I would certainly like to think so. I shudder at the possibility that we may be the most intelligent life in the universe...
  • Of course it's possible.

We have a whole bunch in Arizona that came across the southern border

But the outer space ones? Yeah, I think we would be a bit silly to say no they don't exist when the universe is so large and there can be planets that life can actually be sustained.

They totally do exist. They live across the street from me and collect more money from the government than the elderly people next door get from their pensions.

    ^ lol this
  • What level of arrogance would that be to assume that in the vastness of space we are the ONLY intelligent life? There have to be. And I think it is entirely possible that they have been to this planet.
  • i think that to say "there's no such thing" is to deny a lot of math. and the fact that we found fosilized single-celled organisms on Mars, means that at SOME time alien life DID exist.

so i think they're most definitely FACT.

now the abduction, anal probe stories... those i doubt.

ancient aliens? awesome theory, with some evidence... but is it enough? no. not for fact. but for conjecture and for scifi original movies? most definitely!

sorry thats not factually correct. no fossils of anything living creatures have been found. that would be a awesome scientific finding if it was the case. secondly if we do find bacterium on other planets, it is important for us to make sure we do not self contaminate our own samples by accident

I believe there are intelligent life forms out there. I think they have the technology to visit earth since there are things that are possible that we can't even imagine. If they have/do visit us, I am not sure about. I also believe that parallel universes are possible, so perhaps they come from the another dimension.

Unfortunately, those "fossilized single-celled organisms" were just a geological phenomena related to the formation of the rock. I remember we studied it at ASU. I was quite excited, then let down.
  • Believe.

While we are at it: I also believe in Ghosts, Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster.

I do not; however, believe that zombies, vampires, or werewolves exist.

I believe that there is other life beyond our Solar system. I don't believe in the genesis story.

All you have to do is go to Southern California and drive by a Home Depot in the morning. They are here.

lets hope for "intelligent" life form SOMEWHERE cuz it certainly isn't here on earth!

while it's true that what the Mars Rover found in 2009 was proven not to be fossils, there is new data from August of this year, from fossils found in Australia that have convincing data. i fell down that particular rabbit hole a few months ago, though i admit i haven't followed up. here's the source i had saved in favorites:

While I think it is certainly a possibility,I wouldn`t say it was a certainty that life exists elsewhere.
As far as them visiting here eventually it becomes a matter of faith as one has to dismiss the real difficulties involved with covering the vast distance of space.
The "they are more advanced and have means of travel we just don`t understand" idea.
It explains nothing but assumes it is so.

Using that theory though it raises the questions as to how many different forms, how did they find us,what is the purpose and why have they not made direct contact rather then peeking in and running off.
None of it makes sense as we know it so once more we have to pass it off as motives that we just don`t understand.
At some point for me there becomes too many unanswered questions just brushed off, much the same as with other legendary entities such as Bigfoot (why no carcass found,no live one captured etc).

Fun to think about as sci fi goes but very doubtful we have been or are being visited.

I think it needs to be defined. Life doesn't not mean intelligent life.

That is true was just going on the topic of being visited so that would mean intelligent life in this case.
One other thing that bothers me about the idea of being visited is that it assumes that out of all the presumed aliens visiting none of them have any aggressive desires.
Not one of them has sought out this planet for the purpose of colonization or conquest for resources?
If we are going to say that it is almost impossible for intelligent life to not exist then why do we insist that all are peaceful?

Now if one is to say that an alien life form discovered the means to cross the distance of space and wandered by for a look then fine but for numerous visits over thousands of years and no adverse consequences really in my book isn`t plausible.

    Well said!

If we could go from horseback to Space travel in 100 years, why is it so hard to believe a life form 1,000,000 years ahead of us can't cruise around throughout space in a pimped out Buick?

I figure that, with all of the zillions of suns out there, and the subsequent planets surrounding said suns, there's GOT to be other life forms out there. I don't think they look anything like what Hollywood has made them out to be, and I don't think they've been to earth, but I'd bet they exist.

    Ditto

    Double Ditto :)

I certainly believe in the Ancient Alien theory... there are far too many explainable things in our world that didn't just appear out of thin air. Also believe they had a hand in our creation and evolution.

I think it was Arthur C Clarke who said, either there are, or there aren't. And either way, it is pretty amazing.
    Or something like that..

I believe that there is other intelligent life forms out there, and I just hope that in my life time that the human race will make contact.
