Is it a pill to take and lose weight and be happy? No... it's a tool.. You take it and you create good habits. If you aren't forming good habits then you will have a bad experience and you will gain that weight back and more.

I'm not a Dr. nor a weight loss specialist but I have dropped a **** ton of weight fast and getting stronger, faster, and leaner in the process. Phentermine really helped jump start that. Use it as a tool and and not an answer and it's a great product. Funny enough I've lost faster without the Phentermine but the phentermine really helped get that gym habit going. I think it's a great and wonderful short term tool if you are truly ready to lose the weight. Anyone who insults it without trying it, being on it, or understanding its use is saying it just to say they are against it. Those that tried it some have had bad experiences and I completely understand that, it's not for everyone I will say that every time. You have to be ready to change your life if you go on it. Many people aren't. Biggest problem I had was I was put on too high of a dose, but that is why my Dr. checked back with me in 1 week. We lowered my dose and I was off of it after 45 days or so. 2 weeks of weaning off after being on it a month.

If you wanted to go to the Dr. then give his advice a shot, if you didn't want the medicine or his advice why did you go? So many come on here and complain about all Dr's. If you are uncomfortable with one Dr's, go see another. If you don't want the medicines or any Dr.'s advice then why go at all? Not directing towards OP just to people in general.

I didn't see the dr for my weight. I saw him because of all of the crazy symptoms I've been having for a really long time (1.5+ years). Just because weight gain/hard to lose weight was one of the symptoms, it's ok to be put on a weight loss drug? Especially when I can run a mile and not get winded? Yes, I am overweight, but I'm healthy. I have good habits, like I mentioned earlier. Maybe I do need to eat less (which I am working on) but do I need a prescription to help me? My dr hasn't given me any advice except "Here. Take this once every morning, 30 minutes before you eat. It'll help you lose weight." That's not advice... that's an instant solution with no explanation or warning.

I took it for two days. I didn't eat half of my calorie limit. And I really didn't like the excitability and slight dizziness I had at work. My boss probably thinks I'm a whack now. I've had two thyroid panels done by two different doctors. One perfectly normal (1.5 years ago), the other slightly elevated hormone level but this doctor wrote it off because of my BC (Same dr who gave me the prescription). He's adamant that it's not hypothyroidism but will not try another, newer test or for any other possibilities.

I don't want to be put on a bunch of meds until we get the right one. I'd rather be stuck, poked, prodded, lanced, etc. until I know what the heck is wrong with me (a 22 yr old with crazy fatigue, hair loss, cold hands/feet, etc). I'm definitely going to see someone else. I just haven't found anyone yet who will keep testing.

Get the numbers on the thyroid test. My grandmother and mother are both on thyroid med's, both had to be tested multi times because the dr's kept saying the numbers were 'normal' without telling them the 'normal' range for numbers OR telling them what the numbers were coming back. Also, from what they went thru, I know that alot of times the lab doesnt do what is considered a 'full panel' ~ there is a shorter test that is relied on but as with everything else people arent 'one size fits all'.
You can also go to your local health food store and talk to someone there about an herbal supplement to help with under active thyroid. Not wal-mart, not a drug store, not GNC, a real health food store (theres only one around here that I've found, other than GNC. GNC does not carry the herbal thyroid pill). Usually along with the other things you mentioned, your 'normal' temp will be around 97.6 or lower ~ when you start taking the herbal supplement, your 'normal' temp should come up to 98.6, thats your fist sign that it is thyroid issues, and the pill is helping. You'll also notice you have more energy. At that point if you want to go back to the dr and either have them retest, or just point out what you've found out so he/she/it can put you on Rx meds thats up to you :)

Yup temp was a big indicator for me. I was trying to conceive so I was taking my bbt every morning and it was 95-96. I even bought another thermometer because I thought the first one was broken! When I added up my run down feeling, aches and pains, low temp, hair loss, super heavy periods, eyebrow loss, rough arms it all pointed to hypothyroid to me I changed doctors and got my new doctor to run a panel and then insisted upon a referral to an endocrinologist.

My adoptive mom and her mom have hypothyroidism as well as my MIL and SIL. My mom is really into all natural remedies so she's searching everything on the internet about hypothyroidism. Check out stopthethyroidmadness.com. It's helped me get an idea about what I should do but I can't find a good doctor in my area to help me figure this out.

Also, my temp runs around 97.1 during the day. I think I get close to 98 during a workout. Haven't checked it in the mornings though. I've taken DHEA to help with the fatigue and it works great. I stopped taking it though because few tests show that it increases estrogen which gives women a higher chance of getting breast cancer later on.

I didn't take Phentermine yesterday (only took it Sun and Mon) and I felt horrible. I looked drunk while going out to dinner last night. I don't drink either. I could barely eat anything last night and my husband pretty much made me eat. I looked like a little child pushing away and fighting with a parent!!! It was soo pathetic. And the mood swings. Ugh. I'm a little better today. Just glad I didn't stay on it longer. My husband officially wants me to find another doctor!!!

Los Angeles County Coroner's officials announced Wednesday that former all-pro football player turned actor and commercial pitchman Bubba Smith died of acute drug intoxication and other conditions.

The autopsy found that Smith, 66, whose body was discovered Aug. 3 by a caretaker at his Baldwin Hills home, was found to have phentermine, a weight-loss drug, in his system. Coroner's officials said he also had heart disease and high-blood pressure.

Sounds like you need your antibodies tested. That is what happened to me, all my thyroid numbers were normal except for the antibodies. My immune system was attacking my thyroid, causing all the same symptoms you are having. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's hypothyroidism. Been on my meds for a year now and what a complete difference in the way I feel.
