My mom is a mish-mash of various European cultures (mostly Scottish, English and German iirc). My dad is Honduran. I was born and raised in California and don't really identify with anything else. My extended family isn't very close.

I was born in England near London, but I am not from anywhere. My family are from all over the world originally. I have Asian, African, German, Scottish, Welsh and English ancestors. Ethnicity is much less of a big deal here than it is in the US. I find it really funny when people know where they are from. It just doesn't matter.

I'm American born and raised in Hawaii.

My ethnicities are Hawaiian, Filipino, Portuguese, Irish, English. I identify most with my Hawaiian & Portuguese culture though I don't speak either language fluently. I'm mostly Portuguese and I've been told I really pull that side as far as looks. My father-in-law (also Portuguese) went to Madeira (an island off of Portugal) to visit family and he swears he saw me walk down the street, lol.

This is a great topic! It was fun to see all the different cultures on MFP!

    True story

Me: So dad where did your family come from? Whats your background?

    Dad: Texas

Me: Dad, no like BEFORE texas. We're not natives here.

Dad: We're Texans. There was no where before Texas.

    ************************
To this day I honestly have no idea about my dad's side of the family.

what did you expect? He's texan there is nothing else. What's the old joke: I'd rather be a post in Texas than the Queen of England

I was born in NY, but consider myself "From" Massachusetts (grew up there)......I am Puerto Rican, Panamanian, and Dominican. My paternal side has been in the U.S. since the 1960's, and my maternal side has been in the U.S. since 1970's. I consider myself Hispanic
