I'm seriously so pale. If I lay out, I turn into a lobster and then peel so badly! I want to do the tanning beds, have any of you pale girls out there tried it? Does it look like a natural tan!? I got a spray tan once, and no thank you. Not for me lol I don't want to go every 4 days to get sprayed on, and then look blotchy 4 days later!! Any suggestions?

I'm pale. I own a tanning bed. Just start very slow....if you go to a tanning salon they will be more than willing to help you.0

Learn to love your paleness! Your skin will thank you for it.0

I'm pretty sure if you burn in the sun you will do the same in a tanning bed! Embrace your paleness I'm a natural redhead and I've come to terms that I will be forever white...with the exception of freckles. But maybe you can try some of the gradual tanning lotion, you can get it in fair, medium, and dark... Start with fair.0

Own it! Pale's beautiful0

Don't tan. You will regret it and look 10 years older than you are in your 40s. I was spray tanned once for a physique challenge at our gym, and I won't do it again either. I just look white and do not mind as I would rather not have cancer and wrinkles.0

I also turn into a lobster. My friend used to work at a tanning salon and after 6 minutes I still ended up burnt. I have embraced my reflective qualities.0

I am pale. I won't use tanning beds (I watched final destination).
Spray ons always look orange to me0 -
Don't use tanning beds, they can cause skin cancer just like the sun. Best choice is to use Jergen's Natural Glow sunless tanning moisturizer. There are multiple color levels to get from pale to a beautiful and healthy glow without exposing yourself to UV rays. I use it and it works for me.0

I WAS pasty pale, almost see through. shoulda called me casper. i tan now, yes, I burned and it hurt like a *****, but if you can get through the first few sessions dealing with it, after you get a base tan you won't burn anymore.
The workers at most salons are trained to know what level and how long people should go in for. I would go in and talk to them.0 -
I'm fine being pale. I make it work.0

Tan girls look so much skinnier, and when they are skinny they look so much better. I don't want to tan a lot, just build up a base tan so I don't look like casper!!
and I tried lotions, they don't work. Jergens in particular. Makes me pasty and just, not attractive. and not to mention ORANGE!0 -
I personally love being pale and would never want to tan. Beds are terrible for you, not to preach but they are.
Maybe give the spray tanning another shot, its not bad for you and I've seen really really pretty / nice results...you just have to find a good place and maybe spend a bit more.0 -
I'm pale too and burn to a crisp in the sun. I've noticed that while training outside (using sunscreen of course) I've developed quite a nice tan... sadly it has my singlet outline on my shoulders and back, but it's okay.
I have spray tanned before and also used those gradual tinted moisturisers which are okay but I always get patchy!!
We have tanning laws here and I'm not allowed to go to a salon to tan because I'm too fair, and for that reason I wouldn't even try buying my own. If there are regulations against it, heaven knows I'd stuff it up myself at home.0 -
Pale skin is much more attractive than skin cancer .....0

The jergens healthy glow is a good alternative, for people who don't want to tan.
And yes, tanning beds DO increase risks of cancer, but not by much. the risk of melanoma in the average person who doesn't tan is .02%. it only increases to .03% for people who use tanning beds.0 -
I agree...love yourself just as you are. There are wonderful things about being pale!! Less wrinkles, no tan lines AND you get to wear those awesome huge hats when out-of-doors )0

I agree with this. it took me a long time to understand this myself. your skin will thank you later!0 -

THIS! Do I look 42?0 -
Honestly, I love my pale women.
I am pretty dark caramel myself, and I just love my plain vanilla. We compliment each-other nicely0 -
I am pale as hell. When I was a bar tender and I had to look a certain way for my job I used to do spray tans all the time, versa spa is much better than mystic. Now I just embrace my paleness0

My friends have called me Casper but I don't mind. At least I don't have leathery lookin' skin and have had compliments on my complexion. I've had ppl mistake me for early 30's while I'm actually 43. So I'll continue avoiding the sun and tanning beds to stay looking approx 10 yrs younger!0 -
I'm pale and tried the beds a few times they just make me go red for a few days, then back to normal. Xx0

<<<Yep, this was taken today. Eff tanning beds, skin cancer runs in my family! I use sunscreen any time I go outside, so by the end of the fall I'm freckled and have a few shades... But otherwise I look like milk.0
-
I agree - don't do tanning beds they cause cancer too and the Jergens tanning stuff is great for your legs and arms.0

I worked with someone who LOVED the sun. She was wrinkled at 24. I met her brother some years later. He was so sad about that. (Me too.)
BTW, I am pale myself. If I get a couple shades darker, I still look white. LOL. My roommate kept nagging me about getting a tan this past summer. She is naturally dark, but she could not understand that some people don't tan. I have always looked younger than my years and enjoy that I do not have all the lines and wrinkles some of my contemporaries do.0 -
A tanning bed/booth with a higher number of bulbs will decrease your chances of burning. I've found that I'm less likely to burn doing a short time in a higher level bed than the same amount of time in a level one bed. Also make sure you drink enough water, and keep your skin moisturized!0

my friend is 27 and started tanning at 20, she doesn't get too dark, but now at 27 she has tan old lady cleavage. You know what I'm talking about the cleavage with wrinkles in it...and it's not like she is busty it's definitely from the tanning bed. Also at 27 she has already had skin cancer removed.0

i'm more irish than a leprechaun, so i know where you're coming from. if you are going to try a tanning bed, make sure you talk to the employees there and start on the lowest setting for no more than 6 minutes or you will burn like toast over an open flame! take it slow. be careful. don't over do it. i over did it my first time and i regretted it. let's just say my base tan for vacation turned into my reason for laying in the cold indoor pool for the entire week... now i'm too lazy and broke to tan, so i'm back to being pale as a sheet.0

I'm pale, and I've learned to love it. It's part of who I am. One of my close friends used to tan, not even really that often but she got skin cancer last year when she was only 19 in 2 different places. Luckily they caught it and were able to remove it but it was still scary for everyone, and left scars on her body.
As far as tan girls looking "skinnier"...who cares? I mean seriously, I don't want to be skinny I want to be healthy & fit. Not bones clinging to me with an orange glow. & there are some GORGEOUS pale women....Norah Jones, Adele, etc
Best advice I can give you, stop worrying so much about how you look. There are far more important things, like careers and fitness (actually fitness, not just being skinny), friends....LIFE0 -
I'm pale but I self tan with St Tropez bronzing mousse. It is amazing and not orange at all. I put it on with a foam mitt and there are never blotches or streaks.0
