Went to Walmart and got a haircut today. DH hung around Walmart waiting. After the haircut, i went around Walmart and got some oikos triple zero yogurt, some cheese crackers and small bag of pepperoni, and a ‘bottle’ of mini milk bones. Lucy loves those. After this, we grabbed some food at Taco Bell and brought it home. Not much else happened today. My son called, he’s doing ok right now. He had a full turkey dinner yesterday. He was happy about that. Now resting and watching Harry Potter #5.
Here is my haircut:
Lucy yesterday, out cold.
Thought for the day:
College student: "Hey, Dad! I've got some great news for you!"
Father: "What, son?
College student: "Remember that $500 you promised me if I made the Dean's list?"
Father: "I certainly do!"College student: "Well, you get to keep it."

@Vickil57 and @Anniesquats100 … how are you two doing?
@Rosemarie2972 … how was your trip to Europe?
@GodMomKim … I hope you had a good Thanksgiving.
Debbie - I'm glad your mother had a good experience with her new doctor and good test results.
Brain atrophy is a natural and gradual decrease in brain volume which occurs with age … and I think some of the increase in memory issues as we age can be attributed to that.
Lists, whiteboard calendars, labels, reminders on our phones, sticking to a routine, etc. can help.
Ginny - I'm glad to hear you're recovering well from your surgery.
My swim instructor specialised in butterfly … I'm amazed at people who can do that stroke. My shoulders wouldn't stand for it!
I am feeling quite a bit better than I was a few days ago. This one was relatively mild compared to what I had in September. I am just going to have to start going on long walks at lunch, even if the weather isn't great, so that I can avoid people.
Regarding the cruise ships — this season, I think we're meant to see 75 of them, which isn't too bad. I think we've had years where up to 100 have turned up. Hobart is a small city, with a small city centre, so when, let's say, 5000 people disembark from a cruise ship, it makes quite an impact. Some go on tours, which is great because they're taken away from the city centre, but a lot stay in the city centre and fill up the shops.
Unfortunately, that makes it difficult for the people who work and live in/near the city centre because we come out of the offices at lunch time intent on running a few errands or picking up a bite to eat or whatever, and everything is chockers. Those 2 or 3 errands can end up taking twice as long … and put us in contact with a whole lot of people we wouldn't ordinarily come in contact with.
One of the downsides of having Christmas in the summer is that the winters here tend to be long and dark. I'd like to see everyone setting up Christmas lights in about July to brighten things up.
And because Christmas comes when our daylight hours are the longest, lights aren't a big part of the Christmas decorations here. Some people people set up exterior lights, but not very many.
We are tentatively planning to harvest some honey in December. We think the top box of the tall hive should be pretty much completely full of honey.

Morning, my chicks, from my chilly, wet, Arkansas rainy morning.
Grateful it's not snow. I know everyone says it everywhere, but seriously, these people do NOT know how to deal with snow, they're just not set up for it. And it usually happens at least once a year, sometimes twice.
I'm typing with a coating of blonde L'Oreal dye on my hair - got tired of the gray waving at me. It would be fine if it came in pretty, but it doesn't so far. With short hair, dyeing it is not that big a deal. Saves me $100 to $150 at the salon, and I get the same color I would from them. Learned to add toner (basically bluing) to the dye to keep it from going red or brassy, and I'm usually pretty happy with it.
I was going to say it was my one vanity, but no, it's not. That's OK.
I'm fine being a little vain about some things. My hair will be blonde, I will keep evicting the hairs from my chin, and I will occasionally wear eyeliner and mascara when I'm feeling in need of picking up my own mood. And at the moment, my mood about how I look is pretty sketchy - the scale just went past 170 this morning. I knew I'd gain weight when my health recovered. And here I am. Feeling very well, but gaining weight. It bothers me. I know the map and all the paths to get my weight back under control. I just don't know if I want to take it.
Still thinking.
Speaking of which, Rebecca - I meant to say how much I loved that picture of you. You look happy and healthy and like you feel good. I'm so glad this is working for you, dear heart. You deserve to feel good about yourself.
Half an hour and I'll be blonde again instead of piebald.
Later, my lovelies,
Lisa in AROh - and a quick edit to add that part of the reason I feel so good is that I have got the exercise thing going again. More than a month (don't remember when I started, honestly, but before November began), and up to 15 minutes on the elliptical one day, 15 minutes on the rower the next, plus weights one day, yoga and shoulder exercises the next added to those. Now I'm starting to bump up the intensity on each. Going to stick at 15 minutes a day for now.

The hoar frost arrived
I have been talking to a few retirees at some functions we have been at lately and most of the conversation has revolved around their upcoming trips. Many halfway around the world. When I took this picture I thought- this is where I am happiest. Sometimes the beauty of where we live takes my breath away and has me close my eyes to try to commit it to memory. I guess this is why the thought of dealing with travel and crowds and big cities holds no appeal. I have done a little in my life but always have the pull of home. I am truly grateful for where the majority of my life has been spent.
Today is household chore day. Blech. My most hated is putting the duvet cover back on after washing it. Not sure why it seems so complicated. I can do surgery on a cow but the duvet cover wins every time. While I am complaining, who had the bright idea of removable bra liners? Do people out there wash them separately from the bra? They come out all bent out of shape and never insert properly again. I think they were invented by the same guy who invented pantyhose hose.
I hope to get a bike ride in. High of -12C (10F). Got my heated socks plugged in. Two days of hunting season left so the orange vest will go on too. Like Matchka said- very few months of the year to enjoy a warm ride.
Lisa- Corner gas is true to what life is like in rural Alberta and Saskatchewan. Even down to the rivalry with the neighbouring town. I haven’t watched it in a while. Think I will rewatch it. The other good Canadian series is Schitt’s Creek. I love Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy from their days at SCTV.
I went grey mostly out of an allergy to hair dye- makes my hair fall out. Oh, and laziness. I do enjoy makeup. I never could wear it in practice so I like to “glam it up” when I go out. Plus there was my mother’s advice to always have lipstick on after the age of 35!?!? 🤦🏻♀️ Good job on the exercise. 15 min a day X 7 days = 105 min a week! Adds up!Debbie- hope the wisdom teeth calm down. I was born without any. Same with my kids. Lucky.
Rita- nice fresh new do 💁🏻♀️
Take care of yourselves 💕

Rori – so glad for D
Rebecca – cool slippers. One year I jokingly said “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas”. I now have “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas ornament” (2), and last year Jess got me hippopotamus slippers. You look so good in those pictures. What a transformation!
Kylia – you all look so lovely (even Tori)! Those curtains look like curtains that I used to have. Are they lined with this silver reflecting stuff? Yea for longer daylight!
Had our T yesterday (Fri). Made a “healthy” pumpkin pie (I think part of what makes it “healthy” is the oatmeal crust, also less sugar), an apple pie, chocolate cake for Jess, of course the turkey, sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, corn, honey glazed carrots, sweetpotato muffins and regular biscuits, cranberry sauce, macaroni &cheese, gravy
Melanie – the sleigh ride looks so so cool. I agree, doesn’t kylia have beautiful eyes? I hear ya on those removable bra things. What I’ve done is just barely tack them in place.
Margaret – I like to prepare as much of the meal as possible beforehand, too. For some reason Jess is very focused on preparing things that day. Like I made the potatoes and carrots Tuesday and browned the meat for the stuffing that day. She couldn’t understand why I didn’t make it that day. I made the cake beforehand and just had it in the freezer (I admit, I almost forgot to put icing on it. I just sprinkled some confectioner’s sugar on top. I hope she doesn’t believe that food you get in a restaurant is made fresh??? And she likes to go out to eat. It’s probably fresher if you make it at home
Lisa – we have Zaxby’s here. I’ve always avoided it because there was only fried food. Is it still that way? Good for you back to exercise!
Carol – my father used to say that he was allergic to turkey. Personally, I think he just preferred to have chicken, tho
We have one neighbor who always gives any dog out walking when he’s walking ½ a Milk Bone. As you can imagine, he’s a real favorite!
Off to work some more on the jigsaw puzzle. Now it’s slow going because I’m just beginning to do it.

😀 Melanie, I love where I live. I often look out the window or out the car window or when I'm walking and realize how many people have saved all year to travel to where I live. I did a fair amount of traveling when I was younger so I've seen a lot of the US and Canada and some spots in the Pacific and Far East, but I love it most where I live and am content to be where I am.
😀Margaret, my mother served Ocean Spray jellied cranberry sauce all the years I was growing up and I was horrified the first time I went to someone else's house and they had cranberry sauce made with whole berries and orange. Later when I was teaching first grade, we made cranberry sauce from whole berries as a class project. I still have a feeling of nostalgia about the jellied canned stuff but don't eat it because I know the ratio between sugar and nutrition.
😀 Michele, it's hard for two women to share a kitchen especially when they both have strong opinions about how things should be done. The only reason I've ever been able to cook in the same kitchen as my mother is for me to decide that we'll do it all her way.
😀 Lisa, congrats to you on having your exercise plan back on track.
😀 Handyman came yesterday to install the new doorbell and new smoke detector. Both projects involved testing the sound so the dogs were bonkers. They didn't settle down for more than an hour after he left. There seemed to more people than usual walking in the afternoon (sunny weather, and maybe guilt from overeating at Thanksgiving) so they had a lot of reasons to run to the door and windows and bark.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I think I am finally settling for the long haul, until I get to my goal weight. Its uncharted territory beyond the 190's so I am not quite sure what it will be. You sensed my frantic emotions when I was on 5 mg, struggling, and rethinking my life with Zepbound.
I know many think this way of losing is not the route to go. I appreciate your calm hints of caution, yet still you support me. That means a lot to me. Sometimes people will walk a path that makes no sense to you. But to each its own and I just value that.
Yesterday I attacked the living room, moving furniture, wiping lamp and window sills. Put things in the hope chest that were out and now they can take a holiday while the Christmas stuff is out. I am happy with my floating lit candles that are stuck to my front window. A new purchase a couple of months ago. They have sensors that turn on when its dark. I however do not wish them on all night, so I unscrew the battery caps on the bottom a bit to "unactivate" that. Bare tree is up, staring at me crookedly, like "what"? My jewelry tree is in the window, and I still have to create the village scene. I told husband that I would put the glittery snow down, and the two mirror " skating ponds". He has to choose the buildings from his collection then I will put little things around. I'm sensing an invasion already.....😂🙃. As long as he doesn't use the Vietnam era village, I'm cool. I told him could put trees down as long as they weren't the ones with apples. You can't have apple trees in a Christmas village!😂
Husband has bought all the gifts for him and me. Another year of gleeful cluelessness! After my whole married life of "ok each son gets this and this, no wait one has more, I need to rewrap that is two presents then it will equal out", and buying stuff I wanted to wrap up and fake surprise" well its nice to not do that. Whenever the sailor sons come to visit, maybe Feb, or March/April for eldest, then I will buy their presents. Or just buy them stuff when the after Christmas sales happen.👍🏼
Time to pay bills! I will use the notebook husband has started. I told him that his computer intimidates me! I need numbered steps on how to do things! Sure I can get to the banks website and balance, but the other sites I just don't know. Part of me is like, I don't want to know, and the other part is I don't want to have to know! But reality wise I gotta know. I notice as I have gotten older I fear knowing new things. Like how much CAN I cram in this brain of mine?? I know I am an odd bird. That's what I want to be. That weird old lady that has history, has stories, and beats to her own drum.😁💖

Hello everyone;
I am still trying to catch up. DH took a lot of my time when he was here. We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and invited DS and her partner, but they had to help cook at his mom's house. Well, we noticed everyone there was eating Dinner instead of breakfast. So we ordered breakfast and had Dinner to go. Plus, I needed to go for my breakfast. I was going to share my meat with Rose and have leftovers on Black Friday. DH ate all of my meat and promised to take me back to CB on Friday. Well, we checked on Julia, and DH wanted to lay eyes on her to make sure everything was okay. They were sick the night before with a stomachache. So we left and arrived at CB, but the wait time was 35 minutes. DH did not want to wait, so we went to Waffle House. I ate 1/2 a waffle, one bite of sausage, and an egg. I ended up throwing the hash browns out and gave Rose my sausages, eggs, and some hash browns. This week, I lost 3 pounds, and DH gained weight by eating my food. Rose was a happy dog. I think I taught her to beg, so I need to go back to strictly dog food for her health, too.
Lanette, the food at K's diner looks great and can last a few days. That is the way to do Thanksgiving. As a kid, I hated being the dishwasher. Then my friends started coming over, and I got help. My friends loved my dad's cooking. My kids love mine, but we had to go to MIL's, so I had to cook too, and they would go home and eat as well. I am glad I didn't cook this year. I don't know if I will again. I enjoyed Thanksgiving more this way.
Pip, I sent the dog to you from Etsy. Remember, I asked for your address? I figured you could paint the dog into a yogi or one of your other dogs. I saw some cats that I wanted to send to Lisa and Kylia, but I didn't have their address.
Terri, I hope your back gets better soon. Sending prayers your way.
Lisa, I love the red flowers, and that is the part I will someday learn how to do.
Tracey, how are you feeling? Any bruising? I hope you slow down and let that heal.
Melanie, wow, that technician unloaded a lot of crap on your daughter. She should not give medical opinions or advice. So, does your daughter have PCOS?
Allie, you sound better.
Rita, great to hear from you. Lucy may have been traumatized. The pound and the shelter can be traumatizing.
Carol, as far as meeting friends, you may need to take a page from Barbie's book and attend some group activities in your community, like an exercise class or senior activities. I met friends when I first moved here in MS, through meeting parents at my kids' school. DS's friends had some snooty parents, so I stayed away from them. I like more down-to-earth people.
I hope Annie is okay. I haven't heard from her in a while.
Michelle, I hope you all had a great dinner with Jess and Colby.
Okie, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, too.
I am working tonight, so I am going to lie down now that my feet are warm.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

😀 Rebecca, as with all weight loss plans, yours has its issues. The adds on TV say that people who stopped the product, gained weight. The important thing is to develop a lifestyle that you can live with for the long run rather that reaching a goal and going back to your old ways. Taking it one day at a time is always a useful tool. The need for reduced calories, exercise, and plenty of protein won't go away no matter how much weight you lose. You and I have vastly different approaches but what we have in common is that it works for us and is something that we can do day after day.
🐶 Mo, I have some good dog treats to help me resist the impulse to give Annie and Bessie people food. I keep their two meals small so I have the freedom to give them dog treats throughout the day. It makes us all happy.
❄️ No snow here so far but I've added extra staples to my grocery order so if snow sneaks up on me, I'll be able to skip a week of grocery pick up without having to do without things I need.
😀 I placed an order on Amazon for some snack bars and tissue pocket packs that I can't get at the grocery store and they offered me a deal for slow delivery (a week from today) with a four dollar credit that will go toward my Prime streaming subscriptions. I'm not in a hurry, I just want to be able to get the things I need.
😱 I am having one of those days when I feel like I've accomplished nothing so I paused to make a mental list of what I've done and realized that going to the library, doing a load of laundry, washing my hair, walking for more than 90 minutes, going to two meetings on Zoom, and eating my healthy meals was a sufficient accomplishment.

Hello all
Im watching the National Lampoons Christmas vacation..priceless..
My cane has been helping me and my rollator is ready.. and they are coming Monday to start PT

Allie - glad to hear Dan helped you.
Rita - Rosie has the same dog bed! Can't beat the price. Very nice haircut.
Debbie - what a terrible time to have your wisdom teeth kicking up. Hope you can get in soon and have that taken care of. I have a rear molar that hurts at times (not wisdom tooth, had them out), dentist can't find anything wrong but the root is up there in the sinus cavity which is congested a lot thanks to allergies.
Rebecca - I think it's a benefit you are using Zepbound while also being in this group, logging, meeting your protein goals, exercising and seeing a nutritionist. I think that's what will keep you going just fine after you reach your goal and aren't taking it anymore. Slow and steady wins the race.
Barbie - I agree, it's good for our well-being to concentrate on what we HAVE done rather than what what is left to do. Accomplishing small tasks is one way I can keep the plus side looking good too.
Mo - I've heard so many good things about Cracker Barrel's food, glad you got to go there. I'm not surprised there was a wait there on Friday. How long is your DH home for?
Melanie - the beauty and the quiet of that snowy scene is breathtaking. Seems like a lot of people, of all ages, are chasing one more adventure - maybe another check off on the bucket list? I've dipped toes in both oceans and went over the Rocky Mountains. So I'm good too. It's so nice to be at a place that satisfies your soul.
Got an email from T this morning. Yesterday afternoon, an elderly neighbor gal and her 2 dogs were walking on logged property just down from T's house. Well, a black bear came out of the unlogged forest, rushed at her, knocked her face down, scratched her arms and bit her head when the dogs distracted it and it took off. Thankfully no serious injuries. T often walks her own dogs there. Needless to say, there's a bear hunt going on right now. There are a lot of bears around here, but attacking a human is rare.
I had planned to do SWSY today, but woke up with sore elbows for some reason and a pulled muscle in my back. I'm still getting plenty of steps in. So calling it good.
It's supposed to dip down to 30F or below tonight. How are you gals in the Midwest faring with the winter storm warnings?
Stay safe, ladies.

So nice to take food over to that house and have a nice peaceful meal that was enjoyed by all of us after many years of taking food over there when mother in law lived there and she refused to eat anything I cooked. We didn't do the traditional mealWe had salmon, ham, fried rice, rolls, mac and cheese, cranberry sauce and deviled eggs Desserts were chocolate chip banana bread that Rovin made that was really good plus chocolate cake beings today is also dh's s birthday today
Tooth was bothering me so we cut the evening short. Yesterday the tooth was even worse pain wise. I woke up this morning and the pain is a lot better but now it is swollen- I will take swollen over throbbing pain any day.
Dh is gone for the day so I have started decluttering the living room to get it ready for Christmas decorations. I am hoping my son and his fiance will come put the tree up for me again like they have been doing the past few years. Years ago, it was always just him and I decorating it, then girlfriend started helping and they did it together. I felt a little pushed aside the first year but since then, I love watching them do it together.
I want to get as much done as I can this weekend- Next weekend I will be at mom's to get the candy making started. I won't do as much-don't want to over do it. I will be helping at the food program Saturday morning with her and also go see my aunt on Sunday. I can take a few treats and some of my popcorn out to her. She loved dad's(her brother) home grown popcorn. Hard to believe it has been almost 6 yrs since he passed away.
Break time is about over- need to get back to cleaning/decluttering-

thanks- I am not sure it is my wisdom tooth- hard to tell when the whole side is throbbing. May be the back molar.
That is so scary to have a bear attack so close. Glad the lady had her dogs with her and she wasn't hurt any worse.

ahhhh! The mystery is solved! Thanks so much, that dog is more like a golden retriever and not a lab like yogi . I think I will do the golden retriever like my first, rocky, I still think about him a lot. I got him to be a therapy dog.
his first and only 5k that he ran with me and we got1st place!

Yep Barbie, the group I'm in on FB talks about that too. This medicine mimics the receptors that manage appetite and feeling satiated. But unlike what our body makes, lasting minutes, this lasts a week. Until we take our next dose. So going off of it, your body returns to its old ways, food noise high, appetite suppression low. Pretty much all who go off of GLP-1's will gain their weight back. Hense the lifetime commitment, being on a maintenance dose forever. Some take the dose every other week, some that have been on it for years, and are on maintenance, take it monthly. Its unique to each person really. I like the fact that food isn't in the foreground of my life. Its importance minimised and not too much emotions attached to it. Not that I don't enjoy food, or that I eat without tasting.

Wowsa, some scary stuff in your neck of the woods! Be careful!
This site, its food diary, checking in weight wise, looking at reports, plus of course you all, has really helped me stay on target. There are times I unfollow my Zepbound group on FB, just too many silly posts of people wanting the members to tell them what to do, on how to give themselves the shot. Its like a hand palm to my head of silly, irresponsible people. Do your research! It drives me crazy. But I do post on there every so often.

Machka- Ha! Nope- not Vegreville. The tree lighting was in Innisfree, about 25 minutes east. No Ukrainian egg but there is a giant penguin with a scarf around its neck leftover from a movie that was filmed there.
BTW- I dated a guy from Tasmania in my 20s. He was here in an exchange. Ha! That brought back memories 🙂
I had to laugh at the penguin because Tasmania has a town called Penguin, with a big penguin!! They dress him up in different costumes from time to time.
I met my Tasmanian in France, married him in Canada, and moved to Australia about 16 years ago. 😁

Seems like a lot of people, of all ages, are chasing one more adventure - maybe another check off on the bucket list?
I am.
Most of my life I've been the restless type.
I like travelling — seeing and experiencing new things.
I like trying new things — I've got a "bucket list" of things to try, like the ones I have tried recently: fencing, pottery with a wheel, swimming.
I like challenges and adventures — cycling long, long distances, hiking up mountains, touring countries by bicycle.
I'm still young … there's still time for adventures. 😁
That said, I'm still struck by the beauty of the little island where I live, which was apparently visited by 1.3 million tourists last year!

Today, we held what is usually the biggest cycling event on the Audax calendar down here in Tasmania … biggest in terms of people, and maybe climbing, but not distance.
Once a year we have a 200 km ride with over 4000 metres of climbing. That's about 125 miles with over 13,123 feet of climbing.
We don't get large crowds out to our events, so when I say that this one is the biggest in terms of people … we usually get 15 to 30 people, depending on the weather. This year, we got 18 people. A decent turnout, especially considering the horrendous weather over the past couple months.
Because I am the present of our club, it falls to me to organise this particular event. I choose to organise some of the others throughout the year, but this one has been attached to being president.
This event is also our only fully supported event.
So all week, I've been preparing. Getting the volunteers the information they need. Ordering the food and supplies and organising them. Getting the riders the information they need. Checking and double checking the weather.
One rider didn't finish because of a mechanical issue, but the rest finished with smiles on their faces. 😊
It is a long day for us (up at 5:30 in the morning and home again by about 8:30 pm) but I do enjoy that the cyclists enjoy the day.

Machka- I hadn't thought about the Christmas lights. I don't remember even having lights on tree....I will need to pull pictures. Congratulations on the successful bike event.
Rosemarie- We are so excited to hear your trip details.
Annie- We all think of you daily.
I mentioned retiring in the next 2ish years. My SIL laughed at me-smh. I said I don't mind still helping out but I want to have time. I want to travel, cross stitch, garden, read, exercise, take dance classes. She said you want to travel with your siblings. Yep! I also don't mind traveling solo though I might want a dog if driving lots solo. This world can be scary. I want to see my family and friends. I want to drive the coast lines. I want to visit Italy, England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Holland, and Denmark. I want to go back to the Philippines. Most of those countries have been on my list since I was a child. Tasmania is new. I didn't realize it was a real country until Machka. I want to fly first class once (well twice round trip). I want to take a train trip. I want to take a cruise ( I am thinking river style). My DH is more comfortable at home. I feel sorry that his nor his sister's worlds are so limited and small. I am not saying that my home is not beautiful, but it is not an all in. There is so much to see and do.
Is there a succession plan for shop? Nope. I believe my son in law and Dana's granddaughter are the next generation. If so we need to set them up for success. When she wants to work she is awesome. I need to push her to notice things that need done. The shop/showroom don't clean themselves. At minimum, we need 2 more employees. I would really like 3 more. 1 parts and sales. 2 mechanics (getting rid of R). And I a part time pickup/delivery driver for Spring/Summer. Not my circus, but I am wrapped up in it. Need company policies written out. Gone are the days of just knowing everyone is working towards the success of the business. So on Wednesday, I cleaned the front counter area and reorganized. On Friday, I started washing windows in addition to paper work and customers. More of the productive procrastination. I am tired of looking at the mess. Yesterday morning I finished the windows in spite of the cold. I also cleaned off a door that was disgusting, and 5 shelving units. My SIL, gotta love her, asked if I had a cleaning hair up my butt? "It hasn't really been done since 2020, so yes, it is disgusting!" was my response. Her response to that……to go sit back at her desk- SMH. She did vacuum up the dirt off the rug from one of the shelves I cleaned off. OHHHHH! So helpful-lol! I did hand M the swifter and told her to dust the hanging items and the equipment. She did that but not the big equipment. Does no one see stuff that needs done? If I walked into a store that was as dirty as ours was, I would think hard about going back. I don't expect it to be hospital clean or deep cleaned in the Spring time, but I would like to hear folks say how clean it is. With the shelf cleaning, I got rid of a bunch of obsolete blades, making room for storage of other items. Just remembered I haven't done the Toro blade shelf yet. Anyway, I got dirty but the shop is looking much better!
Melanie and Michele- Thank you about my eyes. I had just said that to M when I saw the picture. Wow! They really are blue and sparkly. Thank you!
Mo- You should have my address. Check your messages. If not, check your mail as your card went out on Wednesday.
Rebecca and Rita- Looking good Ladies!
Margaret and Melanie- Love the sleigh pictures. I rode horses and have been on trail rides, but have never been in a horse drawn carriage. Maybe they will be out when we go to Indiana with friends in 2 weeks. If so I am going to suggest a ride. Have been going there for 40 years and have never been in the carriage. Thank you!
I have been trying to post this since yesterday morning, but hadn't gotten there. So I am going to post before Cali decides to type for me.
I LOVE the support and caring from all of you!
You are right….when someone doesn't post for a while we get concerned. I will do better!
Need to get my day started. Slept in until 630. Towels just finished tumbling, still have some chores to do, then more Christmas movies and cards.

My brother and his wife are in Malta for their anniversary. (I didn't know about it) She sent me some pics to show me that my bruv is eating almost normally now. :-)
They got back this morning, and we are trying to arrange a visit from them. If it's more than a day's visit it will have to be January, as I can't get my head around overnight visitors at the moment. I hope they can make it in December. We don't exchange gifts nowadays. I can manage a lunch!
So happy and relieved for my brother.
Edie coming in an hour.

Kylia, dear heart - Just reading all that made me tired. I've realized though, that much of my love for this place is because I was constantly in motion in the years before, moving to different countries, traveling all over the US, and that's why I don't mind sitting still now. I think you should do what makes you happy as long as you can keep doing it. I am genuinely in love with my life and how it is right now, and part of that love is watching the seasons turn and building routines that make me happy that are fully in my control. What will it take to let you fall in love with yours?
Rebecca - It's really hard to explain to people that haven't done it what it's like when the food noise goes away, isn't it? I liken it to fish swimming around in water. Food is the world that we live in - we're inundated with commercials for it, shows about it, ads for it, articles about it. Being able to ignore that for a week at a time is an amazing thing. My experience with it:
I got six months, almost to the day, after the gastric bypass, with zero appetite. There's a reason they call that "the honeymoon period." I literally forgot to eat some days. But after that, the food noise came back with a roar. But because my stomach was only about as big as an egg, it kept me from eating too much.
Unfortunately, what I learned from that restriction was to graze, small amounts of food all day. I went back up to 219 pounds (no idea why that specific number) three different times, then was able to get my weight back down. The last time, of course, it was because of the Crohn's. Now that I'm feeling good, my food noise kicks in about 10:30 or 11 a.m. and keeps going until I fall asleep. Frustrating.
Apparently, quite a few those who've had the surgery since 2015 are now using the GLP-1 shots, as well. I understand why they would! Getting your appetite turned back off is very attractive. And once you've done one major thing that affects the rest of your life, it doesn't seem like such a stretch to do one more, I would think.
Knowing that you can never stop without a very high risk of gaining the weight right back seems to be the key, and Rebecca, you've already noted that you're aware of that.
We all do talk about what it takes to get and keep weight off. Jus within this relatively small group of women, we have a tremendous number of paths to do that, and GLP-1s are becoming one of those paths. Allie led the way, and now Rebecca is using it quite successfully.
Oh - and Rebecca, thank you so much for the card, dear heart. If I sent them, I'd send you one back. 🥰 Just sending lots of love from the middle of the country.
Heather - Well done to Edie on her personal best in swimming! Enjoy today's visit. I'm so pleased that all your grands love being with you and around you as much as possible. Such a wonderful decision you made, moving closer.
Corey is enjoying his last day off before heading back to work. This was Egg's opinion of having him home all day every day:
I did get in touch with Kim on Thanksgiving, and I don't think she'd mind too much if I let you know that her mom broke her wrist and pelvis and Kim spent Thanksgiving Day with her in the hospital.
By now, if she's doing OK, they've moved her to inpatient rehab, which will be a six to 12-week stay. Her mom's mid-90s, and has been determined to live alone.
Kim's made arrangements with family members to come in and take turns spending time with their mother/grandmother so she isn't supporting the burden alone.
Things are much quieter here. Cold, cold, but not getting the snow that slammed into Chicago and that area. Lots of rain all day yesterday, but today and tomorrow is dry and barely getting above freezing. They're calling for snow for us on Friday, but showing the temperature as well above freezing, so that doesn't compute.
Off to my doings, such as they are. I love my husband more than life itself, but I'm really going to enjoy having my house to myself tomorrow!
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in frozen Arkansas7 -
