Hey out there!! I like to eat clean and I'm looking for people who have the same mindset. My diary is open and I'd hope others did the same.

    I think that if you look at the world around us, slowly but surely our food freedoms are being chipped away at buy big business and corporate greed. I wish to eat cleanly as well. The new Senate Bill S.3002 Dietary Supplement Safety Act claims to have good intentions but will drastically change the way you choose to be healthy. Basically nutritional supplements will be regulated to the point of being illegal without prescription. Enforced by DEA and FDA as the lines between drugs and vitamins become blurred. Go to a website called Citizens Speaking Out for Health, www.csofh.com and get involved if you want to keep this health freedom. There is still action to be taken. Spread the word. Call or write your local legislators and tell them how you feel.

    Also GMO foods are being slowly pushed into peoples diets more and more. Go to www.ResponsibleTechnology.com. This site talks about how are own government scientists from the FDA have warned that GM foods can create unpredictable, hard-to-detect side effects. Including allergies, toxins, new diseases, nutritional problems. They urged long-term safety studies, but were ignored. GM foods on the market include soy, corn, canola, cotton, sugar beets. There is a genetically modified Hawaiian papaya. There are zucchini and yellow squash engineered to resist plant virus. There is evidence that GMOs create growth problems in rats, along with sterility problems, liver problems, allergy problems.

    I'm looking for people who are clean eaters too because soon they're gonna be an endangered species. Eating a healthy diet is already becoming expensive. Soon people won't be able to afford it. You'll have to settle for the GMO because it will fit in your budget. I also recommend www.Naturalnews.com. They have some info that is interesting to say the least.

    Eating healthy, with foods like fresh vegetables and fruits, are being pronounced as having immune boosting, cancer/sickness fighting mineral, vitamin, and phytochemicals. The phytochemicals are so amazing that scientists haven't even discovered them all yet, let alone know what they can do. Then they start genetically modifying them. That can't be good. Fighting for our food freedoms is more important than ever.

    Yup I'm well aware! I love naturalnews too. :) I go to farmers markets and in April will start using csa.

    I would say I eat cleaner than...about 98% of the people on the planet. LOL.

    when I first saw your profile picture, I thought "wow, she has tiny boobs." and then I realized that it was a man in your picture. Now I feel much better about thinking that you had tiny boobs.

    I eat as clean as possible... But there are definitely some areas I would like to improve on!

    I'd say I'm a "tidy" eater... but not super-clean. I do try to minimize processed stuff, and I cook a lot. From scratch! I even have a weekly produce delivery that brings locally-grown foods to my door. (Well, less local stuff in the winter since I'm in Ohio, but still mostly organic/conventionally grown... I love it! )

    Actually it's the five-second rule. I know because I have a degree in Food Science. :laugh: And you've got to be quick if you're going to beat the dog to it in five seconds (for any dog worth his or her salt. :wink: )

    I eat mostly vegetables and meat/eggs/cheese (high protein/low carb sources) most of the week and some fruit and nuts as snacks once in a while and once a week or so I will have a somewhat free day, focusing still on the vegetables and meat, but also allow myself to "indulge" in other carb based foods (gluten free pasta/bread/etc). I do my best to eat locally grown/raised and organic foods. My diary is not public as I have a lot of personal information on mine, however, feel free to send me a message if you have any questions, etc. And feel free to add me as well, just be sure to write in the message you found me here bc I am not really accepting new FRs :)

    I eat clean with allowances only for treats I can afford.
    The results speak for itself:
    lost 64 lbs - almost 20% body fat and down from 46 pants to 36

    Losing weight is simple but hard.

    I lose one pound a week eating around 3000 calories daily - a lot but so too is my activity level.
    It works.

    ROFL!!! I'm glad I'm not the only who did that :D

    What is this clean eating we speak of? I wash my veggies before I cook them, and I don't dive into my food face first. But by watching the youtube video of my daughter going to town on her cake, you might think that's not true.

    Guess I should define how I see clean eating..

    Whole foods, little to no packaged foods like vitatops (heh), chips, crackers, lean cuisines, etc.

    Not much sugar. Protein, some dairy and lots of veggies, fruit. Good fats like real butter preferably from grass fed cows (I like kerrygold), coconut oils and butter, avocado, etc.

    it's a little harder now that I have 2 kids, one who is 11 months old who had a very rough start (CCAM, lobe of lung removed, ECMO, 3 month nicu stay, hospital bedrest for me, g-tube feedings, physical, developmental and feeding therapy every week, but I do the best I can.

    I don't like added chemicals and artificial stuff. Try to eat organic when I can.

    I know it's all about calorie deficit, yadda yadda yadda. I just choose to not always eat fake food. Do i indulge? Sure when I feel like it, I don't go for low fat though. If i'm going to have ice cream I want the real deal.

    Just wanted to have people that eat actual food not Smart ones everyday ..similiar goals, that's all. If what you're doing works for you then more power to ya!

    I love cooking, so I eat a lot of raw foods and mix them up whatever way I want. I do eat bread, crackers, and other stuff. I have to keep my sodium intake low to help control my heart condition. I also write a blog on cooking: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Elizabeth_C34

    Im going to draw some heat here. My Mama lived to be 86 years old and was in reasonably good health. She smoked several packs of cigs a day from her teens until her 50's when she quit. She ate nearly anything she wanted and did not die from it. I think you can be overly concerned about how food is grown ect.

    I was talking to a relative of my wives the other day, she was 98 and was walking around and in pretty good shape. I watched her consume the regular "dirty" food that many of us eat. How did she live that long eating that dirty food? I asked her what kind of a party she wanted on her 100th birthday and she said she did not want to live that long, folks that age just dont have a whole lot of fun you know. Remember, none of us is going to get out of this life alive! I am going to loose this weight but Im not going to obsess about how the food is grown, but thats just me. .

    I think of my grandmother too who lived to 91 with no health problems. Yes she occasionally ate ice cream, but she also grew up on a farm and ate a lof of fresh foods and fat, glorious fat!. I just choose to have a general good idea of what's going into my body. Not everyone thinks this way. Again, I do indulge, but i'm not going to eat Mcdonalds all the time (In fact I hate the stuff or any fast food), I don't like soda, etc. I don't have anything against people who choose to eat differently then I do. It's just about how it makes ME feel. My grandmother also smoked. It's a mindset and hard to explain Yes I'm going to die one day, but If i can do what I can to live a long, enjoyable life to see my kids grow up and have their own kids, well then I've succeeded. I don't want anyone to have to take care of me when i'm old. I've seen older relatives get sick and need to be cared for by their spouses or children. I don't want that. Sure it could still happen, but I'll keep doing what I'm doing because it works for me.

    That woman didn't want to live to 100, that's fine. My plan is to live as long as I can and to enjoy it.

    It's important also to note that it's not always about how long you live, but the quality of your life. My grandmother lived to 79 and was a 3 pack a day smoker for almost 65 years. Sure, she lived a long time, but her quality of life stunk for the last 30 years. She couldn't travel by plane, couldn't walk without a cane or a walker, couldn't drive the last 5 years, had severe rhumatoid arthritis in her hands that prevented her form doing a lot of the more basic tasks in life like buttoning her shirts, and sounded like she was hacking up a lung anytime she exerted herself. She was never overweight, but the point still stands.

    Other things like genetics have a lot to do with your suceptibility to certain cancers, heart disease, and other conditions. You can't really control that stuff, but you can control how you choose to make your lifestyle.
