    Years ago I had spent A LOT of time at the gym - ended up dating one of the trainers for about a year. So it does happen. (Needless to say, I was in the best shape of my life back then!)

    I used to go to a local martial arts (kickboxing & krav maga) school. I met a really sweet, amazing guy there out of the blue... he was very shy and it took us a while to go from friends to dating...

    and we just got married in September :):)

    I don't hit on ANYONE at the gym and I definitely don't want to be hit on while I am running on a treadmill sweating like crazy, no makeup, smelly, hair in ponytail, etc... I go to the gym to work out and focus and I would be annoyed if someone interfered with "my time"
    Thats just me though :)

    I stopped going to the shower area at my gym several years ago because I could hear dudes banging in there. Worse... I walked by the shower area on my way to the bathroom and saw two dudes making out.

    Oh yeah... when I used to take showers there, people kept knocking on the door. I kept having to yell "OCCUPIED, DAMN IT!"

    WHAT kind of gym do you go to?! Sounds more like a porn set...


    I would avoid them as well..
    It was Bally's in Rockville, Maryland. Nowadays, I try to avoid locker rooms altogether and work out at home when I can.


    OMG! I've heard about the Rockville, MD Ballys!!! My ex roomie (who happened to be a gay male) moved from down there and he used to tell me about that Ballys. He said he wouldn't shower there for the same reason!! Actually Bally's are infamous for this apparently, b/c he said the ones in Philadelphia are the same way! He came home one day and said "what's the name of the gym you go to again, b/c I can't even shower at mine without getting hit on!" Needless to say, he joined Planet fitness with me the very next day!

    We didn't MEET at the gym, but my hubby and I used to go and workout at the same gym... We were friends then... and then dating... and then eventually tied the knot LOL.... But, we didn't MEET there.... There was plenty of flirting... And everytime he would be working out behind me, he would say, "Motivation, Motivation, Motivation"!! LOL.... :laugh:

    I am really IN THE ZONE at the gym, no time for 'flirting' although, I really enjoy the art of flirting .... I'm totally hard core when I'm there....

    When I go to the gym, my hair is messed up, I'm all sweaty, and I'm usually breathing very heavily. If you want to hit on someone who looks like that, well, good luck! Ha!

    Where I exercise, such types are just not allowed.
    It's a PRIVATE CLUB for family men ONLY.

    It's not so much a gay thing but that whole culture of such open sex. That's disgusting with gays, straights, dogs, cats and all forms of insects.

    I have no desire to see or hear anybody else having sex outside a porn movie.

    Glad you clarified the original statement. "Such types are just not allowed" just about got my rant on, but since it's "not so much" just hating on the gays, I'll let you be. Carry on, good sir.

    I don't know anyone, regardless of their sexual preference, that would find locker room sex appropriate, except maybe that guy I dated back in high school when we were 15. Grown adults banging at the gym reeks of desperation.

    I've worked at a gym for the past 3.5 years and unfortunately, this does not surprise me!

    I've heard that the sauna is pretty steamy too! LOL
    My friend's been hit on more than he cared for and stopped going to the men's locker room altogether.
    There's a chain of gyms here that are REALLY well known for this. The mens showers are a hot spot apparently.

    There was a guy that figured my schedule and was at the gym at the same time every day as me. If I was doing cardio, so was he, right next to me. If I was strength training, he was as well right next to me. He flirted a lot, which was okay. And then, he brought me a bouquet of 12 long stem red roses one day. I changed gyms.
