My mom used to make me set my hair on those hard rollers each time I washed it- Back then it was Sunday night so it was good for school. I used the large ones to straighten out my hair. And while I did this, both of my sisters went and got perms(They did NOT turn out very good)- I also had to use barrettes to keep the hair out of my eyes.
Those are two things I was very glad to stop when I got married. I did use the rollers occasionally to get my hair to just a soft wave, like date night or something special.
Back then, it was hard to find products for curly hair. None was made for my actual type- I had to go to the black people's hair products- but they left my curls pretty but CRUNCHY!! Thankfully now, there are tons of products for my typeMy hair has always been long except one time I got it cut, but even then, it wasn't really short. Love having long hair.

Today was up at 5:45 am to have my coffee, and waffle, and we left at 7:30 am for appt. Doctor stated I could stop taking my BP med of Lisinopril 20 mg. For the next couple weeks I am supposed to monitor it and if it goes up to 140/80 to start it back up, he put in a lower dose of 10 mg of Lisinopril. The daily checks of BP at the gym isn't really valid as the machine isn't very reliable. Then why do they have it? My sister said she had an extra cuff so she's going to send it to me.ππΌ
We talked about calcium and D2 or 3 and he put in a prescription for a lower dose. Interesting as I just bought mine at Walgreens. I won't deny a prescription for them though! Today I woke up to 202.0 lbs! Slow and steady! Today is waffle, salmon onigiri, and a chicken salad with dressing, red bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes and the 3 oz of rotisserie chicken. Drinks are some coffees, iced coffee, fair life protein drink, and a sparkling Ice grapefruit drink its 84.5 ozs.

A dreary, melancholy day here today. It is currently foggy and raining at the same time. Nessa, the dog has missed her time running in the pasture and has had to make do with barn time while I feed critters. I went to the grocery store earlier today.
I wash my hair 3 times a week. It is short and I am often in the pool. It has no curl but lots of body. Many times at work I got away with just finger combing it.
We have 2 ring cameras, one on the house and one on the barn. We can see anyone approaching the front of the house and down the driveway. There are so much brush and blackberry on the back of the property that only the wild critters get through there.
Heather - your London trip sounds lovely.
Allie - please take care of yourself.
Lisa- I have found myself thinking of my own mortality more lately. I am tempted to get a book called " The Gentle Art of Swedish death cleaning". I think I feel a need to get things in order for DD as she and I share ownership of this property and I am not sure how things will work out for her when I am gone.
Everyone take care, especially those in SoCal with the weather coming in, Sue in WA

Got the lights on the rest of the βfenceβ. Tomorrow weβll probably work on the lights on the arches. Jess has an appt with a behavioral therapist for Ganon to help him have more confidence. Iβd like to go to Cosco in the same town. I know Jess doesnβt like to just browse, but I do. So if I go in at 5:30, do my work, hopefully, Iβll be out by 9 when we need to leave. If not, she said we could go on sun. but I just donβt want her to have to make two trips. So Iβll get up early and go in early
Allie β you have me worried, all your health problems and needing to go to the ER so often
Rita β I never thought carpenter bees would do that much damage! What exactly did you spray into the hole? If you sprayed something into it, did they make a hole somewhere else? Did you have to spray some sort of repellent? If so, what was it?
Look at the time! Better take my shower and get to bed.

Still here, still reading along, just donβt have the mental energy to respond.
I had to call the RCMP again last night because we heard they were putting MILβs stuff in a storage unit instead of giving it to her SIL.Supposedly he is getting it on Sunday now. Iβll believe it when he calls and tells me he has it.
Then I received a message that I didnβt need to call the police.
I just said I was following the lawyerβs directions. To which the reply was, βyou couldβve warned usβ. Because thatβs how that works. πI ended up going to ceramics and venting with the ladies there for 2.5 hours without touching a paint brush. It was a good evening.
Tonight Iβm just tired, a short week always makes for a harder work week.
Tomorrow MIL and I are going to Kaitlynβs to help her decorate for Christmas.

Happily, I was feeling quite energetic yesterday! That surprised me, after my London expedition. I washed my hair and put my face on, and decided I was going to visit M&S to spend the gift card that DSIL gave me for my birthday. I asked John if he would like to come with me. He said yes. π
I did a bit of preliminary research online, and decided on a fluffy cardigan. Inky blue. I wanted to try it on for sizing. Off we went, straight after lunch. Really nice, friendly, bus drivers there and back. When they saw my stick, they waited for me, and we had a joke.
In store, I found the cardigan, and tried two sizes on. I chose the large, because I want it as a cosy cover all at home, over a light sweater. John helped with bags and stick. βΊοΈ We looked at pearl earrings, but didn't see the perfect thing. The cardigan was exactly the value of the gift card!
We then popped in to Waterstones to try to spend our book tokens from my brother, but nothing appealed. I read everything on Kindle. I nearly bought a photography book, but resisted. We may spend it on art products as they also stock them. Another day.
Then we caught the bus home. We visited the butcher and the deli on the way back. I can't live without avocados! Tonight is turkey escalopes.
So, a good day for me. The stick helps my knee a lot, as it stops it getting inflamed. The knee feels fine this morning, after two days of use. I have done my exercises.
I've sent a message to see if Edie wants to come and finish her bottle today, but I haven't received a reply yet.

Last night, my husband and I did a short drive to an old historic town in the middle of Tasmania where we spent the night.
On the way, we stopped at a pub we've never been to before and had dinner. We're keeping it in mind because it was pretty good.
Today, my husband & I organised a 200 km Audax (long distance) bicycle ride with 11 participants. While the 200 km cyclists were on their ride, I cycled 60 km which is my longest ride since January when I did this very ride.
In January, I struggled doing this ride but today, it wasn't bad. It was hotter in January which probably didn't help. However, I also weighed more. In fact, it was this ride in January where I made the decision to lose some weight before the next time I did this ride. I was hoping for 16 kg, but instead I've reached 11 kg. Still β¦ not bad. 11 kg is a decent amount of weight NOT to haul around with me on the bicycle.
I will keep at it over the summer and see if I can drop 16 kg. π
Meanwhile, my average speed was 2 km/h faster than it was in January too, which is great!!

Machka - Well done, on both the weight loss and the better time! Always nice to see that we're doing better than we were a while back.
Heather - Your cardigan looks very fluffy and comfy. Glad you had some time out with John that you really enjoyed.
Egg was singing the song of her people to us at just after six a.m., which is pretty good, she's usually quite a bit earlier than that. She must have finally adjusted to the time change. πππββ¬π₯° I refuse to get up when she first starts yelling, as I'm trying not to teach her that's a good way to get us to come open the door.
I stopped letting her sleep with us, because I do not react well to having a cat jump off the headboard and land in the middle of my stomach when I'm fast asleep. Tall headboard, 10-pound cat. No bueno.
So out she went. And I largely got her to stop singing at the door in the middle of the night by using a squirt bottle and squirting water at her underneath when she started. Only took a few iterations and she quit. But weekend mornings, when we could be up to let her outside, are just unbearable for her.
Got Corey's jeans in the washer, need to get those swapped over to the dryer. No real plans for today yet that I'm aware ofβ¦

Heather your cardigan reminds me of the short coat I just got at Kohl's about a month ago. I have wore it on and off this past month when it is cold enough. Our temps have gone from high 20's to a record breaking 72 yesterday. The ups and downs are normal for this time of year. I love the coat because it is snugly and warm for the colder days here.
I missed the Northern Lights because I would have needed to drive some at night to get away from the city lights. I really enjoyed all the picture. I did see them when in college. They were not as spectacular as these recent ones. There were not as many and only in the greens. We did not have cell phones at this time. Looking at the through a cell phone can enhance the colors.
I also had a very busy week. I did the childrens's sermon last Sunday, volunteered twice this week, (on Friday we teamed together to read The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle), traveled to Red Wing to spend time with DS, cleaned up both yards to get ready for winter, Got my outdoor Christmas decorations done, went to Choir practice, led the poetry group this week with love as the theme, went to a funeral for one of my former Choir Directors. So today will finish up some odds and ends Nice to just have a day without something planned..
Still enjoying the mums I have brought in when too cold and taking back out when it has warmed.

Heather ~ Glad you enjoyed your outing with the ladies and with John.
Just can't get the cell phone problem fixed so may have to start a new account. It has been an impossible task to get the account out of my husband's name and into mine. I will lose my phone number and hate that but can't see any other way.

Good morning!
Tracey β¦ a good vent is good for you! I used to tell my sons it was like emptying the trash. Have to get rid of that stuff every once in a while or it just overfills the can and makes a big mess.
Allie β¦ praying that you are getting answers and a good plan to address your health concerns.
Lisa β¦ a 10 pound cat jumping on my stomach would be a big "no can do" here. And, I did get my windows cleaned last weekend.
Heather β¦ I like the sweater! This is the time of the year here in the US when you can get really good deals on sweaters and I've been updating my wardrobe. A lot of my stuff is awfully pilled and doesn't look to good anymore.
Carol β¦ How are you doing, my friend?
I purchased a battery operated leaf blower yesterday at Home Depot. The leaves have hung on to the trees too long this year and the ground is too wet for me to mower mulch them as I usually do. I bought a 20V DeWalt which is what my husband suggested and the contractor next door uses (although the contractor next door has a much bigger model). I'm less than impressed. It's doing what it claims it can do, but I only get about 17mins of active blowing at full speed. (I wanted a lot more than that β¦ but I'm not willing to pay more to get that.) My leaves are wet and stuck to the ground, so it's been slow goingβ¦. and I still need to rake up the piles. Good exercise though!
I have been able to keep with my commitment of more exercise and healthier eating β¦ well actually more eating as I wasn't eating enough protein. And the scale is moving. I love the concept of intermittent fasting, but when I looked at my records for the past 6 years, my weight only dropped to a certain level and then stopped. Extra protein, less sugar carbs, and strength training have taken me below that previous low level. So I'll keep with it.
Busy weekend. Celebrating the 100th birthday of a very dear friend among other things.

Rebecca, I stole your idea for the Ink Pad note and downloaded the app. Iβm hopping to be able to import all my notes into this format. Looks much easier to use than the notes that come with my iPhone. Hope you donβt mind! π€·π»ββοΈ
Long hair: A couple days ago I say an older gentleman that had his hair in a braid- it went down below his bottom cheeks! From the back he gave me the impression of being a Native American, but WOW on the hair!
Link on Carpenter bees:
blob:https://community.myfitnesspal.com/fd99258e-527e-47a8-b4b9-c61ea44580f6We sprayed bee killer in the hole and quickly filled the hole. They actually donβt go all the way through. They make tunnels in the wood which weakens the wood. Itβs hard to believe they make such perfect holes!
Going to Post Office and storage unit to stash Halloween and search out Christmas. Probably Walmart too. Have a great day!
Thought for Today:
How did you find grandmaβs turkey this year?
I just looked next to the gravy.

πThank you to all who have shared dog stories with me. I just realized that until Jake died, I had never been the solo owner of a dog. Most of what has been so challenging for me has been because I'm the only one dealing with her. I've had cats most of my life, one or two at a time. I know about cats but dogs are different. The poodles and I were great friends. They liked to walk as much as I do. and at home they liked to sleep. Annie and Bessie don't like to walk much and Annie wants me to sit with her and play all the time.
π I stopped to talk to someone near the end of my walk this morning and she asked about Annie. I said she was doing great. Then I got home and found the back of the TV remote on the floor and the rest of the remote on the other side of the room. Fortunately she didn't damage it so I don't have to buy another one.
π Carol, can you just leave the cell phone account in your husband's name?

Howdy all
Just came up to see Doris, she I s in assisted living and on hospice
Breaks my heart
Will stop and get meds

Allie - you are in the ER so much. Hope your UTI has gotten better. Sending (((HUGS)))) Are you out of the hospital? Are they able to address the problem? Good you got to see Doris.
Tracey - hang in there. (((((HUGS))))
Michele - that hole looks a lot like the woodpecker hole in the power pole at the back of my property, though I can't see it up close. It's on the list for replacement now that they removed the trees back there.
Sue - I hear you on the mortality thing. Good that you are thinking about it now and helping your DD plan.
Maybe it's the gray weather or the shorter days, but I find myself contemplating "what's left?" Parents gone, spouse gone, I'm next in line. I'm not depressed or looking for sympathy, ladies. Just evaluating where I've been and what the next stage will be. To me, remaining open is a key. Life is like a toilet paper roll, the faster we get to the end, the faster it spins. π
Rebecca - interesting about the Blood Pressure, and also Vitamin D. What are you lowering it to?
Rita - alien memory erasers. Love it! Remember Men in Black? That too. Those carpenter bees are something else.
Heather - nice sweater and should help keep the chill off. I got one on sale from Christopher and Banks that is fake shearing and it's really warm, the perfect thing for wearing in the house on chilly mornings when I don't want to turn the heat up.
Lisa - glad to hear Egg is adjusting to the time change. These 4 legged kids keep us busy.
Margaret - good idea getting all of the outside stuff tended to while the weather cooperates. Love hearing about all the activities you are involved in.
Kay - thanks for sharing that workout. I'm going to review it when I have time, so glad it's working for you. I raced throught the DD Black "Austin" series on Kindle Unlimited and now I've moved on to Gary Gerlacher's "AJ Docker and Banshee" thrillers. Docker "Doc" is an ER doctor and Banshee is a retired Belgian Malinois police dog which Doc adopted. A fast paced mix of medical stuff and investigative work.
Beth - I too have a lot more leaves to blow away from the buildings but they are all so soggy. Weatherman is talking about sun here next Monday and Tuesday, hope it's accurate. It's so interesting how our bodies seem to reach a "set point".
Carol - having to get a new phone number might be a blessing in disguise. You might be under the radar and away from telemarketers for a while. But I agree, it's more work and frustration to have to deal with this. Can you keep your DH's phone active for a while?
Barbie - amazing the differences in dogs. Rosie is no longer a destructive chewer, but constantly barks at movement outside, and barks at ME to throw her toys. I sit in the recliner for a nap and maybe get 15 minutes before she starts up, sigh. I wish she had a switch that I could toggle to put her from schnauzer to lab to poodle, lol. Glad Annie didn't destroy the remote.
Speaking of Annie - how's it going with your dad?
T stopped by yesterday and we had a great visit. We decided that instead of just exchanging gift cards for Christmas this year, we are going to look for charities and organizations that help cats and dogs and donate to them instead. There are a couple that trap feral cats and have them neutered.
There's a local "Farm Sanctuary" (a 501c-3) that does cat and other animal rescues and rehab, and they had an announcement on FB last week that they were running short of cat food. The community responded - they were so overwhelmed with Amazon deliveries, they offered the overage to 5 other similar rescues in the state. Van loads! Our community is so good at giving to human food banks, I think we sometimes forget that the humans in need of food also have pets.
Also, T always has had Thanksgiving at her house. Huge spread, everyone brings something. Lots of people. Days of cleaning beforehand and cleanup afterward. She always has a migraine the day after from the stress. This year, T and her DH, his fun older aunt and I are going to a nice restaurant. No other family or friends, they can all doing their own thing. I'm excited. π I bought that little frozen turkey breast at Walmart yesterday and will thaw and cook it in the crockpot sometime within the next month.
OK, need to close. Sorry if I missed anyone. Just chased a big doe away from the bird feeder and want to throw together some kidney bean salad.

π¦ I bought a lean cuisine turkey entree to eat at Thanksgiving--no day long cooking, no need to dress in festive clothes, no need to make conversation. I am thankful every day for what I have and for unknown blessings already on their way.
π Dogs have been napping all afternoon except for a few breaks to bark at real and imagined people walking by.

Our pregnancy testing rates for our cattle were very good yesterday. Well below 5% open rate which is considered very low. We did 180 cows and that was enough for my arm. I only do our herd now once a year and my arm definitely is not in the same shape it was years ago. I used to do over 10,000 cows in the fall. Most veterinarians use an U/S on the end of a probe so the don't have to run their arm in. I had the 2 university students run their arms up the last 5 and tried to describe what they should be feeling. Got kind of confused facial expressions. It helps once you see the anatomy you are supposed to be feeling which they don't have yet. Nice girls but so very quiet. Very difficult to converse with- it has been awkward.
Today we had a horse dentist here so they got to experience that.
I have been eating like a crazy person the last three days. The weight gain doesn't bother me as much as what it is I am doing to my body eating all of this sugar. And it just makes me tired and feel nauseous. But who is there to blame but me eating it? Frustrated with myself.Carol- I don't know why those companies are so difficult to deal with. We have been trying to get the spelling of our last name corrected on the account and it has been an impossible task. Having to change your number sucks. Land lines were so much easier.
Allie- I hope you are able to get things sorted out and get yourself on the way to feeling better.
Take care of yourselves π

My BP was in the 90's/60's at the gym according to their sit down, put your arm thru machine, which the doctor said was unreliable. At the doctors off it 114/74 completely fine. I think my doctors Calcium w/D2 is 1200 of Calcium and the D2 is 25 mcg.
For husband and I we just bought a Hormel turkey slices in gravy package for him, while I would rather have a couple of thick slices of Kretschmar oven roasted turkey from the deli. Then its just boxed mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing, canned beans, canned yams, canned cranberry jelly, and Bisquick biscuits with butter and jam. Gravy is just the Knorr packets. Tryptophan heaven! I will have small blobs of everything.π
