Just a little debate me and my hubby were having. He thinks is a bonafide sport, or so he says, I'm not sure he's really checking out the "plays" if you catch my drift!. I think its crap! Just another way to degrade women. What do you guys think

I'm not certain something an adult woman does on her on free will is degrading. Just my opinion.

However your hubby isn't fooling anybody. Nobody thinks it's a sport lol. It's just silly.

There is no doubt the sexiness of the women is what they are marketing. That being said, I have no doubt that those women take it seriously. I have only watched bits and pieces of a couple games, but from what I saw these women are indeed athletic.

    I agree with this.

Side note, its not as fun to watch as one might expect. That said, I still DVR it and watch when there's nothing else on. I also agree that if adult women are choosing to do it, it can't be that bad.

FYI Adult women also chose to do porn but it is still degrading.

But I do see that these women are athletic but I just think that their athleticism could have been shown without the lingerie....

Porn is a bit of a different ball park. Its my guess that most of the girls in porn are, or at least have been, deeply disturbed by something, at some point in their life. I think the girls in lingerie football are not only athletic, but are smart enough to know they can make some money off of men and how easy we are to entertain.

This...and if you have it and can use it to secure your future financially, why the heck not.

Yep! and IMO the guys that watch that smut are just as bad. I know not everyone would agree with me on that, and you have the right to disagree, but I personally would not have anything to do with a man that is into it.

Not gonna debate the merits of this.

    HOWEVER

I work out with one of the gals who plays on The Green Bay Chill, she lives in my town. She's pretty gol durned bad *kitten*. She's also HAWT. Oh, did I mention she holds a double major, one in education? Yeah, she's bad *kitten*!

My daughter is the only girl on her hockey team, our friend the football player always always always has something encouraging for her. Always helps her with her work outs when we're at the gym. Always is there for my daughter because like my daughter, in the early years, when she wanted to play the sport she loves, she had to play with the boys.

So yeah, she's cool. And I've watched her play, she's damn good.

That's my 2 cents worth from someone who actually knows one of these players.

I have no problem with the game as played, generally. Those girls seem to be playing for keeps. BUT, the name… seriously… omg aren't we past that yet? I get you need a catchy, clever name to market, but how much did they pay the guy/company that came up with that? I would want my money back.

    Awesome post hockeymom.

I can see women not agreeing with how they are dressed, but there is no valid argument regarding their talent.

Not something I would actually follow, but I definitely would never date a woman that tried to tell me I couldn't

Ya, know, I was going to just breeze on after my first post, but I have a question for all the ladies calling these athletes "slores"

Do you know any of them personally? No?

Um, how would you like it if you were called a name because of doing something you love?

Oh, wait, if it's something like volley ball, or another female-centric sport, well then all is well. But what about all the little girls who grow up loving sports that are more male based? Such as football and hockey? What are they supposed to do? Hey, if they have to dress in stupid costumes to do what they love, then some of these women do it because they LOVE THE SPORT THAT MUCH. And do it regardless of women like you who attack them without even knowing them?

How would you like it if someone called your sister/daughter/mother/cousin/friend a *kitten* or slut? Where do you get off? I know a player personally, she's neither. Women in sports that are male dominated are not taken seriously, obviously. May I point out the WNBA?

Instead of being so judgemental, why not be helpful? Why not start a grass roots movement in your town so girls who love sports like this can go on and play when they're older and out of school? Instead of calling them names? Oh yeah, let's just let all the little girls in the world worship Brittney Spears instead? Because she's doing something of substance? These women, playing on the Lingerie Football League ALL HAVE FULL TIME JOBS. Most have college educations. Some are paying for their educations from the money.

I cannot believe that you'd call someone a name like that, you don't know them. Football is a tough sport. Let's see you get out there and compete against these "slores" as you call them. I bet you'd get your butt kicked. But yeah, you can stand behind your words instead, and be holier than thou. That's so much more supportive of women. You're the type of woman my daughter, and my friend have to fight against just to something so simple as to play a sport. Thanks for setting the womens movement back 15 years.

And to the Mods, you better damn believe I attacked. But by God, when someond attacks something they HAVE NO CLUE about, and it happens to attack a friend (whether she'll see this or not) then I will stand up for my friend and for all the women like her, INCLUDING my daughter, who yes, does not play football, but plays hockey and runs into women like the "slore" monger.

not "slores", definately takes talent, it is a sport, hater are just gonna hate

if they had the body for it, maybe they wouldn't hate so much. Or maybe if they felt better and more confident they wouldn't care if their husbands seen a woman in lingerie on TV, same as a commercial

I would be out there doing it if I had the opportunity!!!!

And then my husband, your husband, and all of the other haters husband's would be watching my sexy *kitten* play some football!!!!!

reviving this topic from the dead....

tryout season is among us and i cannot wait to try out for the chicago bliss! i know i have a slim to none shot of making the team, but just saying i went out there and did it is gonna be a huge thing for me!

all the women i know who have any self confidence think the LFL is awesome! it's the women who could never pull off one of those uni's who are the haters! :)

The first time I watched was this past year when my fiance turned it on. I was like "Oh, please!" *eye roll* But then I actually started watching it. While I can see why it would appeal to guys, those girls were working hard. I say of course it's a sport. I don't see why the clothes they wear would cancel out the fact that they are playing a sport.

Let's be honest. How many people would watch this if they were dressed in long jerseys, padding, and leggings? (crickets) Alrighty then. It's all about marketing. If they were dressed like the boys, people would probably tune into the WNBA instead (more crickets). Both of which have extremely talented and athletic female players!

I have nothing against it. Live and let live. And if it's what you do to make your living, pay for your education or your family's needs, get it girl! Would I dress like that while playing football? Probably not. Because I can't pull it off? No, because my tits and asscheeks wouldn't appreciate the turf-rash

I understand that people would rather not wear such revealing clothing...im usually one of them! i am very self conscious about my body. but i look at it this way...(like you said) if i can get paid for playing a game and working out then i'm gonna do it! my bf actually looked it up and said that the average salary is about $30,000 a year...which is almost as much as im making now as a teacher! if i could make the team and make money off of playing 4 games a year and doing some appearances i'd be a super happy girl!

Hell yeah! Why not?! Good luck to you and the tryouts! Once you put on the outfit once, the second time will be much easier, the third time, a breeze, so forth and so forth!
