Anyone using any diet pills to help speed up your weight loss?
I know many people have opinions about weight loss pills but i really wanna hear from people who have taken them and if it helped or not.

I went to gnc and bought a pretty expensive one called Refine. And your supposed to take it 30-60 mins before a work out. its a thermogenic, so it makes you warmer, but i don't feel it working at all. all it does is make me unable to sleep at night...

So i bought a kinda cheap one at walmart called Leptoprin. And there were good reviews on it.

Just wanna know your feedback on stuff you've tried and if it helped or failed.

The most important thing is to have your diet in check. Other than EC, there aren't many OTC "Fat Burners" that do anything but give you a bit of an energy boost

I took one in high school, don't remember the name of it... ended up being rushed to emergency as my HR went up to 220 (resting) and I was in danger of a heart attack. At 14!! imagine that!
  • Took Hydroxycut when i was 24 (i'm 31 now) lost 20 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks. I managed to keep it off by exercising and dieting after I lost (not to mention during the weight loss also). I'm 31 now went from 205 to 159 and still going without the aid of diet pills. I honestly believe they're a gimmick!

Ditto on this. I took something in high school and I had a similar reaction. I did not go to the ER, but I was pretty wired. I know a lot of women who take them and their weight goes up and down. I think that diet pills are a temporary solution. Lose the recommended amount of weight and you will be able to keep it off in the longer term.

I've taken many different brands over the years. Apple cider vinegar pills, the ones you get from Beach Body with the Turbo Jam DVDs and so many others from walmart that never really did anything. A couple would boost my energy a bit but not enough to really do anything. I kinda think they're not worth the cost, personally.

Many pills where taken off the market for this reason (ephedrine sp?). Just keep in mind that while it's monitored it's not regulated very much and pills usually have caffine in them.

Took Hydroxycut in college. Thought my heart would fall out of my chest. The old cliche is true....the only thing that gets lighter is your wallet.
  • I'm using Alli, which I've used previously to lose weight and it works. But it has to be combined with a low fat diet. There are awful side effects if you break the fat recommendation intake requirements.

I am taking Orlistat, which is a fat metaboliser, supposed to stop your body absorbing the fat in the food that you eat, I am losing steadily (but I was before too) and no side effects. I wouldn't want the ones that suppress hunger or increase your metabolism.

Take them back. GNC has a fabulous return policy. The only thing the pills will lighten in the end is your wallet.

Also, NEVER trust online reviews. There are many people out there who are paid to post positive reviews of products online, even when they have never actually used them.

This one is probably the best because it's FDA approved. I don't do any, but that's what I'd take if I did.

I might just take them back. Most the bottle is still there. And they do nothing for my fiance who's doing this diet with me. He took 2 and then fell asleep 2 hours later.

Just no. Lots of money, little to no extra weight loss, plus who the hell really knows what they're actually doing to you?

Even if it did work, would you really be happy with your weight loss if it depended on buying this pill indefinitely?

Won't lie, I'll periodically buy some cheap ones for an energy boost...meh...I don't expect them to suppress my appetite, but I do like the jolt I get to keep me going

Vitamins are FDA regulated either...jus sayin

I take Oxy Elite Pro once a week before my greatest burn of the week. Oxy is a thermo that heats you up and gets your heart rate up and keeps it up for a few hours. I take it in the morning only and the effects last about 5 hours. It will dehydrate you and its important to drink plenty of water.

Basically I use it to stay hyped up so I can burn calories for 2 hours straight. I don't need it to work out, but it does give me the boost I need to compete.

I used xantrex (bought at walmart for $20) to help me kick start my weight loss and I lost my first 50lbs with the pill. It does make u jittery if u dont eat enough and drink lots of water and I never take it for dinner only before breakfast and lunch because the caffeine will keep you awake at night. I honeslty cant say it was the pill that helped me lose the weight because I ate crazy healthy, no red meats, not past 7pm and worked out 60-90mins a day for 5 days a week however I am considering taking them again to help boost my energy levels since I work so much and give me the ummph I need to workout. Its important for you to understand theres no magic pill that if u take it ull lose weight however I think in combination with diet and exercise and takin responsible some people can benefit from them

The quote said there are side effects "IF you break the fat recommendation" .
IF. Do you know what "if" means?
I stated what those side effects would be.

Good for you for not eating too much fat while taking a stupid pill.

But it's not just "believing everything I hear". I had the pleasure of laughing my *kitten* off at a dumb chick at work who had **** running down her legs daily and had to bring 3 changes of underwear and pants to work for a WEEK before she gave up.

Besides FAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU FAT.
Restrict nuts? peanut butter? olive oil? avocados? hell no.

Have some willpower and just don't eat the damn Burger King. You don't need a scary pill to strike fear of Anal Leakage into your heart to stop you from eating the crap. Just don't put it in your mouth.

I think you can ask yourself, would i want my baby boy to take these when he's older if he were having weight problems... my guess is, your answer is going to be no, i dont want him to feel like he has to take these, i want him to be healthy, naturally. If you're answer for him is no, then it is for you. If your answer for him is, he can do what he wants, then do what you want.

You say they dont really make a difference for you, so what's the point?
  • In the UK you cannot buy them like you can in the US. I took some bought from the internet (silly and dangerous) and suffered side effects.

No judgement on using them but please be very careful, you dont need them to lose weight, no one really does, it may speed it up or allow you to relax the diet and still lose weight, it depends on if your trying to learn a new lifestyle or lose the weight as quickly as possible, whichever is the priority.

For me the moment I stopped taking them the weight went back on because I hadnt learnt my lessons in healthy eating which is whats lead me to do a plain old diet and exercise approach.

    Best wishes

I've lost 118 lbs the ol' fashioned way - through hard work, sheer will and determination to improve my life.

You don't need a pill. Don't put *kitten* like that into your body. Feed it with good food, move it about and you will get results

    Good luck

By the way - your wee one is gorgeous!! xx
  • My ob-gyn dr prescribed me phentermine 37.5, 1000 calorie per day and 150-300 minutes per week exercise, 100 gram protein life style change, and one or two is a meal replacement. I work in the operating room and our anesthesiologist is on the same program as myself, so if it's safe for him which he is a dr and he wouldn't take a medication that was not safe to use or safe in general. I have lost 25lbs. I was only on the phentermine for 2.5 months the 1st week I started the pill I lost 11lbs. I helps to see results right away that way you feel good and you start looking at the calories closer and it creates a overall life style change!

I took OxyElite Pro you get it at GNC, its cheaper at vitacost and I lost 32 lbs in 8 weeks it took away all my carb cravings and after that I lost another 30 lbs on my own so I say it works. You can only take it 8 weeks at a time also.

I have been up and down with weight my whole life and the one common denominator is diet pills. You buy them, lose some weight really fast, then stop taking them, then you gain the weight back. Sound familiar? They increase your heart rate, and you burn calories faster, but it isn't a permanent increase in your metablolism. So when you stop the pills, (which you will because they are expensive) your metabolism crashes so even if you stay on the diet the pounds come back on.
This time I have lost 50 lbs drug free with just keeping my calories down and doing cardio. It sounds boring, but it works.
