Girls - how heavy do you lift?

4-7 reps:
Squat: 165lb
Bench: 100lb
Dips: 6 @ BW+5lb
Leg Press: 15X408, so somewhere around 500 for 6 maybe?478ish? Hard to be exact when the machine doesn't have a start weight -_-
BB Curl: 50lb
Chin Up: 4 @ BW
BB Row: 110lb
ETA: Weight- 114.5, height, 5'50 -
out of curiosity for those of you who deadlift do you use the bar and plates or do you use the bar that you stand inside of and lift?

I personally use the machines. I don't quite have the upper body strength going on yet, but I am working on it. The highest I go right now is 60lbs. My legs are the other hand seem to be beasts!! I am currently doing 255 lbs. My goal for my upper body is just to get stronger and stronger, but no numbers in mind. As for my legs, the machine goes to a max of 395... I don't know if I will ever get there, but I am gonna damn well try!!
I would say you probably have the strength and just don't realize it. If you don't try free weights, kettlebells etc you won't develop your stabilizing muscles that you use so much doing that kind of lifting. The machines don't really allow for your full range of motion and for you to engage your stabilizer muscles. You will get so much stronger if you do. Start light and get your body used to it. Even starting just squats with no added weight, body weight only. You will really see your physique change with free weights.0 -
I do crossfit style workouts mainly. Deadlifts, squats, kettlebells etc. I lift as heavy as I can, but, crossfit is also about time and how well you can do the same circuit in less time. I am getting stronger and stronger. The 55lb kettelbell is starting to feel light on sumo high pulls. It's a good feeling! The inches are going at the same rate as my weight. Love this kind of workout0

I just lost my World Record in the Bench (WABDL Federation) of 225.7lbs.
Leg press is 405 for 10 reps at the moment.
My best squat has been 275lbs, my best deadlift 225lbs and I do Bent over rows with 70lb dumbbells ;D

I don't understand what you mean by the bar you can stand inside and lift? Are we talking about the Smith Machine?0

My Deadlift is beastly at 245lbs. I'm aiming for the 300's, or at least 275 by next summer.

I just had stomach surgery, so I anticipate having to rebuild this strength, but I'm sure it'll come quick.0 -
I'm not confident enough to try and lift heavy without having a trainer there that knows what they are doing to show me how to do it properly first. Unforunately, I don't know of any trainer around here that does that.
Right now I'm doing a Total Pump class twice a week. It's not heavy by these standards, but they do a gazillion of them, which makes them seem really heavy by the end.
I still have plenty of fat I need to lose, and doing that class got it moving again, but I've been going for at least two months and it's not going fast enough for me. Bums me out. I want to see the little bit of muscle I've built.0 -

I just made my Deadlift PR last night at 200#
I haven't done 1 rep max's on anything else lately since I've been working so hard on my DLs but here's what I know I can do.
Hang clean: 115
Jerk: 115
strict press: probably only like 85.
Front squat: 125
Back squat: 145
I think I'll set some new goals to add 20-50 pounds to each move by June 2012.0 -
i wish i had workout partner. i would love to find out my 1 rep max but i'd be uncomfortable doing it without a spotter.0

I was working out with a trainer last night and thought I was going to die. I was doing squat thrusts with just a 12 lb weighted bar. We did five sets (alternating with two other exercises) starting with 14 reps, down to 10. I was absolutely wiped after it was over.

I am 5'2 and weight 116 lb. I started working out hard in June 2011 and started at weighting 106 lbs.
Squat: 185 lbs
Deadlift: 175 lbs
Bench press: 85 lbs
Bicep curls: 30-35 lbs
Barbell Rows: 96 lbs
My goal is to be able to squat and deadlift 205 lbs!0 -

You girls are amazingly strong, there are many of you that not only lift heavier than I do ( Ive just started lifting in November) but you left heavier than about half the guys I see at my gym.

I'm not even close to most of the ladies on this post, but I do get some looks in the gym even for these weights. I just started on January 6:
Incline Chest Press (DBs): 90#
Squat (BB, on back, not smith): 135#
Deadlift (BB): 115#
Military Shoulder Press (DBs): 80#
I am also having my husband read this because he thinks I shouldn't continue for much longer (even though I have no change in measurements yet) and I shouldn't do any heavier weights... thanks for the fuel! Hopefully, I can be as strong as you all one day!0
