What are you losing weight for?

The truth: to be more comfortable and have a better standard of life and health.
The fantasy: I'm preparing to survive a zombie apocalypse by becoming ninja fit.
Oohhh good one! Love the Firefly ticker, btw0 -
I want a before and after picture. I have been heavy so long, that I dont have a post puberty skinny picture and I want one! I want to go out on a date with my wonderful boyfriend and be the hottie that he thinks I am. I want to not feel like all people notice is my spare tire. I want my daughter to see my transformation and know that I am healthy and it is how you should always be. I kinda want my ex-husband to see me and be a little jealous. I want to buy a pair of jeans in the mall that doesnt come from Lane Bryant.0

I am decided to lose weight for the below reasons:
1. I was sick and tired of being overweight
2. I want to look good in a swim suit when I move to Florida
3. I want to be healthy and able to walk the beach for as long as I want
4. I want to avoid having health issues since I don't have any now
5. I was ready and found the best way was to join MFP0 -
Aww wow
so many motivational reasons!!!! :-)0 -
I would like to lose weight in order to recognize myself in the mirror!0
-
To feel comfortable singing and playing guitar in front of people without worrying about my clothes pulling, bunching or pockets of ugly flab sticking out0

I am just trying to be healthier so I can stick around for my kids for a long time. And hopefully lead them, by example, to lead a healthy lifestyle themselves. I was so fat that I never went outdoors with them; that was left to my husband. I love playing with them! I missed out on a lot of that...0

if being thinner makes me happy and more comfortable, then i'd love to have that feeling back again!!0

1. So I live longer
2. To be able to dress my age
3. To make my husband proud to have me on his arm
4. To feel normal and not an outcast on the sidelines of life0 -

For my son. He is eight years old and has Down syndrome. I want to be the healthiest, most fit mom I can be so I can continue to take care of him. Before I lost weight I couldn't get in the floor and play with him. Being outside in the summer was horrible. I had asthma. My son deserves more. And I'm going to give it to him.0

My wife and I are expecting our first child (girl  ) in May and I don't want to be a fat Dad.0

I'm a kayaker, so my goal was originally to paddle fastest, longest, and to have an easier time carrying my kayak when we have to portage around dams and blockages. Now I'm running too, so I want to lose more weight to increase my speed. And, of course, to be ready for the zombie apocalypse. If you're ready for zombies, you're ready for just about anything.0

To keep setting a good example for my children -- to show them that taking care of yourself, even if you lost ground for a long time, is important. Exercise, eating healthy, and living out healthy choices are important.
Also to avoid going back to debilitating pain. After my 2nd son I had severe sciatic nerve pain in my back and legs. I never want to go back to not being able to walk again.
I want to cut weight to help my running. I started running a year and a half ago, and I want to accomplish time goals in my half marathons and full marathons. Last year was all about crossing the finish lines and this year I want to improve times. Cutting weight to reduce the impact on my joints and to be able to FLOAT rather than PLOD is a great motivator. :laugh:0 -
To get my health back, I want my A1C to be below 4 so I can come off diabetic meds.
Promised my nephew I'd go to the beach with him this summer if I was wearing a size 6 again.
I am just plain tired of being fat and sick.0 -
