Good advice about the salt, but no worries here. I used low-sodium veggie stock, only 125 mg a serving, I think, and I didn't add any other sodium. I soaked the beans myself. I'm starting to wean myself from all canned beans and veggies. I've become incredibly sensitive to salt. I am a pain to go out to dinner with, I'm like: "Can this be gluten free? And hold the seasoning. Oh, and don't put any cheese or eggs on it." LOL But seriously the pain from eating sodium from meals others have prepared is just miserable for me.

Lisa love the starling murmuration (sp?) outside the window through your fridge. Yours to Tracey “Try not to feel too bad for Rodger and his little mama…They're not losing family, they're losing people who would steal from their mother and grandmother.”
Very belated welcome @Stingray101 in Central Calif !
Lanette “…. Seems like every update to all technology creates more problems and cost.” Yah. Planned obsolescence really makes me mad.
Only through pg 5 but glad to be back.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

I've just ordered a new knee brace/sleeve from Amazon. Has excellent reviews. My other one does help, (I used it for dancing on the cruise), but I keep having to stop and tighten and adjust it. I will only wear it for longer walks, and continue with the strengthening exercises. Here's hoping it helps! It arrives tomorrow. The discomfort from the knee does not encourage me to go out. Not good.
Bea pick up today. We are supposed to be having scheduled road surfacing of the main road to our north, where I usually catch the bus, but there was no sign of it yesterday. If the buses are diverted to the south, it is a longer walk for me to change buses.
First frost of the season this morning. Quite a surprise. My geraniums seem to have weathered it OK.

Just your average day in the life of Machka...
Got bees for our second hive.
Missed my bus by about 5 seconds so walked a little over 4 km from where I park to work, including over the 1 km Tasman Bridge in 50 km/h wind.
Found out I've likely been exposed to whooping cough.
Went to a presentation by Australia's only honey sommelier, Jessica Locarnini, at the library.
And it's Day 3 of trying to close a particular bank account.

For those of you who go to Christmas parties that require you to bring something … here's an idea that is not mince tarts, shortbread cookies, gingerbread, rum balls, and other sweet treats.

Good morning all:
Home from hospital after spinal fusion.Biggest problem so far is I spilled coffee on large heating pad. I think I still have my old smalller one. I will be cautious and order a new large one-not with the risk.
Pain is improving daily. Handling walker well. Waiting for primary doc to advise on restarting blood pressure meds (was pretty low with all of the other meds). Am going to retake after taking other meds.
Hope everyone is doing well -will comment more when the fog lifts!

This is a storage room in our shop. It is primarily Christmas and Halloween decorations. It also includes general party supplies and linens. Oh, and two portable AC units for when ours go out. We’ve had both of our AC units go out at the same time twice so I’ll always find a place to store them, even though they are bulky. The decorations were stored in the attic of our old house. The way the roof lines work on this house, there is very little attic space. As a result, when we built the shop, we added the closet for all of those kind of things.
My husband has a desk for when he is working on a project and needs to sit down at a desk to figure something out.Okie in the TX Hill Country

😀Taking my friend to the hospital went smoothly. I went in with her so I could take her coat, phone, and identification with me and while I was there the nurse told me that the procedure was a short one and there was no delay so I'd be better staying in town and not going home. So Annie and I sat in the car in the hospital parking lot and waited. Annie played with her toys and then went to sleep. I listened to a podcast and read my e book. It was three and half hours from the time I left my house until Annie and I got home and she slept most of the time.
😀Allie, that's a great start on healthy eating. Little by little you will find what works for you that is healthy and tasty.. Thjere are a lot of frozen veggies that come in bags that just go into the microwave and steam in the bag—no prep and no pot to wash. Prunes, pecans and grape tomatoes are my easy to grab snacks. Find things like that for yourself. If you put your energy into caring for yourself instead of caring for other people you will do great.
😀 Barbara, it's good to see you posting again.
😀 Ginny, thanks for letting us know that you are through the surgery and on your way to recovery.
😀 Okie, Nice organized room.
😀 Rita, you and Lucy are so clever—you for making those puzzle toys and her for figuring them out.
😀 Later this morning some hunky guys will be getting on my roof and clearing off the debris that has accumulated in the last six months. The dogs will be agitated but they will stay in house and be safe.

Good morning from Northern Virginia! Found this group while searching for a community to join. I've had a hard year and found myself hit my highest weight yesterday. Looking to start taking care of myself a bit better.

Ginnie - Good to see you, and so glad your spinal fusion went well.
Barbara AHMOD - Thank you for the comment on the murmuration, and yes, you spelled it correctly and gave the right name for it. Love seeing you my friend… always good to see you posting.
Here in the Arkansas River Valley, today's supposed to be more than 80 degrees (27C), and then get somewhat cooler… but no overnight frosts in the forecast until US Thanksgiving, the last Thursday in November.
I find it fascinating that companies that sell products into the United States, like one of my favorite yarn stores that's based in Denmark, also dive into the whole Black Friday/Cyber Monday thing. But then again, it's kinda how it all works, I guess. Take advantage of whatever has people shopping, especially just before Christmas.
Got an idea in my head that needs to get written and off my mind. My daughter pointed this out when she called me yesterday on her way to early morning PT in Hawaii. Love that girl. These kind of ideas just keep poking at me until I write them down. Seldom get writer's block unless I don't want to write about something, and then nothing else will volunteer to be written until I write the one that's poking at my twisted little psyche. That may have been more than you wanted to know about how a writer's brain works. Not all writers, just mine.
Egg's taking advantage of the very nice weather and is outside giving the squirrels something to think about.

Thats cool! Part of the problem with decorations is the storing, the condition of the area you have to store, and the fact that they have to be in a dry area. You seem to have solved all issues!
My decorations are in a big LEGO box I acquired from eldest son. A good quality box is key! Its in a space under the stairs so its in the house, dry.

Wearing my longer exercise pants for the gym. They are warmer, and my calves aren't exposed like the other ones I have. I was up at 4:50 am this morning! What tha??
Still showing 202 lbs on the scale, but I seem to only go down once during a week, and its a lb or less. Being patient!

Ginny - so glad things are going well. You are very stalwart.
I'm in Waitrose, waiting to walk down to the school. I did a shop for ingredients for our anniversary meal on Thursday. Bresiola, Tuna steaks, and stinky cheese. I've got artisan Stilton for John. John will carry it from the school. I follow a Gordon Ramsey recipe for the Tuna. Sort of Japanese.
I had a voucher for £6 off on a £21 shop, so great value!!! Having my free coffee.

your heating pad should be totally fine- just clean off the coffee. Many are waterproof. Liquid can not get in them so no danger using it.

Rain has stopped for a few days- back on Thursday so may not get to walk unless I pull out all the rain gear- may do that(have done it before and was the only one out at the wetlands which felt a bit strange)
Hope to stay home most of the day. Dh does want to go for Taco Tuesday at our favorite place. I will get the civeche tostada- $5.99 but it is piled up so high, we share that and some tacos- $10 for lunch for the two of us and the civeche is so so good. Very light and refreshing. Last weeks Taco Tuesday order for usPlan on getting the 3D printed things packed up and ready to go up on son's top bunk to store until the next show in January and OFF my couch. Need to declutter the whole living room so I have room to get the Christmas decorations out Thanksgiving weekend.
Want to put a few Thanksgiving decorations(blow up and back drop) today now that the rain has stopped
Have a pile of clothes to put away
No class or daycare kid today so hopefully get things done.
Salmon cakes for dinner using the left over salmon.
We get the salmon trims at the Asian market- there is so much meat on them, super super fresh and only $2.99 a pound. Because they are thin, they air fry up so quick with just a bit of lemon pepper on them
Salad to go with them and that is it
Two nights ago I made won ton soup-frozen won ton, mushrooms, Napa cabbage and pho broth with added ginger, garlic, Chinese 5 spice- It was so good, only used half the bag of won tons- No left overs. We each had two bowls. Need to pick up another bag of them. $4.99 makes two meals. Add what ever veggies I have but need to always keep the little brown mushrooms and Napa cabbage on hand. Tofu can be added as well as lotus root(my new favorite veggie- so crunchy. Dh doesn't care for them or water chestnuts so more for me)
Lotus root doesn't hold up very well so need to buy it and use it within a few days.
Have daikon in the fridge I need to use- bought it to make pickled daikon and carrots. May make that today- that would go good with the salmon cakes.Need to finish my tea and get some things done around here.
Dh is still in bed- his foot is hurting, thinks it is arthritis. Sorry he is hurting but better chance of getting to stay home and not go out shopping.Have a great rest of your Tuesday.

Spent ages with Bea, choosing her crocs for her Christmas present. The size she is was sold out in her favourite colour. Eventually settled on a paler pink. Then we looked for the gibitz to go on them. She wanted the letters to spell Bibi, but I also managed to find these food ones. She is a foodaholic, so they are perfect!
EdIe is still thinking. Max is having money and a book. No adult present giving. The kids are desperate to give us presents, so there was discussion about that.
Edie is coming over on Sunday afternoon to finish her bottle. In the morning she has cyclo-cross in London, and straight after us she has swimming. We will give her a snack like last time.

It's been very hectic for me the last few days. The students left on Sunday at noon. This group was not a good experience for us. First the very picky diets ( we asked the administrator if they had included this when interviewing to come here and both said they had none 🤬). Both are trying to get into veterinary school and I think that's why they chose here. The one had no interest in our operation. I am pretty sure she used us to check off one of the requirements for application. She was actually very surly here. We couldn't wait to get rid of her. The other was better and had a lot of questions but was sooooooo timid. We had an equine dentist here most of Saturday and she wanted them to put their hands in the horses mouths to feel what she was doing. They barely wanted to do that. I also did a necropsy on a neighbours horse that died. They had no interest in putting gloves on and feeling around. I would have been all over that as a student. I now see why kids with very high GPAs might not make the best or most lasting veterinarians.
Tried to get caught up on the chores I normally do on Saturday but was completely Drained by Sunday. Didn't even go swimming. Then a lot of cases came in at work and had to go to town yesterday- ran out of time to workout.
Hoping to get caught up and get back to normal.Lanette- No AI here… all au natural. I always described figuring out a calving problem as doing a puzzle in the dark.
I feel the same as you about holiday meals. I usually end up doing them and the whole day's work is consumed in about 20 minutes. I don't care for the small talk either. I get to the point where everyone starts to sound like the teacher on the Peanuts cartoon… mwa mwa mwa mwaaaaa 😢 My introvertedness has skyrocketed in the last few years and I find people exhausting.
My protein intake is at around 150 grams. I eat a lot of meat which I enjoy. I have been reading about how important it is as we age. Just don't utilize it as well… like so many other things 🤪Love all the pics of the animal cuties. And always impressed with everyone's artistic and crafting abilities. My daughter once asked me why I couldn't draw or do crafts line the other moms. My reply was- yeah well how many get to see a C section on a cow? Not impressed by that 🤷🏻♀️
Take care of yourselves 💕

Lanette – I honestly don’t think that’s a woodpecker hole. We would have heard a woodpecker. We used to hear them all the time but ever since the power co. replaced all the wooden towers with steel ones, it’s been years since we’ve heard a woodpecker. I’m leaning more and more towards the carpenter bee hole that Rita suggested. Sure looks like what we have
Lisa– I just love Levi’s smile
Terri– prayers for you BIL
barbie – thank you for passing on the info about Barbara. I was wondering where she was. Glad to know that she’s OK
Flea – So many times when you go out, the food is so salty. I guess that comes from the fact that I don’t use much salt so I’m sensitive to it when it’s there. The other day we were at Olive Garden and I got the salmon. To me, was it ever salty! I wish there was a way that you can add something to a, say, soup that would take the salt out. I know that adding baking soda to something like coffee will cut down on the acidity. But I don’t know of anything that will cut down on the sodium. <sigh> You should see me when I go out to eat. My daughter laughs and says “ma, by the time you’re done, the meal looks nothing like what is on the menu”. It’s always “instead of fries can I get the broccoli”, “no mayo or pickles or ketchup” “can you hold the bread” “no cheese” and on and on
M – hope you don’t get whooping cough
Ginny – sending only good thoughts your way
A customer at BK told me yesterday that this one girl was in the hospital. Honestly, I wasn’t putting a whole lot of stock in it. But today I spoke to the store manager and she confirmed that this gal is in the hospital with pneumonia. Evidently she passed out at home and her mother found her. Don’t know how long she’d been out. But she is in ICU and according to her mother, it doesn’t look good. God will take care.
Noor – welcome! My daughter used to live in Reston
Wasn’t windy so we got most of the lights on the arches. Last night we got them out and tested them. Tomorrow isn’t supposed to be windy, either, so we’ll probably finish putting the lights on
BK was very slow yesterday so didn’t work much. Was going to take my car for inspection only they were closed because they are repaving their driveway so I’ll go next week. Stopped at WalMart then home. Made a cake that I’ll freeze for thanksgiving
Oh, Ken & Lynette moved into their house. They’ve only owned it for a year. But if they can afford two mortgages...more power to them.
Okie – remind me if I forget, I’ll have to show you how Vince has things stored. To be honest, I’m impressed.
Have a question: if you put a wonton is the air fryer, does it brown up?
