protein shakes/recipes

Hi peeps, I like protein shakes and use the EAS powder, right now I have only tried the vanilla, but I do have the eas protein chocolate shakes that are already ready and contain 42 grams of protein, I like to have a shake around 5 am at work so that when I do go home and go to bed I am not hungry and eating whatever is in site.
SOooooo my question is this....if you utilize powdered protein, what recipes do you use, what are your faves, ect...I would like a good one for PB and choco or something fruity where you can taste the fruit. I dont normally use milk I will use greek yogurt either vanilla or plain, and some V8 diet juice the fruit kind, and ice along with fiber powder, but that can make one a tad gassy so I dont do it everyday. lol....it just makes it even creamier.
or if you have or know of a good website for recipes Id be psyched to try that.

I use any random protein powder provided it is whey protein ISOLATE. If it's not isolate my gut rebels. I haven't tried other sources for protein in my shakes.
My recipe:
One cup of skim milk or plain fat free yogurt, whatever you prefer.
One half scoop of whey protein isolate (my current container, a 1/2 scoop is about 15 g of protein)
One cup of frozen strawberries
One cup of frozen mango chunks
Blend
Add water or ice until desired consistency is reached.
It makes about two tall glasses.
Change out the fruits once in a while to keep it interesting or to adjust to your calorie and sugar goals. Banana will blow your sugars off the map, so avoid if sugars are important for your diet.
I plan on adding some frozen chopped spinach next time, see how it turns out
ETA: if you take them at the end of a work shift, prepare ahead of time and freeze. Let thaw in the work fridge and enjoy, either as a frozen treat or a shake.0 -
for a nice twist on the protein shake..which I drink way too many of....try fat free vanilla pudding, strawberries, a banana and scoop of powder....very tasty all blended up...I do milk and greek yogurt but sometimes the pudding is a nice change.0

Pumpkin pie--
1/4 c pumpkin
pumpkin pie spice
cinnamon or vanilla whey
sweetener (optional)
ice
berry
frozen berries
vanilla whey
no ice
I use a stick blender, and I also add baby spinach sometimes (you can't even taste it)

i do a vanilla EAS whey protein with frozen raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries (comes as a mix) splash of oj and splash of non fat milk and omg..im in heaven very yummy
or do a vanilla, pineapple and coconut, non fat milk and its like a pina colada...:bigsmile:0 -
Here's my favorite
1 cup soy milk
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 small banana
2 tbs peanut butter
1 cup spinach0 -
My favorite is:
1 scoop Vanilla protein powder (or your choosing)
1/2 C. unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 C. non-fat plain yogurt
1/2 C. frozen blueberries
1/2 C. frozen strawberries
1/2 C. frozen banana slices (optional)
Mix all together in a blender and enjoy!0 -

Spinach would add alot of iron and probably just take on the flavor of whatever else was added in. Spinach is very nutricious All leafy green vegetables are.
I love the new juices that you can by that are veggies and fruit in one tasty drink. For someone who has trouble getting in their portions , this is great ! And kids love it too !0 -
My favorite is a chocolate, peanut butter, and banana shake.
1 cup milk
1/2 frozen banana
1 tbsp natural peanut butter
1 scoop chocolate whey powder
1 rounded teaspoon of instant coffee (optional)
1 tsp honey (optional)
4-5 ice cubes
Blend until smooth.
This is pretty high cal (over 300) but it is hearty enough to have instead of a meal. I usually have it for breakfast.0 -
I mix mine with half caf coffee, SF vanilla syrup, and 2Tbs of half and half - awfully delish
(I use GNC 100% Whey Cookies and Cream or Vanilla)0 -

3 tablespoons coolwhip
this is a great low cal/fat recipe

Here's one of our favorite smoothie recipies from a friend:
MUSCLE BUILDER
2 Tbsp peanut butter
1 banana
1/3 c whey protein (we use a serving of our protein shake powder)
1/2 c fat-free chocolate frozen yogurt
1 c fat free milk
We buy our protein shakes from GNC (first week of the month is discount week for their club card holders). LeanShake (vanilla) is a good one. Recently switched to Gold Standard 100% Casein.0 -
I started using the soy protein powder originally to lower my cholesterol, but find that I LOVE the shakes! I do several different ones, but you mention chocolate peanut butter - easy to do! With the protein powder and water (I avoid dairy) I use either peanutbutter or almond butter, with cocoa...I like to add cinnamon too! I usually use 1/2 cup frozen banana for the potassium and it adds thickness to the shake. ENJOY! My personal favorite though is under EAS Soy Shake, Banana, Strawberry in the food selections. I already figured out the counts there for 1 scoop of soy powder with frozen strawberries and banana - I have this almost everyday (other fruits and veggies are yummy too) and this meal replacement does not leave me hungry!0

Cherry Chocolate Bomb
1 cup frozen sweet cherries (Strawberries, bananas or blueberries work great too)
1-2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (depends how chocolatey you like it)
1 cup of milk of choice (I usually use unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
1/2-1 cup of water (or you can use more milk)
1 scoop protein powder (I usually use vanilla but chocolate would be awesome!)
a pinch of xanthan gum (only if it's watery and icy)
sweetener of choice (1-2 packets splenda or truvia work great)
3-4 ice cubes
(Makes a blender full - about 2 servings or 1 serving for a person like me that drinks the entire thing!)
Once you find a shake you like, it will be easy to modify it to your taste.
For protein powder I usually use EAS 100% or Tapout because they are available at my grocery store, taste good, and price is decent.0 -
Freshly blended protein shakes are so much better than the prepackaged kind. My favorite is Butterfinger:
1/2 c. unsweetened almond milk
1/2 c. water
1 TBS ff sf butterscotch unprepared pudding mix
1 TBS almond or peanut butter (or PB2 if you want to save some of those calories and fat)
your favorite chocolate protein powder (I use Shakeology, Jay Robb or Herbalife)
ice
or another favorite is Coconut Almond
1/2 c. unsweetened almond milk (oprtional: add some lite coconut milk too)
1/2 c. coconut water
1 TBS ff sf coconut unprepared pudding mix
1 tsp. almond extract and/or coconut extract (you may need to experiment to suit your taste)
Optional (TBS almonds)
your favorite vanilla protein powder (I use Jay Robb or Herbalife)
ice
Consider adding some cottage cheese for ice cream (yes, it know it sounds weird, but it makes it really thick and creamy) if you want to eat your shake with a spoon! Enjoy! I can't live without these.0 -
I add spinach because it's an easy way to add vegetables to my diet without altering the flavor.0

1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2tbsp cocoa powder
cinnamon
Ice (5-8 cubes)

Just had to post one more time because I experimented tonight with a new shake recipe with great success! I was out of control craving something sweet tonight, so I grabbed a weight watchers mocha sundae from the freezer. However, those have very little protein, so I put the sundae in the bullet, added a little bit of almond milk and some jay Robb choc protein. It was the best protein shake ever. A liitle more calories than I would have liked at about 300 but for 26 grams of protein and only 4 grams of fat, it is much better than the major binge I was about to go on. It saved me.0

i either mix mine with water, or skim milk
some days i make a smoothie with low fat yogurt, fruit (fresh or canned with lite or no syrup), choc protein powder, sugar free choc syrup and sometimes peanut butter (if i'm low on cal for the day and the fruits agree with it) i love this smoothie. it tastes amazing after a hard workout0
