Sheila do you like turkey burgers? I know it sounds not as good as a burger but I got a big pack of Jennie-O turkey burgers from Sam's club (like a costco). I've been eating them on an whole wheat english muffin (I don't have rolls at home) with 2TBSPS of a mixture (its sour cream with taco seasoning) and onions, cheese, and slice of avocado. Mmmmm. Now I am hungry
    [/quote]

Jamie that does sound really really good.. Thanks for the idea..... I had ground turkey with whole wheat pasta a week or more ago and it was actually pretty good.. I think I will try the Turkey Burger... It's in my meal plan for the day....

I promise to stop overwhelming the board with my posts...after this one

Good job everyone on your weigh loss and drive. You all have taught me the scale is not the only way to know I am making a difference in my body! Shiela you look great in the photo! Chanty welcome back, I hope finals went well!

One final thing, I feel like I need to get this out there. Regarding posting...I am making a goal today to try and post at least once a day so I don't get behind and have to play catch up on posts. I had felt like if I couldn't take the time to read everyones posts and respond then I was not being a good part of the team. With work, we are a small family owned company and things are becoming stressful, I can't get on the internet all the time. Heck, I probably shouldn't be now, I need to keep my job. Today I decided we all have lives outside of this...Some days are crazier than others...So I hope everyone will join me in this goal, whether its a quick hello or quick note before bed. Some people already do this and it is their consistency that makes me feel like I should be able to do the same. I hope this will help us all to realize we have support through each other and we can do this!

now all I need is a mobile site and I would be golden, hehe

    Hey Team
Guess what? I finally reached my first goal of 20lbs. YAY!
I am super excited and I cant stay seated. My puppy is biting the crap out of my thigh right now (totally unrelated). Oh, now he's tearing the stuffing out of my carnival bear. Damn chihuahuas. :noway: I think I shall celebrate with Arbor Mist this morning or is it too early for alcohol on the breath

I got promoted to assistant manager a couple weeks ago at work and I am on my way to the library to print off some motivational stuff for my staff. They will need it cause its going to be a rough 10 days for our sale. GREAT CLIPS is having a 6.99 sale without a coupon starting Wednesday. I know it is going on in Michigan but I believe it is everywhere.

Ok, enough about the job today is my day off and the 1st day of the weightloss challenge in my town. I am hoping for alot of support from you guys cause Im gonna need every bit of it. I am SO nervous about meeting new people but I guess that will be interesting actually seeing and hearing people that want to lose weight too. We are suppose to wear the same outfit every week not only to keep the weights right but to watch your clothes get loser. I personally want to wear something lite and airy.

Lastly, If any of you weigh yourselves with a bra or sports bra on TAKE IT OFF! It added over half a lb to my weight. Set the ta-ta's free

Kristi, it was a really big nut!
I'm doing fantastic, I had a great visit with my parents, and took some really good pictures of my dad and Tony playing the Opry. It's just the best feeling ever seeing the two most important men in my life making good music together, it's great!!!

Tony and I worked in our yard all day yesterday, after my folks left of course, but it was so much fun! I'm paying for it today though, because my shoulders are super burnt, so much for sunscreen! I love working in the yard though, and planting flowers. We planted 3 trees yesterday, and I'm super excited about that.

I think all of the up and down action planting flowers the past few days has really messed up one of my knees, unfortunately. Right now, I'm having a really difficult time just walking around, and it's swollen about twice the size of my other knee. So, as fun as it is, I'm going to have to go back to the joint doctor. I'm a bit nervous about it, but I can't really put it off any longer I guess.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sheila, I've been meaning to tell you how proud I am of you! You're doing great with your exercising, eating, and just everything. It's great to hear! :drinker:

Lauri, the weekend was fantastic! I've got some great pictures, so I'll have to put them on my profile soon. It was super fun, and just great to visit with my parents. I miss them a lot!

I don't really care for crowds, and it seems like lately everyone is in a bad mood when I go shopping.

LMAO.. I aparently dont even have to be IN the store to piss someone off. This morning I was heading to the grocery store to get a couple things before the little ones showed up. I stopped at an insterection for a red light and was waiting for it to turn green. I was the first in line and sure enough, the second it turns GREEN this old geezer behind me blares his horn. Just  me the hell off! So... what did I do? I gave him the finger!! Well, aparently he thought he was all bad... followed me all the way to Albertsons (2 miles away) and when I pulled into a spot he stopped his car behind mine. I was FURIOUS!!!! I got out of the car and he was just glaring at me. I was like "WHAT??? What is your problem??" and he drove off over to a spot and parked, talked on his cb radio for a second, then drove off. LOL I swear, some people just have nothing better to do with thier day than to act like jerks! No way was he an undercover cop. He was driving an ugly beat up ford taurus. Man was my adrenaline pumpin after that! Dumb old fart!

I'm LMAO here... I can just see this little ole geezer, thinking he's all badass, and then all 6 foot of you get out of the car... he probly peed in his depends!!!

Wow you girls were busy posting last night and today. I should have taken last night off too - no I can't - bills must be paid.

Sheila - congratulations on the 5 miles - that is great. you really going after it with the walk and today the biking. You go girl.

Dwray - hope you enjoyed the time with your folks. I am sitting here picturing your mom and that smile of hers. By the way thanks for posting your 2 cents in a nutshell - I TOTALLY AGREE.

Renayeb - Congrats on reaching the goal. good luck with the job

Kristi- just a bad wqeekend over all in a sense - not really beating myself up - just trying to get over losing 2 pounds - gaining 6 pounds of stubborn water weight back. The scale measures hydration by sending something through you foot when you step on the pads. I can't find my paper right now to tell you what the word is - I look wherew I thought I put it - not there.

LI4G - THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION. IT HELPED SEEING ALL THAT AND I am applying it. tomatoes and cucumbers I can do . And when the water weight comes I will know what can helps. I have to tell you this also - the number on the scale does look better today - not where I want it to be but definitely not where it was.

Get_fit - Kristi and all you others talking about turkey burgers - YOU MADE ME HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!! No really they sound delicious - thanks for the suggestions I definitely will be trying them.

Jamie - I agree with you about posting. I am going to try to do it at least once a day. I just like seeing what everyone is doing and how they are doing.

Well gang, I think I am going to take another rest day today. I returned to work last night on very littlesleep yesterday. - Spent yesterday with my kids though so didn't get much exercise in. But I promise you and me I will get back on track tonight when I get up or tomorrow. I was really concentrating on getting this stubborn water weight to budge and since I over do my sodium when I eat my exercise calories - I wanted a couple days off to get it back down and then will hit the exercising with more ability of managing the sodium and pushing the water.

Thanks to all of you for being a wonderful team. Have a good day.

I was rushing so I wouldn't get caught being unproductive at work. I meant to tell you it seemed normal and ask how Lulu was doing with it. I like that you aren't eating the same thing everyday.

Happy Monday. all of my warm-hearted friends!
Thank you so much for all of the welcome notes.
I am crazy in love with this Support Group. It's not just about excellent support and advice for sensible eating, it's also comic relief at its best!
I love the story about the old geezer not quite following through on his road rage. My ex-husband did that years ago, with me in the car - following someone who upset him in traffic. I was in the passenger seat, begging him to stop following, but he persisted. Drove about 10 miles, the other car pulled into a driveway on the back road, the ex gets out, the other driver gets out...
He was the size of a mountain. Perverse pleasure for me, seeing my ex slowly slink back into the car and drive away...ha ha.

Anyway, I am feeling happy and motivated for another day. Learning so much. For example...Crystal Lite is bad? I've been substituting my evening cup of decaf coffee with Crystal Lite and hot water, but I'll stop if it's a big taboo.

Today, I went to our local co-op craft shop and set up my crafts display. Since last summer (when my health would no longer allow me to work out of the house), I've been painting on fabric, wood, etc. I don't expect to get rich at it, but a little income would be nice.

And then...My parents took me out to lunch. I had a quesedilla. Other than salad, it seemed to be the healthiest thing on the menu...

And then...I received my "claim denial" letter from Disability, but I was expecting that, so no big deal. It just means that I move on to the next step, go through our local legal clinic, apply for Canada Pension, blah, blah, blah...
I've learned not to stress about the potholes in life. Go around, reverse, whatever. But don't let the little things affect the grand journey...

Sheila (I think...) I'd love to get into exercise - swimming combined, but live nowhere near a pool. And I don't drive. I may have to fill up the tub and swish around for an hour...

    Later...

Hello TEAM! I am a newbie that met up with Anita and linked over (Thanks Anita)! I took the time this AM and read the full thread and am so thankful to have found this group. I was really discouraged by the scolding you all received but was so impressed by the way you all stuck together, supported one another, and kept moving forward!! That says ALOT about this group!

I just started MFP last week and love it! I weighed this morning and am down 4lbs (124 to go)! I know everyone weighs on Fri here but if you don't mind I would prefer to "bring up the rear" (here's hoping  ) and stick with Mondays. It helps keep me accountable on the weekend and motivates me for the week.

Congrats for everyone's successes thus far and those who feel they didn't meet their goals last week, keep this quote in mind: "Sometimes our skill is PERSEVERENCE. We CAN be good at trying and if we are, we need to honor our effort!:

A little about me: I am 39 yo, happily married to Steve, and mama to 2 kiddos (Cal 8y and Emma 6y). I am a registered nurse (yes, I should know better!) that is great at taking care of others, just not so good at taking care of myself. That is changing!! I own my own business and work from home.

I started MFP on 4/20 and my 10 yr Annivesary is 11/20 so my first goal is to lose 35lbs by then. I have little goals to help get me there. I turn 40 in Jan so that will be my next milestone.

I purchased an elliptical last week instead of a treadmill as I think it will be a better all over workout and easier on the joints. It is kicking my butt! Kristi and those of you that do the elliptical more than 7 minutes at a time (my current best) are quite the inspiration!! I was discouraged at first but have to remind myself that it is still more than I was doing before!

So that is it for now. Since I agree with Jamie about daily posting - Talk to you all soon!

    Waddle On!

It's fine in moderation, but if you drink too much of it, then it's bad. The fake sugar can get bad for you when you drink too much, etc. But a cup a day? No problem.

I had some this morning because I'm dying for something other than water, ran out of Diet Pepsi and thought, well I should try to kick that habit... ugh... so I'm suffering withdrawel!!

Just back from the gym, did 30 mins slow on treadmill to test my tendonitis, it's doing fine, then 25 on a different elliptical which kicked my butt. But it's good. Hoping to start wogging again after this week! Next time I"ll walk faster on the treadmill and make sure I don't have any pain, work my way up to running again.

Off to do my situps and then I think I'll lay down and die on the floor for awhile... boys are outside playing, so I can die in peace for at least a few mins before someone hits someone else... LOL

Welcome to the group AJ! I noticed your name says Amy Jo, and it's funny because my sister is Amie and she has a little girl named Emma...weird!

Everyone here is great, I wish every single one of these people lived near me...which reminds me, my neighbors are moving, someone could move right next door!

I had to make an appointment with an orthopaedic specialist on Wednesday morning, so keep your fingers crossed for me! I know they'll tell me I need to lose weight, which is what I'm trying to do, but seriously, there should be SOMETHING they can do to help manage the pain so I can be more active...that's my theory anyway

Back to work, take care everyone!

Ok, I just got back form my 1st meeting with the weightloss challenge and it was cool. There were people of all shapes and sizes and young and old so I didn't feel weird or nothing. We weighed in and took measurements and I found out the you have to Pay $1.00 for every lb you gain during the 12 week session. That's right people add to the pot. Shocking but cool at the same time when they first mentioned it. . Just had to share that.

I believe it is sponsored by herbalife. You do not had to purchase anything just come to the meetings. You can continue on any plan that works for you. I like Atkins. There are different locations all over town and you just call one up to join. I originally got a flyer one of the coaches dropped off at my work. I also see them under the beauty section on craigslist.com

Well what it seems like to me is you weigh in every week and you only measure whenever you feel like. Most people only measure themselves at the 6 week mark or at the end. During the meetings you talk about nutrition and how to log food and calories, carbs, water, etc... You also talk about why you want to lose weight and your personal battles with being overweight. Nothing too sappy though just quick truths.

Pretty much like this website but in person. They also took pictures of us today for your before pics and some of the people there have been there for a while. 2 of them had before and after pics of the last one to two 12 week sessions and has lost a great deal of weight. My coaches are a married couple and the husband is about 300+ lbs right now but he had before pics and man does he look great. Hes lost about 40 lbs I believe. His wife lost about 30.

There is absolutely no pressure on anything and I had a great time. Also, they do not share your weight with the group but you can call the coaches and ask who is in the lead at anytime. The winner is the person with the biggest percentage of weightloss not the person that loss the most weight. Meetings are held once a week. I paid $29 to join and the 1st place winner get 50 percent of the pot, 2nd place gets 30 percent and 3rd get 20 percent. Also the person with the most inches lost that is not one of the top 3 winners will receive any money added to the pot from weight gain and something else I forget.

The last 1st place winner lost 36 lbs in the 12 weeks. As far as I know of there is a location in Kentwood and one starting in Caledonia on the 12 of May. You can join any group up to the 6th week. You would think this wouldn't be wise but there have been people that has won this challenge coming in at week 6.
