I find it funny..

We are all on here to achieve our goals.. I think it's funny how some of the people who have reached their goals act like a celebrity on here. Time to get over yourself... just sayin.

Can you give us an example?

Also, who do you think you are, posting stuff like this?

To me, the people who reached their goals ARE celebrities! I've got a bunch on my friend's list and they're the best motivators.

I've never encountered what you're talking about.

Hmm, I don't want to be Jamie Eason, though I do recall I said she is one of my inspirations. But, let me be the first to say I am no better than anyone else. Why not just balls to the wall come out and say who we are talking about here?

I find it funny when the kid hits the ball into his dad's crotch. That's so funny. Because the kid is so little and the dad is just there playing baseball with his kid.

I have seen folks -- well, maybe one folk in particular -- post repeated threads offering advice (sometimes incorrect) and encouragement along with copious amounts of photos of him/herself, and wondered if it was more about inspiring or fishing for validation and praise.

I suppose that if you have a celebrity in mind you could write to them directly rather than generalizing.

I think people who have worked hard and met thier goals are just proud of them selves. Anyone who loses weight desverves a little "rockstar" treatment. I LOVE hearing, looking at before and after pictures, and applauding MFP celebrites!

I couldn't agree more. Condescending remarks are not encouraging/motivating. For those that have achieved their goals I would prefer it if they gave me real advice and didn't talk down to me - it's a lot more beneficial.

so true...there's a fine line between being proud of your success and being prideful. i try not to do that and if i do i hope my MFP friends tell me. i know that i used to be where a lot of people are and they're walking the same journey I did. who am i to think i'm better you know?

great post. i think more people need to see this :)

You should be a celebrity 238 pounds is awesome... plus your funny... lol
  • Don't really understand why it's bad to show off the pounds you've lost. Isn't that why you are? (along with getting healthy in general) Losing weight is hard work and I think the people who really do it, deserve a pat on the back and a congrats. I don't think that means they are acting like celebs

I have seen this behavior. I don't remember her name, but all she did was post about her fabulous self and NEVER applauded anyone else for their efforts.

    DELETE fixed that situation.
