that looks really good- Thanks for posting. Reminded me that I have some premade lentils that I can warm up for dinner tonight. DH wants steak and rice. Not a big fan of steak and for sure not today.
I may take a little of his rice to mix in with my lentils- He has to have Japanese sticky rice and that is my least favorite of any rice.Debbie

Michelle, I use L’Oréal Revitalist also, but prefer RoC. I use the Derm correction Firming Serum Stick with Advanced Retinol, plus RoC night time cream and also day cream. The Firming Serum stick is something new, but works for me. I use the serum twice a day then top with the appropriate cream. I prefer using the same brand. I tried Revitalist, but don’t think it works as well as RoC. Walmart carries both and the price is about the same. I use both every day. The desert is very dry so need it all the time. I’ve only been using it for the past year and love the results.
Bought some cute Christmas earrings to help me with my determination to enjoy the Holidays. My son calls almost every day and is celebrating 50 days clean today. I congratulated him profusely to boost his ego. He needs all he can get in this process. My DH is very depressed. The holidays are worse for him because his 2 girls have not called him or visited him since the first 5 years of us being together. We are on 32 years together this year. AND most of my family stays in touch with me. That really bothers him. We have the name and address of his oldest daughter and I’ve reached out to her for him, but she replied for me not to ever contact her again. I wish I know what happened between them.
Enough of this depressing talk. Lucy is doing great. I’m sorry I talk about her like my child, but she almost takes the place of my children. Reminds me of the kids when they were small!

Tomorrow we hope to have a viewing with 2, 4 bedroom homes, and son can still live with us when he gets out of the Navy, help with rent, and his stuff can stay with us, and not in a storage unit.

Yep I am hoping. Its not as bad as it could be, we still have a bit until we are told to move. I have been getting rid of stuff left and right!.lol

We are now looking at 2 of the larger homes, and hope to view them tomorrow. Son wants to stay "a unit", and has no problem helping with the rent. Financially it will be better for us. The sons stuff can just be put in his room. It will be 4 years until he gets out of the Navy now.

I have the tree, its not too bad. I have started my purge of this house, taking all the pictures off the walls already.

Lisa - thank you, the drama is much more than I like dealing with. Rodger and I actually did get a chance to talk alone tonight on the way to dinner, it’s good that we are on the same page. It’s just a shame I have to do most of the communicating. I guess it’s fair since I didn’t tell him I was bringing her home with me until 3 hours after the ticket was booked. 😂 I didn’t give him much choice or say in the matter.
Rebecca - I hope you get the place you want. I’m with Flea you wouldn’t be moving until after Christmas so I would keep it up.
Melanie - we currently live in 720sq ft. I honestly don’t know if I could go smaller and really wish we had at least one more room.
Heather- the healthcare system seems to be in distress everywhere.
Debbie - I hope you received some help at the dentist.
Lanette - the rules here with banks have changed so much that things you used to be able to do you can’t now.
All of this online stuff has made customer service miserable. I think the only ones that really like it are the scammers and thieves.Rita - I’m sorry for your DH, that has to be difficult.
My MIL had a good birthday. When Kaitlyn, Brodey and her were waiting at the truck stop for us a man overheard Kaitlyn say it was her birthday. He went and bought her three scratch tickets and brought them back to the table for her. She said, “he didn’t know me from a crossroad in Ireland, it was awfully nice of him. Before we left the restaurant she knew his name and that he’s a regular so she can let him know if she wins anything.
Brodey bought our dinner too, which wasn’t expected but for sure appreciated.I’m off to bed.
Have a great night7 -
Hi Everyone!
Rebecca, I am so sorry they are doing this to you. They are basically giving you only 90 days to find the right place, pack up your house, and move during the holiday season. They are a bunch of scrooges. I am packing up my house, and it does take time. I am so glad you cancelled your order for a washer and dryer. If you did get one, it would be going with me.
Congrats, Lisa, on your paid subscriber!
Heather, I hate handling that stuff.
Carla, are they making you move around at work? They should help you move.
Tracey, you sound like you need to rest. Take it easy and don't overdo it.
Flea, the soup, and the black beans and rice look good.
Lanette, have you ever posted a picture of Rosie?
Carol, how are you doing?
Well, sorry, I have to leave abruptly, but my head is hurting again, so I need to lie down.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi, it is very cold today.

You could consider moving closer to your grandchildren. 👨👩👦👦
You've got 3 months before you have to move. Christmas is in less than a month. I'd leave Christmas where it is, and pack other stuff.

Yes, we're 1540 sq feet including our garage which we've turned into a gym — all one level which is lovely. We don't have a basement - few houses here do.
Our place is a nice size because it's not huge, so there isn't a lot to clean, but it is designed so that it uses space well.
We've gotten rid of a number of things and are continuing to do so. Makes the place look a little more spacious.
I used to think I wanted a big place, but not anymore.

Oh Good Lord Rebecca! I can't even imagine... 90 days! I've thought about purging to reduce in size too, but not in 90 days! You have such a positive attitude about it. God Bless. I wouldn't put Christmas away just yet. It gives you joy and you need that right now. I'm sure you'll find the perfect place.
One more sleep! The left eye prep has begun!
Love and Blessings

Morning, kidlings,
Found this lovely, warm shirt for Corey at Sam's Club for just $18, and I'm going to pop back up there and get him another, as he would like another one to keep at work for the winter. They call it a shacket, or shirt jacket. Personally, I would have called it a jack-shirt, but nobody asked me. 😂
I don't buy him clothes usually, but this year is an exception. He doesn't buy much for himself ever, and with that fluffy faux-"sherpa" lining, I knew he would love it. I'm more than happy to pop up and get him another one.
Sam's runs out of stuff like this fast, so I'm headed up as soon as they're open. Well worth doing to keep him warm. Like me, he's feeling the cold more as the years run by.
And speaking of years running - some wonderful news coming out of the medical arena - If you've ever had the "Shingrix" shot and booster, the vaccination for shingles, you may have given yourself a step up in avoiding dementia among other things : Another site said that:
People with dementia who’ve gotten the shingles vaccine live longer than those who haven’t received the vaccine…
Vaccination also appears to slow disease progression in those already diagnosed with dementia.
The benefits are especially pronounced in women.
It was a big enough study that there's quite a bit of legitimate information coming out of it. I had it some years back, and am even more glad now that I did. One of my old bosses had shingles, and it seemed horribly painful, bless her. Well worth avoiding that with just a shot. Now come to find out it was the right decision for lots of other reasons!
Rebecca - I get it, it was always a control thing for me. Every time I found out for sure that I was going, I started packing. That means when it's time, the jump to the new place is always easier. Always made me feel better to take things off the walls, too. Moving is hard enough without having to pack everything in a hurry. You do you, girlie.
Kim news: She's doing better, after a couple of hiccups, got her mom settled into the rehab place, and life will hopefully settle down into something resembling a routine soon.
Been doodling, I need to get moving!
Love y'all,
Later,
Lisa in Arkansas - starting to warm back up tomorrow, in the 50s all next week! (10s C)8 -
I got the acceptance letter for the new supplemental plan with Medicare. In the middle of enrollment they dropped silver sneakers. I am staying with this insurance for now. I know the clinic I go to is in Network. The Y is considering a reduced fee for those that lost our silver sneakers due to this sudden change.
Rather than say our health care system is a mess I would say why aren't we asking why so many people have chronic illnesses and the drugs being used to treat them are hundreds of not thousands a month.
When I looked into the different plans as part of the application process they asked how much health care do I think I need for next year. They had low, medium, and high. For those my age four prescriptions a year was considered low. Right now I am on none and there was no box to check none.
I have been on the mindset for sometime now that the buck stops with me with my health. In the past five years I have assessed my lifestyle and my relationships. I can no longer afford to eat poorly, overly expose myself to toxins, relationships that appear to be one way.
One of the you tube video I watched said it is important to protect your peace. As I get into situations that rattle that peace I am still learning to take a step back and think what is the best next step.

Amazingly crazy is the Navy usually schedules most moves/transfers during the holidays. So sadly I think we have moved about 5 times during either Thanksgiving or Christmas months.

"I have been on the mindset for sometime now that the buck stops with me with my health. In the past five years I have assessed my lifestyle and my relationships. I can no longer afford to eat poorly, overly expose myself to toxins, relationships that appear to be one way." Couldn't agree more!! It's not about fitting into a certain size but about living whatever years I have left being mobile and strong. I recently was speaking with a neighbour who asked why I enjoy riding my bike. She said- ew, too painful. I thought- you don't know what you’re missing!

Too late, most is packed back up already😁😂! I do still have the sad little tree with apples, so its not all up!
Fingers crossed we get some more appointments to look at the 4 bedroom homes on the island. Talked with son (his carrier is in Guam) and he has no problem with us all still being a unit. He gets a place to store Legos, and his truck that he hopefully gets back in early spring when he transfers stateside. We get help with rent. Its really a win win for all of us.

Picture of some of the boys running in for their daily ration of grain:
Made my list of to dos today and it's a little long. Where does the day go?!
Flea- I thought the berries were beans! Berries much more appetizing.
Heather- your health care system sounds much like our Canadian system. I am being "interviewed" on Dec 24 for a position with a new family physician. What the heck?!?!
Michele- we can't keep a winter coat on Stormi. She has gotten out of 2 (like Houdini) and hidden them.
I was vaccinated for rabies my first year of veterinary school. The government checks my titres every 2 years. Haven't needed a booster dose yet. Sounds like the veterinary shortage is present in your area as well. It is at a level here now that is becoming an animal welfare issue.Debbie- hope your tooth pain is getting better.
Lanette- I am very grateful having my grandkids so close.
Every horse on our place is vaccinated for rabies. Some sales require it. Lots of hand in mouth when bridling. Dogs are as well but we can't catch the barn cats. Too wild. Wish I could give them an oral vaccine.
I like being direct as well. I do a lot of customer service type calls in my role. Sometimes get yelled at. I have been trained to listen and empathize. I goes a long way.Take care of yourselves 💕

Sadly most places once you look at it, get approved, then the lease of course starts, so we can't afford paying on two places, along with utilities. So this process goes quickly once you submit things. I have moved this being maybe #30 move, and once I know we're moving I go into a mode. This mode doesn't care if its Christmas time. I wouldnt be able to enjoy most of the decorations this year, my mind thinking, "I need to take it all down now"! I know I am an odd bird. 🙄😂
Regarding moving closer to son and grandkids, rent is terrible the closer you get to Portland Oregon. They live across the river that separates Oregon from Washington, in Vancouver Wa. We like having access to our on base services, pharmacy, clinic, gym, and commissary. There's a lot of pluses. Athena did call me on her watch to ask me if we were moving there. I told her sorry no, we needed to be close to Grandpa's doctor, (which is true). She wasn't too broken up about it, and we chatted about her fun school day.👍🏼

Rita - so happy your son is doing well. Prayers answered. Sorry to hear about your DH's depression over estrangement from his kids. His kids will probably realize when they are his age how much it hurt him. Lucy is a great kid, absolutely!
Tracey - What a nice birthday for MIL. So cool that fella bought her scratch tickets. I might be wrong, but I bet MIL hadn't been treated this nice in a long, long time.
Rebecca - it sounds like there's a variety of houses available for you to move to. It's fun looking, hope the right one pops up.
Mo - here's rotten Rosie sitting on T's lap. I thought I had a close up photo, but am too lazy to look on the other computer, lol. Hope that headache feels better soon.
Here are Rosie's tricks after years of training. Nails it:

Had a v nice lunch with G. I went by bus, popped into M&S on the way to see if they had any Dover Sole, (they didn't), looked at earrings, and then walked down to the fish restaurant. I used my walking stick, which really does help. I'm a bit sore now, but pleased I did it. We walked back to the buses together, and I stopped off at our local butcher for pigs cheeks and gluten free sausages. Our lunch neighbour on one side was having lobster! It turns out he comes there regularly from Horsham, where I was brought up. The group on our other side were having huge plates of mussels. We had delicious hake in caper sauce. I had salad with mine. G is struggling a bit with seasonal grief and worries about her health. But we had a pleasant time of it. I just about dodged the rain on the way back.
John had to pop out just now to let DDIL into to her house, as she had forgotten her key. He got a mince pie for his good deed!
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Hello, my friends,
Rebecca, as each holiday goes by, I am packing it up—the bedding and all. I am wondering if I should pack my summer clothes too. It has been so cold lately, down to 27 degrees F. The highs will be in the mid-50s. Keep Christmas stuff out and pack it up after Christmas. I am washing DS stuff now, and I will sweep and mop our rooms. DD asked for a "Teal Christmas tree". I love Christmas. Don't pack it up now, it will take away your joy. There are so many other things to focus on in the next 3 months. Pack Christmas up on the 26th. While looking at houses, take in the decorations, too, and listen to Christmas music.
Lisa, I hope you find just what Corey needs and put some hand warmers in his stockings. Would he wear a scarf if you made it for him?
Flea, I was so tired while reading that I didn't read the description properly, and look at the oatmeal (muesli) and the blueberries. That did look yummy. My tummy loves oatmeal and blueberries. I have been craving black beans, too.
Debbie, I love sticky rice too, but I try not to eat much rice because of the arsenic it contains. My friend L sent me a large bag of rice, but I never used it. I do not know how to make sticky rice. I usually make the boiled rice in the bag or the microwave.
Lanette, I am so glad you enjoyed that clip. Teddy the golden retriever is so funny with his antics. That is why I love Rita's jokes, because laughter is so important. Now, I want you to stay inside until they catch that bear. My friend got attacked by a bear, and she was in the hospital for weeks and had some PTSD as well. She moved from CO to Wisconsin afterward.
Michelle, I love your slippers. I saw some ceramics that I want to send you as a gift, too. Email me your address, and I promise I won't stalk you.😂 Even though I did grab some recipes from your Facebook page. mcmillonmonique@gmail.com. Anyone else who wants to send their address can use my personal email.
Beth, I haven't heard from you. I hope all is well. I am curious, did you get a new mattress?
Carol, sending hugs as you navigate the task of organizing your life.
Kim, I hope you are doing well.
Kate, I love your family photo.
Heather, that pool was massive! If I had been exhausted from swimming across that pool just doing the front stroke, let alone the butterfly. What an athlete Edie is.
Melanie, I moved to Chicago from California in 1989 to live where it snows. I loved snow; it made me happy to see it. Your snow is beautiful, but I just don't know about the cold. I need to purchase some thermal underwear and snow boots, too. I hate that I threw out mine. I used to figure skate and actually sweat.
Yesterday, I had muffins, sugar-free cupcakes, and egg bites for breakfast. I froze them all. So, I can eat my egg bites when I get off from work in the am. Next time I do it, I will take pictures. Well, I need to continue packing and organizing. I have been working from home too. I will chat later.
XO,
Mo in sunny but cold Mississippi

😀 Rebecca, I understand the desire to start packing immediately. Jake and I didn't move as often as you have but we did more than most people. For our last move, Jake got a storage unit to fill with boxed stuff to make the house show better to potential buyers. Without thinking he used all the soft dog toys as padding in the boxes and the dogs got very nervous when their toys disappeared. We had to take them to Petco to choose some more toys so they didn't they were being abandoned. We've spent other pre-moving times in houses with bare walls and almost no furniture. It makes the move easier, but the wait troubling. Being close to the right medical care is very important at this stage in our lives.
😱 Lanette, Rosie's tricks look a lot like Annie's. She can sit and sometimes wait.
😀 Lisa, Jake would have liked the shirt you bought for Corey. He probably would have gotten several for himself.
😀 Michele, Another series you might like as audiobooks is by Laurie Cass featuring Eddie, the bookmobile cat. Glad you are enjoying Cat in the Stacks.
😀 My house is over 1800 square feet with a two car garage and small fenced back yard. I like the feeling of being able to spread out and allowing Annie to run back and forth. I have one room with a good bed for daughter to stay and another room without carpet on the floor where I can dance. We bought this house in 2011 when there two of us plus a cat and two big dogs. I could probably be comfortable in a smaller home but since I don't have a reason to move, there's no point in doing so. It's a manufactured house that I own and I can easily afford the space rent and utilities.

Just heard from G that she lost her new Apple phone after she left me! She asked on every bus and eventually went to the Apple shop in the shopping mall to cancel and claim on her insurance. They managed to contact someone who could trace it remotely. It was in the health food shop, and they had put it in the safe. She is now reunited with it and on her train home, shattered but relieved.
Unfortunately, she loses everything! ADHD. But this time there was a happy ending.

Deb – hope those pain meds help a lot. Look at the bright side –with tooth pain you won’t want to eat...lol. Yogurt is good too(lots of protein)
Lanette – I bought the cheese for the pierogi last night and the lady asked me if I ever have the frozen ones. My answer? “They’re not as good as homemade” Unfortunately, all anyone else will eat are the cheese. Now I’d like the sauerkraut ones. Have to ask C if he’d like that
Rita – yea for your son!!!! I’ll have to try RoC
Rebecca – sending good wishes for those homes
Margaret – my Medicare dropped Fit on Health and is now going to Silver Sneakers
Rebecca – if the lease starts as soon as you are approved, why couldn’t you just leave the old place. Yes, you’d be breaking that lease, but wouldn’t the landlord excuse this because he wants to get you out?
Barbie – I found out that my library is doing away with Hoopla and going to Libby strictly. You know, this is also good incentive to take Ganon for a walk – I want to find out what happens next...lol Thanks for the other suggestion, I’ve put it on my list of other books I want to download
Going to work on the jigsaw puzzle then wrap the gift for the ceramic christmas party this sat.
J talked some last night about when we’d have Wigilia (Polish christmas Eve) since she’ll be in Idaho with C’s family for Christmas. We were thinking the 20th but I have to lector at the church that day. Tonight I’m going to suggest that I’ll leave church early, but will she and C do that last minute cooking?
Michele NC
who hopes it's warm enough tonight to take pics of the decorations
