here and know Vince are very slim The room over the garage is a train room. Why aren’t J&C staying there? There isn’t any running water for one thing. Hope you liked the house! Did you get to see the pool? The upper patio? You KNOW we have cameras all over, Vince wouldn’t be without them. Even in the house so he can “watch the kitties”….lol

Barbie - A few of our neighbors have their trees up. Vince started putting up the decorations. The arches are up, arch for the snowball fight, “fence”, stand for Santa and today we started putting the lights on the “fence”, the controllers are out. Some extension cords but there are lots and lots more coming! The X10’s were hooked up

Hair Washing – I usually wash it when I work the next day. But I do keep the conditioner in. I just let Mother Nature dry it

Lisa – yea for the exercise! I did spinning today. The Y said the pool temp was 82, but it sure didn’t feel like 82!

Lanette – that’s surely one way to get rid of your stuff :) Vince has a gun in his nightstand. It’s in a safe that uses a fingerprint to open it. If ever I had to use it, the robber would probably be in europe by the time I’d get the courage to pull the trigger...lol I went shooting one time with Vince and I consider myself a success...I didn’t hit the floor or the ceiling (not that I didn’t come close)

I had a pic taken for my passport at CVS but couldn’t upload it so I took it to CVS after the Y today to have them put it on a thumbdrive for me. Their machine doesn’t allow them to put the picture on someone else’s drive. What I’ll probably do tomorrow after the soup kitchen is run over to the post office, fill out the form, submit my photo and let it be done. The only thing I don’t know is if I need an appointment to do that. I wouldn’t think so, but you never know…..

Getting warmer here, just had a vest on while we were working outside

Debbie – I firmly believe dogs know little kids. I remember that Sheepdog. One time Jessica when she was little literally put her finger up his rear end. I thought to myself “that’s the end of Jess”. The dog just got up and walked away. She would pull herself up on him. Nothing. One time she said “look – eye”. He just took it all in. But let me brush him the wrong way! I swear he knew I was pg even before I knew. He had been pulling when I walked him so we took him to obedience class. He stopped pulling and I figured he was finally getting the message from the class. Once I found out I was pg, he started pulling again. Almost as if he was saying “well, she knows and will be careful so I can just go on pulling” Dogs know. What a find on the price of that chocolate! I would have bought all of them, too

Here's a pic of the hole that "critter" (or whatever it is) bore into one of our pergolas. As you can see, it bore one hole, I tried to fill it in with that expanding stuff but it bore another hole right above it! Duke energy replaced all the wooden power lines with metal ones (much to the dismay of the woodpeckers) so there aren't any woodpeckers around here. Don't know what did this

I thought my dh was the only one that set up extra cameras to watch the cats. He checks on them when ever we are gone for even part of the day. He freaks if he doesn't see all of the cats in the catio- he is sure they have gotten out some how.

Heather - Sounds like a posh London kinda day-trip. Glad you're glad that you went.

Barbie - So glad you picked up Game of Wool - I really enjoyed it too, though I found the host a little odd. I remember, now that you've mentioned it, the news about one of the swimmers being a knitter. which makes more sense now that he's the host. I think it's awesome that there is more than one man involved with it all. And am getting a little attached to Holger, bless him. He might be a little cranky, but he's a heck of a knitter. The second of the series is up, as well, and the third will involve crochet, so I'm looking forward to that one even more.

Had an odd turn yesterday regarding mortality - might be a trigger for some, so I put it in a spoiler.

I had a weird turn yesterday. I did go back to my task and finished replacing the final screen I wanted to get done. As I was putting away the tools and throwing away the scraps, I thought, "Well, that's the last time I'll have to do that." The screens that I was replacing were at least 25 years old, possibly 40… and the chances that I'll live past 90 are pretty darn slim. But the thought kind of shocked me.

I don't dwell on my mortality, but it is tending to show up more and more in just my general thought processes, usually without warning, like that one. It's an odd feeling, knowing that I've lived more than two thirds of my life. Not upsetting, just… odd.

I think I need to go dig out my BBOD (Big Book o' Death) again and get it up to date. That's always like taking a weight off my mind. Plus it's probably time to start putting away a bit of money into a savings account that is designated for a funeral/burial/cremation etc., whatever the other thinks is necessary. We both have life insurance, but all things considered, it's becoming less and less necessary. If we can put away the money ourselves, we can save about $2,000 a year on that alone.

Corey wants cold pasta salad with last night's ham for dinner, and will make himself a hot dog. I'll probably skip that part and just eat some of the salad. It will have protein in it, and I really have to be in the mood for a hot dog.

Already 61 (16 C) and supposed to get up to about 77 (25 C). Rain will be here Wednesday and drop the temperature, along with it.

    Later, my babies,
    Love,
    Lisa in AR
