Christmas Challenge 2011-Chit Chat

Dang Sundays come around far too quickly !
Pleased to report that the weight continues to drop off ..... 5.2lbs loss this week - so 15lb down since i joined the challenge and 18lbs since i joined MFP the week prior.... i know the weekly losses are a lil excessive but i'm sure it will slow down as the coming months and weeks progress. However, i do have a bunch to lose so hopefully i wont see a dramatic slowdown for some time to come.
I've continued to eat healthily despite occassional cravings and have continued to exercise even though legs have felt heavy this week and some pain in my knees from the mountain biking...now up to almost a 100miles a week on the bike.. but i guess no pain, no gain..........i'll start to introduce strength training in the coming weeks.
Hope all of you are doing well - thanks for the continued support and encouragement
Jon
@wellesj - GREAT LOSS! Keep the momentum going . . .
I'm happy to report I'm down 3.9 lbs. this week. Now if I can just keep it going DOWN instead of up / down, up / down, up / down :noway: I will be happy!
Have a great Sunday everyone :flowerforyou:0 -
splackk, I don't know where you live, but definitely shop around gyms. I found one that is only $40/month per person or $60 for a couple, when most gyms around here cost $10-20 more per month! Also, most gyms have a drop in rate to come for a class & work out (mine is 65 for 10 visits), so then you only pay when you come & if you are short on cash one week, you just don't go & don't pay anything. A couple of my friends do zumba classes with me & this is how they do it instead of committing to a membership! Overall, I find that it's worth the money because running around my neighborhood & doing exercises with weights here just doesn't compare with the equipment and classes the gym offers! Congrats on being so close to your goal!
As for me, I am down 2.8 lbs, from 180 to 177.2! Very happy with this week, because my total weight loss during the challenge so far is 6 lbs, & I need to keep averaging 2 lbs per week to meet my really high goals...but I want to keep pushing myself as hard as I can to get as small as possible before Christmas! My goal for this week is to reach 175.
I've been really interested in trying out a zumba class, actually! I live in Singapore, and gym memberships are usually way more expensive here than I'd like to pay here but I've found a couple options that may just work out. Paying by use isn't something I thought of before but after looking around I've found a place relatively close that only charges a few bucks per entrance for people without membership and looks pretty good- pool and all! Thanks for the tips :flowerforyou:
Congrats on sticking to your targets too! Everyone's doing so well it's very motivational!0 -
Ok -- gained 1 lb this week. Back up to 204. So leaves me still having to lose 24 lbs by Christmas. Still having issues with water intake. Since joining MFP, the most I've had in one day was 4 glasses. I usually get that in when I exercise -- easier to drink it since I'm hot and have dry throat I guess. Still working on my diet too. I can eat a few days pretty well (after pay day) and then it's pretty much I have to eat what I've got at the house. And it's not junk food. Just much of nothing. For the next week I have cereal, oatmeal and jello. Well, I guess I can look at the bright side -- if that's all I eat and I get my exercise in I should definitely lose that 1 lb back.0
-
Splackk, that's great! I never knew they had a pay-by-day option, either! I don't think they advertise it too much because they just want you to join! I'm jealous that yours has a pool...that's one thing mine doesn't have that the more expensive ones do! You should definitely try zumba. I'm sure you would love it. It is SO much fun & so addicting. It goes by so fast that you can't believe you've been doing it for an hour. Let me know how it goes!
cds, good luck this week! I'm sure you can get back on track.
So I had quite a few calories left last night, so I had 10 pieces of candy corn & 2 candy corn pumpkins. I felt SO guilty after! I was up nearly a pound today so I'm illogically blaming it on the candy corn! I swear, I am going to resist it today so I feel like I did the best I could. I just hate having things in the house like that, but it was left over from a party!0 -
Katia-I know what you mean about the weekens, its hard for me too. family is home and afer the crazy weeks, its like the weekends are our eat whatever we feel like.....and its hard to eat healthy and not splurge.
Congrats to all those who had a loss this past week! And those who gained or didn't lose anything (like me), better luck next time, we'll get it, don't worry
I am having such a hard time getting back on track with exercise, I am so motivated to do it, but then when I get the time to do it, I start getting like my ab circle out or my workout videos and I go, "Ugh! :grumble: "
Well, I'm off for the night. Be back later. Have a good night everyone!
Here's the link again for those who may have lost it, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AikR9MNTIhNGdE8zeUMybGRCTHdrcFdfT1pBUkpwMHc&hl=en_US0 -

Nope. No issues.0 -
Wowy Zowie!!! Several of you are on fire!!! Congrats on such great successes!!! Myself unfortunately not so well. I jumped into this challenge last week, because I need to interact with a group to get me motivated again. However, my daughter is getting married this week Saturday the 15th, so I knew it was going to be difficult going in. The stress alone is getting to me, I just look at food and I feel like I am gaining. Well I weighed in Sunday and stayed the same, I am happy with that considering what I am going through right now. I am anxious for this weddng stuff to be over so that I can focus on me again. I have been terrible with logging my foods and making the right choices everyday, not to mention I only got in two workouts. My focus is helping my daughter right now along with taking care of last minute details. We are making the bouquets on Friday, and I am doing the hair for my two daughters and grand daughter!!! I am hoping for a beautiful day Saturday.
Congrats to everyone again, I love reading how you all are doing with your progress!!!! Soon I will have a positive result as well too:bigsmile:

Judy, I know I'm so happy and excited for those who have awesome weigh ins! Don't worry, the rest of us will catch up I'm working on getting motivated, I was motivated when I started this challenge and then I lost some motivation due to some issues at the homelife.
I too love reading all these posts and how there are several of you rocking it out! Keep up the great work everyone!!
Have a great night!

Everyone seems to be doing great! I only had a small loss this week, less than a pound, but it is a loss so I will take it. I'm doing more exercising and strength training so I fear that the muscles I get will cause a higher number on the scales, but if the body fat goes lower I will be thrilled. Hoping to drop 6% body fat by 12/31/11.0

Where is everyone??
Well I am totally bummed. I had a great week with food & really good workouts...yet I weigh the same as last week?!?! All this hard work for nothing?! I hit a plateau of nearly 3 weeks around 190 lbs...I'm worried that I'm hitting another plateau...really don't want that to happen! Hopefully I'll magically drop at least a little by tomorrow. I'm headed to the gym for 30 minutes of elliptical, weights, & an hour of zumba, so I hope helps a little for tomorrow!0 -
No change for me yet this week either (although will officially check tomorrow). That seems to be my pattern, no change one week then loss the next. I guess as long as it isn't up! This week was rough for me too as I've been sick all week and haven't been able to work out. Next week will be better!0

Well, it sounds like many of us had the same experience this week. Just a small loss, but I can account for mine (had a little too much fun the last couple nights). Anyway, I just want to say to all of you who are a little stuck - DON'T GIVE UP!!! Keep at it, maybe change a couple things up a little and you WILL do it!!!!
Have a great week!0 -
I'm in the same boat this week as most others, came in with .6 down this week, so not outstanding but in the right direction. I went over my calories yesterday by a good bit, so it's not unexpected either. Hopefully it'll just keep moving in the right direction, with where I'm at now I think even a half a pound loss per week is pretty good~
If I can get a full pound loss next week I'll be veeeery happy, keeping my fingers crossed and going to hope for that!0 -
Happy weigh in day everyone! Hope everyone has a good week!
I lost just under 5lbs this week! Thrilled as I wasnt expecting a loss, but tbh this week has been a busy one, and I havent logged food this week as I have been grabbing what I can, when I can,0 -
I had a major blip over the last few weeks, but have managed to remotivate myself and lost the weight I put on. Good luck to you all0

So happy, down 6.5 lbs so far with the Christmas Challenge. It really keeps me motivated to have to log on every week and tell all of you how much I lost or gained!
Total weight loss for 8 weeks is 18.5 lbs. Can't wait to see my body in a bathing suit next summer. YES! I am thinking of that already. I looked horrible this summer.
30 more pounds to go!0 -

Brilliant news. I love to hear such positivity to match such excellent results. You should be very proud!0 -
No gain or loss this week. I am ok with that because I had several days where I went over my calorie goal. This week is a new week and I'm planning on hitting the gym at least 4 days. Good luck everyone this week!0
-
lost another two this week. so very happy! I have determined that I cannot get a haircut till I lose seven more. This is really motivating me. :laugh:0

Well I up a pound this week . It seems I'm just going up / down, up /down and can't get off this roller coaster  . I really have no one to blame but my self. I was not motivated to hit the gym as hard as I should. Being hypothyroid totally sucks! I have to exercise, exercise, exercise or I gain no matter how much or how little I eat. UGH . . . .
Next week it's Kettle Bell Mania classes for me! I hoping this will shock my metabolism enough to start a continued weight loss again. :grumble: :grumble: :grumble:0 -
Yep, same as last week. So disappointed!!!! According to my calories & exercise, I should have lost, so i feel like I totally wasted a week! I'm off this week so I am hitting the gym every single day. Hopefully that will jump start something!
Congrats to everyone with losses! For the rest of us, hopefully next week will be better!0 -
I had a gain again this week too...Getting a little annoyed, but I also knew I would more than likely have a gain this week, esp since I was over every day but Saturday. So I can't say too much.
Congrats to all those who loss this week and next week for us who didn't lose/gain or gained will be better, I'm sure it will! Remember, this is only the beginning.0 -
Hello everyone, happy I caught up with you all I realized you were all over here! LOL
Finally getting back to losing some weight thank goodness. Now at 243.2 so my 230 goal is looking good. Still trying to keep the sweets far far away which is really hard right now!!!
Drea0 -
only down 1 pound since last week's weigh-in, but I'll take it! Especially after the drinks last night and then some late night munchies when I got home!0
-
Great job everyone!
Last week both of my grandparents passed away, so I missed weigh-in and I've only had a teensy loss since two weeks ago. It's been a long week, but I've been able to keep much better control of emotional eating and I'm ready to get back on track. My goal is still attainable, but I need to re-focus.0 -
Hello everyone. I need some support! I lost a good amount so far but I have long way to go. I fell out of my routine of eating well and and walking daily and I feel that when it gets colder I'm not going to want to walk at all. Any support may get me back on track. If anyone has any ideas that work great for them to keep them motivated I would love some input. Thanks in advance!!!!! From Mom on a mission0

On Sundays I usually don't have access to a scale in the morning so I guess I'll wait and see what I weigh tomorrow and average that and yesterday's weight. Hopefully it's down considerably because if I used yesterday's weight that shows I gained It seems I go strong for a few days, crash and burn for a day or two, repeat. The crash and burns are getting less severe and less frequent but they're still a bit too regular. I still weigh less than I did and that's what's important.
On schedule with the 30ds and c25k is going well. Just started week 4 and flew through it, despite a lot of walking still I made it 2.3 miles at an average of just over 12 minutes. I guess there's a 5k around here around thanksgiving so I just may enter!0 -

I know how you feel. I've been zigzagging as well. And I have hypothyroidism, so I can relate to that too! It's actually the main reason why I started exercising and doing this in the first place.
I went up 2 in a half pounds this week.. But it's also that time of the month. So I'm not going to beat myself up too much over it.0
