What's the most difficult part of dieting for you?

For me it's free food, and when said free food might get thrown away.
It makes this time of the year the most difficult when everyone is baking cookies and breads and bringing them to the office. Plus Halloween and candy everywhere.

Also, coming from an Italian family food brings us together, its culture and such.
I also love baking around the holidays and I will continue to just healthier food. =]0 -
Food in a social setting. I love my friends and coworkers and love to go out to lunches and dinners with them, but I hate eating food that I haven't prepared myself.0

for me it is avoiding alcoholic drinks. i am not a big drinker and neither do i like alcohol, however working in the office environment that i work, alot of work related socialising is done in the pub or somewhere with the alcohol flowing and it gets a tad bit boring when everyone else is drinking and you are not. even if i only have one glass of wine, it's such a total waste of calories which could be utilised elsewhere.0

i work at a Doctors office and drug reps cater restaurant food in EVERY DAY. - a heavy meal AND desert.
I have to use a lot of self control to pack my lunch and not even enter the lunch room.
and the holidays are the worst because other doctors, drug reps, facilities etc- all send us massive amounts of baked goods and treats as thank yous.
Its caused most of my weight gain. and every person I've seen start working here.. gradually gets hefty too0 -
It's the exercising. With the arthritis, it's hard to do. But I'm taking lil baby steps and pushing myself to go farther and farther.0

The conflicting information that is out there - one week eggs are the devil, the next they are the miracle food. Do have a wine its good for the heart, then don't cause it can lead to breast cancer (on GMA today). Do eat your exercise calories - Don't eat your exercise calories. For the leyman it can confuse the hell out of you!!!0

I live in a dorm, so in the dining hall, it's a free for all. Cakes, ice cream, cookies, candy, fried food, milkshakes, doughnuts, chips, it's rough =/0

drinking water, i have no problem exercising, its the drinking the 8 glasses a day, in an hour i can go 30 times and it's so annoying, i wonder if it gets better, or i get stuck going to the bathroom forever.0

Free food is a hard one for me, too! For many years I did not have a lot of money and free food was impossible to pass up. Even now that money is the issue it once was, I still have a hard time passing up anything free.
Social settings are hard too, especially going out to restaurants. I love to eat out!
But the most difficult for me is regular exercise. It's just so hard to fit into an already packed schedule.0 -
I find the first 2 week of a diet the hardest once i get over that i usually fine for 12-16ish weeks this year i started my diet 1 month ago and am going right through to april so will be tough for a couple of weeks over christmas when im not working and my routine changes, probably will allow myself 2 cheat days over the Christmas week gona be tough lol0

the food in the office kitchen is horrible... The girls here are notorious for ordering cookies, cakes, crackers, pop tarts, etc. We each have our kitchen week and they hate when I order for our week... lots of fiber and fruit. But, we get deliveries from happy clients that bring in goodies all the time...0

For me, it's when people think that since you're smaller now, you should indulge in something. When I get with my family I feel totally judged that I won't try everything. So... I usually don't go to any family house to eat.0

The most difficult part of dieting for me is avoiding foods my family loves. Pizza, especially. I generally have one slice and then follow it with a salad.0

THIS! OMG! Weekends are tough. Even after WLS, I find head hunger is the worst on weekends. I need to start keeping busy on weekends and keep the head hunger at bay.0 -

There are 4 hardest parts for me:
(1) I feel resentful of others who can stuff as much in as they want and not worry about weight or blood sugar
(2) I have to decline invitations to pot luck gatherings and the like because I don't have the self control to go and not binge
(3) I self sabotage... The minute I lose a pound, burn a bunch of calories, or even fall off the wagon just once, I have to fight myself not to say "well, I may as well eat and drink whatever I want now!"
(4) Not rewarding myself with food - that is always my "go to" reward... Wow, lost a pound?! Now I can have the 1,500 calorie cheeseburger I wanted... I'm trying to reprogram myself!0 -
Every night between 6 and bedtime, I can do so well during the day and then come home from work and want to eat everything in sight0

This is true, although it is all alcoholic beverages, not just wine. But making sure you get enough folate (either through food or supplements) can greatly reduce the risk.

Just having the proper mindset that I have to feed my body properly...lifestyle change per se. Food dictates my mood, eating clean = happy...eating processed junk = Grrrr Oh, and then every month (fun being a woman) if the cravings start to get out of control where I'm running to the carbs & chocolate. But then again, if I'm eating as clean as possible, the cravings don't get to that extent. Love how the body utilizes good nutrition.0

Staying motivated and commited for me. The first few weeks I lose alot, then I start slowing down and find it hard to handle. But this time is gonna be different, because I'm tired of starting over again.0

1. weekends.....I like to make last minute changes and don't have internet at home so I cant check MFP.
2. conferences/trainings/meetings.....never know whats on the menu and refuse to bring my own, and its FREE!
3. Chinese food ( I can't have it, all the low cal dishes suck!0 -

Now that I'm spiking if I see something I want I make a mental note. Eat that on spike day and I do:-)0
