So some major news in our household! We got an email from the management company saying we have 90 days to vacate the rental home. Evidently the owner wants to sell this property. Oh bugger! We have already been looking and put in a request to view a 2 bed, 2 bath 1270 sq ft rental home in a 55+ neighborhood, so we'll see. Fingers crossed! Why they couldn't have waited to send that darn email until after Christmas! But ah well! We were to get our new washer and dryer tomorrow, so with the place we have our eye on already with a washer and dryer,we called Home Depot and cancelled it. Then husband went down there to sign the paperwork terminating that. We still need to chat with overseas son to see if its ok to put his stuff in storage. And how to pack his LEGO's! Thinking just zillions of zip lock bags and then the sets in peanuts. I have eaten 1500 calories today. I had an unscheduled bagel with two slices of cheese, a squirt of mayo and sliced tomatoes. Then I raided the candy car of the clusters. I logged everything though.

Rebecca - Oh dear! As you say, you don't need major stress before Christmas! My hugest sympathies. But it all will probably work out for the best in the end. Much love to you. 💗
I woke up early, worrying about the savings bank transfer I've got to make for the cruise. I did my exercises, and then set about the transfer. Of course, I couldn't get the password right! After several goes, I'm locked out, so I've got to ring them after 8 am. I know what I did wrong, one digit, but I'm not allowed another go. Boo!
I hate all this bank business! Even after the money is in my personal bank account, I've still got to transfer it to our joint account. Sometimes you have to do that in stages.
Absolutely nothing compared to Rebecca's situation, but, as we say over here, I can still get my knickers in a twist.
We still have minor problems with the heating system. The timer/thermostat connection switches off randomly at around 8 am, and I have to switch it back on. Weary signals. I will notify our guy, but John is fed up with paying out money after the new boiler, and now the cruise.
Love to all. Thinking of so many of you. Kim is on my mind.

Our fruit! Cherries, pears and apples.
Our lime tree and mandarin tree are also blooming.
But our lemon tree is not doing well.

Rebbeca,as I would say sh-t and fiddidle hoppers..I must say ,I live in a 55 + and I stick to myself but have a core group of friends here.
My place is ADA compliant ,so larger doors, smoke detectors and sprinkler system
Good luck and im sure it will all work out.. Siri woke me up at 12:30 this morning and its almost 5 and im awake ugh

Rang the savings bank, they answered straight away, and a very sweet young man sorted it all out for me. He made the transfer on the phone, and I have since moved it over to our joint account. Phew! It's Saga savings, so they must be used to dealing with confused people! I wasn't confused, 😝 but I had got a date wrong by one digit. Money has always scared me.
Next week I will ring the cruise people to pay. I hope John manages to get his money transferred over by then.
Now to wash my hair.

Sorry to hear that, but at least you've got 90 days.
I hope you're able to get the place you've requested to see.

Lisa - I wholeheartedly agree with cutting things out not working, except Coke, I need to cut it out completely again. I just crave it too much.
Congratulations on the paid subscription! I love your articles I’ve read, I am behind right now. 😢 I’m behind on everything it seems.Machka - I need to do one of those deep clean days. It doesn’t take long to do it here, but I’m so busy with other things I find it hard to do.
Lanette - My craft room still has a lot of my things in it. There is nothing else I can do at this point about it. I just need more house, more time and more money to do it all with.
I’m making it work though.Heather - I love your portrait, I have never attempted one, great job!
Carla - sorry you have to move with such a small time left to go. Hope it isn’t as bad as you expect. Good luck with the surgery.
Melanie - I love reading about your veterinary experiences. I’m in awe, the thoughts of sticking my hand in any animal makes me tremble..
Thanks for the tip on where you get your mail. I’ve driven up that way a few times so now I can imagine it better.Barbie - I love the penguin.
Allie - I’m so happy to read you are getting some resources.
Rebecca - what a time to serve that notice. I hope you find exactly what you need in a price you can afford.
It is currently 5:30 am I have been awake for an hour catching up with you ladies instead of sleeping.Too much on my mind I think.
Today is MIL’s birthday, she is 81. Brodey, Kaitlyn, Rodger and I are taking her out for supper.
I wanted to do something here at home for her, but she has a doctors appointment and with competing schedules this is what worked best.I had an unpleasant conversation with the granddaughter last night. If I could trust what I say to her would stay with her I would be more open.
MIL hasn’t told them anything and everything we’ve learned and she also hasn’t explained why she chose to stay here. Apparently the whole “house being foreclosed” isn’t enough of a reason. She thinks there is something
Fishy going on because her grandmother wouldn’t leave her like that. I do feel sorry that her rock was taken from her so abruptly with no opportunity to say goodbye but what she fails to understand or see is that we aren’t blaming her for anything it’s mostly her mother. I believe that if it had been her and her grandmother alone they would have made it work.
I don’t know if MIL will talk to her at some point or not, she tends to keep quiet about things.
I can see how easily this money disaster all occurred as she tries to give me money for everything. She doesn’t like change so keeps giving it to me, she wanted to help with groceries so gave me $60. If I’m not careful what I say she reaches for her wallet. I’m forever telling her I don’t need or want her money. I also have to tell her I can buy my own things. She can’t afford her generosity. She sent them all money for Christmas on the weekend and they have it all spent I guess.
I should try to get a bit more sleep. It’s currently 545 and my alarm goes off at 715.
Have a great day

Yes, they've been moving me for years. I wish they'd just leave me at home and leave me alone! But no such luck. I'd get so much more work done if I could work from home but the company/district line is that they "don't let anyone work from home". Which is BS because the people in the building I worked in for the last four months regularly left and said, "I'm working the rest of the day from home." I never said anything, but always thought, "I thought that wasn't allowed."??? I guess it's allowed per department and the Sped department doesn't "allow" it. Too bad for me.
Yesterday wasn't half-bad. Very quiet. Actually got quite a bit done for a first day. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
TWO SLEEPS! EEEEEE!

😱 Rebecca, having to move is a terrible shock. I know your family is more minimal in your possessions, but it's still a big job, especially with your son not there to take care of his precious possessions. I know you will care for his things.
😀 Allie, glad to hear that you are getting some help.
😀 Heather, money things stress me, too. Having help from the bank was so fortunate. The portrait of Edie is a great beginning to a new talent for you.
😀 Tracey, Happy birthday to your MIL. She is so fortunate to have you in her corner.
🌻 I bought new winter shoes. They came on Saturday and I love them. I thought about buying a second pair so I'd be sure to have them when these wear out, and on Monday I got an email about a cyber Monday discount so I ordered another pair. I have been frustrated often in the past by liking something and when I wanted another one, they'd been discontinued. My wardrobe is small. These shoes will be the ones I wear all day every day for many months. The new shoes are black and are warmer and have better tread than the old ones. The old ones were great but they were light blue and always looked dirty from wearing them in the wet fields with the dogs.

Heather - Well done on getting the money thing sorted out. Sounds like their customer service is top notch.
Allie - So glad you are getting the help you need.
Rebecca - That was some seriously awful timing, dear heart. Ninety days does give you a lot of wiggle room, though. I'm not sure, with the switchover to the new month, if I ever congratulated you on getting past the Onederland mark. Well done! Hopefully you can find a place that's even better for you and Lee and your son. Do you want to stay on Whidbey? This does open the thought of moving elsewhere completely. Is there a better place you would all like to move?
Regarding Kim - I check in with her once a day or so, but don't want to tug on her shirt too much. The stresses are, I'm sure, overwhelming at the moment. Keep a good thought for her.
Tracey - It's definitely a good thought to keep that opinion to yourself, because it would go right back to the girl's mother, and wouldn't help anything. I have found that people who are involved in something sketchy are absolutely sure that everyone else is even sketchier than they are. It's a worldview that you can't puncture and won't change, unfortunately. Holidays also push people's buttons, I'm afraid. I think of you often - family drama is extraordinarily stressful. Lots of deep breaths, and grab a few quiet minutes wherever you can. Happy birthday to your little MIL…
Still looking for that flowing fabric for the circle wrap - but it's also 30 percent off all fabric at Hobby Lobby this week, and I might just stop in and pick up a couple yards to play with. Feels like cheating, but would also be less stressful than tearing apart my entire sewing room. I'll think about it while I drive into town.
Need to pick up some chicken at Sam's Club, and Hobby Lobby is just down the road. Plus I need to stop and get a couple fresh things - I've got a large Walmart delivery ordered, but I don't let them pick out my veggies - I've seen their shoppers in the fruit and veg section, and they are not selective in any way!
Time to get moving!
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR5 -
All shall be well.💖. I have decided to wrap up Christmas except the tree, with red apples, tree skirt, and jewelry tree. Everything else I will stow away. Husband getting boxes so we can start wrapping up sons Legos. Hopefully we hear from the management company for the new place we want. This is the first time we have ever had to move because of what they want to to. Most of the time it was because we were transferring etc.
I hope your banking issues get sorted!

I do like the idea of a smaller place to keep clean, and being on one level. Its 1270 sq ft not 2398 sq ft like this place.
Rebecca Whidbey Wa

Oh yes still on Whidbey. Its nice being 2 hrs from husbands yearly liver doc, plus all the advantages of the base here. This new place we're eyeballing is maybe 5 miles closer to base and away from our old house here. Fingers crossed. Today we start packing up eldest sons Legos and things for his storage unit.

My mom gave me a bread maker years ago and I had forgotten about it. Rediscovered it yesterday. Used it on the dough setting then finished it as a loaf of cheese bread. It does such a good job at making the dough and easy clean up. Had my son's family over as it was officially my grandsons birthday. Had the bread with ham chowder and cherry chip cupcakes so we could put a candle in one.
Today is a sprint interval training (SIT) on the stationary bike. A short but tough one.
Barbie- cute penguin
Kate- nice crew!
Tracey- I hope your MIL has a wonderful birthday. She sounds like such a generous person. Unfortunately terribly taken advantage of. I wish her a great year ahead.
Rebecca- it sounds like you are taking the move in stride. I too prefer a smaller house… I absolutely despise house cleaning. We are at 1500 square feet per 2 levels and that is plenty enough room. I think I could actually live in one of those micro homes. The only thing I would really miss would be my downstairs workout area. But just imagine- the whole crew could not fit inside for meals which would really cut down on cooking for me 🤷🏻♀️
Take care of yourselves 💕

My typical breakfast. Oats (museli) with ground flax seeds and loads of berries, usually blueberries, but sometimes strawberries. So yummy!

So, after lunch, just while I was watching the news, I got a text from the doctors. My MSK appointment on Friday has been cancelled, due to illness, and they have no prospect of the clinic reopening. 😖 They sent a link for me to self refer. Last time I self referred, it took a year to get back to me, by which time I'd had both hip operations.
I filled in the self referral form, which was pages long, and asked all kinds of crazy questions. Then I rang the doctor's surgery and explained my predicament. The receptionist was able to book me an appointment on this Sunday morning at a medical centre two miles away! Result! I'm hoping they will be able to book me an X Ray ASAP.
I thanked her profusely, but I was pretty mad. You have to be so proactive these days.
So , I'm having the afternoon off and have sent John to pick up Bea on his own. My son can't bring us home this evening, so it would be an Uber. John is happy to walk. It's a big struggle for me, and I'm seeing her on Sunday afternoon, when she's coming to finish her bottle.
I calmed down a bit after chatting to G, who has also had to be proactive with the test results from the hospital. We are lunching together tomorrow. 🤩

We will pay for movers to get the heavy stuff. Today putting away Christmas a bit. Kind of bummed!
We went to the gym though. Did a drive by, its definitely a lot smaller!
Hoping to get a peek inside soon!

Oh Rebecca. I'm so sorry. But why put Christmas away already? Won't you have plenty of time after Christmas to box it up? I hate to see you deprive yourself of that bit of seasonal joy.

Barbie – fortunately, there aren’t very many times that Jess and I are in the kitchen together. For the most part, when she’s cooking I just stay out of her way. But T was different. I wanted to help Vince as much as possible, I just didn’t feel I could depend on Jess to help him even tho she said she would (one time she was just playing games on her computer, another time she took a nap)so I wanted to get things done in advance so I didn’t have to spend hours in the kitchen. Well, it’s all working out.
Jess just called to ask Vince if he would go to a concert with C today. Really, I don’t think he wanted to and J didn’t want to, but he is going
Mo – that was so sweet of you to send Pip that dog! What a thoughtful thing to do
Lanette – how scary for T
Allie – every Christmas day my husband has to watch Christmas Story. I like it, but I really don’t care for it 3 times in arow...lol
Rebecca – here are the hippo slippers. I do have to say that they are very warm. Congrats on Onderland
Like Lisa – been cold here, too. Some days a cold rain (like today)
Barney has an irritated area on his upper back and J is trying to get it resolved. She’s gotten him a sweater to keep him from chewing at the site, and somehow (we have no idea how) he got it off and we can’t find it. Then she bought him “pajamas”. This morning I saw that he got the top part off. He really doesn’t like clothing on him, I guess it makes him feel weird.
Speaking of pierogi – I need to get the cheese. We were going to get it tonight after ceramics, but it looks like ceramics isn’t going to happen, that is, unless Jess gets home early and we go
Rita – what kind of facial cream do you use? I use L’Oreal Revitalift. Do you use it all the time, or just in dry weather?
Margaret – it’s weird but ever since Covid, I’ve had this urge to constantly drink water (or tea in winter). I usually have 26oz of water while I’m getting ready for work (along with something to eat)
Lisa – thanks for telling us about Kim. Next time you talk to her, tell her she’s being thought of
Kim – so sorry about your mom
barbie – lately, when I’m walking Ganon, I’ve been listening to Audiobooks. Thanks for the Cat in the Stacks recommendation
I think all of the Christmas decorations are done. When it warms up a bit, I’ll go out and take pics and post them here.
Denise called for T and we got to speak to PJ. Ken & lynette came over for dinner. You know, Lynette just picks at her food. In a way, it kind-of hurts. I cook and she just picks and picks. Oh well…..
Melanie – Jess has to have the rabies vaccine. I remember taking her for the series when she worked for New Bolton Center. Went to her office Sunday, I know she wanted to show it to us. I did think they’d have more animals there, but she said that they couldn’t have animals without a vet there and there hasn’t been one at the place since February.
Katie – good looking bunch
Rebecca – oh no! Wish they’d waited until after Christmas. I would be majorly bummed, too.
Trying to think of a housewarming gift for Ken & Lynette. I’m thinking that maybe a personalized doormat.
Better go take Ganon for a walk

Finally catching up- Spent pretty much the last few days in bed. Spoke to soon about the tooth pain being manageable on Saturday evening. Woke up at 3:30AM pain so much worse, swelling worse- laid with an ice pack until the pain meds kicked in. 9am on Sunday morning I text my dentist to have him call in meds for me-pain meds of my own instead of using what we had here and antibiotics. He called me and did order them. DH went over that afternoon to pick them up-he was out with his friend for lunch and then messed around here before finally getting them at 3. Dentist is closed on Mondays so I wanted meds as soon as possible. Swelling isn't quite as bad this morning and the pain is managed with the Norco. Have an appointment at 2. Still not sure if it is molar or wisdom tooth.
Haven't been hungry the past few days. Forcing myself to eat to take meds- I didn't the first time and felt sick for quite a while after that. Oatmeal for dinner last night was good.
Kim- sorry your mom is having issues. Talk to them about hospice- we found out there are two kinds of it. One is comfort care hospice and the other is end of life hospice. We used both with my MIL. It really was a huge help.
Now to finish reading the last page.
Debbie

Flea - that curry looks delicious. Are those peanuts I see? Like your oatmeal too. You are giving me all kinds of ideas, thanks.
Mo - thank you for the laugh at the golden dealing with the carolers. My Rosie would have "sung" right along with them, lol.
Barbie - fancy Christmas decoration! So far I'm the winner in the decorating contest on my road with garland wrapped around the mailbox post and a wreath on the garage. Waiting for the other neighbors to show me up. Update - they are busy right now.
Rebecca - what a surprise. Thank goodness you have 90 days to get it sorted. That 55+ house sounds interesting! To your credit you are such a minimalist, other than DS's Legos and favorite items, your packing should be easy as other ladies have mentioned.
Michele - your pierogis sound so good. The folks in the little town where our farm was located were primarily Polish heritage. Every year, the town ladies would come together and have a huge pierogi making "party". I was never invited, they probably didn't want them turning into something Italian like tortellini, lol.
Melanie - WA State requires pets to be vaccinated for rabies every 3 years. When we lived on the farm, the barn cats would often bring dead bats to show us - at the time, I had no idea that bats were the primary rabies carriers. All the barn cats got rabies vaccinations when they were kittens and were neutered, but after that, they were on their own. In 1995 a child in WA State died from rabies = bat bite, and in 1997 a WA man also was diagnosed with bat-caused rabies. No report of his death. Happy Birthday to your little fella, so nice they live close. Reminds me so much of my grandparents who had the farm next door when I was a kid, they were there for everything.
Debbie - hope that tooth gets taken care of quickly, I can imagine the pain. Sounds like a fierce infection.
Heather - sorry to hear about the continuing boiler troubles. Glad you got the bank transfer sorted out.
Anymore, I dread this financial stuff when there are hiccups. Had another incident with my credit union yesterday. Again. This is the 3rd this year. After many years of walking into the branch and interacting with the same employees and having business easily and quickly taken care of, it seems these days, it's mostly staffed with new employees haven't been trained properly. They are either doing things incorrectly or giving the customers (like me) the wrong advice. I need to contact their training division and volunteer to be the old lady that comes in with situations for the newbies to handle. 😁 By the end of the day yesterday, the manager I was continually interacting with via email probably resigned and applied for a job at Panda Express, lol. I was kind and professional, but direct. Welcome to the world of management and having to put out fires caused by other departments. I felt sorry for her.
Collette was here this morning, and I told Rosie let's try hard to keep the place looking nice for a few days.

This is two hours long, so quite a commitment, but Dr. Willett is a Harvard nutritionist and is just so reasonable. They just go down the list of everything nutrition, fiber, veg, protein, etc. they are also both so calmly spoken, listening to them made me super chill. Lol
