everyone has told me they are bad and empty calories.....does anyone else eat Ramen?

Ramen is horrible! Have you read the nutrition label on that? the sodium alone is enough to kill you. Also you have to double the numbers for some becuase they actually list it as two servings in a package but everyone just eats one package so that isn't realistic.0

I love ramen!! i was just eaitng it for lunch.. but yes it is horrible for you. I am kind of having a cheat week so i'm eating it but I need to give it up too.0

Ramen is horrible! Have you read the nutrition label on that? the sodium alone is enough to kill you.
It's just carbs and sodium, pretty much, so not going to do much for you nutritionally. I wouldn't make them a big part of my diet but if I wanted some on occasion, I would have them. (Granted, I can't remember the last time I wanted them, but to each her own...)
Also, if you like the noodles themselves, you can skip the flavor packet and make your own toppings for them... much better in my opinon!0 -
Girl... I LOVE Ramen Noodles. They are my one "trigger" food.

Ya funny how all the nay sayers hating on Ramen but if and when they goto jail they cant get enough of them and they seem to always appreciate them so much more! LOOOL. This is just from what I was told but ya until that day ever comes I dont eat them.0

It's like anything else. Does it fit into your calorie and macro goals?
Skipping the flavor packet will help with the sodium. Plenty of options out there for spicing them up otherwise. Lots of cool recipes out there for crunchy oriental salads that use them too. Be creative! :drinker:0 -

They're deep fried before they're dried. Haven't eaten any since I found that out. Deep-fried, salty noodle water. no thanks.0

And me. I love how people say "no nutrition". Why do they call carbohydrates, fat, and protein macro-nutrients? Carbohydrates and fat are by definition nutrients. That's the stuff Ramen is made of. I need that stuff. Ramen helps me get it. Nary a week goes by without my Top Ramen.0 -
I LOVE Ramen! Especially late at night. If I can't sleep I really want it. I have not had it since I started and the two huge boxes of them are staring at me all day......... also I use the noodles for stir fry sometimes. I toss the packet when I do that.0

Good, legit ramen from a Japanese restaurant, that is...not that 25 cent, sodium infused excuse for ramen that passes in most households across America.
The good stuff has noodles, plus incredibly tender pork, seaweed, and vegetables in a fish broth (though there are many variations). Everyone should try it.0 -
Noodles are noodles. They are the same as pasta. If you buy fresh ramen, like from an Asian market they aren't fried.
Ramen Noodle recipe:
3/4 Cups Flour
1 egg
~3/4 tsp salt (or to taste)
~1 tbsp water (depending on flour and humidity)0 -
I add only half the pack of the little flavor pack and chop up some watercrest and put 3 oz of chop chicken and it turns pretty nutritional. I eat it when I want something quick. I add chop spinach sometimes also but watercrest i find is better. if it has no nutrition then ADD IT! LOL =D enjoy.0

If you like Ramen you should try the Shirataki Noodles --- they are sold where tofu is sold in the produce section of the grocery stores (Price Chopper in my area).. you drain the liquid, rinse, and cook it just like Ramen Noodles with a broth or spaghetti sauce. They are 40 calories for a bag. They run about $2 per bag (compared to .20 a pack of Ramen) but look at the nutritional value.... (see link below)
I personally prefer the angel hair pasta size noodles because of the texture (kind of like if you undercook Ramen)...the smaller noodle size cooks nicer than the larger thicker size noodles.

Love them dry in Broccoli slaw-it has a vinagarette dressing...gives it a great crunch...mmm0

Consider them a "treat" if you absolutely cannot give them up. They are extremely high in sodium. Toss the flavour packet and make a veggie stir fry with the noodles if you have to have them.0

pshh I love roman noodles!! and I will not give then up!! I still lose weight eating those if they fit into my daily cals. and they fill me up!! It's one of my many comfort foods!0

Personally, ramen aren't my favorite thing, and I feel hungry, like, 2 seconds after eating them, so I haven't eaten them in a long time. However, if you want them and can fit them into your goals, I don't see the big deal. Or, if they don't really fit your goals, then just splurge on them every once in awhile. Life will go on.0

I like the taste of dry raman noodles as much as the next person but when I realized a block of Ramen is 2 servings and has hardly any nutritional value I decided I had better things to do with my 400 calories.... like eat steak!!!!0

Love the ramen. Have loved it my entire life. And my blood pressure was 103/59 at my last physical, so bring on the sodium.0
